I’ve always been too scared to grind. I stayed away from it 20 years ago when I use to skate all the time, I mostly did jump offs and other tricks but never grinding lol
Use to do shitty frontside/backsides and soul grinds. But same as you, I didn't feel it and mostly avoided them. Ive had some bad falls grinding, knocked myself clean out on a coping box. Still have the lump in my forehead now 15 years later. Just getting back into it and I've hit the wall with them again! Resorting to how to videos waiting for someone to persuade me they're a piece of piss haha good luck dude, really is a staple trick to progress further.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed. I agree with needing a his type of videos from different people too. Not everyone is going to relate with my content . And there’s obviously different ways to tech etc. 🙏🏻❤️
Alright, it's comfurmed Ricardo can read my mind. I actually am interested in starting to learn trickster now that I can do the basics just good enough, still need a work on turning and elevations though Tricks*, I really hate auto correct
Great video as always Ricardo, super appreciate you going through the tutorials for various grinds. I have been really struggling with figuring out backsides. It would be great if you made a video on backsides as well as I think they are fundamental like frontsides to unlocking many other grinds. Thanks!
Thanks for this helpfull video! Been practicing the soul grind as my first grind.. now i want to try a front side... This explanation step by step makes me feel confident enough to really start doing stuff!
Great video Ricardo. I really want to learn how to frontside. I had them before lockdown and haven't done them since. Got some sort of fear doing them but are the grind I want to do the most. 😂
Very informative Ricardo 😊 how about switch frontside? Is it still the same angle when grinding? Hope you can make tutorial about backside grind, thanks in advance 😊 greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Oh, the easiest way I think is to put some kind of rail in grass. Were you know that if you fall you’re going to land in grass and get yourself a short rail to that way there’s basically no risk and you can fall as much as you want to get used to it
I struggle with something as simple, as jumping on to something. I can never really figure out if I should apply pressure on my toes/front wheels during the jump or not.. Is the jumping motion mainly coming from the bent knees --> stretched out knees, and pulling yourself up with your arms? Or do you apply pressure somewhere in the boots doing the jump?
For me I would say its a little bit of everything you said You wanna jump as you would without rollers but you wanna put less strenght into your feet so you don't slip out, a d you compensate with pulling up your legs and your arms? at least thats how I'm learning to do it and it works well.
it isn’t necessary but it is nice to because it makes execution more clean and easier to learn, However some materials will break on you, i own some old impalas and i wouldn’t trust grinding on those for a second so it’s important to know if your skate can withstand the friction of the material because my impalas can easily break so it depends if it will break (and some grinds require the channel in the middle especially if it seems your wheels will get you stuck)

Ty
I have a really hard time jumping onto down rails. I dont know if its the gap or being worried about my back foot, but it freaks me out.
its strange to me that most people learn frontsides first.. i was always WAY more comfortable with backsides.
we need an ennui discount code, ricardo!
I always thought soul grinds were like 10 times easier than front sides, lol. I think my triangle was too narrow.
Maybe even more basic, would you say you need aggressive skates to grind? Great video Ricardo
No , skating since the 90s, we didn't need specific skates.
it isn’t necessary but it is nice to because it makes execution more clean and easier to learn, However some materials will break on you, i own some old impalas and i wouldn’t trust grinding on those for a second so it’s important to know if your skate can withstand the friction of the material because my impalas can easily break so it depends if it will break (and some grinds require the channel in the middle especially if it seems your wheels will get you stuck)
but cool video... i use to love skating
Please help us to learn how to stall....😉👏🏽
fuck I should've bought agressive skates lmao, this looks dope
Hi Ricardo, im from Chile im almost 35 and i really want to do agreesive, please let me know if it is too late. Great videos.
Soul grind was the easiest for me

But i remember my first grind was front side
