Personally I think grasping for higher refresh rates on rhythm games is a bit of a red herring. Just in terms of peripherals, I think low latency controls make a bigger difference and no one seems to be talking about the role low latency audio has in keysounded games. The Presonus Quantum series of Thunderbolt interfaces boasts sub-millisecond latency. I love to know if it makes any difference in EZ2ON, which already has industry leading audio latency, but I'm not about to throw down $700 to find out.

they have 360hz 1440p 27 qd oled panels coming from samsung next year. the native pixel response time of oled will likely mean a 360hz oled will be similar or faster responding compared to a 500hz tn with the added bonus of much better picture quality and contrast.

Hi Bri, 🥰👋. I’ve been using the original Carpio wrist wrest for over 2yrs now and for me, they are worth the money and are great for long gaming / productivity sessions😇💪👍!
Thanks for the review. Just a point. RAM is proven to be very important for 1080p when GPU is under-utilised. Your CPU is also under utilised and that’s because of the RAM. Running ddr4 here doesn’t make this monitor review justice as I’m sure if you were running high speed DDR5 (~7000Mhz) kits you would see much higher results across the board, upwards of around 10-20% in some cases or even more I’m sure. Don’t neglect the importance of RAM these days. I run CS2 on 1440p with a 4090, 13900k and DDR5@6000Mhz and run consistently above 500 fps, often in the 6-700s. I just ordered this monitor to try out some gameplay in CS2, overwatch, warzone etc.
I got hyped when you said it is a TN panel. i dont like IPS or VA or OLED at all. I play games wich dont take much to run. So this monitor would be great for smooth gameplay at 540Hz. I think it is funny how people allways forget that there is other games than the mainstream games cuz there is thousands of games that will run way above 540hz . But the price is to high. Might wait a year or two and hope the price drops
Lol why did you get hyped at the worst looking display type by far when up until now the only other notable offering (the zowie) still had moderately SLOWER response times than the 1440p IPS 360hz from asus?
@@Frozoken I had to check my house for cameras in case i was being pranked. Because in the first part of my comment i said why i got hyped over TN. IPS VA and OLED i just dont like them at all. I can confirm I use the Carpio G 2.0 (G standing for gamer I'm pretty sure) and it has a rubber strap instead of just being a free wrist support like the 2.0. I personally love the G 2.0 as it helps me when editing or when I'm playing an extremely high APM game (RoR2 with huntress or mercenary). With valorant it's a bit tough but my wrist issues have gone down tremendously since buying the G 2.0 so I don't need it for everything anymore. HIGHLY recommend. I have also bought third party 3D printed wrist supports on amazon and they do not work the same at all. They feel either too stiff or don't support my hand as well. Highly recommend just buying the Carpio :)
if you are having wrist issues I urge you to do hand stretching exercises at least 2-3 times every session(2-3hours) and also if you add pull ups and dead hangs the problem will be gone forever.
Just to note, rainbow six is my main game and the benchmark compared to in game is drastically different. I get 600 in benchmark and in game I sit around 340 - 450 (depending on what operators are being played).
try out osu where i got 1000 fps with a vega 64. there a 540hz monitor will be noticed the most, its also the only game in which i notice a change from 240hz to 360hz
It's monitors like this and all the new GPU's that have me scratching my head everytime I go into PC Graphic settings on a video game to find V-Sync Ticked ON. lol one of the first things I uncheck these days...and then motion blur right after. Stellar vid as always!
You should see if you can get your hands on the two new oled Alienware monitors coming out next month for review. One is 4k 32" 240Hz, and the other is QHD 27" 360Hz.
He should but I really doubt they're coming next month. It'll be for preorder only Id bet. I wonder who will launch first between them and Samsung who have at least confirmed their versions are in production.
The Carpio's are nice, but I'd also recommend getting a Logitech MX Vertical. Being in IT - on a computer for 8+ hours a day - it's been a WRISTsaver. Think of it like when you put your arms down on the table. You're not putting your hands down, you're putting the side of your wrist down, which is where the logitech slots nicely. No twisting necessary in the forearm to hold your mouse is nice to have.
I knew going into this video I couldn't afford any of this, I just watched for your b roll shots, they never disappoint, and this video didn't ether. That 4090 and pc build 👌 🤯🤯🤯
I have this monitor. My system is: CPU: 5800x3d RAM 32GB 3200Mhz 14 timings GPU RTX 3090 Honestly I mainly play Apex at 240fps, and I'd say if you can afford this monitor it's worth it, I know everyone will have their own opinion, but in terms of motion clarity it's just amazing. I came from a 240hz monitor and only bought this one due to the 240hz dying. My goal was "Ride this monitor out another 3 - 5 years and then upgrade to OLED once the tech has gotten there, and once 4k may be able to hit current 1080p frame rates" I just really can't say enough good things about it. It was everything I was wanting it to be.
nice finally a new monitor video! could you review the Innocn 27G1S? its a 27ich 1440p 240hz monitor for 300$ and every review i found says it can easily be on par or surpass ips/tn panels in clarity and motion handling without the typical black level smearing. but i think the most reviews are probably bought... would be amazing to have a trusted reviewer check it out!
I bought innocn 27g1s recently and I had some doubts as well with other reviews at first but I bought it anyway and I can confirm it has really good motion handling and clarity out of 8 gaming monitors I've used till now which includes tn and ips monitor. Colors and contrast are really good as well. Panel is bright enough. The only downside is viewing angle looks bit washed out but not too bad. Black smearing is non existent as well. I'm getting more headshot and kills in cod mw3 with this monitor compared to my old gaming monitors.
Some people also reported to have flickering and artifacts with innocn 27g1s while turning on adaptive sync but it isn't the issue at least in my unit.
Waiting for Zowie 540hz… Their dyac technology should support both AMD and NVIDIA, so I’m looking forward to that. Might return my Asus 540hz for that.
A note about Siege, It's one of my primary games and on both my systems, I can maintain above 540 fps pretty much all the time so I jumped on this monitor as soon as I could find it available. Fast forward to actually getting it and testing it, Siege doesnt even support 540hz... Or 500. Or anything in the 400s or even 390. The game stops support at 360hz and a brief trip around R6FIX and reddit indicates that the developers of the game dont plan on supporting anything above 360hz. The quote on this was from about a year ago but from what I can tell, nothing's changed. When youre in-game, you can SET the refresh rate to 540hz but it will always revert back to 360hz as soon as you leave the display tab. You can double check/confirm this via the monitor's built in display that shows what refresh rate it's actually running. Super disappointing, because yeah, This is one of the very few games out there that I can consistently run 500+ all the time (14900K/4090/7600 DDR5/Intel APO system and 7800X3D/7900XTX) on this game specifically. I also own the PG27AQN and find myself running that instead!
