We used to have a restaurant in my town selling all that stuff. I imagine the waiters/waitresses probably got tired of people saying, 'give me the crocodile and make it snappy.'
I personally don't find the camel any less attractive than the other animals. To me they all have the same level of attractiveness. Besides, it's what is on the inside that makes one animal more attractive than another, imo.
I appreciate seeing you use the Opinel in your vids. I have my Dads No.7 that he bought in Paris on furlough when he was stationed in Germany in 1956. It's my favorite pocket knife. He passed in 1992 and I miss him dearly.
I have my Granddad's he got during WWII in France, picked it up off the floor in a bombed out general store and carried it all the days of his life, my Grandma gave it to me a few years after his passing and its been in my ruck for most of my life.
I love the idea of having Zebra meat as a “super lean meat” but the ones I found so far here in the U.S. costs around $200 per pound which is outrageous.
Haha! I love getting people to eat stuff I don't want to eat and having them tell me what it was like. Being a father of 5 gave me plenty of opportunities. They all are a lot more adventurous eaters than I am now. They have me to thank, lol. Maybe I'll challenge them all to eat some kangaroo. Thank you, great video.
Kezie Foods is located in the tiny village of Burnhouses (beautiful place in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Borders!) a highly recommended visit if you can muster it. Their Polish female butcher used to be my helper/house-keeper!
Have to say. Love watching your videos. Find them really relaxing/therapeutic, the idea of people getting back to basics and making it fun is great. Keep doing what you're doing 👍
COMPARISON VIDEOS: That was a great idea for another category of videos on your channel. Made me want to check in my town to see if anyone serves up meats like that...Thanks for that interesting cooking adventure 🦓🐫🦘🦙
When my husband was alive, he said I was the only woman he ever met that liked trying different "uncommon" meats, just for the adventure of it. Very squeamish about any bugs, insects, slimy textures, but willing to try nearly anything. I just like giving my taste buds variety and knowing what other people eat. You could redo the ones you don't like. I imagine camel would be good with the right recipe and slow cooked.
Andy, I enjoyed this episode. I have always wondered about those meats as we here in the States have a hard time finding this type of meat. Thank you for a good show.
Hello from North Idaho.👋 I really enjoyed this video. I did not think Kangaroo would come out on top.🤯 Thanks for sharing Andy. I am looking forward to the next one like this.(Though I think all of your videos are lovely.)😍
Have you ever been to that restaurant in Post Falls I don't remember the name of it but they serve all sorts of game like elk and grouse and whatever? I've always wanted to try it...
The only one of those meats that I have tried is kangaroo. And I agree it is absolutely delicious. A little gamey (which I like) but has a flavor that is very unique but yet not totally alien. It's the most exotic thing that i've had here in the states, followed by Emu (delicious), Moose (incredible), Elk (delicious), Frog (decent but not worth the cost, just buy chicken), Alligator (again delicious but just get chicken instead) etc. I'd love to try llama, Zebra, Camel, etc. Just need to see if any of that is available here in Texas or if I can have it shipped frozen. I'd love to see you do some more of these, but i'd love to see you drag Simon in on it as well when you guys have your next get together camp.
My dad is in the US militarily. He ate camel on a deployment once. He said that it was stewed. Very good. One of his favorites. I think it’s supposed to be cooked like goat.
Roo cooked properly is beaut. I have not had lama before but camel and zebra cooked well are delish. Great review Andy. Something different for you guys up North.
Funny, I just purchased some kangaroo, camel, bobcat, coyote, turtle and zebra meat. Glad to have ran across this video. From what I've seen, some of these should be more for a stew than anything. Keep posting.
Hi Andy, I really enjoyed that video. Always interesting to see some new and adventurous reviews on unusual subjects. In my opinion that's what makes your videos stand out. Keep them coming.
Well, generally, if it moves you can eat it. May not taste great, but you can eat it. Protein is protein. But with a touch of salt and pepper, and perhaps a knob of butter, most mammals and fish can be eaten and prepared deliciously! Great job Andy!
Love the video Andy, I tried turtle and that's the extent of tasting different meats, it's quite tasty, course my mom cooked it and she was a great cook. Yes, please make more videos of this type. 😊
So chilled and relaxing. If you do this again try guinea-pig. Its the national dish of Peru. Cuy I think its spelt. Bit greasy but interesting. In some rural mountain areas you chose a live one and they kill and cook it. No refrigeration so heats butchered as close to eating it as possible.
I haven't tried any of these but I have had bison (buffalo) which is delicious (very beef-like but leaner), and moose which is also good but much gamier. I'd also love to try emu and kangaroo and as luck would have it, there is a local farm that carries these 2 meats along with a host of others. Nice one Andy! More of these please!

