I love this as a bit of redemption for Bill Pullman after his Walter lost his Annie in Sleepless in Seattle
Sandra Bullock is a step up from Meg Ryan, just my preference tho! 😂
Good callback!
That's how I felt when this movie came out too. 😊 Bill Pullman finds his true love too, ❤️
Haha! Yes! Bill Pullman so often plays the nice guy who doesn't get the girl or the nice "other" guy the audience isn't rooting for (like in Sleepless in Seattle or A League of Their Own). So, with this movie, it was nice to see him actually get to be the main love interest for once! ☺I had similar thoughts about James Marsden in 27 Dresses (not as good a movie but, he has a similar career of playing the nice "other" guy with only one movie as the exception).
Walter was a good guy. I felt bad for him.
Another fabulous and funny movie with Sandra Bullock (and Ryan Reynolds, as well as the wonderful Betty White) is THE PROPOSAL. Highly recommend one of my favorites!
Fantastic movie - caught me by surprise!! And Betty White!! She was in Lake Placid w Bill Pullman!
Yes!
Yes!! Outstanding movie. J and Amber will love it!!
Yes!!
Yes!! Such a weird and wonderful movie! I feel like it gets sillier every time I watch it. Lol X)
“You’ve Got Mail”with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks is so good!! ❤❤❤ One of my Favorites! Also try “Speed”with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves!!
I ❤You’ve Got Mail, it’s one of my favourite rom coms…I’ve watched over and over! Yes to Speed as well..classic action movie love story And yes to Working Girl, Moonstruck, and Four Weddings and a Funeral
Have you watched the original version of the movie? It's called The Shop Around The Corner (hence the name of her book shop in You've Got Mail), it's a black/white from 1940 feat. Margaret Sullavan and James Stewart and instead of email pals they're anonymous PO Box pen pals. It's really good, I highly recommend it. 😉👍
I was gonna ask for You've got mail too ! Too good!!
Bill Pulman (Jack) is the President in Independence Day. He also played the father in Casper. He did not play in Twister.
Why do so many people get him and Bill Paxton confused? I don't see it. 😅
Neither do I...Pullman would never say "Game over, man! Game over" in a whiney voice. He is also better looking than Paxton.
@@lilmoonbaby6 Yeah, I would never ever get their faces confused! But, I think most of time it's just people getting their names mixed-up. Paxton and Pullman sound just similar enough to get switched up in the brain.
Yeah Bill Pullman is in a bunch of movies that they've watched on the channel, including Sleepless In Seattle which Amber said is her favourite rom com 🤔😂😂
@jillfromatlanta427 Yes he is and boy can he lean.
Another great Rom-Com is Moonstruck with Cher & Nicolas Cage! Oscar winning!
Watched that again this past weekend.
Snap out of it!!
It's my favorite Rom-Com. 🌝
My thoughts exactly!
One of the best movies ever!
Great reaction. You should watch "Speed". It stars Sandra Bullock & Keanu Reeves. Action!!
I was looking for this comment . ☺️ I loved Speed. I hope they react to it in the future.
I was thinking that too. When they said they hadn't seen any Sandra Bullock movies. You have to see SPEED. Demolition Man is also good.
It's good but my favorite Bullock movie is the oddly underrated The Net (1995).
@@doloresbriseno2567 I'd forgotten she was in Speed. Yes, that was good, too. That was a long time ago!
Yep, one of the three greatest action films ever made… ‘Die Hard’, Terminator 2’ and ‘Speed’! I think they would love it!
Moonstruck moonstruck moonstruck
I second this, such a brilliant film
🌙❤🌙❤🌙❤🌙❤
I'm a 56 year old straight man, former military, former prison officer...and romantic comedies are some of my favourite movies. I love this one and even though I've seen it probably 7 times, it still makes me laugh, swoon and even cry. Sandra Bulloch is my favourite actress and I fall in love with her all over again every time I watch one of her movies. She always comes across as just so sweet and classy.
The story in this movie was very well written and from someone who grew up in a big family, but is now alone, I can really appreciate how Lucy felt.
