Yea and most people use monitor arms now so this improvement gives you like half a foot of extra cable which is important at high data rates because cables lose signal the longer they get, so they can’t just include a 10foot cable.
@optimum I think Zowie uses those thick bezels to passively cool their high hertz strobe backlight and prevent the heat from getting trapped inside the case causing the plastic to melt/warp. Since this monitor is strobing at 1100hz it probably gets a lot hotter and needs more ventilation. Also thicker plastic just makes it more resistant to breaking in general, and acts as a shock absorber which is pretty important considering that these monitors get transported pretty frequently at Esports events.

The smaller screen just is easier to take in and tn works perfectly in all lighting situations. This was something is didn't take into effect and my room's lighting just didn't work well for the IPS panel and oleds are even worse.
They aim at single target audience so there's that. And really others offer that already so why bother. Another thing, why bother yet again when OLED is the way to go from now.
Long time gamer here and gotta say Enabling blur reduction/ Dyac/ Motion blur reduction etc, i swear it's like playing on 60hz. I don't what it is but i think im not alone here . Anyone ?
Dyac feels like a lower refresh rate for me also. I've left Dyac on by accident and thought my kids messed with my computer. Maybe I'm spoiled by growing up in the CRT era.
Can't honestly wait for the best warehouse tour on all youtube. Also, I really like optimum reviewing monitors like these since they are actually worth to review since some cheaper ones have a lot of reviews online and they're not as exciting to review.
1:1400 contrast is probably, what impressed me the most here. Those ports sticking to the back is a deal breaker to me, its asking for breaking it, by accidentally yanking cables. Thicker bezels are likely due to more backlight sources in this model for Dyac 2. Honestly, those monitors are getting obscure now. I doubt they are making any profit, given how small the target audience is and what alternatives there are now.
@optimum In one of your last OLED monitor vids you mentioned new models coming in 2024. Do you maybe have an OLED buying guide video planned for the near future?
I think the difference between dyac+ and dyac 2 is the dual backlight to increase motion clarity even more but also to help with eye adaptation, i've heard dyac+ causes a lot of extra eye strain and these newer zowie monitors are just an update for that. if anyone has used a dyac+ and dyac 2 monitor let me know if youve noticed a difference! currently looking at the 360hz but also considering the dyac 2 240hz
Good to hear they are pretty much on par so I don't have early buyers remorse if the Zowie had somehow come out way ahead in some area. The ASUS 540hz has been simply amazing and even though the early adopter's tax was super high at launch time, it has been worth it so far.
Do you think its worth the wait to buy this monitor if I'm a sweaty cs and val player or just go with the ASUS 540Hz monitor? or even wait for the new oleds coming out this year. The cost difference isn't a huge deal for me aswell
The 480hz oled will definitely be superior competively because of the lower processing latency/input lag . The new 360hz oleds had 0.1ms input lag while the 540hz from asus had a full 1ms of input lag which is half your frame time at that refresh rate lmao. Not to mention the higher refresh rate advantage in Val and CS will be less in reality because I know 1% low fps in Val at least are only like 400fps tops with the best CPU anyway. If you wanna buy now tho not only is the zowie more expensive by $100 vs the asus but it is the same or worse in every way performance wise. Do NOT get the zowie 💀
I ordered a new QD-oled 360hz monitor, really looking forward to testing it out. Opinions are so mixed on refresh rate. Some say everything above 165hz is overkill, others seem to see every hz. I think it is not really a competitive adventage, but I think it is a quality of life improvement. But I will see soon enough:)
Ideal for rich ranked and pug grinders. It won't be the competition spec standard among tourney organizers for half a decade or more. So for people that actually pay the bills with their event results the 240 they've had since 2018 is gonna stay in their bedroom and at the bootcamp house for awhile yet.
Please review the Acer XV242 Fbmiiprx. It's $430 on Microcenter and I would like to see what the input lag, response time, and motion clarity is compared to the ASUS.
Been really enjoying your videos for a while, wondering if you going to be test the GIGABYTE M27Q and the LG 27GR83Q head to head with each other, would be interesting to see your opinion on these monitors, as they are much less pricey compared to the oleds and ultra high hz monitors.
I really considered these 480 hz + monitors but I settled on 360hz 1440p OLED for this year. I think it’s a good choice as I think I’ll appreciate the clarity of 1440p(I know there will be a 480hz 1440p OLED coming later). And I have a 4070gpu so it makes a lot of sense. I am trying to talk myself into it so I don’t wish I had something better but I’m sure it’s going to be incredible. I figure it will be easier to run 500+ frames with 1440p or higher in future and then I can upgrade everything yet again.
I took the plunge also and my reasons were as follows: - QD OLED has better contrast and colours than WOLED which is one of the reasons you go for OLED. - QD OLED are glossy, the LG 480hz matte coated. - I don't play CS GO or valorant so even on my 4090 I just won't be hitting those refresh rates. But don't get me wrong I'm sure they'll be fricken awesome but it's what swayed me this time round.
@@themetamind9305 I love this monitor. Just got the Alienware 360 hz qd OLED today. I was worried at first that it wasn’t a significant upgrade over my 120hz OLED tv. They need to slap a pair of the driver boards for that 540 Hz panel onto one of the OLEDS so we can get 1000 Hz, then we can just drive it like a plasma or a CRT and get that crystal clear motion at any refresh rate
thick bezels and case is such an obvious design choice i dont understand why you cant realize that? The only modern 1080p OLED you're going to get are those dual-mode ones. Don't ever expect Samsung or LG Displays to make a 1080 only display. And OLED isn't for poor people, so don't expect affordable.
We bought zowies back in the days because they were the first to push for what was important for gaming displays. I feel like they're a bit late to the 540hz party for how niche it is.

