I got the Dungeons and Dragons cookbook from a friend a few months ago. there are some great recipes in it as well as fun lore for the dishes, it seems like something right up your ally if you can find the book.
In the game there is a cookbook as well, and I made a soufflé from the cookbook from the game and it was pretty good. Also cool how there were actual recipes in the games cookbook.
It's really impressive how we went from the basic platformer-type games of the past to these super-detailed fleshed-out fantasy worlds in only a couple of decades
My favorite recipe idea from the book was the Ash Yams. Putting goat cheese in a sweet potato was something I never would've thought of, and it not only made me like sweet potatoes but made it so I can ONLY eat them with goat cheese.
@@spicybeantofu the real question is why would someone rely on lore from a cookbook and maybe just idk play the games and read the two books that Bethesda commissioned and are confirmed canon XD

Honestly this was a very good review. At first I was skeptical of the cookbook but after watching you cook and eat a couple of recipes and give your honest opinion has convinced me to get this cookbook and enjoy some sweet rolls, also Down With The Thalmor.
I've tried the Snowberry Cordial. I can say with certainty that the drinks are definitely worth a try. Also, the Elsweyr Fondue is an extremely tasteful delicacy worth trying as well.
The sweet nog is amazing! For the past two Christmases, I've been serving that to the family and it's a huge hit, much better than any other egg nog they've had! The juniper lamb chop is another good recipe, as well as the garlic bread, the sweet roll, and the skooma! I've also tried the mead recipes, and found the Black Briar Mead to be my favorite.
I own the book, and honestly? It feels really skewed towards Skyrim lore-wise. And a lot of it was just wrong, too. Like the author had only skimmed over a few Skyrim wiki pages, and made the rest up. But at least it teaches you to make mead, to drink the sorrow about that away.
Well Skyrim has become the most popular entry into the franchise and is where a lot of casual gamers started. It's sort of like how Fallout 3 has become the starting point.

My problem with the sweetroll was that the bread itself wasn't sweet. Yeah I mean I kinda expected it to be more of a Skyrim cookbook anyway since that’s the “household game” when it comes to TES and kinda gaming in general.
My biggest interest in this book was the sweet rolls recipe. Nerdy Nummies had a video on it before the book came out. I didn't make the NN recipe. But seeing the one in the book it makes me want to break out the mini-bundt tray that I got very specifically for this recipe... years ago!
Really loving these cookbook videos. I think the actual sections of the video where you are preparing and cooking the food could use some commentary though. Even if it is just you reading the instructions straight from the book. Keep making these!
I begged for this book for Christmas a couple years ago. I love it. I only ever made the chicken "dumplings" (they're hand pies, really) and the Skooma. Both turned out excellent. Sometimes I still browse the book. Might try the mead.
I made the Nord mead from this cookbook and it turned out absolutely delicious. It's my first time making anything alcoholic so I was a little worried it might turn out wrong (which would be a huge bummer, considering the time investment,) but I was really happy with the result. It's inspired me to try many more such recipes, and I'm crossing my fingers they turn out just as yummy.
I saw that recipe and it looked really intimidating because I also have never made anything alcoholic before. But the fact that it turned out great for you is making me more interested in going for it. Maybe I'll check it out!
@@MisoHungrie I highly recommend it! There are some wonderful forums out there for people who brew alcoholic drinks at home, and the people there can help you out every step of the way. I tried a lot of the recipes in TES cookbook. Many need tweaking or a little more salt/spice. My most favorite was the Imperial Mushroom Sauce. Nix the vinegar and add a little more salt and it's great with rice or on bread.
I made the sweet rolls the other day and I agree. The bread was great but the frosting was way too much. Next time I'm just going to brush it with a mixture of butter, honey and maybe some cinnamon.
@@MisoHungrie I found both to be very entertaining tbh. Two video ideas I think would be awesome would be Final Fantasy 15 foods and perhaps Monster Hunter.