Yeah I feel there's some sort of taboo about us admitting we love romantic comedies but heck this is the internet, I fully admit I rewatch many romantic comedies, especially today when the cinemas are full of superhero movies and I can't find anything new to watch.
It was very well written; Fresh.
And Joe Jr.
You’re a rare gem sir :)
Really Love MUSICALS...
And, No One in My Family Knows That!! ❤
The grandmother character you like is in Mary Poppins original, she plays the mother of the kids that Mary Poppins looks after, her real name is Glynis Johns. Always loved this movie, Sandra bullock is great in the movie called Speed aswell, maybe check that out guys.
Also starred in 1948's Miranda (I love that movie, lol!). Died on Jan 4 of this year. RIP Glynis.
I love her!
@@Emma-3010oh yes, that's a good movie too, she was a great actress, a sad loss too.
@@steffurnessMe too. 😊
@@steffurness Me to, a great actress, loved her in Mary Poppins aswell.
Oh good Lord! You’ve not seen many Sandra movies. Please consider,
-The Proposal w/ Ryan Reynolds
-Speed w/Keanu
Practical Magic along side Nicole Kidman. There’s a love story in there too.
Hope Floats w/ Harry Connick Jr.
So many more.
Practical Magic is one of the few movies that somehow is both wholesome and creepy af. I love it.
@@steffurness Right?! That is quite impressive. Now, you put the lime in the coconut and drink em both up.
They would love Speed. ❤
Hope Floats…when the dad drives away and leaves the little girl behind… 😭😩😭😩
@@dharris8849 That just rips my heart out.
Sandra Bullock is such a great, great, great actress!! You guys must really, really, really see The Lake House with none other than Keanu Reeves!! Sandra and Keanu have such great chemistry!!!
Yes ! them too ! 🫶❤🔥❤🔥
I loved them in Speed
Yes, the Lake House is really good! Have tissues handy though
Kudos…we were all thinking the same thing.
I think they should do speed first.action for jay and seeing them in their first film together before they made all the other movies each have done in-between.
Peter Boyle was not just in Everybody Loves Raymond. If you have seen Young Frankenstein you have seen him singing “Putting on the Ritz” with Gene Wilder.
He also was a very memorable guest on the X-Files.
Peter Boyle was just a solid, solid, actor. He contributed so much.
@@NavvyMom One of my fave episodes.
@@NavvyMomI loved that episode! That one really sticks with you. I find myself thinking of it from time to time, especially whenever I buy a lottery ticket.
He was also in the Santa Clause movies with Tim Allen.
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal (2009) is a wonderful one!
You guys will love "French Kiss" with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. Very funny.
You would also love "Joe Vs. The Volcano" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. "The Lake House"... another pairing of Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves.
I 💕 French Kiss such an underated Meg Ryan movie. I haven't seen it in so long. I have the French 💋 soundtrack too. I would love it if they reacted to French Kiss.
Great movie and soundtrack. I hope they watch it soon!
Yeah, French Kiss is great!!!
French Kiss is a longtime favorite; it’s hilarious and the travel through France is beautiful!
To add to the Meg Ryan movie list, they need to see Prelude to a Kiss. It's a romance, not a rom-com, but it has some light-hearted moments in it, and it's such a moving story. One of my favorites. :)
One of my long-time favorites!! Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman's chemistry.. 🤌😘
Kate & Leopold is another good romcom. Jay will like the sci-fi aspect of it.
Yes! I watched ANYTHING with Hugh Jackman back then.
Kate & Leopold is a good one!
That's one of my favorites. It's very underrated.
"Tootsie" (1982) starring Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange, Bill Murray, Teri Garr, Geena Davis, and Dabney Coleman, is a romcom that was nominated for 9 Oscars including Best Picture is surely a must see for the two of you.
would love to see a reaction to this movie!!
Absolutely!!! I keep making lists in my head of movies they need to see, and Tootsie is right up there. I had an aunt who was a nun. On her vacation she and a couple of other nuns went to see that movie. She told my parents that they kept their laughter fiercely contained until they left the theater, because they didn't want to look unseemly laughing at some bits, but it was hard because it was so FUNNY!
@@NavvyMom Thank you for sharing this story. TOOTSIE is one of the funniest movies. I love how you don't know how it's going to end. They did a hilarious job.
