AWiseMoose! I’ve seen so many of your FCs, can’t believe you’re here. (I might have even sourced your Song of the Century FC for the vid😅) Thanks so much for checking out my video, I appreciate it!
People who say how Rock Band is dead should go to any con that has a Rock Band set up and see how long the queue is for your song to come up, it takes awhile. People still think Rock Band is a fun time and with how often people still make customs for Rock Band 3, its still beloved by everyone
@@Darkshock25 Also, not sure if this is true or not, but I heard that some people are trying to extract songs from Fortnite Festival to be use as customs as well
Recently my A/V teacher dig up his old guitar hero world tour instruments and at the end of the school year he set it up for us to jam out. It was amazing.
That's amazing, and kinda what I hinted at in the ending, there's no way kids out there didn't experience Rock Band/Guitar Hero through school, it was just way too frequent
I can’t believe this video is real haha. Every time I would think back to those original setlist examination videos I never thought we would see anymore, let alone one for every game left! I Just wanted to say thank you for making the best Rock Band videos on UA-cam. (:
First off, I want to say that this video was unexpected, but welcome being shown on my recommended. I honestly thought this series was gone for the longest time, but I'm glad you finally got around to making a final part to this series. The previous videos were very entertaining for me in late high school years. And second, I would also like to say that Rock Band was also a very big part of my life as well, as it also got me into music. Hearing This Calling by All That Remains being played on Rock Band 2 by my fam really intrigued me and it that would eventually become my passion. I live for music, I collect music, and had it not been for Rock Band, I probably would've gotten into music far later than I did. I've spent countless hours of my life playing Rock Band 3, and it was all worth it. Playing the game with my fam was always a fun experience. Though on a sorta different note, at some point, I plan on making a whole video talking about songs from the Rock Band Network, because RBN was actually what my music taste revolved around during my teen years, and it introduced me to a bunch of bands I would've never heard of otherwise. There's actually a particular song from Rock Band I'm gonna make a whole video about because of how allusive it was to me for years. I was actually hesitant on making the RBN series of videos as a whole, but your video singlehandedly inspired me to make it.
You absolutely should! It's the area I know the least about (besides exports) so I'd be interested in learning all about it, and whatever this allusive song is... We need more Rock Band video essays out there, ya gotta help us out haha. Thanks for the comment, I never even thought about how RBN could be an introduction into a deeper music world, I imagine a lot of those songs were from more "underground" bands and that lead you into discovering more elusive hits? Maybe we'll learn all about it in your video! Thanks for watching and sharing your story o7
The legend has returned! I remember watching your initial rock band setlist videos back in high school and absolutely loved them! Now I’m almost done with university and it’s a pleasure to see you finish the job! Thanks for reminding us of the wonderful and not so wonderful songs Harmonix has included in their Rock Band games!
Hearing the timelines of you guys is insane, I feel like I gotta pat everyone on the back for their graduations lol, means a lot that people were loving these things back then, and congrats on getting thru Uni!
@@Ajakes It really is, it’s crazy to think I was watching your rock band videos during free blocks in high school to now pulling all nighters studying and finishing up my degree, and I’m still coming back to watch your videos! Thanks again man for the quality videos regarding rock band and for the wishes on my degree! As a life long fan who has a lot of similar experiences you had with the game when we both were a lot younger, it’s great to see people still show their love for this amazing franchise!
i just recently had my own comeback UA-cam video not too long ago, but this blows it out of the water. hopefully we both continue to make cool stuff! i really like your style! entertaining but also incredibly informative about a subject you're passionate about. that's a recipe for success right there. super funny video. kept me entertained the whole time. i wish i had kept our Rock Band stuff from when i was younger but alas, it's all gone. makes me want to get buy all the shit i'd need for it so i could relive the glory days. welcome back, and i hope you're here to stay!
Hey that's awesome, glad to have you back! And thanks for the kind words, Rock Band instruments can be kinda difficult to source these days, but used stuff is always floating around out there (although they are making new instruments for Fortnite Festival which I believe will work with Rock Band 4). Appreciate the comment, and let's both put some rad stuff out there!
i first watched this series and found your channel when i was a freshman in college, struggling to get dlc songs working on my wii alongside customs...i've graduated now, transitioned to rb3dx, and also have a little over 90 custom songs of my own i've charted with a lot more to come. thanks for finally finishing it up - i attribute your mini retrospectives to my revived love for the series. i'll try to release an on avery island pack for you soon lol
bro you're gonna make me emotional lol. I can't believe one of the wizards who mods the game now used to watch my videos, and 90 goddamn songs?? That's insane dude, good job! When I was younger, modding the rhythm games seemed like such a perplexing, monumental task, and now that I see that half the people doing it are younger than me, it makes me so damn happy 🥲 Keep killing it dude, and if I ever actually see a Mangum pack I'll flip my lid lol
Omg thank you so much for the shoutout at the end. I am super glad that my sheet was able to help you get info. Always happy to see more people that are into cataloguing and wanting to complete lists Some corrections I should add: At least on the way that I heard it interpreted. You said that Imagine - John Lennon is the only song where the Keys chart was moved to Guitar in RB4. While it is the only base game song to do this, the other DLC songs that had no guitar but keys also do the Keys part in RB4, the full list being LoveGame - Lady Gaga, Make Some Noise - Beastie Boys, The Only Time - Nine Inch Nails and I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner Mentioned in your IOS segment, but Roxanne and Dirty Little Secret weren't European extra songs, but Wii ones. I think I will take the fall as the color on my spreadsheet to indicate something funky was marked the same between the Euro and the Wii songs (the notes do say they are wii though). This definitely had bias as a Wii European (well Aussie) so I wanted to have my Rock Band 1 listed together. Sorry about the confusion D:
