@@xFrxstyYou mean a great esports HDR true black OLED monitors even at 1080p? It would be nice even make it for 16 inch esports gaming laptops by cutting 32 inch 4K and 480Hz WOLED panels into four, optimize refresh rate, then done. Ideally it would still have true black HDR certification and HDR10+/Dolby Vision and real HDMI 2.1 FRL ports for console esports gamers, and so it needs OLED at 16:10 WUXGA and 600Hz native refresh rate, and multiple tandem layer OLEDs to minimize burn in for longer longevity :)
Badseed said it right in the vid: 1440p 24" 480hz OLED ...by Benq, is the dream. The last part is there because they have the most functional OSD, the best looking Black Equalizer and built-in Sharpness filter. Thanks for the review. BTW you can get 12 bpc on the Asus, setting it from the Nvidia panel (and the monitor recognizes it too on its on control panel afterwards). Color vibrance is also on the Asus, just split colour by colour (going to Color Temp, user mode etc.). ULMB2 is not visually darker than Dyac if you play with contrast, HDR (and ULMB pulse width and offset of course). Response time: OLEDs do compensate that a lot with the processing time which is just not there on TNs and summed up to response time end up being quiet close to TN panels. 1080p is even too much for competitive, vast majority of CS pros still play on 4:3 and with a lower resolution also. For competitive games, these monitors will most likely still be on top of the rest I believe. Zowie makes it easier to set up everything within a few minutes, Asus allows for a much deeper resolution when it comes to settings but allows for the same stuff in the end (at times, calling it different).
Awesome and all with strobing too, pricey. But yeah, OLEDs in this Hz class are coming soon. What I'd like to see is that they also start including max Hz BFI too. Extra with BFI sync.
When 360hz 1440p came out. I gave up, never going back to 1080p. I also realized a loss of 10 fps, but the ability to see people is worth more. Also, the fact you can turn graphics on low get the fps back, and it still looks way better. I don't see the point 1080p. Zowie needs a 1440p dyac monitor. They are doing the mouse thing again. Everyone is switching? Well, we will be 3 years late. 😂 it's time for pro events to switch a mid rang card and can run most competitive fps games at 1440p high fps. Csgo isn't hard to run guys get with it
I think Zowie could cut through with a 1440p if they could get a panel that was like 25 inches versus the standard 27. I just like smaller monitors a little more for any game.
the thing is, if you want to be competitive 24/24.5 inches monitors are the bests compared to 27in and 1080p is better than 1440p for competitive even tho you see enemies better on a 1440p
I'm hoping for OLED with good BFI implementation. This should give us the best experience: best response times, best colors, best black levels and reduced persistence. But i think, that LCD will have a niche for some time, as LCD offers the highest refresh rates and backlight strobing combined, which gives the best motion clarity.
These monitors are meant really for the pro scene that going to lans and whatnot. Everything zowie does is for that mind. Even the box has the best unboxing experience of any monitor company by a longshot that can be easily reused to pack you monitor up for carrying if your going to travel. Also you're right on the 24in form factor, it's superior to anything else for anything remotely competitive. I have a PG27AQN and I still find myself going to my XL2546K even with the fact that the asus has a 25in mode. The features on the zowie are better and dyac gets brighter than ulmb2. I'm sure ulmb2 is good but if it's too dark to use then it doesn't matter.
i play halo infinite competitively and am torn between this and the PG248QP - sounds like you know a lot about these monitors would love to hear your thoughts on which would be best for my application