@@doloresbriseno2567 Without spoiling anything
Director: "How far can you pull back?"
Cameraman: "How do you feel about Cleveland?"
And the most beautiful theme song by Stephen Bishop, “It Might Be You”. That’s right up there with Goodbye Girl’s “Goodbye Doesn’t Mean Forever” by David Gates of Bread in romantic theme songs that get you in the feels.
This is a great movie. This one and "Ever After" were my moms all time favorites and go tos for movies. She made them my favorites too.😊
Ever After is so good!!
Ever After is THE best Cinderella story!
This was my favourite movie for about 15years. I was moving to Japan in 1999 and just before going to the airport I remembered I hadn't brought any English movies with me cause I'd need a few weeks to acclimate. I grabbed two vhs tapes I knew I could watch a 1000 times and not get bored. BBC'S 1995 Pride and Prejudice (with Colin Firth), and While You Were Sleeping. Both served me well and i still love them. 😁
They should watch that version of Pride and Prejudice if they haven’t. It’s a six-episode miniseries which is about five and a half hours long altogether. Totally worth it!
You have wonderful taste!! Haha.😅😉👍
Sandra Bullock has incredible comedic beginnings. Love Potion #9 is one of my favorites
That was such a good movie - Love Potion #9
"Farfignugen."
Let's play the quiet game. Lol X)
I was about to come and recommend it... its a good movie.. an early Sandra Bullock movie that is heartwarming
Love Potion # 9 is great 😊
You gotta see Speed with Sandra bullock and keanu keeves. Its an action romance sorta :)
Bill Paxton is Twister. This is Bill Pullman, you’d know him from Independence Day, Spaceballs and my personal favorite, Lake Placid.
Also in two of the Equalizer movies with Denzel Washington
LOVE Bill Pullman! ❤️
@@charissakington606 He has a very distinct voice, lil gruffish. Oh hey and Casper! Nearly forgot.
I was a loner in high school, and on my weekend at home, I watched this. I loved it. Movies like this made me feel blessed to be home and enjoying the sweet simple things.
You recognize that guy because he was the coach in Bryan's Song! Remember when Gayle Sayers kept trying to talk into his "good" ear?
And one of the jurors in 12 Angry Men. The guy who was anxious to go to the baseball game.
He was also a coach in Heaven Can Wait.
My favorite scene in all of Hollywood history is that random transition with the paperboy wiping out from throwing the paper
I peed my pants when I 1st saw that and we kept rewinding the video tape to watch it over and over 😂
And it wasn't even scripted. He really broke his wrist. They kept in because was funny to watch. Poor kid. 😆
I crack up every single time😂
I have watched this movie dozens of times - I own it - and I STILL crack up at that scene.
This is the role that Sandra Bullock took over Julia Robert’s as Americas new sweetheart. The movie Untamed Heart is an underrated romantic movie with Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei
OMG I loved Untamed Heart. No one EVER talks about that one. Rosy Perez was in that too.
@@NavvyMomSomehow, I've never seen that movie! Lol. One of these days. X) I loved Rosie Perez in the rom-com It Could Happen to You. She cracks me up every time I watch that movie! She really made that movie so much fun to watch. :)
Untamed Heart is one of my favorite. Beautiful story.
Such a fun movie. Sandra and Meg Ryan are the rom-com queens. You might also like Two-Weeks Notice.
I like 2 Weeks Notice a lot 😊
Yes, Two Weeks Notice is a lot of fun. Oh, the Chinese food! Lol X)
I'd also add Reese Witherspoon to that list.
This film really shot Sandra Bullock into stardom. This & "Return to Me" (2000) w/David Duchovny and Minnie Driver are 2 of my favorites. Return is a GREAT, beautiful story & funny. Another fun one is "Look Who's Talking"( '89)w/John Travolta, Kirstie Ally & Bruce Willis voice
Return to Me! Almost forgot about that one! Such a great plot and wonderful acting. Minnie Driver gets a heart transplant and then meets David Duchovny. Turns out she had received his late wife's heart. Duchovny's acting, especially in the scenes where he's trying to cope after his wife died, was superb. And the wonderful Carrol O'Connor played Driver's dad. Wonderful film!❤❤
I LOVE "Return to Me."
