  • In this unique build, our team will design and build a '91 Toyota mini truck for Xtreme off road capability. Solid axle swap, bob and dove tail the rear end are just a few how-to elements to this episode. Plus, it's off to Arizona for the Tucson Trail Dust Days trail run, and Jessi returns from her long absence.

This show is truly weird. Its like early 2000 but with HD cameras.
    I love it!

Everyone wonders why you never see these trucks anymore. It’s because this is what happened to all of them in the 2000s.

Crazy to think that stock pickup would go for 15-20k nowadays

I hold to the belief that the original 22-hour Toyota was the first side by side. Came with air conditioning too if you opt for it. And I can guarantee you get more miles out of it. They weren't just toys back then either some chunky 31s on it and you were in business! And you can still drive it to work.

As an old Tucson native may I correct your pronunciation? It’s not Charlottes Gap, it’s actually spelled Charouleau Gap and we pronounced it Sha-Roo-Low when I was younger, but it is regularly pronounced Shar-Low now.

Can I get the manual locking hub from that Toyota? I've been looking for one.

Not a fan of that 3.0 3vze engine. My uncle's blew on a shallow water crossing and my bro had 2 of them give out on him and we are true 4x4 enthusiasts. Not Toyotas finest engine by a long shot. That's why I've never blindly pushed the Toyota fanboyism

Sounds like your uncle abused it. I'd like to see any motor survive a hydrolock... For what it's worth, I had a 3.0 in my 91 4Runner that went 390,000 miles on the original factory head gasket (and the VIN showed that the head gasket recall hadn't been done on the truck). Toyota replaced it for free under the recall when it finally blew back in 2006. The 5VZ that came in the Tacoma and 3rd gen 4Runner made that all better, and the 1GR in the 3rd gen Tacoma is STELLAR. Not to mention the 2UZ they put in Land Cruisers, Tundras, 4Runners and GXs...

@@Tigerstripe40of course an engine can't survive hydrolock no one's expecting it too lol..
a water crossing that we all took on a trip. We were all there and did it ourselves. We even had another 3.0 4runner there which was my brothers. no one was abusing their rig. It's just a poor design for that truck. You can tell by opening the hood and seeing how cramped it is. My theory is that is was designed for the smaller 22r but Americans wanted more power
