    Ford's Mustang Mach-E navigation system is not worth a CR_P. I needed to go to the next city for a doctors appointment. I live very close to a main 4 lane highway. As it goes to my destination. It changes to a 4 lane divided highway. Then I exit it onto a 4 lane divided expressway. Finally I exit onto a 4 lane main road through the city. Last turn I am less than a mile from mu destination. Every quick. My return was to city 10 miles below I origin. My friend who live there. He told me a route to his house. I missed the route number to his place. I punched in his address into Ford's navigation. It showed his address. Hit tapped "GO". A blue line showed up on a route. I followed it through all the secondary streets and all the stop lights. Where did I end up. I was at the junction where I exited off the 4 lane divided onto the 4 lane divided expressway. From a simple express travel to a complicated city streets.

    Sounds like you have a warranty issue with your entry into the vehicle. My 22 Premium does not suffer from entry or lagging screen issues. I appreciate the clean info screen. Also, my car is not suffering from the handling and suspension issues that you mentioned. No rattling noise in my Premium.

  • @marryellen7713
    @marryellen7713 5 днів тому

    The navigation system is several times useless. It prefers using Toll roads even when a freeway is going the same place. I also very much have the map scale. "0.02" to about 1 1/2 on the map. I slide my fingers to increase the scale. The with out notice it reverts back to 0.02. You look back at the map and say "What the heck"

    • @studzstudios
      @studzstudios 4 дні тому

      Haha, the built-in navigation is decent for finding chargers and getting range estimates when road tripping. But, agree, it's not nearly as good as Google or Apple Maps on your phone in terms of responsiveness and finding lesser known places.

    I’m coming up on 75,000 miles on my 2021. I don’t hate it, but I don’t care for it either. The Tesla adapter breathes a little bit of life into the car, EA charging is so infuriating. I had PAAK issues really early on, I’ve not had an issue with the entry for a very long time. That said, I will very likely end up selling it and picking up a Model Y.

    I’ve been thinking more and more about getting an EV even though I’ve always been old school with cars needing gas and such, but the Mach E is pretty sporty looking without it looking too modern or sci-fi ish like the Tesla. I live in NJ so the winters do have me kinda worried with it, I remember you saying in a previous video if it’s a little on a hill it might slide down. Does that still happen? Overall I might end up leasing it since then my mechanical issues aren’t a concern just in case and I can always stay up to date with the tech that roles out in future models!

    • @studzstudios
      @studzstudios 4 дні тому

      Yeah, the hill slide down issue is still there, at least with mine. I'm not aware of Ford making any hardware changes in '23 or '24 to address this. I think the best thing you can do is get winter tires, which can be a hassle to get swapped every year. (I used to do this with my old gas Mustang GT). Leasing could be a good option, or if you can find a used Mach-E it probably still has a lot of miles left in it and you'll avoid at least some of the depreciation.

      @@studzstudios ugh well I’m hopeful since the top of my driveway is kinda flat it doesn’t have that issue lol or I’ll use wheel chucks like for trailers haha. I think I’d do the lease if the monthly payments aren’t too high so anything wrong with it it’s covered and I can stay up to date with the new tech every few years

      Not sure what you're asking? You can charge it to 100%, yes. When fast charging (like at a Supercharger or other DC fast charger) the charging speed slows down after reaching 80% and significantly slows down once above ~95%.

    I've had my MME with BC 1.3 for about 2 months now and the thing that has scared me more than once is it accelerating during bumper to bumper traffic because theres a large gap, accelerating too much, then slamming the emergency assist when it catches up to the next car. Really weird.

    • @studzstudios

      What driving mode are you on? I've found Whisper mode eases the acceleration a bit. Also, as you may know, you can adjust your following distance with the button on the left side of the steering wheel. Which one do you use? I usually use "2" when in heavier traffic for it to keep a better pace and gap with cars that are merging and "3" or "4" when in lighter traffic on road trips. I never use "1".