One slight caveat to this is you can get around the "non-support" of 540hz or anything above 360hz by playing in borderless windowed mode. It will run at 540hz there but is incompatible in fullscreen exclusive for some awful, unknown reason. @@badseedtech
yeah i can confirm this is true. i own the pg248qp and when u switch to 500hz in game settings, it reverts to 360hz. Its really disappointing. This is the only game i play. @badseedtech
Even at lower fps like 60fps and 120fps gaming such as consoles, its response time is an unbelievably 2.5ms. 16.7ms / 8.3ms VS 2.5ms. So fighting games, GTA 5, PS5/Xbox players will hugely benefit from that eTN panel unbelievable speed. Visual beauty? ❌️ Winning in multiplayer?✅️
Turn frame gen on in mwIII. I get 540 fps in cod with a 5800x3d and a 4090. It bumps my total system input lag from 6-7ms up to 11-13ms but the motion clarity is worth it and the input lag isn’t really noticeable. 540hz is something to behold for movment men.
i got my responce time under 1-2ms of my current hz. probably gonna pick the 540 up just cause im aware my current bottleneck is my monitor. gg and ty for the review
How silly it is hearing about unoptimized PCs not being able to hit 540fps consistently. This video is a prime example on why tuning your RAM subtimings, voltages and Windows is so important. On my 7800x3d, I can hit 540fps consistently in OW2 at 1440p (competitive settings) and hold it at 540 no matter what. In Valorant, I can hold the same 540fps lock at 1440p. Oh and btw, I can do it whether I use a 4060ti or a 4090, since it's all CPU/RAM. Please please please people, learn about this.
People who are in the market for this type of monitor know this. Even alot of enthusiast level buyers wont care to spend the dozens of hours to max it out like that. Almost no one wants to trade stability for that
And also you arent getting 540fps on any game with a 4060ti man. Maybe at 720p with dlss but no way anyone is going to those lengths. CPU bottleneck on a 4090 doesnt mean you can get the same framerate on a lower end card dude thats not how that works
Also, you are using a CPU that performs better in certain games and you are running DDR5 also both of which he talked about in the video. I feel like you just commented to brag about your 540fps and the 100 hours you spend combing through every ship manifest for the library of Alexandria to gain 5 more fps and the 6400 runs of aida64 and memtest you ran you get your system stable. Did you get your bios title screen tattoo’d on your forearm?
@@absolutelysobeast I have a 4060ti that my gf used and I tested it throughly, my fps was 20 lower on average. 500 lock is easily possible with competitive settings because you’re still under 90% GPU utilization. Also, with a 7800x3d all I had to do was set up PBO -25 curve all cores, and then spend about 1 hour tweaking voltages and timings. I’m just at 6000mhz DDR5, my stability is guaranteed because I’m not doing anything that crazy, so I’ve been fine for 4 months. It’s not as complex as some people think, and it’s cheaper than his 13900k with DDR4 combo for more fps in basically every single esport title and most AAA titles as well. Not sure why you’re hating, this knowledge should be spread, not feared or shunned. A few hours of free tweaking for years of performance. Stop insulting and do better.
There is definitely an advantage to using this over a 360 hz monitor, even if you can't keep your 1% lows over 540. You don't need to run ULMB. I play halo and there is definitely an advantage with the 400-500 frames I get.
MW3 .. You're missing a setting for unlimited FPS. The column that you're under caps it at 300 FPS. I would try DLSS Quality and there's no way that you can't get your frame rate at least into the 400s if not the 500s @1920x1080. I can easily get my i9-13900K / RTX 4090 to ~300FPS @ 3440x1440 with MAX (High/Ultra) settings and DLSS Quality. CPU-Z J8P8UR
@@futureitpro3511its probably your CPU. CPU wont let you go very high unless its a year old or less and absolute top of the line. @@mryellow6918 .. Unless you are using some form of Frame Synchronization e.g. FreeSync or G-Sync then you're going to have "smudge" in the form of tearing. However, the video has more to do with a 500 Hz / 540 Hz OC G-Sync monitor so you need to unlock the unlimited frame rate, the custom slider limits your frame rate to 300 FPS not 250 or whatever. _FYI: As far as the Unlimited setting, I have no idea how high that can go. When I use it I see an occasional 340 FPS, but the frame rate is very erratic and unstable at least for my max settings with DLSS Quality on my RTX 4090. I have not tried nor do I care to try 1920x1080 to see the absolute max possible on my PC._
For PUBG, testing a big city would be more beneficial as it affects the GPU the most. With a 4090 on 1080p low you're lucky to get 300 fps while being in a major city like georgopol or yasnaya. Fighting there is pretty demanding on the GPU and you always run into a cpu bottleneck.
I bought the xl2566k 5 months ago. Ive only used it for maybe 6 hours. Been trying to sell it but im going to take such a loss on it. So its being used as a secondary monitor now.
I won't guarantee it, but I'm building a new PC and I'll need a 360hz monitor, who knows, maybe I'll negotiate it with you by then. Send me the ad link. 👍🏼
Can you do a comparison between the 360hz PG27AQN and the 240hz OLED PG27AQDM because i can't find the PG27AQN anywhere where i live and only the OLED is available and not sure if i should go for the oled because of burn in and if 240hz is abit outdated compared to the 360hz options
There must be a problem with your rig, I have no issues running Overwatch at 480+ average ultra textures on a 3080 10GB and 12700k, DDR5 manually tuned to 7800mhz.
And yes, everything for me is manually overclocked to the max, but there's no way I should catch up to your rig. DDR4 4100mhz+ should be near my performance level.
Im thinking memory speed has a lot to do with it. I have a weird motherboard that dropped when the 12900k did but still supported DDR4 bc the early DDR5 was still wip. Gonna rebuild in a couple weeks with a 7800x3d and some DDR5 and revisit
Nah, I dont run frame gen for competitive bc of the hit to input latency. I’ll take lower frames and lower latency. Single player is a different story, but never in competitive.
Great review. I bought the same monitor few days ago but after only 2 days of use I noticed it developed some weird dark spots in the middle of the screen. These are visible when I'm displaying a black background and slightly on gray, not visible on other colors. Could you please check yours and let me know if you are having the same issue?
I’m well happy with mine, I also run pg42uq as my main so versatility is not a huge concern for me. Maining OW 2 and I can pretty much run 500+ on a 4090