Another correction that I just remembered. Technically there is an 8th song from RBVR that a currently RB4 player would not be able to get, in this current state anyway. Alive - Pearl Jam, while in the RB2 export, has was never rewound (every other classic Rock Band song in the game were all eventually/already rewound). There is Alive (Live: Drop in the Park) - Pearl Jam which is still purchasable in RB4 however. Also another thing that should have been brought up with RB4 is that (almost, example Tomorrow - Silverchair got forgotten) every song that appeared Prior to RB3 had Harmonies added to them when applicable, both DLC and Exports. In RB3 only RB3 era stuff, Green Day, Country Track Pack 2 and Pearl Jam (likely due to a cancelled band game) had harmonies. That said many of the RBN1 Rewind songs were sadly lazily ported over and are missing the harmonies (some songs do have them like the 30 song pack songs, or other random picks like Flight of the Conchords (this is likely due to when the Harmonies Project was still in the chart what you want phase, before the oh wow we're official phase)) You also never mentioned the 3 Pre-Order songs for RB3, which are Blue Monday - New Order, Burning Down The House - Talking Heads and My Own Summer (Shove It) - Deftones
PikedPike! Your chart is so well made, even my Excel finance friends were impressed by your organization skills when I shared it at the party lol. Whenever I make my own spreadsheets now (cause I love lists and I’m insane) I use docs like yours as examples. Anywho, apologies for so many errors lol. The Wii stuff isn’t even your fault, I’m looking back now and I see I mislabeled it back-and-forth on like 3 of my documents. In hindsight, I’m so glad I added those Corrections sections just in case haha, so much stuff people are pointing out is so obvious now, how did I miss any of this?? So happy you got to see the video! Just know on some random nights out there, a bunch of drunk friends are scrolling through your spreadsheet…
Added this stuff to the syllabus as well, thanks for the help. 👍 Also quick question: I thought Less Talk More Rokk debuted on Unplugged as well, but the 360 Marketplace lists it as being released before Unplugged, on 04/12/2009? I do see that the Freezepop pack with Less Talk More Rokk in it was released after Unplugged though. (IDK if you’re an Xbox user but I figured I’d ask)
@@Ajakes So I was worried when I saw that, so I did a bit more digging (I am also not an xbox player so I thought I must of overlooked something). I went on UA-cam to find any videos of the song and the oldest I can find is from Sep 9th 2009. Heck another video of the same week mentions that the song was in Unplugged already. So I went to the Xbox Marketplace to check and I do see that the date listed is does say 4/12/2009, however I think somehow you stumbled onto a European Store. Because on the same page, it shows which games it is compatable with, it shows Rock Band 1 and it's release date of 23/05/2008, in otherwords the date is DD/MM/YY. So in actually the Xbox store is showing the 4th of December, not the 12th of April. I do not know why the single released so much later than the Sep 8th date I am finding. So I went and found Freezepop 01, and that store page is American and actually does show 12/5/2009 (the extra day is probably a timezone issue). But now I am more confused because this is like 4 months after it has supposedly released and we have footage from the date listed on both Rb4.app and Wikipedia. I tried to find facebook posts/tweets from the time from official sources, but the Facebook isn't that old and the Twitter was just talking about the release of the Beatles Rockband that week (as well as PAX) and nothing about any DLC at all. While this has stumped me, I can say with 100% confidence that Less Talk More Rokk debuted in Unplugged. I don't blame anyone for getting it wrong, weird the default google link is to Irish Store (had IE instead of US), and the segment was after Rock Band 3, so the person remember playing it in RB2 was correct that yeah it did release in RB2. I am just everything to be catalogued to the best of accuracy
@@PikedPike Oh god you're 100% right, I was looking at the Euro store lol, my bad. Yeah, my gut feeling is it appeared in Unplugged, and after all the digging you did, I trust you. Thanks for getting that squared away, and for being so diligent on this stuff!
One thing worth noting; the Country Track Pack 2. If you want to play any songs from that in RB1/2, you have to get the export from the track pack; the DLC only works in RB3. However, the DLC versions do add keys/harmony charts (and pro upgrade availability where applicable). I believe the two versions of these songs get reduced to one in RB4, in the same way other RB3 versions of songs do (Bon Jovi, Queen, etc). Also, all 21 tracks from this track pack were released first on the track pack, with DLC releases coming later (this is why the multiple versions exist; once RB3 released, no future DLC was compatible. The CTP2 disc came out before RB3, but the DLC release was after.)
That’s actually really good to know. I’ll add it to the delisting part of the syllabus so people know they can’t just buy the RB3 tracks to have them in 1/2. I’ll add the other nugget of info to the Track Packs section. 👍 Thanks for the help.
@@Ajakes Not really needed as a thing, but fun fact, the direct Export includes Harmonies in RB3 (just not the keys, the RB3 version was needed for that). And unlike the Queen RB3 versions that were full recharts, the RB3 versions of CTP2 are the same charts, just with keys (leading a lot of confusion/annoyment with Ring Of Fire's guitar chart). Meaning that Mama Tried - Merle Haggard and Sideways - Dierks Bently have the exact same charts between the original version and the "RB3 Version"
i feel like you should've mentioned that rivals came with 24 of it's own songs (plus an additional 20 songs that are debatable on if they count or not), rather then the pre-order bonus it came with
I still remember my mom going to every store in the city trying to find Rock Band around Christmas 2007 when I was a kid. Rock Band showed me different bands and genres I don't think I would've listened to otherwise. It also taught me how to play drums and I asked for a real drum set for my birthday a couple years later. I still to this day play drums
Dude that's awesome, just that little snowball effect in 2007 got you playing a real instrument. (Also props to your mom, those Band in a Box sets were tough to find sometimes)
21:53 "this does not work the other way around" on PlayStation it actually does! Buying any RB1/2/3 DLC song on PS4/5 gives you the entitlement on PS3 as well!