@@jrox6091 I STILL need to see that one after all these years! My sister told me how good it was. . . . Umm, I think it was that one. Actually it may have been this one . . .
@@NavvyMom Definitely see it.
Return to me is one of my all time fav rom coms
Somewhere in Time great movie not a rom-com, but a love story with a twist staring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymore. ❤️😊🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
That's a beautiful romantic movie.
Fun movie! “Fools Rush In” is my favorite Rom-Com!🤘🔥
I 💕 Food Rush In. RIP Matthew Perry. Fools Rush In had me obsessed with Gray Papaya's 🌭 in my teens & early 20' s. My father always loved a great deal so after our 1st visit we would never visit NYC without visiting the now closed West Village location. Good times 😊
I second this one!
I third this one!!! I just watched it again right after Matthew Perry died. RIP 💔 Of course, I've probably seen it at least a dozen times or more! 😂❤❤❤
Now you need to do “the Proposal “ also with Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, and Betty White. It is a funny, funny Rom Com.
"It could happen to you" is my favorite.....
That's a great movie. :)
Great suggestion ❤😊❤
One of my favorite rom coms is The Mirror Has Two Faces with Barbra Streisand and Jeff Beidges
That's a good movie. On a Clear Day You Can See Forever is another rom com gem Barbra made that's worth watching. :)
My top two favourite Sandra Bullock movies are The Net (suspenseful thriller) - and Miss Congeniality (hilarious comedy)
French kiss! With Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline.
"Kate and Leopold" from 2001 with Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman is an often forgotten great rom-com. would highly recommend it.
Yes! I'd watch anything with Hugh Jackman.
Also looking for someone to mention "Someone Like You." Another good romcom he did. That might be the second movie I saw him in after the first X-Men movie.
Aw. Kate and Leopold is great too!
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal is EPIC. A must watch!
Practical Magic with Sandra and Nicole Kidman! Love it and the music!
The random paperboy scene actually resulted in a broken arm. It still cracks me up.
I love how Jay said "It's the Natalie Cole Version" growth is amazing
This is a great movie, I would also recommend Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny
Two lesser known rom-coms that I think are fantastic:
1. "French Kiss" with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline
2. "Only You" with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
I think it was Mary Stuart Masterson in Only You
OMG, you've got to watch "Kate and Leopold". Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman. Also "The Favor" starring Brad Pitt, Elizabeth McGovern, and Bill Pullman. There are some wonderful overlooked rom-coms from the 90's. :)
Glynis Johns, who played the grandmother, just passed away last month at the age of 100. The actors who played the father, the mother, and Saul, as well as her boss, have also passed since this was made.
Let’s not forget she was the mother in Mary Poppins!
Two more Sandra Bullock films that you should try are “Hope Floats”(another 90s rom-com with Harry Connick Jr.) and “The Lake House”(really cool time-travel romance with Keanu Reeves)! ❤
Another yes for 'The Lake House'.
Seconding ‘Hope Floats’ as it is such an underrated movie!
@@rosanajaquez3274Yes! I liked that one too. I like Harry Connick Jr. Such a nice guy.
@@NavvyMom I agree! He did a good job as Justin Matisse. And I loved Gena Rowlands as Birdie’s mom.❤️
Oh, you just reminded me of one of my favorite rom-coms, ABOUT TIME, with Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machinaj, and Rachel McAdams. Unfortunately Jay and Amber may never review this gem of a movie because it’s a sleeper that flew too far under the radar to get the recognition and praise it deserves.
Bill Nighy is so good in serious roles that he surprises me everytime he’s in a comedic role. He not only plays the father with perfect dry humor in ABOUT TIME, but a hitman in another quirky rom-com with Emily Blunt called Wild Target. I think it was the first time I’d seen Emily in a dark comedy and it sealed her as one of my favorite actresses.
"Roxanne" 1987, starring Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah is a wonderful rom-com take on the Cyrano de Bergerac story. Very sweet, very funny ugly ducking love story. Another great rom-com with Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks and John Candy is Splash (1982).
