man thas creazy! I'm 39 and came back to skating last year after over 20 years of a break and under many of this kind of videos I see guys like me (an you) who are coming back to the old hobbys. That's also interesting from psychological point of view, can we call it middle life crisis or is it a way back to the younger days?
@@miszczmateusz maaaaannnnn!! Looks like it's blading revival for men in their 30's-40's. The only thing I'm worried about is my lower back. It's not skating season yet, so I'm getting prepared. Remembering my injuries from some 20 years ago, when I took 2m drops with bad posture, hence bad landing, makes my coccyx scream in a pitched voice. How about your back and knees?
@@causticvision hehe that's my worries too! I'm also worried about my back and knees, I'm doing situps in order to prepare myself for the season. I've put 63mm wheels into my old MJ12 , the biggest wheels that fits and going more toward street skating than aggressive, on the beginning at least.
@@miszczmateusz Right, same with me, I'm planning to buy a pair of Aeon 80's and powerblade more through the city. There is a need to revive all the muscle memory and let the body adapt, and then maybe in couple of months it won't be stupid to take bigger rails etc. Freeskating on 50-something wheels is pain, especially in my city with coarse concrete, and that's the main reason my good ol' rollerblades were resting for years.
Buying FM4s on Friday. Last skates I bought were oxygen argons in the late 90s. I haven't strapped on a pair of skates in over ten years. Haven't attempted a grind in close to twenty. Daughters taking an interest to skating so looking forward to father daughter bonding time.
Was a big time skater 20 years ago, just now getting back into it. Even back then I never really grinded on anything. I always preferred to just skate ramps, drop in, do tricks in the air, but never grinding. Idk why, guess they kinda scare me to even try em 😂
Been a skateboarder all of my life but looking into transitioning towards aggressive inline skating. I’ve been watching all of your videos the last few days and they’re very helpful. Keep up the content bro, you just received a new subscriber.
Ordered some aggressive inline skates today and have been looking at beginner tips. Been a skateboarder for years, and decided to give this a try after learning some grinds on grind shoes. Looks really fun. Well made video!
This is great advice, i'm going to take a different approach next session and really pay attention to what my feet and hands are doing during the run-up. Thanks as always for the great content!!
Step 1 is a lifesaver! I constantly step up into grinds couldn't for the life work out how or why can't wait to to try setting it up thanks for the tip
Yo! Just want to say thanks for making these videos. You might not hear that enough. I started skating back in June and am loving it thanks to your tips on tricks, warm-ups, etc. Keep it up man.
Great tips as always! Some thoughts... Tip 1: imagine if you were skateboarding, you just made the trick significantly easier (or harder) Tip 3: my mate and I call it sweaty pits if your arms are down. Gotta show off your stains!
Love the switch setup tip! This explains why my switch soul has always felt better than my regular soul...BTW any chance of dropping a vid on going fakie out of a quarter pipe/zero spin grinds on a quarter...had to learn to go fakie and stall on my own and it certainly was a challenge without any guidance.
Checking the arms helped me land my first royales. I noticed my shoulders were not "parallel" to the box that I was trying to grind. Because I was focused on looking at the end of the obstacle I was rotating my shoulders forward and away from the box unconsciously. I decided to look over my shoulder instead and point my elbow towards the end of the obstacle and it helped a lot!
Lol, the first piece of advice is gold. I always wondered why equally complex grinds like Soul Grind and Mizou are so different in difficulty for me. Mizou was just natural and Soul Grind was really difficult. And now I realized that my natural stance is with my right foot forward which is natural for Mizou and for Soul Grind I just need to switch. Simple, but would never guess that on my own.
These are amazing tips. I tried grinds on my Powerslide Next with Kizer Flux frames on 90mm wheels. It's true, you have to jump on top of a grind instead of chop at it from the side! Also, I noticed staggering the stance works well before I try and do a 360 spin.
