15 years of reading books every single day! Even if I come home late at night exhausted, I read at least for 10 min, if not 60. There's no better way to learn, evolve and relax than reading books. Please don't give it up guys. Even 10 min daily of uninterrupted reading of a book will add a lot of value. Keep reading!

There is no warm feeling than reading your favourite book on a rainy day, covered in cozy blankets with a cup of coffee in your hand. The smell of fresh books, hiding pieces of an old love such as dry flowers, old photographs, and hazy letters as bookmarks. Oh my my! How could anything digital ever replace that? Books are eternal gifts.

The Sherlock Holmes detective mysteries by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are fun reads. If you like things a bit more on the macabre side, Edgar Allen Poe write lots of short stories and poems.
Palki Sharma is the GOAT of story telling. Her delivery is impeccable. You get hooked listening to her right from her first lines. I sometimes ask myself if I can possess this type of skill and what it would take to achieve that; I end up giving up thinking. But after watching this video, it seems I have found the true answer: intense focus and deep attention to detail; one way to achieve those two values would be giving more of my time and attention to books, especially physical books. Thank you Ms Palki.

I'm proud to say I read on a daily basis and have been doing so for years now. Earlier, access to books was a bit harder since there are no public libraries and the like around me, but with the pandemic and online classes, I got my first phone. No looking back. Probably not a single day has gone without reading. Heck I am subscribed to multiple newsletters, it's not just fiction that I read. Though nothing beats a physical book.
I love reading, it improved my listening skills, communication skills, truly books are best friends ❤ I love hearing to Palki, whatever she brings to the table, it will always be helpful
Reading ebooks, listening to audiobooks are also best way of sticking to daily learning practice and adapts to current generation. Nowadays children's are more exposed to visual learning through animations to understand concepts even better which was quite hard when reading via books.. preparation through visual learning aids in creativity, better learning and practical understanding which was impossible in the past where school labs are the only ways for better understanding. Thanks to firstpost and Madam Palki Sharma for this topic and it was quite useful
That's true but learning and understanding is one thing, expression is another. The ability to express and articulate can best be developed by reading books. Same way traditional classroom teaching method cannot be replaced by Online learning, reading books can't be replaced by listening podcasts.
@@nobodycares3953 it will place verymuch less emphasis on reading books, if you learned grammar in elementary school that should be enough to express yourself, i would think speaking several languages more important than reading and writing in only 1 perfectly
@@achillesglacia7700I somewhat disagree, not completely though. As someone who knows 6 languages, including how to read them at least, a few I can write also, it is not just about expressing oneself. The words can fire one's imagination in ways that is sometimes difficult or different than learning something visually. Giving a small example here. Read a book and then watch a movie. Seldom the movie lives upto your imagination. Also words, when read, can mean something else entirely to one person than it would to another when not expressed vocally/without emotion. We interpret the emotions and meaning for ourselves. This by no means discredits visual learning. Both have their pros and cons.

Last year in May, I had 4 books which I read over past 5 years, but within a year, today I've read more than 40 books, not by watching any video, or getting hyped up by someone, but by genuinely investing myself into it. Whenever I talk about a book I've read in front of others, 99% of them just seem to be bored by it, or simply just listening to get through this part of the conversation as quick as possible. Well, I do not read for others, I'll continue to read for the rest of my life and continue to gain knowledge Thanks for the one like and your precious time
I too discovered a newfound love for reading during the pandemic. Instead of my usual routine like singing or mindlessly scrolling through my Instagram reels, I decided to explore the world books. There’s something truly magical about the feel of a physical book in your hands, the sensation of turning each pages as you immerse yourself in a different world. It’s been an interesting experience and I am absolutely activated by the power of literature. Reading has become a cherished part of my life and I look forward to exploring more literary adventures. It has become more than a past time, it’s source of joy and inspiration that has enriched my life.
First one to comment, I will gladly say I read books, it's a habit that my mother instilled in me, Most of our jobs require us to read a lot on several topics, lots of people like to read the newspaper still, a large number of people like reading ebooks in their tabs and kindles, more and more people are taking new interest in ancient India and want to read the ancient texts, lots are learning new languages in Duo Lingo and similar apps.... I can assure you that reading is most definitely not dead and never will be. Those that love it will keep it alive, always.
@@Pres7 well there are many... Depends on what you want to read. All the books has teachings on life and spirituality but some are stories some are extracts some are teachings and so on. On life : 1. The Bhagvad Gita On Hinduism and Ancient ways : 1. The 12 Upanishads 2. The 4 Veds 3. The Purans Epics : 1. Ramayan 2. Mahabharat On Economics : Arthashastra On Medicine and Surgery : Susruta Samhita On Mathematics : Aryabhatia On Sex : Kamasutra There are many many more.
Brilliant! I had been thinking about this for a while now and wondering if reading was really dead among the youth. I myself am reading the 'Chip War' now which is a fascinating world of technology competition between countries.
Books are the best friends that a person can have. A good book can transform the trajectory of a person in a whole new direction. As Mark Twain rightly said, "One who does not read good books has no advantage over a person who can't". Currently, I am reading the Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz
I'm 20, I've recently read my first novel 1984 by george orwell, as a student we read education books all the time but getting immersed into the world of fiction is a unique and peaceful experience and I've found myself loving it so far. Talking about books, I definitely think you are capable and in a position to write a book on STORYTELLING. Currently i am reading 1. The art of public speaking by Dale Carnegie 2. 48 laws of Power by Robert Green 3. Meditation by Marcus Aurelius
It's crazy what the economic outlook looks like. Early stages of a recession, layoffs, people leaving, because we're tired. I wonder what the economy would morph into. Has anybody been making any profits from the market in the current economic market? My money isn't even safe in the bank. SVB just collapsed. What's next? Please, anybody with tips on how I can get started in the stock market, I'll appreciate.
Concentrate on two main objectives. First, keep yourself safe by knowing when to sell stocks in order to limit losses and maximize gains. Second, get ready to benefit from market changes. I advise consulting a CFP or other professional for advice.
I remember when I was dropped from Airbnb a couple years ago. I dusted off and moved on. All we need is a good old book. So true! I am currently reading Mailbu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This beautiful book is about family and it shows you how family can be the people that love you more than anything else in the world but also the ones that cause you the most amount of heartbreak. The fact that the entire storyline of this book takes place throughout one single night but you're still able to dive in and know so much about every individual character is a reading experience of its own.
Greetings from South Africa. THANK YOU so much for this. I'm 66 years old and have been reading my entire life. I would be an extremely diminished man without a good BOOK