31:18 Unplugged's DLC can still be found on the PS3 PS Store (which is still live), the PS Vita Store is also still live too (Unplugged DLC cannot be found there) "Renegade" by Styx got delisted in 2016... except on Unplugged, still available to buy today
I have to thank the algo for showing me this video. I’m absolutely in love with how you edit and just talk in this video. Going to give more of your stuff play time after I’m done with this I’ve loved rockband growing up so this is truly something I want to consume.
@@Ajakes rock band is one of those games that I also experienced like you. We got the whole pack for Christmas and me and my friends played it for years. I’ve moved onto Clone hero now for playing anything, but my guitar is dying slowly. Wish I had the money to get another one
Holy shit I watched those old RB Setlist vids as a kid, now I’m the same age you were making those videos, also working on a series about Guitar Hero and Rock Band. What an excellent ending to the series, thank you so much for these funny little videos 🫡
That's so crazy, you're at the RIPE age for rhythm game introspection, at least from my experience! Thanks for catching the finale, and enjoying the vid 👍
Surreal to see you return with these, I made the FOB comment back almost 4 years ago on the first or 2nd video in this series, cannot wait to watch it in full lol. Edit: after watching in full, tsym for these videos, as someone with a few Rockband games (Mostly 3 and Lego) and practically remember my dad playing the original guitar hero as a kid, and also inhaled any music taste from my parents, I loved the setlists. A lot of my favorite songs now like Monster or Tick Tick Boom came from playing them on Lego Rock Band and Had my fair share of memories of playing with my friends or my family. While I only commented 4 years ago about Dead on Arrival's addition over other FOB songs, I kept coming back to watch these videos, even now. Thank you for this amazing deep dive !
@@LocalTorchwoodIntern I stole a lot of my music tastes from my dad too lol, it was really easy to discuss bands once Rock Band came around, and he got to tell me all his stories of seeing those bands play live. Great memory. Glad you came back to finish the series, and now we got a lot more FOB to play! I appreciate the comment!
This is bringing me back to when i was 13 first watching this series. Literally stopped everything to watch this, it's amazing and you've never stopped being funny.
Such an amazing piece of work, great to see the community is alive and kicking, feel lucky to be around through GH1 and beyond, the joy and excitement of weekly dlc, the new equipment and games, through to clone hero, yarg. Long may it continue even in my 50s ... thank u again
Ey thanks for watching! I wanted to release it before the xbox 360 marketplace shuts down, so it was a hectic couple of weeks getting it all together quick lol, but I'm glad you liked it! And considering the responses and hearing the stories from people, I'm so happy I pushed through and finished this thing. Reading people's personal experiences with this game is what I live for.
17:11 Fun Fact: All of the previous Rock Band games have pro charts, even Beatles (but I guess no exports stopped them). They probably had the idea for pro drums since the beginning.
I watched the earlier videos in this series *religiously* back in 2017 and it is so unbelievably satisfying to finally have a conclusion all these years later! You truly are *THE* Rock Band fan. Also, I'm pretty sure you can still download the Rock Band Unplugged DLC, but you have to do it through the PS3 store. After buying the license, you can either plug your PSP into your PS3 and install the songs, or you can hop on your PSP and go to the "download again" section on the PSP Store (obviously using the same PSN account). I'm not 100% certain that the songs are still available, but I downloaded a bunch of them back in October 2022, so they were at least around until then (but Toxicity and Under the Bridge were already delisted at the time).
Ha, I had no idea! Learning how much people watched this when they were younger through comments, sorry for making you all wait so long! But thank you for checking out the video, and yeah, someone corrected me earlier, some of the Unplugged DLC is still good for purchase, I thought it had all left after reading the headline shutdowns when researching.
Relating to the hypothetical around 1:10:50, there’s a group called Animal Flag that got a song included on this “local Boston artists” pack that Harmonix put out during RB4. I liked the song a lot, and later found out the band was putting out a new album and doing a small run of shows along the northeast US, stopping in Philadelphia one night. I went to that show, and after they finished their set, I told the frontman that I found them through their Rock Band feature, and he was super stoked.
idk if anyone has said this but with GD:RB they wanted to include pre dookie songs but couldnt due to the process harmonix used at the time would have destroyed the master tapes
yeah I showed the article headline on there for a very brief second, I believe it was from the Kerplunk era, Tre said they wanted to but yeah, would've wrecked the tapes. (I still would've taken other options!)
Just when we thought he would never return, he does! I love these videos and am glad you finally came around to wrapping it all up! I even learned a few things like how you can still buy the pro guitar upgrades to this day. Rock Band might be over, but its spirit and ability to bring people together will never die!
I haven't watched this yet... but thank you so much for finally giving me and everyone else closure with this great series ❤❤ I'm such an absolute nerd when it comes to Rock Band and Guitar Hero setlists and I look at these videos with such appreciation and joy. Once again, thank you so so much!!!
your videos consistently have a magical way of getting me to sit my ass down and shut up for over an hour at a time, it's incredible. much love ajakes, your videos are great!
man, i really enjoyed this series! amazing work! i know ill be rewatching these videos several times as time goes on. you really captured the passion a lot of us have for this series and i thank you for your service~ o7
Bro, you really did you homework. I'm glad there are still people passionate about Rock Band 3 as I still love my Xbox 360 version. I just downloaded over $1,500 in RB3 and Rocksmith music upon learning the store was closing. It was because of those games that I finally got the courage to learn a real guitar and bass. Greatest video games in the history of gaming. After watching your video about the delisting, it makes me even more grateful to have downloaded the Metallica and RHCP tracks as soon as they came out. To this day, Ride the Lightning is still one of my favorite songs to play on expert drums.
YOU GOT THE METALLICA TRACKS goddamn man I'm jealous. Out of all my losses, that one is the biggest, especially since Enter Sandman was never exportable. I've also been going on a spending spree picking up RB3 songs (and Pro Upgrades!) so I'm with you there lol. Maybe those Pro-Upgrades can teach me something... Thanks for watching the video!