I trying to get into aggressive skating I just started to inline skating after 20 years since not been skating love your videos very useful thanks man❤
Hey Josh! I truly want to say thanks for all your videos man. I got back into skating in March and came accross your channel at the time. Started watching some of your videos, then more and more every time as I started seeing how your tutorials accelerated the learning process. I have now watched all your videos and continue to rewatch them and take notes (like you mention) and it's incredible how much improvement I have gained just by picking up subtle details I missed the first time around on some of those videos. 2020 has definitely been a rough year for many, but keeping the blading alive has been one of the best things to come out it for the blading community. Happy Holidays to you and the family brother, and a big thank you from all your subscribers and viewers. Aloha🤙
Much Love from the Acosta Blades Family, I appreciate your support and kind words. We are part of something so special and unique. Big ups for coming back. Have an Epic 2021 and Keep the Blade alive brother. Cheers!
Wow appreciate this video a lot! The staggering and setting up makes a lot of sense because I started noticing how I was swinging that front leg for my soul grinds. Also slowly practicing my topsides, I think i need a little more flexibility in my ankle because I can’t lock it in properly on ledges such a weird angle! Love your videos, just started skating 4months ago and your channel has been a blessing since I don’t know many other advanced aggressive bladers !
I have 4 pairs of aeon shells. Basic blacks, Billys (White), Lomax (Browns) and Eislers (silver) excluding the Eislers and Basics i got the other 2 on bladetrade for the low low.
I’m really struggling with “kinked” rails that I find at skateparks. I can grind straight rails, but as soon as the rail becomes angled I can’t keep my balance. Especially when my lead foot is on the angle and my rear foot is still on the flat.
Lool, this makes me feel so good. I always jump on the obstacle when I grind, especially topsides, but everybody wants to tell me to chop. Now I have the proof that I’m skating properly haha. Thank you so much for the video!
Her is a good one when u are the black sheep in the sk8park after 10 years i starp my weels on an i was the only blader in the park it also makes me think ware are all the bladers when the skates are sold out ???
Hi, thank you so much for your tips. Your videos help me a lot. I like your philosophy. I've made a lot of progress doing tricks. I'm a 49 years old girl in France.
Thanks for the tips, I haven't really thought about setting up before the trick and I think that would help a lot. I have a hard time judging how high I need to jump for my left foot(non-dominant) and if I can remember to jump up and above, I think could solve that problem. can't wait to go out and apply these tips!
I was having trouble doing royales on my Aeon's until I saw how you used your arms and tilted your body forward to get a deeper lock on the dominant foot.
I don't know how to feel about the whole arms thing, I grew up in park skiing culture, and at the time the trend was to pretty much keep your arms relaxed and your hands low throughout the whole grind. I've adapted that into my inline skating and even though I do use my hands to get upwards momentum when I jump, I keep em down during the actual grind. I'm not sure if I'm holding myself back or not.
on tip No.3...."the hands bizarre thing" ....when i used to do unity grinds (over 20+ tears ago)...i used to unconsciously do the "om budda gesture with my fingers".....and there is no emoticons on youtube text to explain that.
Hi mate, make a video of how to fall, roll, don't use knees to absorb the impact, something like that, with and without protection (knee, elbow pads), how to avoid the most to be injured
Grinds can be performed in skate parks or on the streets(ledges, stair sets, hand rails, picnic tables, etc.) as well, There are even people who use them on trees and random boulders play grounds and empty swimming pools. Its all up to you and how you create with the skill set you have in the environment you skate in. Have fun and explore what is possible!
@@acostablades8138 thank you very much! U help me a lot I have been skating before but with the usual roller blades! I bought my grinds a week before and i am obsessed 🤩! Thank yaaaa

I learned to soul grind with my right foot so i learned to royale that way too but i find very hard to do back royale or top sides this way for some reason doing them switch feels easier. Why is that? Should i just switch completely to the left foot?
Sucks cause my shoulder is separated and when I skate I try n throw my arms up but I'm worried my arm will pop out smh really bringing my confidence down
