Still use mine and love it. Most recently with the A7SIII and the Tamron 35-150mm for a bandits-running-into-battle shot. Keep up the great work, Jesse.
Great video, thanks ! I was thinking of applying it in an urban environment and also eliminate the need of finding trees or poles to tie it up on. My idea is that two people could climb on some elevated surfaces in the city and securely hold the two edges of the wire simultaneously with about 25m distance between them , while the camera runs. For the initial setup , one edge of the wire would be extended/carried to pointB mounted on a 3m insta360 stick (through thread ring or clip) above any people or vehicles passing by. One of the two people would remote control it to run on the wire in this case. What do you think ?
As of 5-Jan-2025 I see it active on amazon as well as their corporate site. I hope they aren't gone, this is exactly the category I want. Small. Light. Good Price. Tuned for action cams. I can deal with the issues you reveal in your retrospective in order to get those attributes.
@@JesseDriftwood If they are still around, they seem to have switched to a distributor model. At least in the US, EVO Gimbals seems to be selling their stuff. But I've written EVO to see what they have to add. I am willing to buy one tomorrow if the company still exists, but the signs are very mixed.
@ I’d check out the used market if I were you. I’m giving my old Wiral cables to someone local that found a used one for cheap, but it was missing the cables.
Someone ought to be able to open source something similar. That’d be nice. Living in the DC metro, I have to get commercial drone approval for absolutely any aerial shots… for something like an entire 20 mile radius. And some locations are an absolute non-started. These thing presents a decent alternative.
Bought one for Supercrawl livestream concerts back during COVID but didn't use it much. I'd imagine it's sitting untouched in a closet somewhere now if you want to reach out they might part with it.
I hate that remote so much, it has caused so much anger over the years, DO NORMAL EASY TO UNDERSTAND THINGS lol. Great video Jesse, it’s definitely a few years late but Wiral Lite Gang strong 🤘 me and you are the only ones I’ve ever ever known to have these
Hi Jesse, your video is only a month old, so I hope you still have the Wiral Lite CableCam. I've had mine for a few years, but I've never updated the firmware. There have been firmware updates in the past (the latest is 1.5, I think) and they allow the ping-pong movement, where the cam moves back and forth between the start and end points. I've downloaded the two Wiral Lite apps for Android. But when I try to install an update, I get the error message "firmware update file missing". Wiral still has a website online, but it doesn't seem to be maintained anymore and the contact page no longer exists. Perhaps you have an update file that you could give me? Or perhaps one of your followers can help me if someone sees this?
Jesse completely out of topic ... how do you guys keep that huge studio clean of dust ? ... i have a similar studio and i'm struggling with dust laying on top of every light and modifier
@@JesseDriftwood I've been using it with the DJI osmo pocket for over a year now (first with the DJI pocket 2, but now with version 3) and it's absolutely perfect. Beautiful shots, similar to a drone but with significantly longer endurance. I had a "minor" accident though. I lost one plastic stopper, so I printed a new one on the 3d printer, but apparently it had too sharp edges. One day, when my trolley hit the stopper, the cable cut and the camera fell to the ground. I have since started using a steel cable wrapped in plastic (with a similar diameter). I feel more confident with it (and I also bought 250 m of the steel cable for about 40€).
1. This is gonna be a low volume product. 2. It requires some engineering, i.e. R&D 3. To get something of this size to be built well, imo, it will either have to be mass produced or built in low volume production runs. Which means either the vendor will have to buy a lot of parts and then keep inventory or they'll have to have smaller production runs with an ODM. The latter of which will cost much more. I don't think you can build something like this for cheap on a whim, I'd like to be proven wrong tho This is a niche product and unless there's some kind of a Kickstarter or presale, I don't even see the bigger brands picking this up
@@8lec_RThis is exactly right. I know some companies that I could partner with, but unfortunately the market is SLIM. Probably why Wiral never really took off and eventually just disappeared.
Jesse, maybe try the Noxon Portable Wirecam? Heavier loads and seems to have a stronger cable. Of course at a higher price point. ua-cam.com/video/tG1lpc5t6cc/v-deo.html
If you need one let me know as I’ve got mine. Never used it.
Philip, I'd be happy to take it off your hands if Jesse doesn't want it. Been looking for one desperately. 😊
Still you have it?
@@OscarMartinez-qy6qk I have got one !
It's cool the smell that the Wiral motors make when they meet salt water. It's like a robotic essential oil
I love my Wiral, I have had it since 2019 and I still use it all the time.
Why are you so good at this, dude?
Practice & Persistence?
I just checked and that product is still in the market, including on Amazon.
But it looks like the company is gone. Nothing since 2022.. Web site isn't fully functional.

Thanks! I’m sad that mine is fried but Christoph still had one here at the studio so I’ll be fine for the odd shot when needed.
@@JesseDriftwood being with like-minded creative filmmakers is handy. Glad you've still got access to one.
Jesse, I always love to watch your internet vids, no matter whats the topic :)
Thanks!

3:30 😃 Is that a little mouse 🐁 on lower frame right?
Ahaha it'd be cool. I think it's just someone walking through a door on the lower floor😁
What lower floor? That behind him looks like a table
I too would like a Wiral Pro. Seems like a really fun product
Can you replace that cable with a metal one? Do you think that would work to move safely the fx3?
I actually planned on trying just that, as long as the diameter is the same I think it would work fine.

It’s possible, but in general you really want to pull the line as tight as possible, so I’m not sure how it would react to it being handheld.

I would only need just a low priced zipline cable product to use my insta360x4 with. Would you recommend a specific one ?

Also discontinued but the Syrp Slingshot is a version of a Wiral Heavy but you may have to find it second hand.
Unfortunately the Syrp was only built for Timelapse, the Wiral was FAST.