@@supernice_auto The Zowie, no contest. Unless you want higher resolution, the Zowie is better for competition and simple ease of use. The only thing on that Asus monitor that's worth anything is ULMB 2 (you will almost never use GSYNC) but dyac 2 is really good and you will notice no differences. I barely notice any difference between dyac+ and ULMB 2 as it is. At least that Asus model works better than somthing like the PG27AQN and gets bright enough to even use the feature. However when it comes to form, function, ease of use Zowie destroys everything else I have ever used. Simply unbox it, simple stand to put on, doesn't take up any space on the desk and has the puck to save and easily change settings instead of having to reach behind the monitor all the time. Makes it easy to change the monitor settings to something for gaming like having the black equalizer on, dyac 2, etc. and then turn it off back to a stardard setting for regular desktop use. All the settings are better as well, especially the black equalizer which I actively used and found that no other monitor has been able to match it and even has a sharpness setting. I know, for some reason these other monitors don't even have something as simple as that. But I use it and it helps make the TN panel look fairly clear even in games with tons of foliage and such like Tarkov or Battlefield. Essentially if you are looking at a monitor and it's a TN panel and more competative, then look no further than Zowie, full stop. Other brands are only worth looking at if you want higher resolution IPS or OLED options.
I use OLED and at nothing less than 240 Hz (and as high as possible to 240 fps as I can) but I was obsessed with telling people about strobing monitors when I was using them from around 2013 to 2023 and the CRAZY part is that, in strobing mode, you don't even need 540 Hz or even 240 Hz to get CRT levels of motion clarity. Even at just 120 Hz / 120 fps, the motion clarity of strobing mode (or BFI for OLED) is INSANE! After 120-ish fps / Hz, there are huge diminishing returns for strobing clarity as 120 already gets you to like 90% near-CRT-perfection. Strobing mode monitors need to start being available for large 1440p and 4K 16:9, 21:9, and 32:9 monitors. Even if there's more pixels to push than 1080p, strobing at just 240 Hz / fps, and even just 120, is already like 95-99 % as clear as strobing at 540 Hz / fps but with the benefit of a way bigger, potentially wider (21:9, 32:9), higher resolution, display. What's with the obsession with 24" and 25" 1080p monitors? It's not 2013 anymore.
@@lukaslillestl-brandlistuen7269 Ya but 99.999% of users don't play to break world records and/or to win "professional videogamer" tournaments, they play for fun.
How impossible would a 540hz 1080p OLED be at like 24-27 inches? 1440P is great but not needed for some competitive games because the extra frames and better input delay from fps are worth more than clarity for some. I have a 4k 144hz and a xl2566k but I would love 1080p to get maxed out performance and clarity without the FPS loss.
@@backupjester3520With backlight strobing the lcd would still be clearer, but you would have be extremely good at cs to ever justify this over a 480hz oled.
@@Your_Paramour i just wonder if the colors that offer the oled pannel would get you headache if you play competitive fps for 7-8h x day or it does not...plus if you keep your monitor turned on for 15-16h x day would it ruin the panel pretty fast??
I will say this, I was hyped for the zowie monitor but on Amazon the asus was $840 and I decided to go with that one instead, having the ability to use the g sync module or keep it at 540 with ulmb2 was the dealbreaker for me, I also think having the reflex sensor is great if your looking at using latency mod to test your computer and monitor for the lowest possible latency. I have always had 1080p but going from 240-540 was a massive difference, I don’t think 1440p 540 will be justifiable considering that will be a $2,000 monitor :(
As i keep my monitors for as long as i want ill never buy an oled because of the simple risk of burn in. It is just stressfull for me to always have the risk of burn in even variating in length when it pops up. Gonna stay with my trusty lcds until micro led is applicable in larger screens and not too expensive
4:25 You're wrong on this. The perceived motion blur (which is also the motion blur visible in the images you show) is caused by objects on the screen not moving smoothly but rather teleporting each frame. With our eyes we track that object as if it was moving smoothly and not teleporting. That results in motion blur and the larger the gaps inbetween the teleports, the greater the motion blur becomes. If you get 250 fps the motion blur will be the same no matter if you set your monitor to 500hz or 250hz. The monitor doesn't magically interpolate frames, it just shows the same frame twice so the gap of objects moving between each frame stays the same.