I collect themed cookbooks like this...need to get the second Game of Thrones one that came out awhile ago since I already have A Feast of Ice and Fire..as someone who loves medieval themed games the Game of Thrones and Elder Scrolls cookbooks are pretty awesome for me, I do like that in the Game of Thrones cookbook (based more on the books actually) has both the historic AND modern versions of the recipes if you wanna give them a go.
I have that cookbook too! My friend got it for me awhile back and yeah I like the traditional and modern takes for each recipe. I gotta revisit that one day
@@MisoHungrie I like making the crusty white bread myself, nothing better than good fresh bread, it's my most used recipe in that book. My grandma insisted on learning how to make bread by hand before she'd let me get a bread machine back in the day and that has paid off big time when making medieval bread recipes which often don't have instructions for a bread machine.
5:42 That made me remember this one time, I killed a dragon just outside of a town, and immediately after, one of the guards that was JUST HELPING ME FIGHT THE DRAGON asked "Let me guess: somebody stole your sweet roll." Just... REALLY?!
So, I’ve got a copy of this book, given to me as a Christmas present from a friend three years back now. I’ve made a few of the dessert recipes, and honestly the best dessert from that cookbook to date has to be the Spiced Root Cake, it’s exactly what I want from a carrot cake, in that it doesn’t taste like carrot cake, if anything it has a similar taste to a cinnamon bun, but in cake form, and that cream cheese icing is fucking gold! The one recipe I really want to make though is the Orsimer Venison, however it’s not easy to get your hands on venison unless you know some hunters, otherwise you need to spend a lot of money just on a pound of venison, especially since you need a license just to be able to sell exotic meats. Once I have the ingredients, I will make that venison, and I will enjoy the gamey taste of wild meat once again! Side note, venison jerky is great, has a much cleaner taste and a more pleasant texture compared to beef jerky, it basically falls apart in your mouth because of how well muscled the meat is, without being tough or chewy which would normally come from lean meat.
I'd love to try some venison as well. I actually wanted to try a venison stew recipe recently but the prices are just astronomical. Hopefully one day I'll get to try it
@@MisoHungrie I’m not sure where you are and if you can find this but I was able to find some bison and that was a really good substitute for venison. I made the orsimer venison with it and it was hella good. I found it at a Whole Foods near me and it was like 20-30ish bucks.
It is very good. It is one of only a couple of these video game/movie/book cook book adaptations that are good “Rosenthal” and “Monroe-Cassel” are names you want to see on these adaptions.
So far the only recipes i've tried from this book are the twice bake potatoes and potato cheddar soup. Can confirm, they're really good, especially the twice bake. Made that a regular dish at home. If you ever do the potato soup, I recommend boiling your potatoes prior to getting started because it takes forever for them to cook properly in the chicken broth/milk mixture.
I had my eye on the potato soup also! Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind if I decide to make it. Nothing better than finding more efficient way to do things in the kitchen.
Oh man, you murdered that horker loaf, it was perfect the first time you cut it open. Just fyi, check it with a meat thermometer, 160F in the middle is perfect. Though to be fair, I imagine it would still be tasty fried to crisp. I've made that one several times, though sometimes I have to swap out the oysters with sardines because I can't get the oysters. It works the same, like you said, just adds to the umami flavor.
The sunlight souffle is from an in game cookbook called Uncommon Taste I believe. It has an ungodly amount of nutmeg which I can only assume was a typo.
I recommend the baked salmon, the meat and fruit kabobs. Also if anyone is trying to take a trip in to histical cooking pick this book up its hood for understanding how different taste and how things are used for dummies.
I'd like to see more recipes. The unofficial harry potter cook book might be cool to cover too I almost bought it at Walmart but got more manga instead.
This is a very polished and good video! I'm unsure why you only have 604 subscribers, for this level of quality this early on I would expect at least 100K! The only reason I could think of is that the UA-cam algorithm favors longer videos and upload consistency, maybe you could try splitting the cooking and the review portion into two separate videos and go more in depth with each, it would be very interesting to see. Good work though! Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words! That's actually a really interesting idea to split it up. I might try that eventually. Definitely hard to upload consistently with work but I try.
Man's never played oblivion. :( it is my favorite elder scrolls game. Me and my wife planned on buying this when we get extra funds and this will justify the purchase.

