Pyrenees and St. Bernard? What a mix... guaranteed to be HUGE, and a mix of that protective instinct from the Pyrs and the loving gentleness of the Bernard? What a dog!
Oh yea I have a pitty/boxer mix & 100%. Thinks he's tiny as can be. I think partly cuz when he was a pup used to sleep in our laps lol he was so small now he's 90 pounds
Actually both are a protective breed and Pyrenees are known to be the most gentle of the guard breed. Either way Winter is a beautiful mix of both really good dogs!
St. Bernards aren't always gentle. Regardless of their reputation, always been on guard around dogs because if another dog has upset them, they can turn on people around them. She even stated that a nervous or upset dog can become aggressive. I have known one (St. Bernard) who turned and viciously attacked their owner and another who attempted to rip out the throat of a 6 yr old child who had not been interacting with the dog at all. The child suffered only a minor injury because I jumped in front of her and the dog was physically deflected by my body and only sliced her ear.
I appreciate that time was taken to settle him down and acclimatise him. He appeared to be a placid fluffy cloud of a massive canine and the grooming could not have gone any better. He looked good to begin with but Marvellous at the end ❤
That's the same dog that growled and barked at the cameraman like "BACK OFF! I AM PROTECTING THIS SMALL LADY!" 😃 I was hoping we'd see Winter again, but I didn't think it was this soon! He's such a big floofy boi!
Ah, I knew that I have seen him before. I kinda found that video funny because of this dog's wariness. He kept giving the side eye to the camera man. No wonder there is no camera man now LOL.
One day my partner and I were attempting to bathe our German Shepherd, an epic challenge at the best of times. We donned our goggles and raincoats, got the bathtub prepped with a non-slip mat and were in the midst of rinsing him, when the doorbell rang. I went to answer the door, fully masked, raincoat dripping, (being soaking wet) the dog was howling, and upon opening the door, my neighbour looked at me and said, “I don’t even want to know”.
Winter is such a handsome fella - and such a massive softie! He seems like the kind of doggo who would happily let his owner snuggle up with him like a gigantic teddy bear and take a nap! ❤ A very good boi indeed deserving of all the snuggles and smooches his owner(s) give him! 😊
He is absolutely stunning, and I want to hug him just like you did. I would gladly suffer all the allergies from doing so - itchy skin, nose, eyes, and throat, everything, just for hugs and cuddles with a dog so sweet and fluffy.
Compared to Winter’s last video, his behavior’s improved a lot! Obviously he’s still showing signs of wariness & anxiety, but it’s pretty remarkable how much calmer he is for this groom. Taking the time for him to get comfortable pre-groom definitely helped a lot! Props to you & Winter’s owner! *Edit: Winter’s improved behavior isn’t just because the cameraman’s absent in this video. In his first grooming video, I could sense from his body language he had a lot of fear & anxiety around _all_ people, including Vanessa. He’s also part Great Pyrenees-an already fiercely independent & protective breed known for being wary around strangers (which makes sense since they’re livestock guardians). Couple that in with him not being professionally groomed that often, & ofc he’s gonna be anxious. I’m just glad that she recognized what stressors were triggering Winter (in this case the cameraman) & didn’t have him present for Winter’s groom to see how he would respond. It shows how much she genuinely cares for a dog’s comfort & well-being, & I admire that a lot.

I just started learning how to groom as a “job”… it doesn’t really feel like work and sometimes I find myself wanting to go back and “work” some more after I’m off lol
I think she loves her job, but oh she's definitely doing work! not all of it is enjoyable. It's actually hard for that saying to be true, particularly when often if one's passion becomes their job, the passion part kind of goes away, because it's their job they now MUST do to earn money, which isn't really in the spirit of a passion/hobby. our pyrenees mix HAS the biggest dog bed available, but it's mostly the cats who sleep there - she prefers the floor or the couch with her humans. she eats a very expensive amount of dry and wet food and she can travel in the car just fine :)
What a beautiful animal he is and the groomer is not only and expert at her job, but I love that she shows so much affection for the dog. What a handsome boy he is!!
My beautiful 13 yr Pyr just went to the Rainbow Bridge and I miss her so much. We were together everyday but 5 days in 13 years and I feel like a giant piece is missing. Yes, she was huge (154 lbs) but one of the gentlest, sweetest, kindest dogs I've ever known. A Pyr/St. Bernard mix would be awesome. Winter is such a sweetheart. The barking/shyness is a Pyr trait. Brie was the same way. She was very wary of people but very protective of me and the rest of the fur babies. Damn. Now I'm crying.
