100%
100% agreed
100% true that
Matt Cameron is the best drummer they have ever had. Dave is awesome but come on.
Absolutely wonderful drummer. One of the best drummers of all time. Love the power and the joy in his playing.
The best version of Pearl Jam is Pearl Jam with Dave Abbruzzese.
We couldn't agree more! Please subscribe and join the madness and check out the 5 interviews we have done with dave!!!

He’s locked in
Ed made a great mistake.
They seem to have done ok without him.
@@Al_Camino77 Probably in terms of happiness yes but not in terms of music.

I think the fans would aprove a reunion with dave
Totally 🙌
you "think"?
Hells yeah!
He absolutely blew my mind in the early 90s. Tight as fuck, creative and groovy.
Great description
It will never happen but it should fucking happen.
Not disrespect to Matt Cameron, who is an absolute legend, Dave was their best drummer. He was a drummers drummer
Pearl Jam never were the same without him. So sad. They immediately started sounding like old men without energy without him on drums.
Agreed
Eh, he’s good, probably their best, but the others were all fine too. It’s just drums.
@@whiskersb5296Lol. Um, the drumming styles play a huge part in music. It isn’t “just drums”. The energy when Dave was in the band was so much better and fit Pearl Jam.
@@the_minimalistic_adventure The members of Pearl Jam disagree.
@@the_minimalistic_adventureit fit pj perfectly in 1992. It’s 2023 and they continue to outdo themselves. They don’t live in the past, neither should you. Dave should consider it also.
1 of The questions I ever wanted to someone to ask him. Thx dude
He looks like the Big Lebowski now 😂😂
They did a show in Sacramento back in 2022 with Dave Krusen AND IT WAS AMAZING, it’s on UA-cam and is a must watch.
So awsome brother my favorite to watch thank you for being part of my inspiration to the craft I had bohnam Ian paice Neil pert and than you
And Dave grohl you two were my favorite as a kid from age 3 eRly 90s early teens 11 and animal so badass
Just a one time reunion would be enough so we'd have it on record
Damn, almost 30 years later and we’re still talking about this?
Yes. He’s that much better than every other PJ drummer.
@@MFink-oq5hylol seriously… I’ve never seen such discussions about any other replaced musician in another band after THIS LONG.
There’s only one reason for that - Dave has absolutely shamed any other drummer attempting to fill his role since he left. Dude is by far THE man for the job
@felix I get ya. Totally pointless to talk about this. Dave is nothing but a footnote in PJ's history.
Hes washed up on the run in bali
@@TheNBSPerry and yet…Pearl Jam is still an arena act. Somehow, their fans managed to get over this situation and move forward.
The Best Drum DAVE ABBRUZZESE
That is some last name😂
I used to blame Eddie and the other guys for Dave A leaving but the truth is Dave A hasn’t been able to adjust to where PJ wanted to go…needed to go…to merely survive as a band. He didn’t get it in 1994 and still doesn’t.
It’s a shame too because he is clearly their best drummer and his interpretations on later songs would be awesome to hear.
For years I thought the guys cut him loose too quick and didn’t try to find a common ground but the hard truth is that Dave, who once again is the best drummer they’ve ever had, doesn’t understand the band’s philosophy on how to survive and thrive.
Having said all that they’ve had numerous chances to do something together so I just think it’s too far gone for it to happen. Also, it would be embarrassing as hell for Matt Cameron to go back behind the kit after Dave A. did a few shows because while Matt was fantastic for Soundgarden’s flow he is absolutely dreadful for PJ. It’s absolute torture listening to Matt drum on songs from Ten, Versus and Vitalogy.
Don’t Go still sounds fantastic live, rvm better than ever. Not for you immortality bangers. Maybe it’s just you?
You’re mostly right… except it wasn’t Dave not being willing to follow the BAND. It was the band being turned into the EV show. And Dave was the only one to not blindly accept the shite that was constantly coming out of vedders mouth in that period.
Stone and Mike wanted z Dave to stay. Jeff sided with Vedder and that’s that. Can’t piss off the little star
Well said
@@TheNBSPerry - 100% FACT!!!
@@TheNBSPerry Except not really, the formula worked. 34 years later and PJ still plays to thousands of real fans the kind that know the lyrics. Yet you spout on you tube about the little guy. This is an easy one to figure out....