I’ll give it to you. Listening back, I can see how people would take that away. But no, Im not under the impression that a monitor interpolates frames. I get how sample and hold works. Its obvious that when your game CAN output at the same rate as the monitor, motion blur will decrease as frame rates and monitor speeds increase. When your game CAN’T l, but can get close, its still gonna look better in practice. Like MWIII only hits 300-400fps for me on this monitor but it still looks (and feels) a lot better than running it locked at 240 fps at 240hz. I would not recommend anyone look at panel like this if they’re only getting 240 out of their game. Thats a bridge too far.
@@badseedtech I think that the 540 Hz only makes sense in combination with G Sync. Therefore, the Asus monitor is unfortunately the winner for me. Most games don't run at a constant FPS, regardless of the hardware
Another thing to note, is that without things like gsync. The response time of your monitor and the frames being outputted by your gpu can be on different timings. So you could theoretically, be timed in a way in which you are technically behind 1 frame, as the gpu is slightly slower so it uses the previous frame. Gsync tries to mitigate it and so does amd freesync. Also to maintain a perfect fps is nearly impossible, as it means anything that can lower fps will. In a game like cs your frame rate is not always perfect, In some cases you can drop 5-10 if it’s limited to well within the gpu and cpu ability.
i understand that zowie is sticking to what they do best, but as the video says, upcoming oleds at 480hz will blow this thing out of the park. it's really hard to beat the clarity of practically no response time. i'm not even going to go into colors lmao, it's a TN panel..
if you play any other game you are right, but for competitive fps, 24/24.5 inches monitors at 1080p to get the highest fps possible and 540hz is still the best option, maybe in 6-7 years oled will be better, they still need to make 24 inches monitor with oled panels
@Doctor0Who OLED hater arguments: “enjoy the burn in”. Me an OLED enthusiast with 1 pixel clean and panel refresh and basic maintenance. “What burn in”
The fact that you brought up the upcoming 480Hz OLED options as a reason ro not purchase this monitor holds no real relevancy. The upcoming 480Hz OLED monitors will be 1440p at 27 inches so this monitor is still an very viable option for competitive gamers because OLED's still don't address the 1080p market and i dont think they ever will or at least not in the near future because they want to sell those higher resolution OLED's to make higher margins.
I dislike how he shits on the monitor before it even releases. I agree with your statement and imo he should have kept the comparison of TN panel to TN panel. Each Monitor type is in a class of its own. Each having their own advantages and disadvantages. Promoting and OLED when the purpose is supposed to be about this product is annoying... too much opinion. Provide the facts and let us decide .
Personally I own the Asus ROG PG248QP TN 540hz Monitor and i love it. I purposely avoid OLED's because of how dim & barely bright they get and if they do its in a 10% window. Not being able to confidently web browse without the thought of burn-in risk , leaving a static image coming back only to have it burn-in . I watch youtube videos , read alot comments , school work etc & imo OLED is not an well rounded monitor. Even though burn-in is covered , but what happens when the warranty is gone after 3 years. If you randomly get burn-in your product is literally e-waste ... no one will willing buy a burn-in oled so it will be hard to sell.. again... Thats thousounds down the drain , you'll have to just deal with it. It will be something every time you use the monitor you have to be worried about.
I like good stands on monitors but personally I still ditch them for a sub $50 monitor arm that just does it all. No wasted space and I can place the monitor exactly how I want it.
We need 1440p Oled 540hz that would honestly give you the biggest competitive advantage or at least 1080p oled 540hz how long y’all think till that type of monitor comes?

