Hello Zeek! i got a question for you, when your camera is set to 2.5K mode, there is an extra crop factor? for instance, a 24mm on Canon APS-C is roughly 38.4mm so, is that the full frame equivalent or that value will increase? thanks and happy new year!

Hey! Loved the video! I started to get into the community of magiclantern now and there is only one thing i dont quite understand. How much can you record with one take? I have been asked to film a live show and the footage i have seen from the eos m is crazy good for me but i cant work with it for a live show if i cant record more then one minute. You can record for as long as the card fills up. Really just depends on which mode you use. 1080 mode is continuous raw. I like 2.5K 1:1 Centered Mode with 16:9 enabled 1920x1080 resolution. It has a bit of a crop, but i mostly use wide lenses with IS.

I use the Sony ZV-E10. I have two of them. For UA-cam I mix footage from these two cameras around (Pocket 6K + ZV-E10). But for this whole shoot it was just the ZV-E10 for the talking parts.
Yes they can. With the EF Mount it's more tricky because the lever/pin at the back of the lens mount could potentially hit the sensor. I've used them though with no issues, but honestly, I prefer the M42 mount Takumar lenses.
Hey Zeek, happy new year! Discovered your videos a few months ago and have been blown away by the content. I'm having an issue with the EOS M with Magic Lantern in that it freezes every now and then when I end a recording, which has made me nervous recording long videos as I never know when the recording will be lost! All I can do when this happens is remove the battery, and then I need to restart the camera, reset the settings, and restart again. Is there anything I might be doing that's causing this? I'm shooting HD 1080p, 16:9, 1/48, ISO 200 and the SD card is SanDisk Pro 256gb with 170mb speed. Using a vintage lens on manual. Seems to happen when I switch from camera mode to video and record, but I might be imagining it. Would be super grateful if you had any advice!

I've got the Canon EOS M10 & it's saying update firmware as needed. It says camera Ver.1.1.0 & Lens Ver.2.0.0. I have 2 lenses at the moment, the standard 15.45mm & the one you recommended the EF-S 18-55mm III. The only firmware I can find is the 1.1.1, I can't find the Ver.2.0.0 firmware. I downloaded Ver.2.0.2 thinking that was the best for the Magic Lantern you gave a link to. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

Hey Zeek, great content as always! Question for you... I've got a C100 mk II as my main camera but I'm wanting a 2nd cam for Real Estate and Wedding use. Do you think the 5D MKIII with ML would make a good option? I'm needing 1080p continuous recording for Weddings. I've read that ML can get around the 30 minute recording limit which would be great for Ceremony use. I've also learned that people use intervelometers to get around the 30 minute record limit. As far as real estate goes I'm needing high resolution raw burst recording. I'm also thinking that I could use the Dual ISO for real estate to increase my dynamic range. I'm also thinking that a 5D Mk iii would be much lighter on my gimbal. I'm also in dire need of a photo camera. My concern is reliability and whether or not it will fulfill my needs. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
The 5D Mark 3 would be a great choice. Also to mention, you could possibly get a BMPCC 4K around the same price too these days. You can go past the 30 minute recording in the Magic Lantern Menu in the power save tab. I haven't tested Dual ISO with the 5D3, but I would avoid it for wedding shoots. The dynamic range should already be good enough. The 5D3 is a great photo camera, even my EOS M does the job with excellent photography.

@@alankowalewski Exactly! The 6K is probably the best image I've seen from these modern cameras for the price! But it won't give me the vibe the EOS M can get when you need it. The P6K is a workhorse though.

