Fun bits on scheduling... each team will play its own division members twice, one home one away, and then a team will play a different division in its own conference and play that whole division, and then it will play a division of a different cardinal direction of the other conference, and the last three games are by the previous season's rankings so you get a superbowl rematch during the season, or a battle of the teams with the top two draft picks
Great video! You were pretty spot on for how the playoffs are structured with just a couple of notes: - There are now 17 regular season games as of the 2021 season. - The playoffs begin with 14 of the 32 teams making the playoffs. 7 from each Conference. - 4/7 playoff spots are taken by the winners of each division within that conference. So there will always be a representative of the AFC N/S/E/W and NFC N/S/E/W. - the other 3 playoff spots available in each conference are occupied by "Wild Card" teams. These are the 3 next best available teams in each conference (regardless of what division they are in) determined by their regular season wins and losses. - The playoff spots get structured into rankings in each conference of 1-7 "seeds" -The 1-4 seeds in each conference will always be the Division winners which will then be ordered by who among them have the best regular season record. - The 5-7 seeds will then be ordered by who among them have the best regular season records. - The playoffs will begin in the Wild Card round which will be the first of 4 rounds of playoff contention. In this round you will have in each Conference the 2 seed play the 7 seed, the 3 with the 6, and the 4 with the 5. The #1 ranked seed gets to sit out this round and automatically continue on to the next round. -The winners of the Wild Card round will then face off against each other and the #1 ranked seeds in the Divisional round. In this round the 1 seeds will face off against the lowest ranked available seed and the 2nd highest ranked team will face off against the 2nd lowest ranked available team in their respective conferences. - The winners of this round will show down against their remaining counterpart in their own conference in the Conference championship. The winner of this round will go on to the Super Bowl.
I’m so glad! Thanks. I have a similar video where we figure out counting with Roman Numerals that you might like too! ua-cam.com/video/OaEE6UBSH6s/v-deo.htmlsi=PaJLBOco90I6Kk7N
I enjoyed this video! Now let me mansplain the rest of it, lol. The 3 wildcards in each conference are simply the best 3 teams to not win a division. Could be all second place teams, or sometimes a division is so strong the third place team also gets in. Winning the division has priority over the teams record....meaning the top wildcard with a 12-5 record would have to be the road team against a division winner with a 10-7 record. Division winners get an automatic home game. The best division winner gets a first round bye, and home field advantage the rest of the way. It's not a perfect system, but it usually evens itself out. Now with all that out of the way, go Seahawks
I really love the part of this comment where you said “I enjoyed this video!” The rest was like Charlie Brown’s parent - whaa, wha, wha, whaa ,wha. Lol 😂 just kidding - I appreciate you explaining. Thanks for watching!
I loved how you visualized this, your soothing voice and playful approach made this very enjoyable! The whole playoff scenarios, and who gets in, has gotten more complicated over the years. Both division winners and wild cards are often decided not just by overall record; sometimes tie breakers are involved, which include head-to-head record, conference record, point differentials etc. But overall you explained it well! ❤ Thank you for posting!
The rest of the games a team plays will be from another division in both conference (ex. The NFC East this year plays all the teams from the NFC West and AFC West). So with including their division games and example above that accounts for 14 games. Two games are determined by which place they finished in their division the previous year so if they finished in 1st place they will play the teams that finished in 1st place in the other divisions of their conference. The final game will be a team from the opposite conference who finished in the same place as their division the previous year.
I keep starting it and then feeling a bit intimidated by it. I will try to do something today if I have time. Thanks so much for the comment and the little push I need!
This is actually so helpful. I married into a football family while I knew close to nothing about any sports. And I have just had a mental block each time they try to explain the game to me. BUT THIS HELPED LOL. Can you do an ASMR video on budgeting next? I feel like I’d listen this way.
Older vid, but popped up on my recommended now that playoff % is starting to get narrower. 7 total teams from the AFC and the NFC go to the playoffs. there are 3 wild card games, played between each division winner and the 3 wild card spots. The team with the best record (for example, in 2020, the Chiefs went 14-2, giving them the #1 seed) will skip the wild card round, immediately advancing to the AFC Divisional round. From there, the 3 teams who won the wild card round will play in the divisional round, where there aren’t really any rules for who plays who and where. (except for the #1 seed, as they will host EVERY playoff game they get to, excluding the Super Bowl.) The winners of the Divisional round play eachother in the AFC Championship, where from there is decided who will attend the Super Bowl. I hope this was concise enough to grasp as it is a lot of words, and your ASMR is excellent and more NFL content would be lovely! (For some recommendations, you could do the history of team rivalry’s, history of the NFC and the AFC, (quite interesting imo), and based on your scoff at the Pats being in the SB, I’d be willing to bet you’re a Dolphins fan based on your lack of accent. Congrats on beating a winning team!!! And sorry about the beatdown in germany. ;)
You should Review The year the Giants went all the way from wild card to defeat the undefeated Patriots. Might make a good ASMR story. It was an epic win for giants and a crushing defeat for the Pats. I was rooting for the Patriots back then. It was heartbreaking to be a Pats fan.
Outside of the 6 division games, the divisions are rotated against each other. So for example the AFC West would be paired with the AFC South and the NFC west. That leaves 2 games for the league to schedule matchups they want to see.
Texans and Falcons are both missing the playoffs this season soooo pretty much impossible for them to make the SB. Lol….nice try though. I really enjoyed this, even though I know the game rather well.
I am thrilled for them and for all my family in Detroit! I remember in the 80's I thought they made it to the playoffs and there was a song, we had the 45, that was Another One Bites the Dust but with all the players names - it was awesome!!
if the texans and the falcons make the super bowl i don’t know what kind of bible level miracle had to have happened for that to take place
Place your bets now! You heard it here first. Lol

We’re going to need a whole pile of index cards for all that! 😂 Thank you for the info!
One of my favorite asmr triggers of all time is over explaining a topic or task to the most basic level. You nailed it! Great video.

That is actually super informative - thanks!
Loving all the flashcard videos! I saw a comment you made saying there may be more football flash cards in the future, would love to see it!

My new favorite channel. So good. Also you have beautiful hands, they look elegant. Perfect for asmr

Wait this makes no sense so the Dallas Cowboys are considered an East team???
LOL, The Patriot are never making the playoffs this year. I like you optomism. LOL
Lions just won the NFC north for the first time ever. Go lions baby 🫡