Interesting video Andy. I would have thought that the llama and camel would have been similar being that they are in the same family. I’m thinking that the camel cooked in the tagine would be the way to make the it more enjoyable. Scotty from Scotty’s Gone Walkabouts also really likes kangaroo. I’ve never tried it but if you have access I’d be interested in how you feel about ostrich; from what I’ve seen it’s deeply red like the kangaroo. Happy trails.
You can get Kangaroo in the supermarkets here. Not a lot of people eat it though because if you don't cook it right its terrible. Hot and fast is the way to cook kangaroo as it is so lean and it get tough if you cook it too much.
Kangaroo is awesome!!! Got treated to a bbq feast when visiting friends in Australia! If you can eber try fresh gator its pretty amazing too. One experiment I would like to see you try is the Camel (or any of the other meats) in yout tangine/dutch oven or (Simon's?) Afghan pressure cooker thing. Any slow cooked method really.. Anyway great video!
Kangaroo was a big seller in my old restaurant.Talking of exotic meats, have you ever tried crocodile. The restaurant I used to be the head chef, I used to despise cooking that stuff. Everybody always used to complain that it was tough and stringy. I personally think it's a meat that should be marinated and slow braised.
Interesting, I think the only exotic meat i have eaten is frog in Thailand, I couldn't bring myself to eat the insect varieties that i've seen in Asia. Would love to see you try more variants such as turtle, crocodile, pigeon breast, bear and snake. I guess some are hard to source in the UK though. Keep up the great content mate, I enjoy!
Kangaroo meat is amazing, Carmel is nice if cooked right. I have not tried Lima or Zebra. Wild boar is a very good meat to eat, and if you have eaten a lot of steaks in mainland Europe or Tesco burgers I bet you have been served horse on more than one occasion
Zebra is seldom spotted, kangaroo puts spring in your step, camel gives you the hump and llama spits a lot. Depends on the cooking method I suppose. But seriously all very tasty options, alligator and ostrich are also very nice.
Kangaroo is really tasty, and you didn't make the mistake of over cooking it. There's very little fat, so it can be overdone real fast. Emu and Water Buffalo are also very tasty - just to keep the Aussie side up. Lol.
Thanks Andy. Good idea of a video. My suggestion would be a long slow cook in the Dutch oven for the camel. You seemed really happy with a bit of ‘Skippy’. Think I’ll give that a go too. Please do another comparison for us. All the best. Paul.
Always love your videos Andy, but I think I’ll stick to lamb, chicken and a nice bit of rib-eye! I’ve always been curious about ‘exotic’ meats, so thanks for taking one for the team so we don’t have to!
enjoyed watching your taste test. i have had horse, bison and ostrich but i have never seen any really exotic meats in the shops. please do more tasting!
Camel meat is supposed to be an absolute treat. Llama, I’d wager, would taste almost the same. Me being hungry may influence my decision. Zebra, if it’s anything like horse, is supposed to be similar to venison. Kangaroo is supposed to be a bit like a gamey beef.
Cracking video Andy, Llama is better than steak, Bison is the best I have had, got it from the bison farm where the bushcraft gathering was held, enjoy!
We used to have a restaurant in my town selling all that stuff. I imagine the waiters/waitresses probably got tired of people saying, 'give me the crocodile and make it snappy.'
haha, did they get the hump with people ordering the camel :p
Kangaroo and hop to it.
I wouldn’t be able to resist.
“You want it snappy? That’ll be the freshest reptile that ever ate y... you ever ate.”
Ha haa!🤣🤣
We had one in Hemel never tried it though.
Nice one, Andy. You were concerned about the camel, but finally got over the hump. 😉😋🙂🐫
haha :p