Bless Dave and his I say 👍⭐🇦🇺
Would love to here Dave’s interpretation (covers) of some post-Vitalogy drumming.
This!
If he didn't play at the HOF, he won't ever play with them
Most of us GenX drummers lost all interest in Pearl Jam when they fired Dave. One of the dumbest moves in music history.
I agree! After DA was let go, i dropped all my PJ interest. 90s was never the same, DA brought that soul to rock!
@@marcoe.6987
Yup. He was really the only reason I liked that band. Dave had such a furious pocket and gave that band so much urgency. They’ve never had anyone close to it since. Cameron was amazing in Soundgarden but I can’t stand him in Pearl Jam.
@actionfigureShowcase
Obviously it didn’t affect them financially. They’ve coasted on those first two albums for decades.
But the bigger L in this situation was them ultimately leaving him out of the Rock HOF. They could have at least gotten that right. He deserved it. So that’s when I really knew they were a bunch of old
c-nts.
I concur!!!!! I moved on to other bands like Tool.👍😎
I only listen to pearl jam when Abbruzzese is in the room. He was the dream influence in my drumming the past 20 years.
That’s a shame. You Ihave missed a lot of good PJ music then.
No, I haven't. I have saved my blood pressure and my sanity.@@seanjone4574
@@seanjone4574 really, like what? Aside from In my tree on No code, everything else has been generic old man rock, nothing like their early high energy hook-laden sound.
@@calixohiggins9843 well, Evolution, In Hiding, Present Tense, Given To Fly, Nothing as it seems, of the girl, Off He Goes, Low Light, Inside Job, Mind Your Manners, I can keep going if you want. All without Dave and all great songs!
@@seanjone4574 Like I said, old man rock. Nothing inspired and nothing we haven't already heard from bands in the 70's. Maybe Given to fly can squeak by as decent, but even that was a rip off of Zeppelin's Going to California. They went from bangers like Once, Evenflow, Go, Rearviewmirror, Tremor Christ, etc with Dave to then uninspired and derivative rocking chair boomer rock, of which Off he goes is a perfect embodiment.
Sorry bro but that’s not going to happen the throne belongs to Matt Fucking Cameron!!!
He's like a homeless man now. But he's still kickin!! Hardass
It would be nice if that were to happen.
His drumming is so good just look at unplugged so effortless and suited their songs and style so well….
Definitely the best drummer they had by a long shot
The sound of his snare drum on the unplugged show made me want to start playing drums. Dude was and still is a monster drummer. Is he missing his teeth???
Dave is so badass at drums it's just crazy. This guy could have been in a drummer in any band. His drumming was just so effortless that it was just ridiculous. It's funny to me that Eddie thought his style was "too busy", but then they get Matt Cameron? Why not just get the drummer from Hole or something? Eddie just hated on Dave's views on issues unrelated to music. Eddie's lyrics about Dave on "Glorified G" is literally Eddie talking s%!t about Dave.
If he could have been a drummer in any band, why has he not found a role in another prominent band? If he has then that’s my mistake but I did not hear the news
@timmatthews1085 So, I was just referring to his musicianship as a drummer. His skills are that great. Think of it as a hypothetical situation. If personalities never clashed, then bands would stay together forever. Jaco Pastorius was one of the greatest bassists ever. He played with very established jazz musicians, and was a badass. But by the 80's, Jaco couldn't even get a gig. How is it the best bass player at that time can't get a gig and is broke AF? Is it because he's not that good?
I also remember reading a very long time ago that the opening lyrics to Glorified G were words spoken by Dave that perturbed Eddie. Has anyone every positively confirmed this story to be true?
@JasonKavetis All I know from the grapevine is Dave brought some kind of firearm with him to rehearsal or something, and Eddie and/or maybe some other bandmates had a problem with it. I would let my drummer bring a tank to rehearsal if he was as good as Dave. I wouldn't just say he was their best drummer, but he was the best member of Pearl Jam at his respective instrument. He was better at drums than both guitar players were at playing their guitars, better at drums than Jeff was at bass and so forth. Without a good drummer, your band sucks. Plain and simple.
