Traded in my Tesla Model 3 for a 2024 Mach-E Premium. I definitely fit better in the Mustang just as you describe. At first I thought I’d miss the advanced computer elements of the Tesla, but lane assist and BlueCruise are all I really need. I think the biggest thing I miss is the multiple camera views in the Tesla. Otherwise, no regrets.
I've taken road trips in both. The Model Y is better in that regard as it charges faster. The SC access makes that easier. There is also more room behind the second row in the Y vs the Mach-E. I have the Rally edition of the Mach-E, and I greatly appreciate the improved suspension. I can adapt to the center screen having everything, but I prefer the display right in front which lets me use more the center screen for the nav. Android Auto is huge for me as I use other apps, and getting them from the phone is more seamless than using an app on the car, if there is one.
Thanks for sharing your experiences! The Model Y’s space and charging would definitely make for a better road trip. How’d the overall comfort compare? Are you more comfortable over long distances in the Mach-E? (Particularly with the upgraded suspension?)
@@studzstudios To be fair, they are quite close in comfort. I would prefer to spend the time in the Mach-E. The longest day we did in the Y was 600 miles. I've done nearly 1000 in a day in the Mach-E Rally.
Great video. Suggestion: put something dark like a black t-shirt over the passenger seat to prevent reflected sunlight from the bright white seats in the Model Y.
Your comparison of the subjective aspects of the two cars is really appreciated. It is very hard to find unbiased information on Teslas. I drive a2023 Ioniq 5 AWD which I love but the latest iteration of FSD has we wondering what I'll pick (including the Mach-E) when my lease is up. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! FSD on the Tesla is very impressive, but also expensive. (Could argue cheap for what is it, but depends how much you actually want to use it).
I had a MachE First Edition and later a MachE GT. That was my first dip into the EV life. Really enjoyed both. I just got a 2025 Model Y Long Range (had it about three days). I think the ride and comfort was better in the MachE but the Tech in the Model Y is amazing. So fast - everything you do (button, swipe, etc.) just seems instant. And the coordination with the App, etc. Also, in three years of MachE ownership, I probably charged outside of my house 4 times (3 of the 4 went well). With the supercharger network, I've already charged that many times in four days. Seamless. I absolutely enjoyed my MachE and I think I am absolutely going to enjoy the Model Y. I have three months of free supercharging so I am probably going to plan a road trip to take advantage. It's so interesting because they are very similar/comparable in some ways, but very different in other ways.
Awesome video !! I’ve had my model 3 long range for 3 1/2 years and hate using the screen for everything. I know I can use voice control but I’d rather buttons. I hate that I can’t turn off individual vents. I hate that it doesn’t have android auto or CarPlay. I can’t stand when it slams on the brakes for no reason when in auto pilot on the highway. I hate when wipers randomly turn on when it’s not raining. I hate that the frunk isn’t easier to open. I do love the way it’s smooth, quiet and quick as hell. I’m kinda over my model 3 and gonna give the Mach e a try….
@@studzstudios no old Teslas still have options other than one pedal driving. The drivetrain has not changed only the EPA rules which is why certain cars don't have it anymore
Yeah, I disengaged FSD a couple of times where I wasn't sure what it was going to do. Since this Model-Y wasn't my car I didn't want to take any chances. With some more time behind the wheel, I think it'd disengage/take over less frequently. And yeah, FSD is in a completely different realm than BlueCruise. Although it is more expensive and Ford's BlueCruise is quickly getting pretty reliable for highway driving.
Mach E not impressed with the heads up display. Looks like an aftermarket add on. At least it comes with one though. I love my tesla model y long range duel motor, but is lacking the heads up display. Yes i know i can buy one!
mach e infotainment is not a bad processor but the way they built the infotainment is horribly optimized. Tesla runs buttery smooth and the old tesla processor (intel atom) is still much faster than the mach e and it is weaker than what is in the mach e
Oh, yeah, Tesla's FSD is far more advanced and capable than Ford's BlueCruise. Like I mention at 42:57, Ford's system is pretty basic and not in the same realm as Tesla's FSD. My hope in showing the FSD screen view was to show just how much more capable it is. I gave Ford's system more "airtime" in the video since there's more to explain about what it can/can't do. Tesla's system was a little less predictable, but that's only because it can do almost everything, so you're not sure when it will have an issue. Ford's system is cheaper, but much less capable, especially off-highway.
One thing I wish the MachE had was a type of dash cam/ sentry mode like the Tesla has. The processor is a bit slow also but I quite enjoy my pony.

I appreciate all the comparison! Also, what is that crankling cranking noise when you hard turned left and right with the tesla?
Haha, that was my folded up tripod rolling around on the floor
one pedal drive is no longer in a tesla because EPA testing is on the least efficient mode. One pedal drive is most efficient
Hmm, interesting. I was thinking it'd be related to simplifying the software by just having one mode.

You keep disengaging FSD? Bluescruise does not compare to FSD. It is like comparing a calculator to a supercomputer.

you can turn off one pedal drive on the Model Y.
I couldn't find that option in this 2024 Model Y. I remember seeing it in prior model year Teslas. Where is that option? I don't see it at 22:55

Definitely agree the Mach-E's infotainment software could be optimized to speed it up
You are biased. Rewach the bit on autonomous driving. The Tesla is clearly superior by any means. The recharging was at least somewhat real.

Yeah, Tesla has the better (and less laggy) infotainment for sure.
The Mach E sucks period
Tesla is just iPad on wheels, no quality control. The whole thing seems like a toy car. Mach-E is a real car with better build quality.
The Model Y has some big advantages over the Mach-E, especially the software. What kind of car do you drive @j.9306?
