But I’m also jealous bc I wanted those aeons soooo bad and they sold out!! And I’m old af and can’t do rocket fishes like I could half my life ago

I never knew about landing on the wrong side of the rail. I mean it’s happened before and I knew it didn’t feel quite right. Like maybe I came up with a bit too much force/angle from the side and it sent me over. But as long as you were grinding the rail I didn’t think it mattered. Sometimes I do it on purpose as a different grind and jump to the far side with a 90 or 270. The same side looks cleaner for sure.
I love stepping up into the grinds bro I do it because it's more movement and more workout (me trying to explain why I never learned how to do em properly )
Do it how ever you enjoy doing it. At the end of the day, these are toys we are playing with in a park or outside. There shouldn't be any wrong or right especially if its just for fun. If you enter competitions i think this is when principles and rules begin to take its effect.

I watch beginners to grinding getting going online. Something a lot of them do is not getting on top of the obstacle, so their weight is off to the side and they fall away from the obstacle almost immediately. Is that a common problem?
100% this, myself included. I think it's an issue with committing to the obstacle--so you lean away from it in order to avoid busting yourself on the obstacle. Reality is, it makes your grinds shorter, you never learn to balance the trick appropriately, and it doesn't look good. Gotta commit 100%. Commit or die!
@@cjzimbo I can't grind at all so it's an observation and definitely not a criticism. Hope you get those two-footed jumps nailed 👊. I wonder if some grind newbies rush into doing the grinds without getting solid two-footed stalls down first?
@Hellequin Maskharat Yep, that's how I see my next steps - eventually. I know I can frontside coping, but what I can't do is drop back in off it either 180 or fakie. So no point doing that frontside until I've nailed the out.

A trick that helped me was to think of locking my other foot first, in time I tricked my habitual mind and got both to lock at the same time. You got this 🙌
I used to aggressive skate and I have never been able to grind confidently.. I have once or twice landed a super sketchy makio.. I would always land on my ass when I would try a soul or a frontslide
New subscriber PS: Men that does aggressive / freestyle inline skating do you take it slow or do you go at it? I'm asking because I would love to start inline skating, when I was little in Miami My twin sister had a pair I used them before I grew taller and ruin her skates.
a 1 2 isn't necessarily always a step up, as long as both feet have left the ground you can still hit a 1 2, however , without it looking like a step up you would be locking the h block foot in (if its a trick that has a soul and h block lock) before the soul foot, for advanced tricks this is very helpful, and also evident with savannahs, but for royals, farvs , back sides and front sides the 1 2's dont look good, Josiah Blee talks about this.
After quitting for 20 years, I've been back for a month and I was having the problem of coming off the wrong side of the rail on top souls and sweat stances - man it was annoying but I'm finally getting them back proper. Got some good topsides on ledges too. I'm like a re-beginner hahaa. Great video 👍
I have my aggressive skates a little forgotten lately (I fraked up a bolt trying to mount my much desired setup with some too small wheels I had around, the head of the bolt went in the wrong way, it got deformed like it was butter, and now I can't get it out... Great hardware quality, Kaltik 😒 And I don't have access to a drill or anything right now...) But one of my main goals at this stage is jumping, and landing, with both feet at the same time. I have a big problem with the jumping part and don't really know why... (some tips or specific exercises to work on this would be really appreciated). What's funny to me is that my SO used to be a gymnast, but for some reason he struggles to understand why I don't start practicing grinds stepping on, instead of stalling but in the "proper" way. I'm just too old to unlearn bad habits, I prefer to take my time. Great, inspiring video as always 💪🔥
It seems like the step up would make it easier and safer when you are first starting and learning how to get your skates on the grind. Idk though bc I'm in my first year of skating and I'm still working on dropping in and rolling down stairs.
It is but after sometime getting the 2 feet at the same time is the name of the game, but only if you want to... Really who cares lol Just have fun and be creative.
@@acostablades8138 thank you for not putting me down. I really respect your punctuality. I was not trying to be disrespectful at all with my comment. I am very new to skating and just have so many questions.. I just got a tortoise butt pad and it is helping me so much with my confidence. Not the turtle looking pad. 😂 They are like spandex shorts with a big pad on the tailbone.