@@Ajakes I went nuts with all the rhythm games when they came out. I cut my teeth February 8, 2008 when I bought Guitar Hero III for the Wii. I liked the Xbox 360 versions better(because of storage capacity) so I bought all the Guitar Hero games and eventually exported them all to Warriors of Rock, got both DJ Hero games and all their DLC and all the Rock Band track packs and tons of DLC to where I now have 1931 songs on RB3. When I graduated college and left the UT Pride of the Southland Marching band in 2003 as a trumpet player, I lost that rush I felt performing music and these games brought that feeling back in a whole new way. I discovered I actually had a decent singing voice and learned how to earn free drinks with it at karaoke night several times. It really saddens me how the game designers ran the games into the ground with over saturation because all these years later, people still crave that group experience of rocking out together, even if it is on plastic instruments.
@@911_In_Real_Time Congrats to your song list, that's insane. I wanted to pick up DJ Hero cause I remember trying it out as a kid and liking it a ton, might have to find one on ebay. Glad that Rock Band got you back into music again, it's got a magical way of doing that, AND it got you serenading people lol that's awesome. I feel like if they let my on the mic at karaoke, they'd throw the drinks AT me. Appreciate the followup, (and sorry for the late reply).
Oh my god, I remember watching in like, 2018 man, back when I was getting back into GH/RB. I always came back to the vids, they were funny as fuck and I loved how quick and snappy they were too. I randomly got this video in my recommended and nearly screamed, thank you for doing this and thank you for your words at the end as well. This series, these games, would be lost parts of history if not for the dedication and passion of the community and Harmonix, and this video is just one example of that passion. Thank you man, Thank you
Thank you for the comment, and enjoying the ending! I mean it all, the community really keeps this stuff alive, I'm so happy people are continuing to rock out even when things are getting finished.
not bad for a 5am watch, I'd say. Its always nice to have a moment where you don't feel alone in liking something. I'm still waiting on a new guitar controller to arrive but once it does, you best believe I'm workin my way up those RB4 leaderboards 💪
After watching at 1:09:27 I remember back in middle school, which was between 2008 and 2009 we would all gather up at this one friend of ours named Sergio, cause out of the whole group during the time he was the only one who had internet, access to Xbox Live and LOTS of dlc songs for his rock band 2. We would spend almost every weekend playing as a whole band locally or online with other players for hours while snacking out on some pizza from Totinos or Digiorno and sometimes my friend's dad would bring us Whataburger too. Even Sergio's dad would also jump in to play with us, since he was the one who would buy all these dlc songs and was a huge metalist too. Rock Band definitely kept us together and definitely had conversations going, we would talk alot about the artists featured in the game about the good stuff and would criticize the bad from them too. Sergio's dad would even talk us about concerts he's been to of our favorite bands featured in Rock Band but many more, from 90s and 2000s, he would have us all interested that we all would wish we were there too. One of the most memorable moments I had playing Rock Band 2 with the whole gang was when we played through the entire album, The Great Southern Trendkill by Pantera with the tv volume to the max! And we would switch instruments between songs except for Sergio's dad, who went vocalist for the entire album, which mad respect for the guy. Definitely a time I will never forget and what I truly miss of 7th gen gaming🥹
@@Tribal_Soldier Ha, that’s amazing. I feel like everyone had the 1 friend who owned all the instruments growing up, and everyone just migrated to their place and ate a bunch of pizza (happened to me!). Sounds like you guys had an amazing time, shout out to Sergio (AND Sergio’s dad!). Those are some precious memories right there, don’t forget em. Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing!
Thank you Ajakes, Adam, however you want me to address you, for not only making this series but for finishing it and indulging me in my hyperfixation indirectly through video form. I am glad i am not the only one who thought about these games like this.
I gotta say, this is such an incredibly well crafted video and the first I've seen of yours so I can't wait to binge the rest. Love the delivery and editing style. I started playing real drums because of playing Rock Band 1 in 2008. Since then I've toured the world, played covers of some of these songs live, teach at a music university and even played with/met artists featured in these games and I always tell them the first time I heard their music was through these games. All thanks to Rock Band! It's my birthday next week and I've convinced my boyfriend to drive me to a second hand store 100 miles away to pick up a copy of RB4 I just reserved. It may sound cringe but, it's not just plastic instruments. I owe my life and career to this game series. Once again thanks so much for the hard work and I'm an instant subscriber. Let's play RB4 online sometime Hahaa
That's incredible. Stories like yours are exactly the ones we should be highlighting, this series was such a powerful introduction to music for SO many people out there, I had no doubt in my mind that this game spawned some musicians haha. That's crazy though, touring the world and actually PLAYING the songs live, you really lived it ha, AND now you're teaching too, bravo. I'd be curious to hear the artists' reactions when you say you were introduced to them through Rock Band, sometimes I wonder if they even know their song is in the game lol. Regardless, thanks for sharing, and enjoy RB4! I think the updates have made it great now.
@@Ajakes Here's the reactions I remember. I told Chad Smith that the first time I heard Blood Sugar Sex Magik was through RB DLC, he was stoked cuz he played the game with his kids a lot. I played a show with Glen Matlock of The Sex Pistols who took a long drag of a cigarette, blew it towards me and said, "you bloody kids and your technology" Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden did a hearty laugh when I told him that finally passing Run To The Hills on expert drums was one of my proudest moments. The other day I was conducting some exams and this snooty classical examiner with me asked me, "where I trained regarding my piano studies" I told him Rock Band 3 baybeeee! He had no clue what it was. Honestly am so excited to pickup my plastic guitar again
@@conorrossharrington9054 I feel like these stories could honestly be their own video for you if you ever wanted haha, that's incredible. I'm actually gonna save this comment in my notes cause this was exactly something I was curious about. Loved reading this, thanks for sharing!