    I own a 2022 Tesla Model 3 and I am not thrilled with the door handles. The car does not require a key, it uses your phone as a key. It does not require a key fob. The entry system works every time, and it opens the car automatically when you approach the car and locks it automatically when you leave. It really works well with the Tesla app on your phone. However, using the door handle is a little awkward. Fortunately, you can just push the door lever on the end in, and it will open the door, so that works pretty well. The unlock and lock system works flawlessly, but you have to get used to the handle. The car also automatically sets the security system when you walk away from the car. This appears to be a good everyday city-driving car, and it looks nice. However, I like the Tesla Model 3 better. Ford's software and UI are behind Tesla's by a very large margin. The touchscreen on the Teslas also is very responsive. It is probably the best touchscreen in the auto industry. The car appears to be very fast, so that works well. As far as ride, my 2022 Model 3 ride is not bouncy, but it is loud. Its suspension is really good, but it is tuned for a sports car, not for comfort. However, the suspension works really well with turns and handling, Many reviewers say it handles as good as a BMW 3 series. I don't quite know what that means because I have never driven a BMW. Overall, the suspension is really good. However, on rough roads, it transmits a lot of sound to the cabin. The new 2024 Model 3 fixes this issue and has much better suspension. I have a small rattle behind my steering wheel, but it is almost inaudible. I also know how to fix it, but I have not had time to mess with it. Other than that, there are no creaks or rattles. It's good that you have wireless Carplay and Android Auto. It should make your driving experience much be better. Tesla has its proprietary UI, which is based on Google Maps, and it is spectacular. My car doesn't have a 360 camera. IHowever, there are seven cameras on the car that give you views on all sides of the car. You do have to change the cabin air filter in the Model 3 every two years or so to prevent any smells from developing. I have never been impressed with Ford service centers. I would not buy a Ford for that reason. I have had Ford dealers lie to me and refuse to fix issues they should address. So far, Tesla is better to work with. A LOT of Tesla's repair costs are very reasonable. I have not found that to be the case with Ford. For example, Tesla will replace both of the radiators on the car for $550.00 plus tax, which is an exceptional deal. They also will provide a key card for $20.00, which is very cheap. You use the key card when you don't have your phone or when you want to add a driver to the car.

    • @studzstudios
      @studzstudios 4 дні тому

      Thanks for sharing all your thoughts! That's good to know about the suspension volume. The Mach-E's is quiet, just bouncy, like I mentioned in the video. Definitely agree Tesla has a huge lead on the Mach-E and the industry in terms of the software and UI responsiveness. Allowing CarPlay/Android Audio definitely helps with this (CarPlay is very responsive for me in the Mach-E). I'm glad to hear your experience getting service with Tesla has been good!

      I don't have any experience with the Ioniq except sitting in one at an auto show. Definitely need to drive one. It sounds like the range is the main factor due to no charging at home? Any other charging options for you, like at work / places you already go for errands? I'd try and test drive both and see if there's any other factors besides the range that helps you decide

    Blue cruise is really a joke. Ford really dropped the ball on that one. I love my 2024 Premium. But hate blue cruise and did not keep it after the free trial. Also, laggy screen is annoying at times. Again, Ford needs to step up their game with that as well. Overall love daily driving with my Mach-E and I'm happy with my purchase, but there is definitely room for improvement on Ford's part.

    • @studzstudios

      You may have seen already, but my full thoughts on BlueCruise (v1.3) here: ua-cam.com/video/A_D1zHFTRJU/v-deo.html When you were using BlueCruise, were you on pre-mapped highway sections where it transitions into hands-free mode? I've had a great experience in the true hands-free mode, especially with the 1.3 update (changes lanes, repositions you in the lane away from large vehicles, etc). The lane-centering only mode where you have to keep your hands on the wheel is pretty limited in features. I still think the $800/year for BlueCruise is a little steep and would probably skip it, mostly because my commute wouldn't benefit from it. A longer regular commute on hands-free BlueCruise would be pretty appealing.

    If you want Tesla rates you need to use the Tesla app and not the Ford phone app or Sync app when you charge. I get better rates through Tesla so I had to remove my cc info from the Ford app as it seems to take priority when you plug in, otherwise. I also keep a white towel in the car for warm days to cover the adapter when in use as the adapter can get hot and it will downgrade your charge speed. Once Tesla V4 chargers are more prevalent (10’ cables), you won’t have to do this constant dance maneuver when you charge at V3 stations with short cables.

      Yeah, good point, you'll want to activate the charger with the Telsa app before plugging in. (Or disable Plug & Charge). I do discuss the discounted rate difference and needing to use the Tesla app (or Electrify America for those chargers) at 4:48.