J n A, a must are the bridget Jones's Diary, great movies great actors and Renee Zelwegger's British accent is brilliant 8am here in the UK so gotta get back to work looking forward to watching this later with you guys.❤️😊🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I love Bridget jones, so funny!
I love Bridget Jones’s Diary! Notting Hill as well
Hope Floats and Love Potion Number Nine are two more great rom-coms with Sandra Bullock
This one is in our Christmas stack of discs to watch every year. You two need to watch "You've Got Mail." If you've only seen Sandra in Blindside...then try "Demolition Man" and "Speed" and "Miss Congeniality." And you should also try "Singles." Oh, and Bill Pullman is not in the movie "Twister."
Oh yeah, they'll really love Demolition Man with Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone, in it. :D
My favorite rom-com is by far "The Proposal" from 2009. You can't go wrong with Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Betty White!
The grandmother is the actress Glynis John who passed last month at the age of 100. You might know her from another movie Mary Poppins. In that, she played the mother of the children.
We need some You've Got Mail one day.
Yes! Absolutely!
If you love Goldie Hawn.. you will love "Housesitter". It also has Steve Martin. A fantastic rom com. I also LOVE Overboard. My Best Friend's Wedding is another great one. Love watching you guys. So joyous. Puts me in a good mood. Thanks.
Feels like Housesitter doesn't get enough love and attention. I love that movie.
@@jesmasa1 Agree! I love Housesitter. :D
Private Benjamin is great
Walk in the Clouds with Keanu Reeves... a hidden gem!! And The Lake House - Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves
For some reason, your comment reminded me they need to see Brigadoon ... set in Scotland, musical romantic comedy ... they'll love it! :)
THE NEXT SHOULD BE "RETURN TO ME". I promise you will love it.
I'd like to recommend a couple of classic Rom-Coms:
'Roman Holiday', 1953, with Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, Hepburn's first film for which she one an Oscar.
'Sabrina', 1954, with Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn, be sure to watch the original, not the 1995 remake.
'The African Queen', 1951, with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn (the other Hepburn), this one has the advantage of also being a bit of an action movie.
Love Sabrina
Another film you both would love from this genre is "Return to Me". Dean Martin is part of the soundtrack. The supporting cast is hysterical.
Glad you loved this! Can't wait for you to watch Fried Green Tomatoes
I can honestly say that as a teacher in NYC, I regularly ate those vendor cart hot dogs and never once got sick! Mustard and sauerkraut!
One of my favorite Rom Coms. Another you may like is “The Last Holiday” with Queen Latifa. Another of my favorites.
One of my favorites! Now -- you have GOT to watch HouseSitter with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin. You will adore that one! :)
Since you loved this one, I highly recommend "Return to Me" starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. It's a film that gets overlooked far too often and is one of my favorite rom-coms (and I'm a guy).
"Return to Me" has an incredible cast of characters and excellent writing (as well as a unique concept).
Yes! Return to Me is another great movie that the Rob Squad would love . . .
High Society (1956) is one movie I know you would LOVE!!!!! Although it's too old to have been considered a rom-com, it does fit the description, with the added bonus of FABULOUS music throughout. Thinking that might be an overstatement? Just consider the main stars -- Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, & Louis Armstrong, & Grace Kelly -- an actress with a long career as successful as she was beautiful. Still, she left Hollywood after this movie to marry royalty & became Princess Grace of Monaco. Watch High Society as soon as you can. You'll be so glad you did!!! BTW - You reacted to at least one of the songs from the movie (duet with Bing & Louis called Now You Has Jazz) on your music channel & you loved that then. Seeing the whole thing will just make you love it even more!
This is one of my favorites! I watch it at least once a year, usually around Christmas. It just makes my heart happy and Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman are fantastic!!
Three 90’s Sandra Bullock favorites of mine are Speed (a must see with Keanu Reeves), Hope Floats and Practical Magic.
I love, love, love this movie. It's such a fun, feel good film. I love the scene where Lucy is celebrating Christmas with Peter's family. You can see the joy in her face as she is a part of a family again.
3 of my most favorite romantic comedies that aren't rated as “Classic” and how they make me feel at the end.