@@Ajakes Thought you would find this funny but I just bought rock band 4 from the hometown of one of my friends who has a track in the game (Skindred, Stand for Something, DLC) and his response was, "Really? I never knew haha." I guess labels were just licensing songs out there. Thanks again for inspiring me to pick up the plastic guitar one more time.
I remember trying to record gameplay of all the expert charts of the RB:Mobile J2ME and iOS versions, but stopped after a few when realizing that it would have taken ages with having to go through a song 4 times (one per instrument). You can see the ones I did by digging through the Rock Band wiki and hoping to find the videos
Lol yeah, after playing Unplugged and then the iOS version back in the day, I feel like my brain was stuck on lane-switching eternally, and I just get restless lol, got no time to do a song 4 ways in a row. I'll dig through the wiki, curious to see how those charts looked o7
Minor correction: by either setting All Instruments mode on or completing a challenge where you 5 star 50 of RB3’s songs on Medium or higher, you unlock the ability to play the adapted 5-lane key charts on a guitar, so the joke about playing Imagine’s piano on a guitar only being a thing in 4 is incorrect.
Super correct, although slightly more details about this goal. It has to be done on Guitar and it is 50 5 Stars on Medium OR 3 Stars or higher on Hard or Expert.
I've never seen your channel before, but man your energy is absolutely infectious! It was a fun listen all the way through! I was more into guitar hero growing up, but this got me pretty curious! Makes me kinda wanna collect the pieces for a full rock band set to experience a lot of this (though... That'll have to wait til I'm not in a tiny apartment lol). Good stuff! I should have been asleep hours ago but I forsee a binge of your channel in my future. I see that Sonic the Hedgehog video there and I know you're my kinda guy lol
Once you move out, those drums are waiting for you... Thank you so much for watching, and please do check out the Sonic vid! If you're into the hedgehog at all I think you'll get a kick out of it, I was hyped making that the same way I was hyped making this
Great Video. I've been waiting for this for years, and it did not disappoint. Also I just wanna point out something at 3:10 I noticed that its says 2014 for the release of American Idiot. Also Last Of The American Girls is shown on the on disk setlist for GDRB even though that was DLC.
"Kept you waitin', huh?" - Ajakes Seriously though, it's awesome to finally see this series conclude. Your setlist examination videos actually inspired my "Recurring Guitar Hero Songs" video (as clunky as that video is lmao, it was basically just a list of every song in the franchise that appeared more than once). Maybe sometime I might try to give all the Guitar Hero games the setlist examination treatment myself. Who knows?
You totally should! I’d love to see it, I'm super curious how things went on the Guitar Hero end, especially cause of Smash Hits. Will have to give your video a look. Thanks for watching the finale!
Rock Band introduced me to a lot of my favorite bands and songs. Blackened became my favorite Metallica song because of this game (and also because they added the bass back). I would have never listened to The Police if I didn't buy Synchronicity II. The Rock Band version of Ziltoid the Omniscient by Devin Townsend is one of the funniest things ever made. My dad buying Dark Horse by Converge was how they became one of my favorite bands, I even got to see them play it live last year! These games made me love music to the point I wanted to play bass. The greatest gaming experience anyone could have is playing Rock Band with a full band. AND I'M STILL UPSET WE ONLY GOT ONE MONKEES SONG! AND IT WAS ONE OF THE WORST WAVEGROUP COVERS!
Rock Band taught me everything I know about music quite literally, thank god for that series. And yes, local full player Rock Band goes HARD, it's some of my favorite gaming experiences. RIP to the Monkees dream 😔 (besides mods)
Funny thing about that 2112 song. For 360 and PS3 players you can play the full song. For Wii players you had to buy the pack with them being separate parts, it was not possible to play the full song on that system
funny fact: I thought of Montreal coming to Rock Band in 2021 was a big deal, and only later did I realize that that was a rerelease of their network song which came out 11 years prior lol. Still excited to have them back!
Country Track pack 2 is actually super weird. The only way to get the versions of those songs in that pack was to buy the pack and export them. The versions released as DLC are RB3 versions that have different charts. (I'm not sure exactly how different the charts are, but at a glance I notice that overdrive placement has changed.)
Ok first I just want to say that this franchise is amazing. I’m currently 17 and my first time playing this game was last year. I know it’s very late to join but I couldn’t leave it out. My first rock band game was Beatles rock band because at the time I was a very big fan of the Beatles. I dug out my cousins ps3 and tried to get everything for the game and I couldn’t put down the game for a month. After seeing how much this game offered, I tried playing rock band 4 and it was a way better experience than before. Me personally I was never really into music but recently I tried doing more stuff related with music(school band, guitar, orchestra, etc…) to see how music is and it made feel happy. When I played this game for the first time I had so much fun playing it that I showed my friends about it and we all took turns playing as the guitar. Later we saved up money for the other instruments and eventually had our own little group/band. Then I decided to get rock band 3 with the keyboard and it just opened up so many possibilities. Though I actually do feel that rock band 2 might be my favorite of all time💪. This game even inspired us to create our own band :3. We even had our first gig about a week ago and nothing would have been possible if it wasn’t for that game. Thank you for making this video and I’m so glad that somebody else had felt the same experience as me from playing this game🥲🥹🫶.
Holy shit what a story, thank you for sharing. This is all I ever wanted to hear haha, people out there genuinely inspired by the games to go start their own bands. Congrats on the gig, that's amazing! I might be some rando internet man but IM PROUD and YOU should be proud. First big step right there. Loved the comment, what a fantastic thing to read first thing in the morning. Thanks!
Originally it was just gonna be GDRB / RB3 / RB4, but then I wanted to do Unplugged, Blitz... and it kinda snowballed from there lol. Thanks for watching!
