    Wow you did awesome. Really impressive growth and you look much more natural than me at jumping. I've started skating a few months ago at 37, mostly on flat ground, I wanted to get more proficient at actually skating before I went to the park.
    After rolling up and down the quarter forwards and backwards, I hit up a miniramp and tried to stay at the bottom and pump my way to the top before I try drop in. That ramp really broke me, and just pumping forwards and backwards was really hard work and requires a huge amount of concentration. It wasn't as smooth transition as the one in your video, even though it was a 3.5ft ramp. After getting to the point where I could touch my wheels on the coping I ended up falling straight down on my tailbone and whipping my neck. My advice is to stop before you get really tired! It required a lot more work than I expected, I assumed it was just rolling up and down but I was sore EVERYWHERE for days afterwards, not just from falling but every muscle. I definitely couldn't have done it consecutive days like you did, even being reasonably fit.
    Keep it up

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  2 місяці тому +1

      yeah my sessions were not too long because I realized how exhausting it was on my body, I cycled 150 miles a week all summer for cardio and even still my heart rate averages like 168 while rollerblading lol ( I have a polar heart rate monitor strap and garmin watch I use to record everything) It really surprised me how intense learning how to do stuff is. I was reasonably comfortable while just riding around and jumping but like you said, once I got to the skatepark it took so much concentration and balance to not fall every single time I got near a ramp... super humbling experience. While I really want to learn how to skate ramps better I think I'm gonna wait until it warmer and I'm more motivated to slam into the ground over and over again lol
      right now if you've seen my latest videos Ive been really addicted to learning grinds, I've got the frontside grind down pretty okay on my metal rail but I am still struggling to commit to soul plate tricks.
      I've taken some massive slams as well and somehow haven't gotten injured? I carry a ton of muscle now so I think that contributes to it, because I honestly use to get injured more as a kid skateboarding and taking slams. I was just like 40lbs less muscle and out of shape completely lol I am 31 now but I'm in some of the best shape of my life so I'm trying to take advantage of it before its too late. Mountain biking is another one of my passions that I plan to step up alot this year

Jumping on Prails and going slow into grinds will MESS YOU UP lol. This vid had alot of great info and tips for those looking to start out. From a beginner to another, turning is the best method to break, just do a 180. Most advanced guys to that. I don't know how much time you had but on the first day maybe more basic maneuvers. Rolling fast, turning, 180, jumping.
    For the grinds more stalls. H block grinds are advanced, more makios and souls. You did it with the frontside at least. Outside of that, more speed. Even if your technique is not on point you'll slide far and won't have to worry about balance because you spend less time on the obstacle. Far more speed and height actually helps, less bending required.

    I’m so glad I came across your channel. This video is brilliant, I can’t believe how brave you are. I started back in December but decided I prefer quad skates to inlines as I’ve always used quads at rinks. I tried inlines at the park but didn’t feel confident at all. I’ve only dropped in once holding onto a friend’s arm while he dropped in with me. I did it the first time, fell on my ass the 2nd and managed to stay upright the 3rd time. I want to do it on my own but it’s scary.

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  Місяць тому +1

      Thats awesome!!! Ive seen some people rip it up on quad skates, doing all types of crazy grinds and flat ground spins. Looks like so much fun, very flowly. I need to spend more time at the rink to be honest, just to become a better skater. Glad you liked the video though!!!
      and honestly its been 2 months and I haven't dropped back in on that ramp, I've done a bunch of much smaller ones but dropping in is still so scary lol its all about commitment though. WE just have remember that we already did it!! We CAN do it again just have to push the fear back.
      Now I think I only fall when I let the fear get to me, but when I tell myself "if you fall you will be fine" then I can do it easyyyy. As long as you have pads you'll be fine!

    Not true about skating backward, just point toe inward and push left and right. When skating forward you would like to point toe outward and do the same, never try to push backward/forward.
    You would like to lean towards the direction you are going. When going backwards, bend your knees and lean with your butt towards the direction like you going to take a seat.
    I go aggressive when I was 34 now I’m 35, it takes time to pick up but it’s fun.
    With own progress/schedule in self mind and pushing through challenges, it certainly works better. Don’t give up.👍🏻

  • @Friskybusiness1
    @Friskybusiness1 2 місяці тому

    an important concept that doesnt get explained enough is the nomenclature of grinds, and how you come off them. technically all of the frontsides you did ended in the "farside" position which is where you jump away from the side you jumped on from. bladers generally prefer the look of landing back on the same side you jumped on from, just so you know what most people consider to be "correct" :). watch some of the jumbo tutorial+ videos for some really in depth better explanations on concepts like these that can help you get better even faster. love the content and hope you keep it up with inlining man.

    • @Friskybusiness1
      @Friskybusiness1 2 місяці тому

      also makio grinds are the grandfather grind. learn the makio before everything else because makio grinds are a requirement to learning any other soul style grinds since you do half of a makio everytime you use your soulfoot.

    • @inlineonline
      @inlineonline  2 місяці тому

      ill check out those tutorials for sure!! Ive been able to jump back on the correctly side with my freestyle frames but for some reason with these roces street frames I feel so unstable and I tilt forward so much. With the kizer x freestyle frames I felt much deeper in the frontside and was able to push off and jump back on the same side a few time.
      And you're right I need to focus on the makio, I can step on a makio and grind it very easily but I still can't jump on them while moving. Stalling is fine though. Learning to jump on the makio while moving is probably my missing piece! I appreciate all the advice it means alot.
      I also have a pair for big wheel skates coming in just to get more time skating around, the anti rocker setup is sooo slow and harsh on my local pavement. Even my skateparks are rough lol
      if you check out my more recent videos I've made some good progress! I ride roces now as well

      Hell yeah brother that's awesome. I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I just started skating again after 20 years and I'll be the first to tell you it wasn't like riding a bike. I took a week of just rolling around and getting used to my new skates before I went to the local skatepark. I'm starting to get all my old grinds back. The other day I did a buttery top Acid. Felt Soo good!! Keep skating! It's keeping us young lol