@@UrbCrafter yeah, the sentimental is worth way more than the knife.
Puts an entirely different perspective on going to the Zoo now I’d say.
In deed it does lol
LOL...reminded me of a scene from the movie Madagascar....hahaha!
I will never look at this animal the same way because I will only see meat
after watching this video, i kinda wanna say that... the zoo is a free-to-hunt zone
"Hmm, what to eat for dinner, zebra or alligator?" Lmao.
For some reason, that folding grill puts me in mind of the replicators from Stargate 1...
i am a nerd and i know exactly what you mean haha
It does
See I thought that as well, but I thought I'm not going to say anything because I just be a complete nerd !
I love the idea of having Zebra meat as a “super lean meat” but the ones I found so far here in the U.S. costs around $200 per pound which is outrageous.
It’s a reasonable price if you want good quality meat from the other side of the globe
Imagine the Mrs finding your browser history and expecting to see something seedy but it’s just ‘Best way to cook a Zebra’
Haha! I love getting people to eat stuff I don't want to eat and having them tell me what it was like. Being a father of 5 gave me plenty of opportunities. I'm suprised with the zebra ! But as im a Aussie, roo is not a surprise, the whole world are missing out on something amazing 🦘🍔🍖🌭🥩🤟
Yeah Kangaroo is amazing and very hard to come by in the US. It’s around, if you know where to look, but very expensive
Kezie Foods is located in the tiny village of Burnhouses (beautiful place in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Borders!) a highly recommended visit if you can muster it. Their Polish female butcher used to be my helper/house-keeper!
Looking forward for this 👌👍

I would happily watch this again

Andy, I enjoyed this episode. I have always wondered about those meats as we here in the States have a hard time finding this type of meat. Thank you for a good show.
Lovely way to spend what seems to be one of the finest days this year so far. Cant wait to get back out myself.
Yum. I've had most of the meats. Kangaroo my personal favorite.
I don't eat exotic meat but I am watching for you, Andy.

Kinda hard to get, so I only ate it once.
I really appreciate and enjoyed this comparison video! I give you big credit for trying these exotic meats! Would love to see more!
Hey Andy. Hello from India. Please upload more videos mate. You make us wait loooong time for such awesome content.....❤️
Tip: Keep away from chimpanzee, bat, and pangolin.
they werent at the top of my list lol

Fantastic. I’m from Australia and although I’ve not had a chance to try the other 3 meats I must agree that kangaroo is delicious.

Funniest comment so far!

Wild boar and crocodile are worth a go mate 🤙🏼
both on the list :)
Croc is awesome
Exotic meats gone mad, cheers for the video.🥩🥩🥩
Glad to see Skippy came out on top 😃 Its easy to overcook and dry out Roo, nice cook.
The secret to cooking ‘roo is keep it moving, turn every 10-15 seconds......
You can make good biltong with ‘roo too....
Not saying there is competition between you buddies, but i’d like to see Simons’s comeback on this one! Giraffe, Killer Whale and David Attenborough?
I figured Attenborough's followers would be here making a mess of the comment section, was really surprised not to find any nutters here whining...
So chilled and relaxing.

LOL! Every time I see zebra meat, it makes me think of Marty from Madagascar.
Used to be a chef in the 90s and cooked zebra, alligator, kangaroo, ostrich and bison. All very healthy meat. 👌👍

Fascinating. Yes please, show uf the other meats. I like that you did them simply so you could taste the meat properly.
Andy, Kent circus is missing a Lama, A Kangaroo, a camel and a Zebra, you wouldn't know anything about it would you ??. Lol.
Thanks for this video. You always talk about your cooking. I enjoy all your videos.
yes please. bring on the next video of exotic meet
Yes Absolutely enjoyed that. Loved it. Love your channel.....your the best man I look forward to your videos....
Another tasting would be nice. I’d like to try all that you featured. I’m a adventurous foodie myself. Interesting line up.

Great video Andy, when I was in Nairobi there was a safari BBQ restaurant, it was FAB!
For some reason I get really hungry watching some of your videos. Weird??😁 Great video, as usual. Thanks.
I'm Australian and bought kangaroo meat a 2 weeks ago for the first time, Its tough, but delicious!
Fabulous video, you are always one step ahead
I'm so jelly I've always wanted to try kangaroo this video makes me wanna try it so much more
Horse and Bison are my two favorites
Grilled over the fire probably the best way to go. Kangaroo looked very nice.
As an Aussie - Kangaroo (and Wallaby) aren't too unusual for us... the others we have would be Emu meat, and possibly Yolla (Mutton bird)
Wallaby meats are delicious 💯
been watching andys vids for a bit naw he seams like such a nice guy the BFG keep up the good work

haha, i missed so many joke opportunities in this vid

Enjoyed this one Andy.. very interesting, brevity not withstanding! Would certainly be interested in seeing more of the same please.
Thanks Eric
My prediction for him trying the roo: Wow.
Did not disappoint. One of my favourite meats
Nice video 👍
I’ve not had all of those meats but kangaroo is my favourite exotic meat
All the best graham
Was great Andy. Yes, please do some more...would love to see it.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❣
would love to see a smoked kangaroo dish. Or what about pulled zebra sandwiches??????
THANK YOU FOR YOUR OPINION KENT!