Holy crap, you took me back to 2008 again when I first got into RB. I feel the same way about RB introducing me to so many bands. Got to see live concerts of Foreigner, Billy Joel, Foo Fighters, Ghost, Primus and so much more because of RB. Also, thanks again for reminding me of missing the RB3 export when I took a break from RB,😢😢😢
Dude that’s awesome, when I first went to a festival I knew almost every band FROM their Rock Band appearance lol. So cool you got to see so many live. RIP to your RB3 export, I honestly think RB3 should’ve gotten way more rewinds. It ain’t fair!
Oh my god it actually happened, I can rest easy I’ve been following you for forever and it’s finally my graduating year, it’s my turn to be subjected to Good Riddance soon
Hey, congratulations! Just know when you're barreling through Good Riddance, it's a rite of passage, and you'll make it through this ♥ if they replay it twice tho you're fucking toast
I started to shift into more Album-Only listening late into college, kinda bounced back to playlists now. I included the Returning Albums section because I liked how each Rock Band game slowly built upon these great records, dishing out singles throughout the series and leaving some B-sides as DLC, we even got some full ones out there like Doolittle and London Calling.
31:21 the PS Vita store is not shut down, did not shut down in 2021. They threatened to, and then retracted the announcement. The Vita can't play PSP games unless they are purchasable digitally SPECIFICALLY on the PS Vita store (it has a different store to the PSP), and I don't believe Rock Band was one of those games at least in my territory (Australia). Love this video. Total blast from the past!
@@Ajakes EDIT: I wrote another comment with a correction that was wrong bc I read a graphic wrong lol nvm Again I love this video though especially how nitty gritty it gets. As someone fresh to Rock Band with the release of the Riffmaster (I was regrettably a Guitar Hero kid) I love this history lesson!
As a side-note about Unplugged, although we are screwed of getting the DLC songs through official manners nowadays, through "unofficial" manners all the DLC has been preserved and can be installed on a modded PSP (and probably also Vita, but I don't know much about that side) or played through emulation on PPSSPP, if you don't mind doing "seven seas ilicit sailing" that is.
In a section I didn't have time to edit it, I talked about how sad it was that the exports were gone, and that people deserved to play those tracks again... no matter how they did it... Same thing goes for Unplugged IMO!
I got back into the series about 3 years ago. I rebought all the Guitar Hero and RB games. I was sad when i was playing rb3 cause I didn’t buy any of the exports for rock band back in the day I was an idiot who bought the Guitar Hero exports. Then I discovered Rock Band 3 deluxe and the awesome Milohax community. They have made these games so awesome to play with new features and quality-of-life improvements. I find myself wanting to play every day it’s really fun. So if you like me and didn’t buy the exports or much DLC back in the day play rock band 2 and 3 deluxe on a modded console or pc. You can get all the official dlc and exports (even the songs that were unexportbale can be ported over) for free, even rb4, custom songs, and all the songs from the Guitar Hero games that never made it to rock band (Hotel California cough cough) converted to play in rb3. Right now my rb3 library is sitting around 5k songs. Playing these games with all the dlc and customs is the best experience. The custom community is always cooking up great quality custom songs that play just like official dlc. I want to mention these games also have online play and (rb3dx) cross-platform leaderboards. I love this series I will pass it on to the next generation and play it till the day I die.
Absolutely, for anyone looking to get back in I highly recommend the Deluxe mods as well, since they basically fix all the weird exports and song disappearances I catalogue in this whole series lol. An incredible effort, and it saved you money to buy more instruments! What's not to love!? Thanks for the comment 👍
I had Rock Band 1, but I had Guitar Hero 3 and DS. Its funny to think that I didn't know anything about music at the time (I was 12 or so) and I didn't know any of these songs lol. These game s probably had a lot of influence on my music taste growing up and today, especially the variety in style and time period.
As someone who has played Rock Band 3 DS for more time than I can admit, it's very depressing the treatment it gets. It doesn't have its own ScoreHero category and it's often regarded as a black sheep. The game is very difficult at times like holy shit, and the song selection couldn't have been better in my opinion.
Interesting. I have no experience in the portables except for Unplugged (and iOS), but I always wondered how those 2 rare DS appearances actually played. Kinda wanna try them out, especially if you say it’s difficult lol, now THAT is intriguing.
Tho the ACDC pack doesn't include Who Made Who... It actually kinda does given Who Made Who is a film soundtrack to the first, best, last, and worst movie Stephen King ever made, Maximum Overdrive, long story about that but all you need to know is Who Made Who is basically a best of album with 3 new song, the single Who Made Who, and two instrumentals, D.T. and Chase the Ace while the rest might be in the pack, I'm writing this while the video play, I'm on mobile, and I'm wasting time, and Hell's Bells is on Who Made Who
I am, and I know that it's all been saved and playable, this video series was just to highlight the weird twists and turns if you tried to source these songs legitimately. I encourage people to emulate if they can't get some of those delisted songs, cause it ain't fair!
We definitely need a series like this on Guitar Hero, but hey if ya don't wanna do it, ya don't wanna do it, i do hope someone can be inspired enough by this to make an attempt though... hmm... nah i'd just screw it up if i tried it myself
Sounds like some people have been thinking of doing the same thing haha, Guitar Hero seems like it would have an insane history of exports and licenses, I'm sure there's many different angles people can take that kind of video.
The only way to play the DLC songs on the old Rock Band games on old modern consoles nowadays is to only make Rock Band customs of the songs or download Rock Band customs of the songs into a flash drive to still play them that way, either stock or modded consoles. No need to purchase DLC anymore from there.
Very true, technically the official process is going away in 2 weeks, but honestly the modded way is probs way better anyways. Glad that stuff is still out there
Wow, this video is impressively comprehensive. I learned quite a few things, and I consider myself to be a veteran of these games. Great work man
AWiseMoose! I’ve seen so many of your FCs, can’t believe you’re here. (I might have even sourced your Song of the Century FC for the vid😅) Thanks so much for checking out my video, I appreciate it!
He doing the Rock Band Gauntlet right now. Tomorrow, he’ll be on for Green Day Rock Band tomorrow on Twitch if you’re interested.