There's something wrong with how your CPU performs on COD. I get pretty much identical numbers with my 5600X. Usually changing the RendererWorkerCount value in the config to something close to your core count can squeeze out a decent amount of performance but your 13900K should be reaching 400+fps so it can't be just that.
Oh my god that gpu is incredible. The price matches the wow factor but damn that’s the first time I’ve seen an after market card that actually seems worth a hefty premium over a founders. If I was going for some sort of no compromise build, that would be the pick 100%. Also great monitor, but I just switched from the Alienware aw2523hf (1080p 360hz) to the ASUS xg27aqmr (300hz 1440p) and I think it’s a much more balanced experience. Having been on 1440p since 2016 or so, the switch to 1080 was rough for everything but competitive games. It’s becoming a weird niche in 2023.
i think the excitement should still be there cause its what the future holds, i think there will be games and optimizations for certain games so they can hit that 540 htz. It reminds me of the first 300 hertz monitors when they first came out, now we got 360 hertz 1440p with good colors and some games that can play it.
GPUs are so stupidly overpowered its ridiculous and overkill af. I think anything 4070ti/7900xt and below just needs a really good CPU to benefit from, thats it. 4090, 4080, 7900xtx is just unused potential really, no CPU gonna match with them good. Im definitely upgrading CPU to match my gpu sometime next year, cheers to a good video as usual
Nah I didn't. I've never played Siege and when Vulkan launched years ago iirc it was mainly for AMD cards? so I haven't stayed up on it. Good looks though.
I mean, i am getting an 4090 pc next week.. and i will be playing 24 inch 1080 yes i know sounds stupid but i want 4090 for my Vr sim racing that i do next to comp fps. And yes i play low settings for max fps. And my main games are literally cs:go valorant and rainbow six siege. So i guess this for me would be amezing right.
At 1080p use a 7800x3d, you will be fine in games like overwatch 2, rainbow six siege, valorant, and cs2. Intel right now is lagging behind amd for hitting good and high fps on games, its been covered for awhile. To be fair you make a point this is only a monitor for gaming in some specific games with the best cpu you can get atm which is the 7800x3d. In 2025 when the 9000 series comes out for amd, more games should be viable for this type of hz range for monitors tho.
It just seems absurd to me that we need a $3100 gfx card and a monitor with inferior display technology all to solve the limitations of sample and hold displays. When we had CRT technology 50 years ago that did not have these issues.
Great question! G2G response times have everything to do with how fast the monitor transitions from one frame to the next. What it looks like with lower G2G is that you can still see the previous frame exiting while the new frame is drawing in - that's Ghosting, not Motion Blur. In other words, G2G doesn't have a lot to do with motion blur. Motion Blur is when you eyes are tracking a moving target on screen and its why we test with a camera moving at the same rate as a moving target - to simulate what your eyes would do. The only way to reduce motion blur is to 1) increase refresh rate or 2) employ a backlight strobing technique to reduce the visual effects of "sample and hold". In this particular statement, I'm comparing two monitors with *very* impressive backlight strobing tech to OLED panels which lack backlight strobing bc their max brightness isn't enough to utilize strobing. If you compare these two monitors with their strobing turned off, then the OLED would look similar in terms of motion blur. You can check out Blur Busters for in-depth explainers of sample and hold if you want to dig deeper.
@@badseedtech thanks for the response I’ve heard that oled are by nature better so if you get 120hz oled it’s like you got 240hz on another panel as far as input lag and ghosting and motion blur is concerned I don’t recall the exact numbers so the numbers are just made up but , the idea is a lower oled is better than a higher refresh tn or ips panel
They’re only objectively better in G2G response times (ghosting) and contrast ratio. If you’re measuring *only* G2G then yes, its safe to say that a lower fps oled would perform “better” than a higher fps ips or tn - but thats misleading and definitely doesn’t tell the whole story. That said, if you’re not playing sweaty FPS and motion clarity isn’t your main concern, go OLED.
@@badseedtech I’ve got the oled g9 but the thing is it feels like I need 2 monitors these days One for sweaty FPS games and one for story narrative games Isn’t there something that is all rounder option one monitor for all use cases ? Don’t want to limit myself to one genre of games