On the wikipedia page for that song there is a story and some quotes from Eddie and Dave as to how that song came to be. It appears to be true story. I first listened to them live on the radio April 3, 1994 & was blown away at how good they sounded. I agree with you that Daves drumming gave the band the sound that launched them into the stratosphere. @@robbyrob1180
It'd be a dream for the Pearl Jam fans
Dave's groove, flow and feel on the kit was the perfect fit for Pearl Jam. Their music feels very straight, rigid and sometimes rushed with Matt Cameron on the throne (Even Flow is a good example for comparison). Matt Cameron is great in his own right, his drumming in Soundgarden works well, but for Pearl Jam Dave was the best at giving those riffs exactly what they needed.
Dave you were the best drummer they ever had, I like MC but you are a much better fit IMO. Dave, we love you and your drumming was a major reason why I fell in love with PJ in the early 90's
Dave was their best drummer by FAR
I love Dave and Pearl Jam, but Dave was one of the reasons of PJ success. They were never the same, he is such a monstrous drummer. 🤘🔝🙌
youre right, they arent the same. they are better.
@@Jimmyfly215 Absolutely not 😂
@@diegomazzaron9191 they are better literally in every aspect. They are way more mature sounding, developed, write better, etc. nobody rules out he was a great drummer, but they are better today and both statements can be true. Especially when they play songs he was a part of live.
I totally agree with your statement. No one ever mentions the other drummers Dave, Matt or Jack. People only ever talk about DA. That’s because he was the driving force behind PJ. I also think that the people who support DA are drummers themselves and they understand just how fancy of a drummer he is.
Alright Alright Dave kicked ass but Pearl Jam still was no joke with out him. Yes I would have love to have him still in the band but life goes on!
Power drummer right there...DA! Screw PJ for dissin' him.
Theyve got Matt Fucking Cameron, that dude aint going nowhere
The best drummer in Pearl Jam,.
Huge PJ fan here, but none of us really knew the band dynamic from the inside. If they had kept Dave and let the band implode, that would have benefited none of us. I stand by the move. Dave A was great but you do know that he really only played on Versus.
And vitalogy
Goat
Dave kicks ass!!! Subscribe and join the madness and please check out the other episodes we have done with him 🙌
Your better on your own D. Would the agro even be worth it. Yeah.... Nah.
I think he should go back as the drummer of PJ
Until Jack Irons left, Pearl Jam was my favorite band. Since then , all the groove and creativity almost was gone
Dave Abbruzzese!
with all due respect to Matt Cameron, Dave's their best drummer
Looks like George Best
guys, stop digging in it. This the past and never come back. I agree that possibly Dave was the best drummer in PJ, I mean his style matched the best but thinking this way we disgrace Jack Irons and especially Matt Cameron. Why I have an impression Dave Abbruzzese behaves like Dave Mustaine being sacked from Metallica :) Mustaine created Megadeth. What happened with Dave, a drummer?
He was offered a seat in GnR and turned it down.
Dave "Happiest Fucking Gas Station Attendent You'll Ever See" Abbruzzese? No thanks
Dave is the best drummer PJ ever had..hands down.
i’m not here for all the matt cameron slander
I really hate to say it but Matt Cameron kind of neutered Pearl Jam. All respect to his work with Soundgarden but man I get bored with his PJ playing.
Ditto, he’s amazing in soundgarden but he makes pearl jam sound like middle of the road college rock, he’s sounds like a faceless random session drummer in PJ
Their music is boring without him. Period
Honestly I feel it’s such a tried thing just let it go lmao, I loved Dave’s drumming with the band but at this point it’s been over two decades, it’s now been an amount of time longer without him then with him.
Yeah, he was with the band for like 3 years of their 33+ year career. It would be weird for everyone involved.
Love David, hate pearl jam.
Pearl Jam’s not on Dave Abbruzzese’s level.. it wouldn’t work
Seems Dave cannot try harder
I prefer the other Dave, Krusen.
Majority wins. But that doesn’t mean they’re right.. respectfully.. 😏
Love this guy and if I ever get the money I’m gonna hire him to play on some of my songs be cause they’re great songs and grunge” is how I cut my teeth so his playing would fit amazingly so.. massive respect
Dave put the "jam" in Pearl Jam. They haven't grooved as hard since... 🤷♂️
🤣
It's never going to happen. Totally moot.