coming from OLED, TN does look really bad but most ppl haven't experienced that and once i swapped back to IPS and went to TN, it's not nearly as bad as the initial jump from OLED to TN.
I'm confused about the additional input lag from DYAC2. I'm fairly certain that since it doesn't add any post-processing it's not supposed to add any input lag?? Did Zowie lie ab that or what

@@LouisVBelt competitive players don't use 1440p because actually good 1440p gaming monitors for eSports don't exist yet. Actually good = 23.8", 24.1" & 24.5"
People that are really competitive but don’t have 4090s play lower ingame res for higher fps, but I don’t know why anyone capable of 1920x1080 at 540fps would want the 0.0x millisecond latency increase over a marked clarity increase. 1440 480hz oleds are coming and with a high end gpu, hopefully even into the mid range area with next gen, it’s feasible to drive that while being way better than 1080.
Recently turned DYAC+ off on my 144hz Zowie and started playing better because of less input delay. Anyone else have the same experience? There’s certainly more motion blur, but noticeably less input delay. The motion blur is a non issue, if anything a little annoying when I turn quickly.

Heyo, wanted to ask, are there still FHD monitors being made at 24"? I mean to modern specs, OLED, at least over 144hz,... Seems like the industry is moving towards bigger monitors with more resolution, but I really couldn't care less for that. I don't wanna wear glasses at my computer just to be able to tell the difference between a 200 bucks monitor and a 1000 bucks one. The bigger the monitor, the further I'd have to put it, making it even worse. I still want to enjoy the contrast and fluidity of a high refresh-rate OLED tho, but I can't seem to find anything.
@@daviddave8761 what i'm trying to say is, from the looks of it, badseed only used the monitor via a displayport 1.4 cable, instead of also comparing that to using an hdmi 2.1 cable, where it might be possible to run the monitor without dsc(!); that's what i am curious about, would be good to have a confirmation on whether that's possible or not, as it is not clearly stated in the video nor anywhere else yet
no point of making this video. casual gamers are not the targeted audience. zowie are always known as the household name and market leader of esports centric monitors. if you want to only play games and be as competitive as possible then this monitor is for you. also about tilting the monitor towards your face, most professional players sit really really close towards their monitor, its doesn't affect. also it is kinda braindead to look at this monitor thinking it will appeal the casuals. brother this monitor is specifically made for the most competitive fps players in mind
Man I don’t care if the little UFO man looks the exact same stopped as traveling at 7523 lightyears a second, I’m still not buying a $900 TN 1080p panel. 240-360hz is good enough on OLED and the other benefits you get put the nail in the coffin. A 25” OLED would be nice though for true competitive gaming.
We need a 540 hz monitors comparaison. We know that the ZOWIE is beaten by the ASUS, but the 540hz monitor from AOC and ACER haven’t been reviewed yet. And the ACER is half the price of the ZOWIE
I will insist on QHD even on a 24-24.5" because 1080p is becoming less efficient with OLED and c'mon gaming LCDs, at least for competitive fps or anybody who aims at that, are not going any further from 1/1/25. So OLED and QHD have to show up together. I would not chose a 27" or plus display because when you aim to become a pro or anyway to play at highest ranks/levels in CS, Val and OW 27" starts to become too big, at least for me. And active pros ain't switching to 27" guys trust me they aren't. About 500hz? Not marketing! At least, not at all! Of course brands build marketing over these monitors but they have to, it's their job and for their earnings! 😂 But technically with OLEDs, 500hz gaming experience can be feelable and an advantage over 360hz. EDIT: unpopular opinion → viewing angles are totally useless! As long as newer monitors are more and more adjustable in 5 axes (and desks too) you should be able to play straight which is something that someone that buys these monitors should have to do! Since you spend around 1k to play at super-high-refresh what the heck do you need wider viewing angles for?! 😂 If these monitors have them better and better than that's ok but even if they don't who gives a f?
@Doctor0Who I’ve always chosen Zowie monitors because I trust their commitment to quality. They never rush their products to market. When 360Hz monitors were released, many people switched back to 240Hz because the technology felt rushed and didn’t offer a substantial improvement. Zowie took their time to perfect their version. Now, a year after 540Hz displays have been around, Zowie is releasing their own 540Hz monitor. I believe Zowie crafts their monitors specifically for FPS games, focusing on perfection
This monitor is for 0.1% of people who play competitive games, just like the 66k the target audience isn’t your average gamer and it was never meant to be. If you’re not a really high ranked player you’re wasting your money and time but if you are then why not. This model in particular is overpriced tho.
Idk I just dont see giving up 1080p for colors ? Resolution on pc is like the nintendo switch of gaming, get a 1080p and put just a little away thats it, its simple math
If it was 1440p it would have been great. and TN is still the best. In my opinion anyway. I tried IPS and OLED screens but after 20-30 mins my eyes started hurting. So i bought a HP omen X 27 monitor 1440p 240Hz and it is so damn good
The zowie monitors have pretty bad clouding / haze on top of looking washed out and yellow too. They have low quality control these days. On top of that, a lot of their TN panels are outputting different color and brightness slightly, so sometimes their monitors aren't even made equal.
All those years of developing ULMB and DYAC and is now obsolete to OLED. Zowie's monitor market share will drop if they keep producing TN panel monitors and not switching over to oled and thinking of another black magic that will make it even faster (which is literally impossible because of oled's near 0 instantaneous responce times) OR try catering to gamers by adding those classic Zowie flaps and introducing quality of life improvements on them new oled monitors. Welcome to the future, after the release of the 480hz 1440p oled monitor Q4 2024, the only winner in the monitor space will be the company that can have the highest nits of brightness, but as far as I know it's a standstill so competetition will be crazy. Welcome to the golden era of monitors where the only way monitor manufactering companies will keep market share by dropping prices. Which is already evident in the 360hz oled 1440p monitors that you can buy for as little as $900 (with the release of the 480hz the drop in pricing will make 240hz oled monitors even more affordable at prices ranging from $450-$550.
Most people can't even tell the difference between 360hz and 540hz, and even 240hz to 540hz, it's not obvious. Once you hit 360hz anything higher has no benifit.
Us apex players can't even consider high hz monitors like this cause the game is hard capped at 300fps :/ Not saying i would get this monitor in particular, but super high hz is something i wanna look into, i just can't right now

