the simple models gain so much from some detailing... this one is kind of cute. :)
love the colour, it suits the shapes well. :)
bummer about the smart phone vs tablet thing. who woulda'thunk they wouldn't talk to each other? the footage sounded like old war stories, though. ;) the war on old paint, done with acoustic soda... XD
🤣🤣 cheers Lothar, yes it was a shame thy didn't talk or just me not knowing how to operate them properly.
Glad you liked it my friend 😀
Well what can one say, You have done it again, you make yours look so nice apart from your forked paint brush. Take care all the best Bob. PS my wife is not happy with you she wanted to use the hammer and chisel job on it🤓 👍👍🙏

Hi Martin it may be a quick one but wow what a transformation. It really turned out wonderful and great job on the detailing really made it come to life.👍 Something odd happened to me the other day. I went to fill up my ford at the servo that's service station in English lol and just as I rolled up to the pump my exhaust became louder it sounded like a motor boat. The first thing I thought was oh no it sounds like the catalytic convertor had given up the ghost. The funny thing is that when I got it up on my ramps and had a look all I could see was that two very rusty bolts were loose. I have no idea how two bolts could come that loose all of a sudden especially as when I tried to tighten them up they wouldn't budge. I had to spray them with penetrating oil and they slowly started to move then I tightened them up and it has fixed the problem. The only thing I can think is that some bugger tried to pinch my catalytic convertor and could only get the bolts undone enough to make it loose. It doesn't explain how I was able to drive to the station without noticing weird hu? Dub in music from the twilight zone here........Catch you next time mate.👍👍
Hi Geoff, its big business over here stealing catalic converters, thay have some one go around and put a cable tie around the wheel to mark it .
Iam glad you liked this one .
I hope you are both well .
All the best martin 👍
Well done Guv'nor;)
Cheers paul 👍
Looks great
Thanks very much its greatly appreciated my friend
Nice one Martin ,Great Rest'o of the Austin Devon ,when do we go for a drive in her ?.Rob.
When ever we can get in it 🤣🤣.
Glad you liked it ,all the best martin 👍
Really nice detailing on the bumpers, Martin - I like that a lot: I might strip my old Devon van and do the same! I also do the glove trick, but we get Japanese 'lady driver' gloves in plain cotton, which are finer. I try not to wear them when I'm out!
Nice simple casting to do, and a bold colour, which kind of suits. Good one!
🤣🤣🤣 not a good look whilst your out .
The bumpers certainly look better lik this .
All the best martin 👍
Hi Austin had their car factory at longbridge all that remains is a sign board showing different areas where the buildings were in sainsbury on there cafe wall shows all the different motors that were built
Thanks Bobby, that's interesting info 👍
All the best martin 👍
Your painting skills are thankfully better than your singing Martin. Another cracking restoration the casting has been brought to life using your flair for detailing.
So there's no point me trying to get a record deal then its got to be better then the crap thay tun out today 🤣🤣😅
A 1948--50 Austin , I be given me longjohns and two pieces of silver for one of them there Dinkys . My brother owned a real one in the early 1960s, it was in a dark brown U.P.S. color .Soke everything in 5% vinager for 12 hours . I have asked other restorers where did you get those rubber tires? I have done detailing with a tooth pick .
I will try the vinegar method, I have done some details with the cocktail stick its good for doing small lights ,
The tryes i get from ebay, if you look under diecast vehicles sub section parts and accessories you will find a few sellers on there ,those were 15mm smoth .
you make painting the bumpers harder than it has to be , in that instance using the side of the brush rather than the point is far better also use a pallate and thin the paint a little martin instead of straight from the tin ,,,,, watch a couple of the pro warhammer painters , particularly edge highlighting they give many painting tips that i wish i'd learned many years ago , miniac and duncan rhodes are two good channels
also thinning and using a pallate means you can use the twist and pull back method to maintain your brushes point
didnt like the colour you chose prefer white but did a good job liked the rivets you put in makes the job quicker easier
Thanks Geoff, I appreciate your honesty my friend, I did think about the white, but a few people have done that colour.
All the best martin 👍
Dinky toys diecast. Restoration Austin Devon. No152. 1954 1960. Okay ✅
Cheers Kenny, much appreciated my friend
Both designated A40. Thing the Somerset followed on from the Devon
Cheers for the information Ian .
Hi Martin
How do you accurately drill holes for the rivets and what size do you use?
Hi Mark, once the base plate is of use a centre punch ,and then a 2.5mm drill bit . .I hope this helps
All the best martin 👍
humbrol aluminium is more authentic to the original factory silver molotov is far too shiny for a restoration and is more suitable for a code 3 build
Yes I use the humbrol aluminium metal cote
I want to give away my i/43 collection Are you interested?
Yes I would be interested that would be excellent and very generous 😀
!00 % I was born in "57.
So was I August 2nd
not for me,this one,Martin.
No worries my friend I appreciate your honesty as always.
All the best martin 👍