Pj sucks without him
People really should try to understand that while the other members of Pearl Jam were driven by the creative aspect of their art, Abbruzzese was mostly driven by his desire to be a rock star. He wanted the glamorous life. It was never gonna work because he was never the right fit. He needs to give the complaining a rest.
Regardless his reasons, he delivered. It's one thing of you want the life but suck, and it's another if you've earned it. He played his heart out so theres nothing wrong w enjoying a little of the spoils that came with the gig.
@@Tica-boo Sure. But, in a group under such intense pressure and scrutiny at the time, personality clashes just don’t work. It happens all the time. Eddie wasn’t the only one who wasn’t happy with Dave. And they obviously, ultimately, did the right thing because they became the group that could go through so much and still be together 30 years later. Notice also, no other group leaped in to recruit Dave when he was available. Who knows why that was. But, thirty years later, to still be holding a grudge, seems like a useless waste of energy. Move on Dave. Move on.
@@maggieshevelew1693 I've never had the pleasure so you maybe right. As a failed musician I know that making a living doing what you loved was the goal. I just read or saw an interview w Eddie where he expressed that he wishes he could have put less pressure on himself to stay "pure". I'm totally paraphrasing bit that was my takeaway.
They were already legends. Regardless who was behind the skins they would have only gone up.
Either way, I get your point.
Lmao he literally got recruited by the other biggest band on earth at the time, Guns N' Roses. After working on music with them he decided it wasn't for him. So not sure what you mean by was never recruited by anyone else. Also eddie vedder is a dick for kicking Dave out and not at least talking to him face to face, really immature. Dave was happy for the bands success lol, that was his crime. 🤣🤣🤣@maggieshevelew1693
@@TXJ471 Umm, that’s open to debate. Dave had talks with GnR, and played with them a bit. And absolutely nothing came of it. I’ve heard different accounts of what happened, but it doesn’t sound like he was EVER offered the gig. I think Dave’s selfless version is pretty questionable. So, basically, it still seems he never received any offers from other bands. And that says something.
Pearl Jam doesn’t want to be the “lose your mind band” anymore after all those people died at their concert in Holland. Dave was fuckin awesome in PJ but those guys are pushing 60. It’s not 1994 anymore.
Oh stop… even before anyone died at Rokskilde they already neutered themselves. Pj from 1996-2000 is a joke
No he shouldnt. Its matts band now. Has been for 20 years. Gotta let it go. Daves stuff was great. But ffs its been over for a generation now lol
Please god I hope he doesn't, they don't deserve his presence
lol the comment about royalty rates would be Ed. When the band was more Stone's, the split was an even 20% amongst the 5 guys. After Ed started running the show (and the music into the ground) he changed it to 36% for him and the rest of em at less than half - 16% each
how d'you know ?
Would love to know where you got this info. No jokes, very interesting
@briansharp5157 I linked to it but for some reason it got deleted. I'll try to post again
@@AnonyMiss_ givr ua a quote, we will google ii
Unfortunately Matt Cameron doesn't sound very good or play Dave's drum parts as well as Dave. PJ lost a lot of that groove and feel when they fired Dave.
It won’t happen
Unless he's converted into a hardcore lefty, Eddie will never play with him.
He’s very much a lefty…. That was never the reason he was fired.
I wish that drummer go back to Pearl Jam one more time. Life never will be the same again make me sad. 😞 😢😢😢😢😢
Good drummer, but not Matt Cameron good, and not the right fit for this phase of PJs career.
Ed really fucked up by being a dick and having him fired, but at the time, Ed was the meal ticket, Dave was expendable. The absolute best drummer they ever had, such groove and skill, perfect timing ❤️
Bring him back, they would kick like it did pre-1995.
Cameron plays very annoying, no grunge style . Too technical. And the hard snaredrum sound is so annoying. Mr. Camerons drumming is perfect for Soundgarden style . Pj please take back Dave A !
His drumming is great, but he looks fucked up.
Never heard such a bad drum sound as on Scared of fear on the new PJ Album. Sorry Matt Cameron but that's a no go. Good song but extremely shitty bad drumsound
Eddie Vedder sucks
I was hugely inspired by him when he was in the band.. I remember watching that snl rear view mirror performance as a young teen just loving him, the kit the playing the song speaking of which I’m actually going to watch that now give me those memories and inspiration for the day. I’m all over it thank you Dave