I got an XL2566K I play FPS mainly I am not very impressed with the colour of the monitor it looks really washed and inconsistent on shading. For response time great, for visuals it’s not the best. Sometimes different players in COD can be hard to see with its shadows. For CS it’s alright and good enough to play on, for valorant it’s where I rather have an 1440p 240hz or an OLED
Unless you only play games that can reach 500+fps consistently with the hardware you have and you play at the highest level where going up to that refresh rate would remotely help you perform better. If this isn't you, then no.

Nah w cs2 the fps isn’t great even w the best cpu and gpu you can barely get 500 stable
the thing is, if you want to be competitive 24/24.5 inches monitors are the bests compared to 27in and 1080p is better than 1440p for competitive even tho you see enemies better on a 1440p
Bro cs2 is horribly optimized rn. You won't get 360fps consistently with 1440p. csgo would be a totally different thing but it doesn't exist anymore.
Yo Bad Seed! What’s up dude! Great review as always. I’m testing this monitor right now and am loving it. Experiencing similar things.

They won't, they cater specifically to the pro scene. 25in monitors are superior in any competitive game and 1080 works fine for them.

Lame? You think they make 24" for no reason? 😂

How impossible would a 540hz 1080p OLED be at like 24-27 inches? 1440P is great but not needed for some competitive games because the extra frames and better input delay from fps are worth more than clarity for some. I have a 4k 144hz and a xl2566k but I would love 1080p to get maxed out performance and clarity without the FPS loss.
they taking it too far with these esports monitors, an oled panel for gaming would probably beat any tn panel if it can match 500 hz
A 27" 1440p monitor will be a bit over 1080p if you limit it to a 24" window so probably not much reason for a 1080p 24" oled to exist.

I have always had 1080p but going from 240-540 was a massive difference, I don’t think 1440p 540 will be justifiable considering that will be a $2,000 monitor :(
There is something Zowie has up their sleeve that none of the OLED’s will…. FLAPS BABY!

As i keep my monitors for as long as i want ill never buy an oled because of the simple risk of burn in.
It is just stressfull for me to always have the risk of burn in even variating in length when it pops up.
Gonna stay with my trusty lcds until micro led is applicable in larger screens and not too expensive
Nice vid mate
Thanks for posting this video.
The monitor doesn't magically interpolate frames, it just shows the same frame twice so the gap of objects moving between each frame stays the same.
thankyou , i am glad people are calling him out on bs
thats the refresh rate of the monitor not the frame rate of the ufo video
Irrelevant because OLEDs are still sample and hold, and without dyac they can't blow tn dyac out of the water.
if you play any other game you are right, but for competitive fps, 24/24.5 inches monitors at 1080p to get the highest fps possible and 540hz is still the best option, maybe in 6-7 years oled will be better, they still need to make 24 inches monitor with oled panels
I made my decision about 1-2 years ago already. Not buying a monitor until i can get 27in 1440p OLED 480hz+
That’s the ASUS PG27AQDP coming in 3+ or so months.

There’s literally a 1080p 480hz oled out right now. This monitor is completely shit value.
@@Itz_littlebear There is no 1080p 480Hz OLED's on the market right now. You do not know what your talking about.

We should wait 1-2 years until a QHD 24.5" OLED 500hz comes out.
But technically with OLEDs, 500hz gaming experience can be feelable and an advantage over 360hz.
If these monitors have them better and better than that's ok but even if they don't who gives a f?
Zowie it is. Kinda building a zowie wall with all these monitors haha

Sometimes different players in COD can be hard to see with its shadows. For CS it’s alright and good enough to play on, for valorant it’s where I rather have an 1440p 240hz or an OLED
Does dude fashion himself as Darkseid? Looks like him.
i own the 2566k, is it worth to upgrade to the new zowie?
Unless you only play games that can reach 500+fps consistently with the hardware you have and you play at the highest level where going up to that refresh rate would remotely help you perform better. If this isn't you, then no.
I have the Zowie 360HZ I am tempted by this monitor in the future I will have it worse before I need my PC to achieve 500fps it is too much XD
i go by the mantra of cmi
cant make it i or most player is not good enough to translate the advantage to pure performance so its a just an expensive normal monitor