1 “While You Were Sleeping” - stand up and cheer
2 “The Lake House” - step out and smile at the stars for an hour
3 “A Walk in the Clouds” - refill my drink and start the movie over
Which is the best RomCom? “Sabrina” and it doesn't matter if it's the 1954 or the 1995 version. In fact, you should watch both and not compare them.
Oh, adding a big Yes for the 1995 'Sabrina', Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford.
I ♥️ Sabrina. The 1954 version is tops for me. Audrey, Bogart, Holden & elegant fashion. I agree the 90 version very good as well. It had a lot to live up to so it's great that the Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond & Greg Kinner version didn't fail . Both versions great entertainment 😊
@@philburton2223 From my view, in the '54 version, Hepburn wasn't a strong enough actress yet compared to the rest of the company, and in the '95, Kinnear wasn't up to the standard. In both cases, it was only their second major motion picture working with "A" list actors, and in both cases they were probably in over their heads entirely.
The Proposal, Miss congeniality, serendipity, Ever After with Drew Barrymore, are few of my favorite rom com movies
Fun fact: the grandma is the mom from Mary Poppins! Haha, I adore this one. It's one of my absolute favorites.
This is my absolute favorite movies. I have seen it countless times and I never get tired of it. So glad you reacted to it.
The grandmother, Glynis Johns, is the mother in the original Mary Poppins! Unfortunately, she passed away in January. Brilliant actress. She is also famous for originally sing the song Bring In The Clowns on Broadway.
Another rom-com that has a great family feeling is Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny. That movie also takes place in Chicago.
Sandra has so many great movies. As far as rom coms my fav with her is probably The Proposal.
While You Were Sleeping is definitely one of my favorites and this reaction was so fun to watch!! Another recommendation for a great romcom is How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Also - another Sandra Bullock movie I think you would both like is Speed. It’s an action movie and also stars Keanu Reeves.
Another great Rom Com with Sandra Bullock is 2 1/2 weeks with Hugh Grant.
Two Weeks Notice
The guy Sandra ended up marrying was in Sleepless In Seattle.
Another good Rom-Com is You've Got Mail.
One of my favorites. Also, I love The Proposal with Sandra Bullock.
This is one of my all time favorite movies! Please watch “Foul Play” with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. It’s a comedy and mystery with hilarious side characters!
@lindaporter7288 I love Foul Play. I look for it on streaming services and watch it when its available. Great chemistry. Love the supporting characters also. The two old ladies, her librarian friend, I could go on.
This is another of my favourite movies too! I started to list some of my favourite scenes here but thought that if Amber & J. read this comment I would be giving a little away. I will just say then that it is such a great movie that they will HAVE to see at some point!
*****Amber & J., if you happen to read this comment, "Kojak" was a police detective show with lots of car chases up & down the hills of San Francisco.
I'm really not into rom-coms but this movie is just fantastic, Sandra Bullock is great as always and I think Bill Pullman is a very under-rated actor, they worked together very well in this
This was the number one movie on the day I was born 😊 Also my family quotes this movie all the time. “These mashed potatoes are so creamy”… “hey Luce, this guy bothering you? Cause it looks like he’s.. leaning”.
You would not be the first ones to confuse Bill Pullman (While You Were Sleeping., Spaceballs, Independence Day) with Bill Paxton (Twister, Aliens, True Lies).
Jack Warden was the actor who played Peter's godfather. I saw him in a lot of old black and white movies. He was in a movie called Donavon's Reef with John Wayne and Lee Marvin. That was one of my favorites growing up in the 60s.. ❤
Sandra Bullock is one of my favorites BECAUSE of this movie right here. One of my all time favorites because the family is so real and lovable ❤ and hilarious 😂
I would like to suggest two classics. They are "rom-coms" but the term did not exist back then. 1. "High Society" with Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Grace Kelly & Celeste Holm. 1950s.
2. This movie is a musical adaptation of "The Philadelphia Story" with Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn & Jimmy Stewart. 1940s.
I love both of them and rewatch them every year. But since you have heard the music of Bing & Frank & Louis, you might enjoy them in a movie.
Yes they are both really great. But the carry grant and Katherine Hepburn film is my favourite and talking of those two for screwball comedy and romance bringing up baby and holiday. I love carry grant he hardly ever made a dud.