I am sorry for your loss. My daughter adopted a half pyr, 1/4 GSD, and 1/4 Belgian Malinois. She is very cautious. She has been with us since November, and every time she is in the yard and I go out she reacts like she doesn’t know who I am! She has a very sweet disposition though, and is almost to the point of not bothering my chickens. Truly losing a dog, especially of that age is very painful, your memories will make you cry for a long time, but eventually they will just make you smile.
Such a stunningly beautiful boy!! Your hug at the end gives an accurate picture of just how big he really is - and how petite you are in comparison. I'm glad he's gentle!
What I love most - is his mom and dad get to see the care you put in to him as well as the big loving hug. Winter you were awesome and so gorgeous - before and after. Big teddy bear.
I really like hearing you talk through your train of thought and why you do things the way that you do them. You took several steps all throughout the groom to make him feel more secure and to keep the both of you safe. I love hearing you talk about your work!
I’m sure it just comes with the job, but I love how reassuring you are to the puppers. We need a “good boy/girl” count in the corner of every video ❤ you’re so sweet
Winter is such a sweet giant teddy bear, I can't help but to notice the spot on his bum it's kind of heart shaped. He really is cute. Thank you for all you do Vanessa.❤
You are the pinnacle of what the platform and UA-cam can really be. Doing stuff for free for people who would never get enough money to do it. Helping our Angels the beloving 4 legged buddies. You simply are an amazing person and UA-camr.
I think that when Winter is trying to "squish" you into the corner, he's just showing you that he loves you. Don't dogs lean against a person that they like? I think that he's doing that is partly because you talk to him very reassuringly. I'm so glad you hugged him!
I just get a real laugh at how all the dogs look at you when you spray them with something like you’re a ‘perfume lady’ from a department store in the 80’s! 😂
I had a St Bernard from the original Chris Kringle line. This brought back so many memories. The matting wasn’t so severe but he was 210lbs and really awkward to move, lift or do anything, really. Grooming was laborious but he was such a loving boy and a great snuggler….my beautiful lumbering buddy. He lived 12; years which is a long time for a dog of his size. His hips finally gave out😢
if you don't mind me asking, what does chris kringle mean and whats it mean for a st. bernard? i mean no offense i am just interested. moreover, i'm sorry for your loss. i'm glad this video could bring back some loving memories of your good boy for you.
@@gracecalis5421 I believe the Chris Kringle line was a breeder who adhered to the original aspects of the St Bernard. He kept the breed consistent with the original. Even his claws were sharp, almost cat like which helped him dig into ice. The coat color was consistent, the droopy eyes and jowls, everything. As he got older the droopy eyes were causing dry eyes so I did get an ectropion procedure done to lift his lower lids up so they fit around the eye better. This helped stop the dry eye issue. By the time his jowls became a problem he was getting on in age and we decided to live with it since it didn’t bother him.
I will say that to someone trapped in an avalanche, when a Saint Bernard appears above you, it looks like it has wings. It's an angel. Amazing dogs, amazing hearts.
To be honest, you did an incredible job working that fast with a dog like this. The double blower helps a lot during this process. Well done, hope every owner could see the work behind a dog of this size and the knowledge you should carry around you to handle it correctly.
ONE of the many things I admire about you is how you really don't care about anything but the well being of the dogs. Example, head in the shower, or not, oh well the floor needed watering anyway. Those dogs feel that attitude, your personality wins them over. You're extremely knowledgeable in your profession and quite talented. Off the wall subject, your hands always look so beautiful. Believe it or not, people notice these things, they just are afraid to compliment people these days.
Well said. My mantra is, always say a nice thought if you think it of a person. I mean, so long as it’s not weird, lol. You never know if someone is having a bad day and you could just make their day with your compliment.
@@naia1362 Yeah, I said that. You never offer fingers to sniff with a unfamiliar dog in case they bite first. That's why you offer a the back of your hand or fist.
He looks so gentle and nice, makes me wanna pet him. I love how kind and patient who are with him. And when you dry him : so much hair, a storm of it ! I thought about becoming a groomer once but just bathing my dog was breaking my back. It's so physical !
I had a Great Pyrenees as a child and they are great big loving dogs. My GP Sherry would give the kids in the neighborhood rides on her back. She was so sweet and loving. 🤍

I wonder how many appointments she can manage a day. Just saw the video with the Komondor dog, took 5 hours to groom. Anyway, hats down for you to be able to give these dog the necessary care and also love. Big round of applause.