For some of the shots yes, like when I was turning the CPL and some on the ferry as it was moving. But all these lenses had IS, so helpful, especially if post stabilisation is needed.
I think I need a new speed booster, my viltrox doesn’t like my 10-18mm anymore and sometimes the 55-250 but it’s hit or miss, but when it hits, it’s amazing 😻

Used a soft diffusion filter, didn't add sharpness in post and also YT compression. I can make them look sharp for sure, but that's not the look I want. I have free downloadable RAW Files to play with in my latest video too if you want to have a test/play.
@@Fantabiscuit You mean with the 5D2 or EOS M. The M is Aps-c, a speedbooster could help, but the 1.6x Aps-c mode has aliasing and a max resolution of 1736x976 16:9. 2.8K Raw has a 2.96x Crop. So it's a bit more like a Super 16 Cam. The 5D3 would do the job here.
If you wanted to put 4 M's on tripods to film rooms like security cameras, what lenses would you use? Kit lens with autofocus on, or manual focus lenses with a fixed focus? I only noticed autofocus is better on 18-55 than the 22 kit lens. Curious about the 11-22 although buying 4 of those is too expensive I think. Might not need autofocus if I can have most of the rooms in focus, just a bit worried when someone walks into the room.
I would only use manual focus. The kit lenses imo are very similar in quality to the 11-22, probably couldn't tell them apart in most scenarios. Consider the TTArtisans 17mm F1.4 or TTartisans 23mm F1.4. Love these types of lenses. AF on the EOS M isn't reliable to be honest.
@@ZeekEOSZ its hard trying to figure out what I need without buying a bunch of stuff and testing. Would be cool if I could have everything in focus at least 2 or 3 ft and farther away in focus at all times.
@@NirnBootMod The issue here is the m's AF system. I always use manual focus. M200 or M5/M50/M6 will have better AF, just don't like the 1080P quality.
@@ZeekEOSZ I was always considering gimbals too, like the g6 is pretty cheap or the mini p gimbal is less than $200 but the pay load is around 800g so lightweight setups. but I mean its so cool to see your image stabilized footage so steady. I think for the gimbal it would be if you wanted to use some low aperture primes with no IS like a f1.4 lens would be cool to see. but then if its a 16mm f1.4 then it would need a heavier gimbal so then it defeats the purpose. maybe the 32mm f1.4 native canon m lens would be nice, but when do u use a 50mm equivalent, not always. so its tough but thats what makes it fun!
@@LouisLuzuka I would highly recommend the kit lenses with these gimbals, or any lens with IS. These gimbals are only 3-Axis, and generally it’s not enough and post stabilisation will still be required.

Cheers, likewise! The kit lens honestly are as good as this lens, maybe a tiny bit inferior, but no one can tell. All ISO 400 for those night shots yep! No noise reduction was used, it wasn't too noisy, but I think UA-cam compression helps.
@@alankowalewski All lowlight were shot with 2.4K ISO 400. I like higher resolution for low light. Even 2.8K 2.35:1 should be fine and use available light from streets, cars etc. if possible.

When in 2.5K Mode there is a ~3.2x Crop Factor (FF Equivalent). In the 1080 RAW standard mode, it's just the normal APSC 1.6x Crop.

When you say 2.4k setting, do you mean it's from the 2.5k preset downscaled to 2.4k?
The settings are in the video. I used 2.8K Mode, set 2:1 aspect ratio and used the 2.4K resolution.

I bought an M50m2, 18-150 and 11-22. Such a small and capable system. I use it mainly for photography, not so much video.
Awesome! Great combo 👌🎥🔥 The 18-150 is so handy, and the M50 takes some of the nicest RAW images I've seen.

Even if the switch is set to MF? Try downgrading firmware if you can.

The metabones speedbooster EF to EOS M. I also use the Viltrox Speedbooster with my 10-18 but not in this video.

Full frame 24mm is nice, especially Canon FD. It's just these crop modes require stabilisation. But a Tamron 24-70 F2.8 IS would be nice.

Maybe, if I find it at a good price. The M can look very filmic with the right gimbal. It's just that I will need to go back to using batteries 😆

Cheers, likewise! The kit lens honestly are as good as this lens, maybe a tiny bit inferior, but no one can tell. All ISO 400 for those night shots yep! No noise reduction was used, it wasn't too noisy, but I think UA-cam compression helps.

@@alankowalewski All lowlight were shot with 2.4K ISO 400. I like higher resolution for low light. Even 2.8K 2.35:1 should be fine and use available light from streets, cars etc. if possible.
