Too relatable. Whenever a customer says "I just want to replace the tub" I immediately explain that the corner bead is coming out, the drywall on the far wall is out at least the width and height of the tub, and potentially some framing until it slides in no problem. I've wrestled way too many times trying to fit 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag.
As a new plumbing Apprentice the only thing I hate doing is setting a fucking tub. I can handle anything else but doing that is the most frustrating thing ever
A good one for famous "instagram vs reality" category. No-one believes me when I start telling my scary "tub setting stories" around the camp fire. 🤣🤣🤣 Go BRT, GO!
Just been thru the exact same thing, my customer went from a one piece shower/tub to a four piece. The home was built in 1978, the plumbing and drain did not line up, the subfloor concrete had a hump, etc. Good job on getting it in there brother.
Just to dry fit 😂. I kept telling my husband we need to dry fit the tub we’re installing this weekend. We’ll have no shower for 10 people until we get it installed and finished ! Fingers crossed for a one day installed!
Yeah, when I give prices for installing new tubs I always price for this scenario, sometimes you get lucky with the really flexible tubs and can set them without removing studs.
Having an alcove to slide the tub in like that is the most optimal…sometimes the room is the size of the tub which is much harder…somthing is wrong with the framing and should have been addressed/fixed prior to installing the tub…and I doubt he put mortar under it. You get what you pay for
Love when things go from 0 to 60 in the drop of a hat but when it happens at work. Ffs lol. I always tell people if you see me walking with a big hammer or the recip saw things are about to get ugly.
A friend of mine used to say, “Sometimes you have to talk to it a little bit.” And if he was still having trouble he would go get a bigger hammer and say, “Sometimes you have to talk to it a little louder!” I would just get out of the big man’s way.
Ok so he created more work because the measure was incorrect. You have to give half inch bigger than your actual measurement it will avoid you a hard time
I love that you show the realities of remodeling and don't just edit to everything going perfectly. I can relate to the struggle in this clip!
Me too all my projects work out like this
I don't understand how that bath tub didn't fit, the standard size is 5 feet
I’m thinking about the chain saw at this point!!!

Tub is in. Next episode- how to repair buckling walls after removal of support beams.
😂😂
😂😂😂
thats pretty funny but i doubt anything will happen
I doubt it was structural and he can fit the cut wood back in
😂
I'm thinking that when framing in the tub area I usually make the space 1/4" longer than the tub.... it's easier to fill space than make space.
it'll still be like this haha

seriously - what is the point of a tub you can't lay in anyway ..... sexy shower all the way!
I can relate to that. With a few “oh come onnn” in there.
Looks about like how all my projects go!
I bet you're glad they didn't want cast iron
😂been there done that! I had to open a hole in a living room wall and slide it in from there. I feel your pain!

What I love about this video is that it shows EXACTLY how hard some projects are and I’m not the only one that has a hard time when doing projects😁🤣🤣🤣

I remove the bottom 1/2in the stud on the side that is in the air (to begin with). Works every time. Sister in a stud!
Nice to see a pro have a good fight and win in the end
Lol 😅the fun I have with tubs. I think only one every fit first time go.
I like putting a bucket of thinset or foam under the tup when i set them in😊
props to you for showing the truth.
Lol...i feel his pain!😂
I feel your pain brother!😢
Currently in the process of changing out an old tub. I cut it in half to get it out, guess I didn't think about how to get the new one in 😅
Just when you think “ok I’m gonna drop this tub in today” and end up doing demo and frame work. Gotta love it
I’m rolling right now 😂
Im not sure why this was so funny. But, this is literally me every single time I perform this task. Maybe funny because it's so accurate.. lol
😂😂😂😂 tub first, framing last I guess!!!
Was there any studs left?
😂
Been there...love the content 💪💪💪
Real life, i love it!
I feel your pain, just done one that absolutely kicked my ass 😂
Yeah, when I give prices for installing new tubs I always price for this scenario, sometimes you get lucky with the really flexible tubs and can set them without removing studs.
How much do you usually charge?
Isn't the standard size 5 feet? If a standard 5 feet tub was removed, why shouldn't a 5 feet tub be able to replace it?
What do you do about the structure?
I did this same thing the first tub swap. Second tub swap i left the top of the studs tacked loose and put em on layout afterwards. Worked well.
How could the bath tub not fit? Isn't the standard size 5 feet long?
Hey, that tub goes upstairs.
Its a thing of beauty when that tub finally just drops in😂
Haha, this gave me a good chuckle...
Facts bro facts!!
Tell me you've never installed a tub without telling me you've never installed a tub
It’s a bit easier just to measure everything make sure it’s square before setting tub, pulling out, setting tub, pulling out and so on…
Sweet! I thought it was just me. Thanks for showing the "wtf's"
I feel you
Steve, you're the best man!!!
Not sure about this situation for you but I just use a plainer to make them fit.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 F me the struggles real lol
Very relatable. Persistence in construction is a requirement.
Yup! Everytime
This is exactly when ide convince the homeowner that a shower would look much better 😂😂😂
Props to you gor doing thst alone
I feel you on that one
Been there got the whole badge collection
No ledger 2x ??

Plumbing is holding up the walls now 😂❤️🫡
Cut the whole house down but we have a tub
So he is human, this me everytime I do any project
Mines was too a nightmare
Just leaving the studs out?
Mother of pearl. At the end of that fitting I would have no hair on my head.
I hate doing this 😂 it always suck
That's why the framer always leave a 2 inch gap on each side he sure loves to make the plumbers job easy
This dude is always just knocking out jobs.
Haha, this is friggin hilarious.
Focusing on the wrong wall of alcove-cut out the lower section of drywall on the right
Tearing out the all room to made it fit, I thought that only happened to me.
Kids, this is Exactly how a 15min job turns into 2 hrs
Proof!!! That it’s not just me😅
Feel your paint.
Yes… this is really how you put in a darn garn bathtub…😂😂😂😂❤❤😂
Warped wall frames from moisture over the years
Now to take it back out and line up plumbing.. after that take it out again to pour some motar … I hate tubs
Always fun alone!
legends say, u place the tub and then build the bathroom around it
I cut my finger trying to yank it out today. I'm now back from urgent care with stitches 😂 I'm wearing welding gloves when this sucker heals.

You just cut a bean. It could be a support beam. That is a no no.😮
Power wood planer 🤔
He called his wife and said “ I am so glad this is not cast iron”…
Now fix them load bearing walls and studs
The damn truth....
Maybe try going straight in??? Going in sideways I guess makes for a perfect UA-cam video
I know this struggle very well
Replacing a bathtub is a pain in the ass 🤦🏻
Something I would do lol 😂
I've done that before😅😂
the worst guy doing the simplest task really shows you why you never hire a hack
😂
Amateur. Just cut the bath in half and use trim caulking to put it back together next time
Yup looks like any standard plumber I've ever seen.
Try using a tape measure before ordering bath 😅
just you have to cut the Sheetrock
Any leaks lol gg
I believe you’re copying my process to a T 😂
Lol if it wasn’t for back luck we’d have no luck at all
Meanwhile I’m swearing my ass off trying to do something simple.
You had plenty of room to go straight in
Could of been worse..a cast iron tub😊
Do you get permits when you do bathrooms?
Did you pay your taxes?
Ok so he created more work because the measure was incorrect. You have to give half inch bigger than your actual measurement it will avoid you a hard time
He did not get an A in math.
Well at least there was one stud left lol
I’d be ready to walk away! 😢