If I'm not mistaken, I heard she said in another video that she grooms one dog per day as the salon also has another groomer. Correct me if Im wrong. ✌🏼
@@sitinoorain6913 I would think that if she KNOWS the dog and has had them before, she can estimate. So this puppy was 2 hours. All she would need to do is to plug in other clients that don't take that long. I wouldn't think she would be able to survive on grooming one client a day... (I could be wrong though)
I love the dichotomy you see in dogs. Tiny dog that you can dropkick: *chooses violence* Fluffy absolute unit that weighs more than you do: _I'm skeeerd!_
I think it's probably a combination of them raised in an environment where they are treated like big ol babies and self awareness of how bad they could jack somebody up. I had a little dog bite the s*** out of me once, and when I started bleeding, it had a look of "oh s*** what did I just do."
Winter is a gentle giant. You did an awesome job getting Winter calmed for the pampering session. This video led viewers to my channel. Thanks so much 💕.
Stunning. Winter is beautiful with a precious demeanor. Spring meadow sounds like a nice touch. Hope the other dogs in the neighborhood don't give him a hard time for his refreshing domesticated look and smell. Surely his neighbors had the same wash and glow, clean-up, spray and sparkle. Love it.
Fifteen years ago, my mother adopted a St.Bernard-Rough Collie mix puppy, who weighed probably 20 lbs. at 8 weeks old. He was a little fuzzball then. He grew. And grew. And grew. And when he was done growing, he was a handsome 112-lb. Dog with a magnificent tail. He only lived to 3-1/2 years old, due to Sarcoma in his nose. His name was Mike, and he was soo sweet! Just the sweetest dog go! I wished he’d lived longer…. 😢
I would love a video tour of your grooming space. Watching Winter water your floor I was trying to remember how big your metal raised shower was, a tour of your facility and why you habve the equipment you do would be awesome!
For that length of grooming time your pricing seems incredibly reasonable! Especially considering the labour involved and therapeutic handling of such a nervous marshmallow. 😄 You have a really great quality head-camera too! Is it a go-pro?
Congrats on coming out with some doggy products! That’s awesome, I’m so glad that you’ve found a supportive community on UA-cam that allows you to explore this kind of stuff. You’re a great groomer and a great content creator. Hope your line sells out!!
I can imagine a physical fitness test with you could be comical. Trainer: you’re very fit, you must visit the gym daily.” GWTD: “Nope. I regularly groom small bears.”

It always makes me happy that you care about these animals safety and well being over your own comfort. Yes, it would be easier to groom him if the table was higher. But you cared more about his safety than your comfort ♥
No cameraman, no problem for Winter? Maybe not quite, he's still a big baby - but he didn't have his mortal enemy to growl at and give death stares to. It's interesting to watch more than one video of the same dog and see how they behave on different days. Because dogs are people too and definitely have their moods. We all know that.

our pyrenees mix HAS the biggest dog bed available, but it's mostly the cats who sleep there - she prefers the floor or the couch with her humans. she eats a very expensive amount of dry and wet food and she can travel in the car just fine :)
WOW, he is a PRETTY DOG, and a BIG BOY TOO!!!! You handled him so well!!!!
What a beautiful animal he is and the groomer is not only and expert at her job, but I love that she shows so much affection for the dog. What a handsome boy he is!!
Vanessa is amazing at what she does
@@XxEmoGothOutcastxX 👍💖
It is not a male, but a female. Ha, ha,ha NB: The male would be even bigger 🙂
@@felixniederhauser7799 You're either trolling or ignorant cause that dog has a penis.
Oh my I'm so sorry but I hope you know she is watching across the Rainbow Bridge protecting you and your family I wish you well and she love you ❤
Gentle hugs to you. You will see her again 🐾💗
💀
I am sorry for your loss. My daughter adopted a half pyr, 1/4 GSD, and 1/4 Belgian Malinois. She is very cautious. She has been with us since November, and every time she is in the yard and I go out she reacts like she doesn’t know who I am! She has a very sweet disposition though, and is almost to the point of not bothering my chickens. Truly losing a dog, especially of that age is very painful, your memories will make you cry for a long time, but eventually they will just make you smile.
*Zen hugs*
She was so reassuring that at the end, he decided to make her house his home.
I don’t know why, but his demeanor makes me think that he would address people as sir/madame in a deep calming voice.
In the story of his life, this dog would be voiced by Sam Elliot.
With a lisp, too!