I’ve always left the ground with my right foot first, unless spinning into something. Of course both feet still hit at the same time though. I almost forgot all the drama back in the day about “step up’s” and if “hand up’s” on high rails counted. Got super tiring explaining to random people that both my feet still hit at the same time. Don’t miss that at all. Not sure if you remember Ani from back in the day, but it was pretty similar to him but not quite as extreme. This reminds me of the “don’t push mongo” or don’t “mall grab” your board stuff, and don’t use the backpack straps to carry your board with skating. Always hearing about how bikes/boards/blades are a free form of personal and artistic expression, but to have quasi-gate keeping rules like these always seemed to detract from the inclusive vibe a lot of people are after. But this always happens in any kind of scene. That being said, it’s also super rad that in 2020 skaters give bladers props and vice-versa. Never thought getting back into both just before Covid shut everything down, all the different wheels and ages at a skatepark could all coexist and even feed off of each other in the same sesh....Love getting out on the bike with the blades in the backpack, with the board strapped to the back of it...what a time to be alive🤙🤙
Hey. So i got my skates today, first aggressives! It's a bit weird from the freestyle skates... It's tight and it's a bit hard to control, is it only my skates or is this normal?
i think if you come from the right hand side of a rail 180 soul grind it into a 360 fakie bomb down the left of a bank (thinking of like rail on top of a aqua duck here because skate boarding lmao) that would make me loose my mind
So i've been skateboarding for 24 years and coming into any grind frontside and popping over is just another variation in skateboarding. I ask because i'm literally going to start skating inline very very soon. Need to know what this feels like. Looks super fun. So coming from the world of skateboarding I think it's sick to make the consious choice to come out on the other side. Like I get step ups being wack but popping over looks sick. Just another variation. Basically want to know why it's different in inline and why I should avoid it. I'm super new to this so help me understand.
whats the best to learn how to skate? flat or anti rocker?. i know anti rocker is slower which might be an advantage but I'm undecided and which way to go
Do you have any advice on how to stop stepping on grinds? I’m just starting to mentally prepare myself as I get ready to do a trick, but I’m unsure how to position my feet so that they can lift/land at the same time.
Practice jumping with 2 feet onto a ledge or box, condition the movement until it becomes natural. Then do it with skates on, sometimes jumping on the ledge a few times and rolling across helps. Then begin to commit to jumping into your favorite grind, Best of luck. I also think "2 feet" before i jump and grind.
Also practise bunny hopping with both feet, drill it I to yourself to always jump with both feet, practise by jumping ontop of the ledge u want to grind
I had/have the same issue. What helped me a lot was to get a wooden pallet or block of wood and jump into the stall of the grind. Over and over. Get a tripod for your smartphone and film yourself for a while and then review, adapt, repeat. After that jump into stalls on (unwachsed) ledges. I believe I got there for the Soul Grind and I’m halfway there of not stepping Frontside (50/50)… 😂
Too crazy for Friday cruiser behind me on automated consequence is this Saturday catastrophe the role play maybe be in the ecology let me know if you get belted idea
Depends, If you rub brick, clear coat and wax it no. But if not yes. You can also get good grooves on your frames by hitting boot tricks though. Soul based tricks will wear the frames down very quickly.
The only grinds I still kind of step up onto are basic soul grinds... I've been working on trying to fix it... Anyways I'm still waiting on your pro skate... When is it coming out?
I desperately want some skates but there is literally only one type in my size (17)... and they are more of a fitness skate. Im looking to be more aggressive. Any suggestions from ANYONE on where I could possibly get a custom skate or something would be greatly appreciated!!!! Much love
I really needed this thx and also, do you have any tips for the p0rN ⭐️??? Like I’ve tied it but the position feels really uncomfortable and I can’t balance it
personally i don't feel the exiting side really maters if you initiated a topside trick its still topside until l you leave the rail. Once you have left the grind who cares
You didn't give a reason why ending up on the other side after a rail grind is bad. Is it because the skills will not carry over to ledges if you consistently do it that way? Because you lose tension, hence lose control when you go over? Or because it's a symptom of being off balance? Or because you were hard up and "2 mistakes beginners make" just doesn't bait enough? Or is it just on principle?
Not a need but definitely a plus especially on sticky surfaces. I like challenging my self to skate with out wax for the first 20 min i skate in parks after that... It Grease Lightening lol
It doesn't, it should be about having fun. These things are, I guess what makes a trick look better though... or cleaner. I may do a video on showing the difference on a rail.
You shouldn't emphasize how wrong or tedious steps ups are, just say this is how you go from stepping up to jumping on obstacles and focusing more on how to pop and elevate one's self and body onto an obstacle. It would sound more positive, because step ups aren't wrong, it's just a style thing.

