  • On this Palm Sunday vlog I'll walk you through the setup we use for our Wiral Lite Cable Cam.
I also grabbed my own in-ear stereo mix and added it to the footage for a few parts.
Watch to the end to hear about what went wrong today :)

I enjoy these videos Ryland. I work as a professional guitar tech for a major country music artist who plays acoustic. We use D'addario EXP coated 80/20 bronze and can typically get about 15-20 songs out of a a set of strings before they sound different or risk breaking. I have four acoustics on the road (when there is no pandemic). The one that gets played most (6 songs per show) gets changes after two shows. It's also used in a three song VIP set. For a worship leader playing every week and possible rehearsals, I would recommend changing every two weeks, or at least once a month.
When leading worship I learned to keep a backup acoustic within reach on a stand. It was a less expensive acoustic but I had the LR Baggs Element in both so they sounded very similar. It saved me a couple of times when I broke a string in a service.

That’s good info! My fav is when my Martin sp lights after 1 day of sitting on the guitar. So true about keeping a backup. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it.

Good job on not letting a broken guitar string hinder the worship. I have worked with people (both church and normal gigs) that will pause the performance to restring their guitar.
Only once have I ever restrung a worship leaders guitar. I was on Sound and noticed when the string snapped, he took off the guitar and placed it on the ground near the edge of the stage (Stage is elevated to about chest height), I then muted the guitar, ran to the side of the stage to quickly grab, restring the A string and tune it back up before the end of the song. Fortunately there was a guitar rack on the side of the stage where I could place it. At that church I was used to running down to the side of the stage to reload batteries for wireless mics(Often) and acoustic guitars(Less Often).
Reload batteries for wireless mics - 5 seconds
Reload 9v battery for Acoustic guitar - 10 seconds
    Restring/tune guitar - 60 seconds

Restring and tune in under a minute?! Hired! 😀

@@RylandRussell helps having a built in tuner on the guitar and a guitar string winder 👍

    Hey Ryland,
(First off, love your channel, great stuff and REALLY well done. Keep it up. You've also hit a nice niche of trad church that moved toward tech, and wise use of budget but some nice gear when needed.)
I saw ur comment on Martin SPs. Those used to be my fav strings but they would corrode quickly and lose tone for me (I sweat a lot) after even a couple weeks. My old gtr would break Elixirs, but once I got better gtrs (solid wood Taylors, 310 & 810) I was able to run Elixirs without breaking. They last better, up to 2 mo but will lose a little tone after 1 mo. I prefer the Medium-Lights which have med lowers for tone but light uppers = easier to play.

Thanks a bunch Paul! I really appreciate that. I’ll have to check those strings out. I’m so bad about changing my strings 🤦🏼‍♂️

No issues with the weight on the cable cam system? We are looking at this setup with our BMPCC 4k. Great video!

Should be ok with a bmpcc 4k as long as you aren't using a huge gimbal. The wiral will prob still work for even heavier setups but the line will sag more.

Okay question! I’m totally binging your channel.
What bitrate do you stream at? And is your audio at 256?
Cause our stream suffers in quality, but when we tried to raise the bitrate from 4 to 8. It did not work. Lol do you use Resi?
    Thanks for the help!

Awesome! We are streaming 5mb on video and 128kbs on audio. I’m waiting on our Blackmagic web presenter HD. Currently we go into Mimo live and that sends to Restream.