I don't know...that look he is throwing @12:50 indicates otherwise.
What a big floofer!!!! These dogs are wonderful. My friend has 4 of them, they protect his goats and chickens from the coyotes.
At 11:30 look at how small she is compared to this behemoth, incredible!
because she's a hobbit 😂
It's cute😊
@@UsulPrincess Yup. Vanessa is 4'10"
She looks so tiny next to him on the table! He is huge! Adorable!
I think that when Winter is trying to "squish" you into the corner, he's just showing you that he loves you. Don't dogs lean against a person that they like? I think that he's doing that is partly because you talk to him very reassuringly. I'm so glad you hugged him!
he reminds me so much of my huge greyhound, who squishes us up against the wall all the time
Dogs hug like that. Sometimes they seek comfort
Beautiful cloud pup! I want to hug him so bad🤧
He must have enjoyed the session as he left you a tip at the end 😆
A lot of work and reasonably priced, too. Thanks for posting!
That whitening shampoo really made his coat look so bright white! He’s beautiful ❤
I just get a real laugh at how all the dogs look at you when you spray them with something like you’re a ‘perfume lady’ from a department store in the 80’s! 😂
😅😅😅
That's such a great analogy! 😂
Aww, winter is so adorable
I'm so hooked on this woman's videos! She's brilliant, a master of her craft, and a magician with difficult dogs.
His hips finally gave out😢
He must've been really cared for to have lived so long
if you don't mind me asking, what does chris kringle mean and whats it mean for a st. bernard? i mean no offense i am just interested. moreover, i'm sorry for your loss. i'm glad this video could bring back some loving memories of your good boy for you.
Im sure he had a great life with you so while it is painful it is also the price we as owners pay. Wishing all the best !
Winter is so frigging adorable. And so are YOU! Thanks for loving the animals, dear girl. ❤
Wow he's absolutely adorable. So beautiful.
Winter left you a lovely reminder gift…😂😂😂. He is so gorgeous and was so well behaved..he turned out beautiful!!!
'Aw that's nice. Thank you for that' 😅
You're calm voice and patience makes you a perfect dog groomer. Few people could rise to the challenge of such a career.
Vanessa: “you could take me out easily”
Great Pyrenees: “oh no, my gentle giant heart wouldn’t allow it…time for cuddles isn’t it?”
To be honest, you did an incredible job working that fast with a dog like this. The double blower helps a lot during this process.
Well done, hope every owner could see the work behind a dog of this size and the knowledge you should carry around you to handle it correctly.
What a giant sweetheart! Winter is such a beautiful fluff-ball.
:40, Quite surprised her offering finger treats to bite, instead of offering the back of the hand to sniff first.
@@naia1362 Yeah, I said that. You never offer fingers to sniff with a unfamiliar dog in case they bite first. That's why you offer a the back of your hand or fist.
@David Deel, yes people do notice these things. I’ve often wondered how she keeps her nails so nice with their being in water a lot of the day.
😊
The parting shot after his hug was hilarious, he's so tired and as beautiful he looks from his groom, his eyes say "I'm donezo".
Winter is beautiful! And so well behaved, too.
I just want to hug Winter! He was so good during the groom and his coat looks gorgeous
Winter is like a big fluffy marshmallow. I love watching your videos. You have a magnificent way handling the beautiful furries! You do such amazing grooming for all the pups and cats! Thank you for sharing these precious moments ❤️
I wonder how many appointments she can manage a day. Just saw the video with the Komondor dog, took 5 hours to groom. Anyway, hats down for you to be able to give these dog the necessary care and also love. Big round of applause.
I'm also here direct from the Komondor and after 6 hours of that I would want a week off 😂
If I'm not mistaken, I heard she said in another video that she grooms one dog per day as the salon also has another groomer.
He looks marvelous. The whitening shampoo made such a beautiful difference.
I love the dichotomy you see in dogs.
Tiny dog that you can dropkick: *chooses violence*
Fluffy absolute unit that weighs more than you do: _I'm skeeerd!_
People have only bred the ones with a proper temperament.
@@edheldude...obviously this is not true lmao
"Absolute unit" 😆
I think it's probably a combination of them raised in an environment where they are treated like big ol babies and self awareness of how bad they could jack somebody up. I had a little dog bite the s*** out of me once, and when I started bleeding, it had a look of "oh s*** what did I just do."
if you try dropkicking the tiny vicious ones they'll chomp onto your leg and you'll have to live with them forever. In shorts?
He is so beautiful. The blend of two great breeds with gentle personalities.