People who say how Rock Band is dead should go to any con that has a Rock Band set up and see how long the queue is for your song to come up, it takes awhile. People still think Rock Band is a fun time and with how often people still make customs for Rock Band 3, its still beloved by everyone
Agreed. Rock Band still kicks ass, you bring that thing to any event and it WILL get used
Don’t forget that custom songs of the old Rock Band DLC are still around nowadays for anybody to play who couldn’t afford the DLC before.
@@Darkshock25 Also, not sure if this is true or not, but I heard that some people are trying to extract songs from Fortnite Festival to be use as customs as well
@@Lucario1121 It’s true.
To be fair the amount of cons with Rock Band setups seems quite minimal
Recently my A/V teacher dig up his old guitar hero world tour instruments and at the end of the school year he set it up for us to jam out. It was amazing.
That's amazing, and kinda what I hinted at in the ending, there's no way kids out there didn't experience Rock Band/Guitar Hero through school, it was just way too frequent
I can’t believe this video is real haha. Every time I would think back to those original setlist examination videos I never thought we would see anymore, let alone one for every game left! I Just wanted to say thank you for making the best Rock Band videos on UA-cam. (:
Wow, thank you for the comment, I'm glad I could finish off the series for you haha, thanks for sticking around and loving Rock Band!
it's back. I've been dying to see the conclusion
I remember watching the rock band videos you made way back then, I always hoped there'd be another
glad to see there is now :)

This is everything I’ve wanted and more. Glad to see you return to this series
Happy to finish it off, thanks for watching!
Omg thank you so much for the shoutout at the end. I am super glad that my sheet was able to help you get info. Always happy to see more people that are into cataloguing and wanting to complete lists
Some corrections I should add: At least on the way that I heard it interpreted. You said that Imagine - John Lennon is the only song where the Keys chart was moved to Guitar in RB4. While it is the only base game song to do this, the other DLC songs that had no guitar but keys also do the Keys part in RB4, the full list being LoveGame - Lady Gaga, Make Some Noise - Beastie Boys, The Only Time - Nine Inch Nails and I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner
Mentioned in your IOS segment, but Roxanne and Dirty Little Secret weren't European extra songs, but Wii ones.
That said many of the RBN1 Rewind songs were sadly lazily ported over and are missing the harmonies (some songs do have them like the 30 song pack songs, or other random picks like Flight of the Conchords (this is likely due to when the Harmonies Project was still in the chart what you want phase, before the oh wow we're official phase))
You also never mentioned the 3 Pre-Order songs for RB3, which are Blue Monday - New Order, Burning Down The House - Talking Heads and My Own Summer (Shove It) - Deftones
Loved those videos so much when I was getting back into Rock Band/Guitar Hero. It's amazing to see this series finally concluded :>
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@PikedPike will add this as well, thanks!
i feel like you should've mentioned that rivals came with 24 of it's own songs (plus an additional 20 songs that are debatable on if they count or not), rather then the pre-order bonus it came with
my bad
I still remember my mom going to every store in the city trying to find Rock Band around Christmas 2007 when I was a kid. Rock Band showed me different bands and genres I don't think I would've listened to otherwise. It also taught me how to play drums and I asked for a real drum set for my birthday a couple years later. I still to this day play drums
Dude that's awesome, just that little snowball effect in 2007 got you playing a real instrument. (Also props to your mom, those Band in a Box sets were tough to find sometimes)
HELL YEAH! So happy to see you finishing this series.
21:09 On the PS3 PlayStation Store, the RHCP pro guitar upgrades are still available to buy, but not the songs themselves (delisted since 2016)
also ...and Justice for All by Metallica's pro guitar upgrade is still available to purchase on 360, but not the song itself (delisted in 2013)
21:53 "this does not work the other way around" on PlayStation it actually does! Buying any RB1/2/3 DLC song on PS4/5 gives you the entitlement on PS3 as well!

Let’s go! My favorite UA-camr uploaded and Rock Band!? Yess!!

Oh wow that's awesome! Glad to hear it's had a positive reaction from some people, if it were ME I know I would, but then again, I'm a lil biased lol
idk if anyone has said this but with GD:RB they wanted to include pre dookie songs but couldnt due to the process harmonix used at the time would have destroyed the master tapes
yeah I showed the article headline on there for a very brief second, I believe it was from the Kerplunk era, Tre said they wanted to but yeah, would've wrecked the tapes.

OH MY GOD i never thought this video would come thank you so much
we're finally HERE, np np, thanks for watching!
not bad for a 5am watch, I'd say. Its always nice to have a moment where you don't feel alone in liking something. I'm still waiting on a new guitar controller to arrive but once it does, you best believe I'm workin my way up those RB4 leaderboards 💪
Hell yeah dude, kick some ass and collect those stars, thanks for handling the video at 5am!
Love your channel, been watching for a few years, its your editing and delivery that make this channel so special keep up the good work
Will do, thanks for sticking around, and I appreciate the kind words
After watching at 1:09:27
I remember back in middle school, which was between 2008 and 2009 we would all gather up at this one friend of ours named Sergio, cause out of the whole group during the time he was the only one who had internet, access to Xbox Live and LOTS of dlc songs for his rock band 2. One of the most memorable moments I had playing Rock Band 2 with the whole gang was when we played through the entire album,
The Great Southern Trendkill by Pantera with the tv volume to the max!
Hey, thanks! Happy to finish it for people like us lol. The data is interesting, what can I say! Appreciate the comment 👍
this is actually an insanely well made video bro i love it
Thank you!
Ugh thank you, just in time to power though the end of my work day!
Ha, glad I could help!
I played a show with Glen Matlock of The Sex Pistols who took a long drag of a cigarette, blew it towards me and said, "you bloody kids and your technology"
Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden did a hearty laugh when I told him that finally passing Run To The Hills on expert drums was one of my proudest moments.