Ms Palki Sharma is an amazingly a great story narrator, and I always get a new information from her worth remembering. Fantastic. I recently bought 5 books 📚 for gathering knowledge on dreams, sleep, our senses, what is life and neuro science of spirituality.
Reading is a beautiful experience... The smell of books ... The texture of paper ... For me these tangible things add an essence to the overall experience. Then there is the thrill of reading ... The anxiousness to know what comes next ... The way a book ending makes you feel ... You cry or laugh with the characters .... Sadly the burden of studies has estranged me from my dear hobby of reading . But thanks to this video, I plan to pick up a book soon.

Excellent episode. I love to read books. There's nothing comparable to the smell of an old book, or a fresh one. There's no comparison to the feeling of turning a page, or flipping through pages of two or three books and one time in a research project.

I remember when I was young I used to visit our distant rich relative. They had a Settee in the hall which had 3 cupboards crammed with paper backs.I used to take one book out of it (Perry Mason,Agatha Christie) and went on reading for hours together. The head of the family observed this and allowed me to take home as many books as I want. I remember finishing the whole lot within few months. Such was a fascination of books for me.

There is no warm feeling than reading your favourite book on a rainy day, covered in cozy blankets with a cup of coffee in your hand. But after watching this video, it seems I have found the true answer: intense focus and deep attention to detail; one way to achieve those two values would be giving more of my time and attention to books, especially physical books.

Yes... This is fact. I am also reading less than my previous years... Chenged to degital platform. But not completely changed...
Now I am reading " why Bharat Matters" written by jay Shankar
I noticed the decline when all the used bookstores started closing here in CA. Then the mainstream stores started closing down. Now it seems if you want a book you go online. I remember reading every day as a child, and now I'm here on YT on my smart phone. The combining of everything onto your phone has made it a problem for sure. Once we hit the '90's we really hit the sweet spot with technology and real life. I wish we could go back.
NO , READING'S NOT DEAD
I read for 20-25 minutes daily and follow it as a morning ritual with no distractions . It's one of the best time I spend doing in my whole day.
Currently I'm reading " Man's search for meaning "

Thanks for your encouragement. Your Gravitas program has been excellent. My best wishes to you and all the family members.
This year I bought 8 NOVELS & 2 STORY BOOKS. Now I understand y books r important ❤❤❤😊
For me books are like my first love. No matter what, I can go back and get engrossed in the same story that I've already read 2-3 times. The experience is beautiful. The satisfaction of completing a book is something else. I, for one can never ever give up reading because it takes me away to another world full of surprises....

Brilliant analysis madam!!...As always, you are on spot and never beating around the bush.
The topic you have spoken today on reading books should be shown to every teacher in schools, colleges and to parents too.

The title of the book I am currently reading is "The Ancestral Sacrifice" authored by Kaakyire Akosombo Nyantakyi a Ghanaian writer. Reading has been one of my childhood hobbies.
Excellent content. Always preferred physical book over ebook. Read newspaper everyday because I love reading. Mobile has many benefits but It's also highly distracting.
❤Thank you for this beautiful video! Reading these days is a struggle for me too. Presently, I'm on the book titled "How to be Exceptional"
So true... I am glad, even in this so-called social media world, I still find some time for reading. Thank you Palki for covering such an important topic in today's world. Love your work. 👏

I am a 57 year old man and proponent of the written page.
Please keep up the great (none-bias) journalism.
How awesome that must have been!!! I read through an entire lending library, albeit a small, but crammed one😅😅😅. And because of that I got some free books and discounted prices on books that I wanted to buy, from our library uncle. That library is no longer there😢 but those emotions and memories remain. Thanx for the great reminder!
@@sunchi1461 Great 👍
I absolutely agreed .
People now a days spent lot of time on social meadia, twitter and all. They want to change themselves but again and again they were trapped by there phone . In the last few days I have read 2 novels. I can see the changes in me and my mind clearly. And I also motivate people to read books. Infact Today I want to give a book to my friend on his birthday. ❤
2022 I decided to read self-help book and 2023 I finished almost 15 novels. Reading keep me updated n I feel growing day by day. Note to myself is - 1% better everyday.

@@human2443I would recommend - Who moved my cheese by Spencer Johnson / Alchemist by Paulo Coelho / The Monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma / Any books written by Sudha Murthy - these are some of the easiest and best books to get you into the mood of reading as they are easily understandable and also keeps you interested in the book

You need a lot more than just books if you read self-help books, I'm afraid
I have been reading since my childhood and till date (I am 46) almost every night for a minimum of 10 mins to 30 mins. I cannot live without books. I love to encourage others around me to read too.
Over the years I have found reading books therapeutic. Like meditation, reading good books can take up away from our reality into a whole new world of imagination (even non-fiction ones). I'm old school so only read printed books, which I accumulate until I have to move houses. Yet, reading books remains a passion and keeps me away from toxic social media platforms.