No doubt really loved by his family.
Double hair dryers!! What a beautiful boy!!!
I love how she reduces the shakes. She knows dogs so well
Winter is a gentle giant. You did an awesome job getting Winter calmed for the pampering session.
This video led viewers to my channel. Thanks so much 💕.
And the way Winter looked at her after the hug was precious , love & gratitude ❤
What a sweet floof! His marking are so interesting: I love the monocle!
OMG floof monocle 🧐
Sadly, that brown spot on his bum makes it look as though he sat in his own doodle.
What a well-behaved boy Winter is. You were wonderful with him and I am sure he will look forward to his next visit. ❤
I would love a video tour of your grooming space. Watching Winter water your floor I was trying to remember how big your metal raised shower was, a tour of your facility and why you habve the equipment you do would be awesome!
You did such a fantastic job. He is such a beautiful pup. Thank you for sharing
For that length of grooming time your pricing seems incredibly reasonable! Especially considering the labour involved and therapeutic handling of such a nervous marshmallow. 😄 You have a really great quality head-camera too! Is it a go-pro?
💯for this hairy big guy $250 to start
My groomer is seriously undercharging me what she could for my nervous moose dog. I try to leave a big tip as a thank you.
Big floofy baby!! I seriously wish I could pet and hug him!!
Congrats on coming out with some doggy products! That’s awesome, I’m so glad that you’ve found a supportive community on UA-cam that allows you to explore this kind of stuff. You’re a great groomer and a great content creator. Hope your line sells out!!
I would easily pay $200 for your services. You are a true professional at a tough job which most people could not do, thank you.
I can imagine a physical fitness test with you could be comical. Trainer: you’re very fit, you must visit the gym daily.” GWTD: “Nope. I regularly groom small bears.”
Lol.
😂😂 🥇
I remember there was a woman Survivor contestant who outperformed all of the men on a strength challenge, and she was in her ‘50s. She was a dog groomer.
@@mahenonz Any more info on that so i can check it out? I have a hard time believing it.
@@NisseCrusader Knowing what i know about biology i honestly have a very hard time believing it either:
Omg, we have a Great Pyrenees /St. Bernard, Oliver! The smartest, most gentle giant! Can't take him anywhere without people admiring his handsomeness! 💜 🐾
Love his smile, when you told him he‘s so cute! 😍
0:04 Wow, that's a big mix of big breeds 😅
The floofiest of floofs, and the goodest of boys. 💙
Truest of the Truths. 😀
Vanessa: "I could probably ride you."
Winter: "Don't even think of putting a saddle on me. I'm too cute."
Winter: "Touche"
now i have an epic soundboard clip that is SO out of context.
Gorgeous dog…❤ and he was doing his level best to calm down despite his fear…you handled him beautifully!
what a great choice of name for him, it’s literally snowing from winter (while she was blowdrying him)
What a big, beautiful boy!! Also, I loved the dual-wielding of the dryers! Necessary with such a massive doggo. 😂❤
11:36 gave me true apprehension of how gigantic this dog is
It always makes me happy that you care about these animals safety and well being over your own comfort. Yes, it would be easier to groom him if the table was higher. But you cared more about his safety than your comfort ♥
He’s ADORABLE 🩵🩵🩵🙌🩵🩵🩵
No cameraman, no problem for Winter? Maybe not quite, he's still a big baby - but he didn't have his mortal enemy to growl at and give death stares to.
It's interesting to watch more than one video of the same dog and see how they behave on different days. Because dogs are people too and definitely have their moods. We all know that.
What an adorable floofer! ❤🥰
I'll bet he gives the best cuddles.
What a beautiful dog! With all that goes into grooming him, it sounds like $200 well spent.
she does it for free!!! all her clients get a free grooming from her. she cares about animals so much she doesnt even ask for payment. vanessa is so wholesome and a blessing to this world.
@@Zoopop13 I know that her success with videos has enabled her to offer some services for free in recent years (especially for animals from shelters or those with special needs), but I hope that she does charge people who can afford to pay for her services, because she works hard, employs other people, and deserves to have her labour valued.
@@feuilletonisteI know any animal we see groomed here on her channels is done at zero cost. I don't know if she does any grooming outside videos that would require payment. While I agree her work is incredible and she absolutely deserves to be compensated for it, ultimately it's up to her to decide if she wants to offer all grooms for free or not. I'm just glad she's gotten to a place where social media sustains her financially.
Beautiful dog and great animal knowledge and devoution. Bless you.