Sandra Bullock brings kind of the same energy to most of her films. Star presence, I guess? Anyway, if you like one of her movies, you'll probably like most of her movies. She's excellent at awkward moments that have comedic potential. That's her wheelhouse.
Also, you guys shouldn't be scared of eggnog. It has almost 100% the same ingredient list as vanilla ice cream. You just drink it instead of eating it frozen.
Egg nog is really, really good. What google says What does eggnog taste like? It's sweet, rich, and very creamy. Think of a glass of custard or melted vanilla ice cream! But it also has a slightly spiced flavor thanks to the cinnamon and nutmeg.
& Rum. 😁
Jack , played by Bill Pullman, you saw him in Lake Placid and Space Balls!!And Sleepless in Seattle!!
This one is my favorite movie of all time. My mother and I watched this together. Watching movies together was our favorite time together. When Harry Met Sally is in the top 5. You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle and the miniseries Pride and Prejudice make up the complete top 5. Thank you for watching this one!
I appreciate all the other comments regarding this charming abd delightful movie. One can very easily fall in love with Sandra Bullock in this role not only because Sandra is both beautiful and CUTE but her character, Lucy, is so very alone and deeply deserving of companionship and love. That should make us all all the more grateful for our own famies. I'd like to add that, being Catholic myself, if you watch it a second time you'll note many references and images to Catholicism including a rosary and an image of "Our Lady of Guadalupe."
My favorite Rom-Coms star either Sandra Bullock or JLo or Julia Roberts. Sandra in The Proposal and in Two Weeks Notice. Lopez in Maid in Manhattan and The Wedding Planner, and Julia in Runaway Bride and My Best Friend's Wedding. And one that has to be seen because it is an Oscar winner but a Romance at heart, Moonstruck with Cher and Nicholas Cage.
Fools Rush In is one of my favorite underrated rom coms.
This is one of my top 10s in two different lists: Romantic comedies, and Christmas movies. Fantastic movie, and I'm so glad you guys got to experience it. This is peak Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman at his best, and has an amazing supporting cast.
One of my favorite rom-coms and probably the source of my crush on Sandra Bullock.
This movie is my Christmas Tradition.
Bill Pullman (Jack) was in Sleepless in Seattle as Walter. He was in other films like Spaceballs, Independence Day, and A League of Their Own.
Elsie, the Grandma, was played by Glynis Johns, an English actress. She mainly did stage work, but one movie she did is a classic...Walt Disney's Mary Poppins, as the suffragette mother of the kids Mary Poppins looks after.
I can’t believe they haven’t done Moonstruck. We could even count it as another movie about brothers.
Hint, Bill was your favorite American President fighting aliens alongside Will Smith. He was a ghostly dad in Casper, and a very intense serious actor in a recent psychological television series . Women fell in love with his iconic humour, charming smile, and the shy the little head tilt. His comedy timing in Space Balls is iconic. Love this era of romcom's. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
The bike crash was a real accident. When that happens, you keep it.
The dad was the monster in Young Frankenstein. The brother is Bill Pullman who was not in Twister. He was in Spaceballs and Independence Day as the President.
Sol was Jack Warden who you saw younger in Brian's Song and as the coach in The Replacements with Keanu.
This movie's plot is thicker than Peter's eyebrows! lol It's one of my FAVORITE movies - especially at Christmas time - and I'm SOOOO glad it's starting to get the glory it deserves. It's kinda weird, though, for people to associate Sandra Bullock as a serious actress because (at first) she was exclusively comedy. In fact, Speed was the "vehicle" for us movie goers to see Keanu and Sandra as serious actors! But, i LOVE Sandra in comedies - Two Weeks Notice is hilarious, as is The Proposal and Miss Congeniality. I haven't seen it in awhile to say if it's great or not, but one of her first movies is a comedy called Love Potion #9 (based on the song). i LOVE Bill Pullman, too. He played Lone Star in Space Balls, he was in Lake Placid, a League of Their Own, and was the President on Independence Day. For Halloween, you could watch him in Casper and/or The Grudge!
Practical magic, Bridget jones diary, You’ve got mail, Splash… many more rom coms to go 🥰
