Great video. Been fighting the driver's side ever since I got a new soft top. Just put up with it (for too long). Looking forward to making this adjustment and saving myself the aggravating struggle.
Very informative video! New Miata owner (95 M-edition) and this was exactly what I was looking for thanks for the part #. Thanks for sharing and have a great rest of your week/ weekend 😃👍👍🤙
My top popped off today so I tried this however, I think one of my strikers is worn. I have a 99 miata. What is the technical name to replace the strikers? Any ideas of who to reorder from? Is there a new part that will replace this?
I think its pretty common for the locks to wear out and allow the latches to pop open. I fixed mine via youtube search for something like "fix my miata top latch(es). You can still get new ones from Mazda, too. And probably lots of others. Its the soft top latches. When I bought mine, the po had the latches secured with a preset zip tie that he slipped over somehow to hold the whole thing closed.
Bless you Miata Man. Just 2 quick questions; did you buy your latches from Mazda directly? And are soft top latches the same as hard top latches? I ask because I'm looking to swap to a hardtop. And realized that I don't have: the hardtop side latches (which aren't super important) but more importantly, the front ones - and was looking to use my soft tops latches instead. Any bit helps!
You can still buy new latches from Mazda. With that said, used ones are quite easy to find. The front latches are the same for the ST and HT. The side latches are unique.
@@MiataMan Thanks! I live in Canada and used side latches are incredibly difficult to find. I'm thinking about going through with Mazda to get side latches. Might run me up a pretty penny aha.
Dude, you saved me $400. Thank you.
Bought new replacements and was confused why they didn’t close…thank you for this you saved me a HUGE headache haha

Very helpful! I would have totally done this the wrong way.
Glad I could help!
Thanks for posting, now I can silence the wind noise from my top not sealing all the way!
Great video. Straight to the point and thanks for part number as my tip was worn out.

Love the videos! From one Miata owner to another!
Thanks for the positive feedback. Let me know if there are any videos that you would like me to make.

hey miata man! is the front striker plates the same as the ones for the sides? thanks!!
Good question. The fronts are different, as they are angled slightly to accommodate the curvature of the windshield frame.