I never knew haha."
I guess labels were just licensing songs out there. Thanks again for inspiring me to pick up the plastic guitar one more time.
You won't believe how long I've been waiting for this video
Thanks for sticking around, happy to make it!
I'll dig through the wiki, curious to see how those charts looked o7
i never knew livin on a prayer was available for purchase until this video✋🏻THANK YOU
Anytime 👋
Sorry that I’m late it was a wonderful ending to something impactful to your channel.
Ey, thanks for watching dude! Had to give it the send off it deserved
Thanks for the catch, added the correction to the doc 👍
Totally right, apologies. Added your corrections to the syllabus, also thanks for watching!
Unplugged orignally WAS a portable version of RB2. The game's prototype is actually still called "Rock Band 2".
Honestly did not know that
@@Ajakes you can get the prototype off of arbyshasthemeats, runs good on ppsspp
"Kept you waitin', huh?" - Ajakes
Seriously though, it's awesome to finally see this series conclude.
Lol I had no idea, the song was just too powerful
This was amazing and very impressive. Thank you for this.
No problem! Thanks for watching
I used to pray for times like this
No need to pray any longer my friend 🙏
cool fact: i found my favorite band (of Montreal) because of rock band. crazy how you can just find random indie music from this game and love it
funny fact: I thought of Montreal coming to Rock Band in 2021 was a big deal, and only later did I realize that that was a rerelease of their network song which came out 11 years prior lol.
Oh wow, thanks for the heads up, I figured a lot of that export turned into the RB3 versions so I didn't get any there
Ok first I just want to say that this franchise is amazing.
Thanks!
little note a little late but: track pack redeeming still works on xbox (presumably because the dlcs are cross game with rb4)
The sequel to greatest series from 6 years ago.
I am glad to see all these games that never got their videos all together here.
Originally it was just gonna be GDRB / RB3 / RB4, but then I wanted to do Unplugged, Blitz... and it kinda snowballed from there lol. Thanks for watching!
Really love the video! Hope it gets the recognition it deserves, tutto e' possibile 🖤
Thank you! Tutto e' possibile is correct... 🖤
Oh my god it actually happened, I can rest easy
I’ve been following you for forever and it’s finally my graduating year, it’s my turn to be subjected to Good Riddance soon
Hey, congratulations! Just know when you're barreling through Good Riddance, it's a rite of passage, and you'll make it through this ♥ if they replay it twice tho you're fucking toast
I have waited 3 years for this
My junior year of high school I used to check your every night for these videos haha :)
Rofl, took me long enough! Thanks for coming back for the finale 👍
what a comeback
Nothing like a lil Green Day to usher me back
This is an interesting view into the perspective of someone who listens to albums instead of playlists
THE KING IS BACK
HELLO AGAIN
31:21 the PS Vita store is not shut down, did not shut down in 2021. They threatened to, and then retracted the announcement. The Vita can't play PSP games unless they are purchasable digitally SPECIFICALLY on the PS Vita store (it has a different store to the PSP), and I don't believe Rock Band was one of those games at least in my territory (Australia).
Love this video. Total blast from the past!
Yeah, only learning that now lol. My bad, correction in the syllabus. Thanks for watching!
@@Ajakes EDIT: I wrote another comment with a correction that was wrong bc I read a graphic wrong lol nvm
Again I love this video though especially how nitty gritty it gets. As someone fresh to Rock Band with the release of the Riffmaster (I was regrettably a Guitar Hero kid) I love this history lesson!
@@MrSensical np haha, glad you enjoyed it!
Green Day was my band I grew up with them in the Bay Area. I only loved this game and still think its peak Rock Band
That's awesome, I gotta thank that game for getting me into them, didn't know much about them before but now Dookie is constantly on my rotation lol
This is awesome, about to start the video now, good to know what I will have to pirate because it was only available during some random week in 2015
rofl, hey, if they make it impossible to get, who can they blame?
I remember Blitz, for some reason, Death on Two Legs crashed the entire Xbox, same with Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix on LRB.
Oh wow, had no idea lol. Queen is just too powerful
@@Ajakes doesn’t help it was my fav song on there 😢
I got back into the series about 3 years ago.
The money I’ve saved on dlc I used to buy an awesome electronic drum kit, guitar hero guitar, a rock band stage kit and kick ass sound system.
Perfectly said, I was the exact same age so it probably had the same effect on us and our musical taste lol. But you actually PLAY music, you madlad
@@Ajakes that was probably another reason I thought about learning to play those instruments
After July 29, 2024, your only option for songs would have to be the Meats
Epic video
I would love this for Guitar Hero as well!
No way he came back 🥳
Great freaking video!
@@Alexzw92 thank you!!!
Kinda surprised Quiet Riot is only in this series once given Cum Feel the Noize is a another well known single from them
Tho the ACDC pack doesn't include Who Made Who... It actually kinda does given Who Made Who is a film soundtrack to the first, best, last, and worst movie Stephen King ever made, Maximum Overdrive, long story about that but all you need to know is Who Made Who is basically a best of album with 3 new song, the single Who Made Who, and two instrumentals, D.T. and Chase the Ace while the rest might be in the pack, I'm writing this while the video play, I'm on mobile, and I'm wasting time, and Hell's Bells is on Who Made Who
Lol true, kinda wish we got that one too
Wow it's everything I need to know ever
Bro, you're not familiar with emulation, are you? Every song it's still available.
22:55 unused option “Mature Content” has been used by customs
The only way to play the DLC songs on the old Rock Band games on old modern consoles nowadays is to only make Rock Band customs of the songs or download Rock Band customs of the songs into a flash drive to still play them that way, either stock or modded consoles. No need to purchase DLC anymore from there.
Very true, technically the official process is going away in 2 weeks, but honestly the modded way is probs way better anyways. Glad that stuff is still out there
HE’S BACK!!!
WE'RE BACK BABY