I have my aggressive skates a little forgotten lately (I fraked up a bolt trying to mount my much desired setup with some too small wheels I had around, the head of the bolt went in the wrong way, it got deformed like it was butter, and now I can't get it out... Great hardware quality, Kaltik 😒 And I don't have access to a drill or anything right now...)
But one of my main goals at this stage is jumping, and landing, with both feet at the same time.
Hi guys, i want to learn aggressive, i have many years of freeskating on the back.. What type of skates do you recommend to buy now? Brand? Thanks!
I just hopped on but bad idea I never learned how to stop so I went downhill straight into a gate
8:00 as u say, you learned stepping up and its still in your head, thats a bad habit to avoid at all costs
That fastslide to frontside tho
Totally Laced!
which skates you recommend as a first pair of aggressive skates? aeon60 or roces fifth element? coz these 2 i like the most😀
Aeons they are lighter and more agile. Ive skated both and Roces are heavy
i think if you come from the right hand side of a rail 180 soul grind it into a 360 fakie bomb down the left of a bank (thinking of like rail on top of a aqua duck here because skate boarding lmao) that would make me loose my mind
I'm super new to this so help me understand.
whats the best to learn how to skate? flat or anti rocker?. i know anti rocker is slower which might be an advantage but I'm undecided and which way to go
I would say flat on just skating, If you're learning grinds i would suggest anti rocker. Best of luck
@@acostablades8138 thanks. I went with anti rocker to learn to skate slower then learn grinds.
What’s the best way to practice not stepping-on the grind? I do it unconsciously out of fear I think and only realize looking back at videos
Just got for it, stall it 100 times then start slowly rolling it
Also practise bunny hopping with both feet, drill it I to yourself to always jump with both feet, practise by jumping ontop of the ledge u want to grind
What shirt is that? It’s awesome!
Transit company but they are no longer around. Favorite Shirt on those challenging days😉
Dang, that’s too bad. Thanks for responding
I would add: standing/not bending the knees on grinds. Terrible habit. It makes all the grinds look the same
Is that a gost shirt?
Too crazy for Friday cruiser behind me on automated consequence is this Saturday catastrophe the role play maybe be in the ecology let me know if you get belted idea
Does skating on concrete ledges ruin the frames faster???
Depends, If you rub brick, clear coat and wax it no. But if not yes. You can also get good grooves on your frames by hitting boot tricks though. Soul based tricks will wear the frames down very quickly.
The only grinds I still kind of step up onto are basic soul grinds... I've been working on trying to fix it... Anyways I'm still waiting on your pro skate... When is it coming out?
Im no Pro
I desperately want some skates but there is literally only one type in my size (17)... and they are more of a fitness skate. Im looking to be more aggressive. Any suggestions from ANYONE on where I could possibly get a custom skate or something would be greatly appreciated!!!! Much love
💫
I really needed this thx and also, do you have any tips for the p0rN ⭐️??? Like I’ve tied it but the position feels really uncomfortable and I can’t balance it
4:44 turned babe into bar-b-q 🔥
Where is the best place I can get skates
oak city skate shop. Inline skater owned and run.
personally i don't feel the exiting side really maters if you initiated a topside trick its still topside until l you leave the rail. Once you have left the grind who
cares
What park is this??
Memorial team Pain park in Colorado Springs
Why is step up not "allowed"? It could be an awesome skate style!! Also, landing on the oterh side off the rail... why not?? do it freestyle ;-)
hi I tried to drop in fakey and I watched your vid on it and I broke my arm
You didn't give a reason why ending up on the other side after a rail grind is bad. Is it because the skills will not carry over to ledges if you consistently do it that way? Because you lose tension, hence lose control when you go over? Or because it's a symptom of being off balance? Or because you were hard up and "2 mistakes beginners make" just doesn't bait enough? Or is it just on principle?
You pretty much said it all, but i think the major one is balance and principle.
Probably the project garage Bigfoot tired and Tesla engineering is illegal for the street is good way for cruiser do you have to have
I learned grinds with stepping up..
Me too.
👍
This had to make you cringe while doing that step on. But it’s for the youth !!!
Do you need skate wax
Not a need but definitely a plus especially on sticky surfaces. I like challenging my self to skate with out wax for the first 20 min i skate in parks after that... It Grease Lightening lol
Why does it matter what side you land on? It should just matter if you landed it.
Did you watch the whole video? I say this closer to the end.
Mistake #4: Not wearing any protective gear.
