I've got a '91 and original owner. Heard in the day that the handle, without u touching the release button, should get 5-6 clicks for proper adjustment.
Car just failed her MOT, and this was one of the reasons, rather do it myself than have a bloke in the garage charge me £30 for it. Thanks for the video ❤
I was over-enthusiastic and almost smoked my clutch with this. I tightened the handbrake until it had a really nice, firm pull. Then I went to start the car the next day and wondered why it ran so bad... luckily I only drove a few hundret meters before I remembered that I probably overtightened the handbrake cable...
Great! Would love to see a video about the trunk release, and gas door release in the center console. My trunk release leaver is way down, and isn't sitting level with the gas door release, like its been pushed down.
@@MiataMan I'll have to check that out. It still operates, but I the more I think about it, the more a broken spring makes sense. Thanks! You make some great videos for us new to miatas. I've always been a old VW guy (I'm old too btw lol), but these help out a great deal!
hi! my miata ebrake only worked for a day then stopped , i think it’s because i need new calipers but my bf and i tried to tighten the handle and the caliper way as well to see if it would work. i hear a squeak now that i thought was the breaks at first but it’s the ebrake. it will go away loosening the handle and caliper thing right?
It sounds like you need new rear callipers. The squeak should go away if you back-off the hand brake cable. If it squeaks after that, back-off the calliper adjustment.
Idk if youre still reading comments on this video, but any tips on removing the wood handle? I just bought one with the nardi torino and im trying to preserve it all so i dont want it on the car.
The ebrake handle is usually glued and pressure fitted on the the arm. Twisting back and forth while pulling on it will usually remove it. Try to find some rubberized work gloves 🧤 to give you a better grip.

Helpful video, thank you very much!
You're welcome!
Perfect timing mate. I replaced my pads all round last week on my 95 UK 1.8iS and needed to do this. Thanks!
Edit: just did it, 10 minutes.
Thanks for the positive feedback 🙏

My pleasure👍
I can't understand why you have so few subscribers. These little videos are easy to understand for novices and really useful.
A truly international Miata. One Canadian coin and one US coin.
Great video. Very helpful. Thank you (love your watch)

I wonder if the return spring on the lever has broken?

Which way do you turn the adjustment at the console
Right to tighten , Left to loosen. 👍

@@MiataMan thanks!
Very helpful. Thank you
Haha, submariner and still collecting that pocket change.
That's only a small part of the adjustment. To make it correct you have to adjust the screw on the brake saddle too.
Very helpful...thank you
