    Great video as usual from Tirsbaek. Just ordered one of these for my 130 TD5. Also gone for the Double S silencer removal pipe and EGR delete. Booked in with Dan at Storm for stage 2 remap as well. Keep up the good work and if I'm in Denmark with the truck I'll come and say hi. Thanks guys - subscribed

    Bought the mod plus the new turret (about £190 inc VAT & P&P) and it took about an hour. But WHAT a difference, even the missus can now drive our TD5 90 Hard Top. Great mod and great video chaps

    Hi thank you very much. Fitted the slick shift this weekend and I am pleased with the results. The worse bit was I could not undo the grub screw, I bend an Allan key trying so I drilled it out. I have got the spring settings nearly there and will fine tune this week.
    Thank you for the vid.
    Patrick

      You need to apply heat to the grub screw as it is in there with Locktight.

    Don't expect the grub screw holding the bush housing to break easily. My Allen key (very tight fit I might add) rounded off inside the grub screw. Anyway, the old bush can be re-used and it was OK anyway so I left it rather than drilling the thing out. and re-threading etc. It took me around 1 1/2 hrs with all the difficulties en-route. Was it worth it? Yes I suppose so, but make sure the one you buy is less than £100 some companies are charging £180! It nearly put me off.

    I'd certainly be looking at getting one if mine wasn't a MT82 box!
    Couple of questions for you, why do vehicles over there have a sort of half dog-guard behind the driver? Is it a legal requirement? And what is the small dial type thing stuck to the inside of the windscreen, in the same sort of location as we used to have the tax disc in the UK?

    • @TirsbaekTV
      @TirsbaekTV  8 років тому +3

      +Captain Clarke The dog guard is a requirement for vehicles on a 'yellow' or 'yellow-white' license plate (although I'm not sure why). Basically, because of the high taxes on cars in this country there are 3 ways you can register a car: Standard white plate - any car meant for recreational use, family cars/sports cars etc. (150% tax on cars value)
      Yellow white plate (what I have) Recreational and work use - Means you can't have any rear seats but have reduced tax.
      Full yellow plate - Again no rear seats allowed but further reduced tax and requires you to have a registered business (I think) So if you have either of the latter two types, then you have to have a dog guard thing behind the driver's seat and no seats behind the front row. Of course the advantage with a Land Rover is that you can legally have 3 seats (as opposed to 2) and still be within the law. If you wanted for example to order a brand new Defender (not that you can anymore!) with seats in the back, you'd have to register it on the white plates and it'd cost you £40,000-50k, and also you can't go buy a two seater sports car and try and register it on yellow plates just to get a tax break.
      As for the disc, it's simply a parking timer to show when you parked for areas with limited stay times - not a legal requirement but you're kinda screwed without one, and will end up with parking fines!
      Sorry for the long answer, hopefully that made sense! :P

    Hi, would you say that although the throw is less, the gear stick is harder to move? My local garage suggested this is what would happen and I need to check first because I have a bad left shoulder. Thanks.

    • @TirsbaekTV
      @TirsbaekTV  8 років тому

      Maybe a little, but Landy gearboxes often require a little persuasion anyway. I suppose if you are going across (3rd to 2nd for example) it may be slightly stiffer but going straight down gears is effortless. It's difficult for me to judge because I don't know the condition of your shoulder, but I hope could help!

    • @solarbuduk
      @solarbuduk 8 років тому

      +TirsbaekTV thanks, shoulder not too bad, rotator cuff disorder, slick shift will hopefully improve the situation. Have ordered it anyway. Thanks for your view!

    Hey, guys! Gather most of you watching this clip are Defender owners. If so, I wanted to ask about your opinion and share my experience about removing the spare wheel from the trunk door. It has improved the quality of the ride so much, that it is surely a great "mod" to be had at basically no cost at all. I've read that most owners advise against this saying that you may need a spare and that it is illegal not to carry one, but there are modern solutions like foam fillers and on-board compressors that can help you in times of need. Of course, that this is for daily ride/weekend offroad users, not expedition type stuff :D
    What'd ya all think? :)

    • @scottrc5776
      @scottrc5776 7 років тому +1

      You can get x-member mounted swing away spare wheel carriers white take off weight from the door. But if you want to remove the wheel for handling then it may not work for you. Older defenders had them on the bonnet but it makes lifting the hood difficult an it get in the way of you view.
      Maybe try putting a spare in the boot floor.

    So that obviously didn't take 15 minutes ... but it seems worth every minute it took?

    • @TirsbaekTV
      @TirsbaekTV  8 років тому +2

      +Matt Allen It probably took about an hour, although us being idiots in some bits didn't help. If we were to do it again it would easily take 15 minutes. But as you say, so worth it!