      @@studzstudios- my order starts with 900. Tried my A2Z just now and it worked perfectly. The plug and charge worked great. On an upcoming road trip, I’ll use the Tesla app to get the discount.

    • @junehanzawa5165

      @@johnmclachlansinger To get the discount, you must sign up for their $12.99 per month plan. Just like the $6.99 per month EA plan or other providers' plans. The difference being is that with Tesla you get even lower prices per kWh on just about every site vs the competition. And of course, you can cancel at any time, so you only have to sigh up for it if you're going on a road trip, or charge away from home often. It usually pays for itself after the first or second charge. You don't need to have the plan to use the app though. It's free to use. The plan is just to get the same pricing that Tesla drivers get. Which is only fair as Tesla built it's network all on their own till now, where it's now getting a little help from the NEVI funds that most red states want to waste away. Tesla is gladly taking it and opening to all on those sites. Plus, of course, the NACS sites it had already built which it's opening up to every manufacturer stage by stage.

    It looks like I had Plug & Charge disabled in the Ford Pass app. I was able to toggle it on by going to the Energy Tab --> Advanced section --> Access & Permissions --> Plug & Charge. If you have issues with Plug & Charge, see Ford's instructions here: www.ford.com/support/how-tos/electric-vehicles/public-charging/using-plug-charge/

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman 27 днів тому

      Weird, I wonder how it got toggled off? You said you've used plug and charge before. Or is it a separate plug-and-charge setting for Tesla?

    • @studzstudios
      @studzstudios 26 днів тому

      @@Crazypostman I recently did a factory reset on my Mach-E to see if I could improve my phone-as-a-key unlock performance. I think that turned off Plug & Charge without me realizing it. I do wish it was a little easier to find where that setting was or if the car would prompt you with an option to enable it when you plug into a charger that supports it.

    I just purchased a 2023 Premium. It was a Manufacture Buyback with 2,100 miles. I don’t have any concerns with it being a buyback as they gave me a detailed report and it still has 30 months of warranty. The car doesn’t have Blue Cruise, as it seems that I would have to purchase a $800 subscription. Is that your experience? Is it worth $800 a year?

    • @studzstudios
      @studzstudios 26 днів тому

      Congrats on the Mach-E. I have a video about this exact topic! ua-cam.com/video/A_D1zHFTRJU/v-deo.html The short summary is my Mach-E came with 3 years of BlueCruise included when I bought mine new in 2022. The $800 question I think will depend on your use case and if you're frequently driving areas where you'll use BlueCruise (commuting / regular roadtrips).

    • @Annette_Hons
      @Annette_Hons 24 дні тому

      my opinion, blue cruise is not worth $800 a year or $75 a month. its not great, you can be driving along a highway and it cuts off then 1 mile later on the same highway it will turn back on. It's sad really.

    • @brucewunderlich4949
      @brucewunderlich4949 24 дні тому

      @@Annette_Hons It seems like the technology is already active. I can drive and the car does everything that Blue Cruise offers, it just yells at me to put my hands back on the steering wheel.🤣 I guess I would have to pay the subscription so the car won’t yell at me.

  • @RB-yj9ng
    @RB-yj9ng 29 днів тому

    First, technology advances rapidly. Secondly, prices always drop. Whether that translates to it being offered in the US is another story. Once a battery advances to a 1,000 mile range and a ten minute charge, it's game over, but there again, it's won't be offered in our soon to be third world country. Move to another country like Mexico, which enjoys the low cost of solar and cheaper Chinese cars, the US caters to legacy car companies and oil overlords.

    • @studzstudios
      @studzstudios 24 дні тому

      The charging infrastructure is another big piece of it, especially for those that can't charge at home. Some Tesla Superchargers opening in North America to all EV's via an adapter will definitely help, but won't completely solve it.

    Looks like your HVB SoH (battery health) is at 91.5% which seems pretty bad for being only 2 years old. Any idea if that 10% reduction is accurately represented by your actual range results in real life? Cheers.

      @studzstudios Місяць тому

      Nice observation. I'll have to check it again and see if it's any different. 91.5% does seem rather low. Reading this forum post this value seems on the lower side: www.macheforum.com/site/threads/tracking-the-hvb-state-of-health-how-much-decline-is-normal.26902/ I haven't noticed anything significant differences in real-life. I just roadtripped the car recently and it behaved pretty much as expected considering the efficiency I was getting.