Interesting... Will buy one for myself.

What a nice in debth review - Thanks!

Such a damn informative video. I had to subscribe brother.
I have this monitor. My system is:
CPU: 5800x3d
RAM 32GB 3200Mhz 14 timings
GPU RTX 3090
Honestly I mainly play Apex at 240fps, and I'd say if you can afford this monitor it's worth it, I know everyone will have their own opinion, but in terms of motion clarity it's just amazing. It was everything I was wanting it to be.

could you review the Innocn 27G1S? its a 27ich 1440p 240hz monitor for 300$ and every review i found says it can easily be on par or surpass ips/tn panels in clarity and motion handling without the typical black level smearing. but i think the most reviews are probably bought... would be amazing to have a trusted reviewer check it out!
I'll see whats up with it. I need to get a budget/mid tier monitor round up set for spring bc these new flagship panels are insanely expensive.
I just got a Asus TUF 260Hz 1440p IPS monitor for $400.

7800x3d would help close up some of these 1% lows

Usually changing the RendererWorkerCount value in the config to something close to your core count can squeeze out a decent amount of performance but your 13900K should be reaching 400+fps so it can't be just that.
Your CPU is kinda underperforming. Slow ram?

Oh my god that gpu is incredible. The price matches the wow factor but damn that’s the first time I’ve seen an after market card that actually seems worth a hefty premium over a founders.
14:10 how the hell is OLED worse in motion blur where it has a g2g response time of 0.03ms ????
@@badseedtech thanks for the response
I’ve heard that oled are by nature better so if you get 120hz oled it’s like you got 240hz on another panel as far as input lag and ghosting and motion blur is concerned
I don’t recall the exact numbers so the numbers are just made up but , the idea is a lower oled is better than a higher refresh tn or ips panel