I recently made Meadow Rye Bread and it tastes good.
Nice! I gotta try that out
It is very good. It is one of only a couple of these video game/movie/book cook book adaptations that are good “Rosenthal” and “Monroe-Cassel” are names you want to see on these adaptions.
almost 6k? thats bullshit! underrated
Try the mead too, it’s very uneque
One of my favorites to have on a cold day is the spiced warm milk with honey
The sunlight souffle is from an in game cookbook called Uncommon Taste I believe. It has an ungodly amount of nutmeg which I can only assume was a typo.
I really enjoyed my cookbook. Wish it had more recipes though.
What....did someone take your sweet roll?!
Lol yep that's why I had to make another one!
I recommend the baked salmon, the meat and fruit kabobs. Also if anyone is trying to take a trip in to histical cooking pick this book up its hood for understanding how different taste and how things are used for dummies.
I'll check out those recipes! Thanks for the recommendation :)
I'd like to see more recipes. The unofficial harry potter cook book might be cool to cover too I almost bought it at Walmart but got more manga instead.
Jesus Christ they even made a skyrim port for book
Next: LG SMART FRIDGE!
I own this and have cooked probably 50%. This is actually what got me into mead making.
The Nord Spice is a game changer!
@@MisoHungrie Good luck! looking forward to it!
This book is exceptionally good! Drinks and soups are really nice, especially Potage la Magnifique
I still haven't tried that recipe but a lot of people commented how good it is. Will check it out eventually!
The sweetroll looks awesome :D
I came just to see if you made a sweetroll and I wasn’t disappointed
It just works.
Man's never played oblivion. :( it is my favorite elder scrolls game. Me and my wife planned on buying this when we get extra funds and this will justify the purchase.
DID SOMEONE SAY SWEETROLL
Would be solid 10/10 if you use wodden table and wodden bowl in whole process. 8/10
Its not criticism. I just think it could improve atmosphere to a bit more skyrim
100% agree. I was thinking of that as well but I didn't own any but I hope I'll be able to save up for things like that over time for future videos.
The best things I've tried from this cookbook is the seasonings, the potato soap, and the porridge.
You're right, the seasoning blends are really good
You forced me to get the Fallout and Skyrim cookbooks.
Enjoy! They're great cookbooks
Should've made some bosmer dishes those are pretty cool
the idea of stormcloak seasoning is hilarious like imagine if there was an ISIL seasoning
Thanks for the video.
I appreciate you using the stormcloak seasoning. We all know those imperial dogs have no taste!
Im all for trying something different but when the oysters were mixed with ground beef i had to let that one go 😄
Should have just kept it simple and used either walrus gooch-blubber or dolphin blowhole.

Well mudcrabs have like 2 health, I found a cave in oblivion with a monster mudcrab, I was around lvl 10 and I killed it in 3 dwarven sword slices with no fatigue
I’ve been using this cookbook for the longest time, that’s saying something.
2:07 "Water of life" well, that's one way to call that distilled alcohol, in French.
"let me guess someone stole your sweet roll?"
your channel is so good, you deserve more subs friend :)
Thank you so much!
I remember reading reviews of that book on Amazon. Half of them mentioned getting diahrhea from the recipies.
I would love to have this book
I made my mum some chicken dumplings from this cookbook on Mother’s Day 💯 they were good but dry af lol
That's a very cool Mother's Day meal. Aside from the dryness, awesome stuff 👍
I want to make everything on this cook book in game