This was something is didn't take into effect and my room's lighting just didn't work well for the IPS panel and oleds are even worse.
They aim at single target audience so there's that. And really others offer that already so why bother. Another thing, why bother yet again when OLED is the way to go from now.
Almost 1M keep going

this is so important
diabolical comment
Finally some flatscreen monitor that can match refresh rates that old CRTs offered back over two decades ago.
Useless for this price. Just waiting for PG27AQDP (1440p 480Hz OLED).
That monitor is gonna slap
Long time gamer here and gotta say Enabling blur reduction/ Dyac/ Motion blur reduction etc, i swear it's like playing on 60hz. I don't what it is but i think im not alone here . Anyone ?
Dyac feels like a lower refresh rate for me also. I've left Dyac on by accident and thought my kids messed with my computer. Maybe I'm spoiled by growing up in the CRT era.
$100 cheaper nope more like $300 more expensive
Came here to say this!
I’m excited. Let’s go. Could be the end of the CRT era.
Can't honestly wait for the best warehouse tour on all youtube. Also, I really like optimum reviewing monitors like these since they are actually worth to review since some cheaper ones have a lot of reviews online and they're not as exciting to review.
I've always preferred zowie's products. Just wish they would make a 1440p high refresh monitor.
They used to make them, but their last one is pretty outdated now.
XL2735
I love your coverage on all things hardware. Selfishly I wish you would do a deep dive into 'gaming chairs'
We need that studio tour
1:1400 contrast is probably, what impressed me the most here.
Those ports sticking to the back is a deal breaker to me, its asking for breaking it, by accidentally yanking cables.
Thicker bezels are likely due to more backlight sources in this model for Dyac 2.
Honestly, those monitors are getting obscure now. I doubt they are making any profit, given how small the target audience is and what alternatives there are now.
@optimum In one of your last OLED monitor vids you mentioned new models coming in 2024. Do you maybe have an OLED buying guide video planned for the near future?
Can we please mix in some Itx case reviews, Itx builds, custom loops etc
Just want 27” 4K 240hz OLED
Who doesn’t bro with the right hardware would be an incredible experience.
@@pearce_nz yeaaa been 1440p for close to a decade or more now. The time is now. And as a competitive FPS gamer, anything over 27 is just too big
lol 27 inch 4k ew
@@agab3asbgedsbef479 Just say your poor, it would look incredible and would be so goofy 30inches plus for anyone who’s remotely good at video games.
I tried the 500hz monitor at LTT's LTX, and I was astonished at how slow and smooth the visuals seemed to be. I just wish I had a gpu to run one
1440p oled or 540hz? For competitve gaming. Also I've been using a 24" monitor for years now.
my main games -
Cod mw3/ warzone
Valorant
the upcomming 480hz 1440p oled gonna be siiiiick
Nearer to the 1M subs trophee ! Keep it up
I think the difference between dyac+ and dyac 2 is the dual backlight to increase motion clarity even more but also to help with eye adaptation, i've heard dyac+ causes a lot of extra eye strain and these newer zowie monitors are just an update for that. if anyone has used a dyac+ and dyac 2 monitor let me know if youve noticed a difference! currently looking at the 360hz but also considering the dyac 2 240hz
Good to hear they are pretty much on par so I don't have early buyers remorse if the Zowie had somehow come out way ahead in some area. The ASUS 540hz has been simply amazing and even though the early adopter's tax was super high at launch time, it has been worth it so far.
And remember kids, only top esports players would need something like this, you're not, so you don't. Go get yourself an OLED and enjoy.
I hope ZOWIE makes a 1440p monitor. Insta buy
@@Frozoken you aren’t reacting to a .1 response time compared to 1 , but for gaming and day to day use oled wins
It's always a good day when my boy optimum drops
Please review a CRT monitor, it would be interesting to see how it compares to modern monitors because it has 0 input lag amd no motion blur
I have 400hz benq and a crt also same colours crt still more responsive haha
Could you pick up the 240Hz monitor with Dyac2 and do testing and UFO? Is Dyac 2 better at 120hz?
people hate on the big zowie bezels but i kinda love em
one day ill buy a 1000Hz monitor that I literally only use to play quake. I want to see what quake at 1000fps is like
The price has been announced in China at 7799 RMB, and it will be available for purchase starting March 1st.
How this tn panel compare to new zowie 400hz 2566x + panel they the same?
For the next insane high refresh rate monitor, it would be nice to test Lossless Scaling's frame generation tech to push it to its limit
When DyAc 2 is enabled, which one has better performance in FPS games, the XL2586X or the MPG271QRX?
Ideal for rich ranked and pug grinders.
It won't be the competition spec standard among tourney organizers for half a decade or more. So for people that actually pay the bills with their event results the 240 they've had since 2018 is gonna stay in their bedroom and at the bootcamp house for awhile yet.
I’ll like to see your opinion on the XL2566x+ to see if maybe it’s worth it
0:33 540hz yet tearing?
any headache from strobing?
no
Dude, you look awesome with this haircut, really!
Please review the Acer XV242 Fbmiiprx. It's $430 on Microcenter and I would like to see what the input lag, response time, and motion clarity is compared to the ASUS.
Hey Optimum, how you liking OW2 Season 9?
His room is so clean
C'mon give this man the mil sub
I took the plunge also and my reasons were as follows:
- QD OLED has better contrast and colours than WOLED which is one of the reasons you go for OLED.
But then I realized once I turned on gsync (compatible) in my nvidia control center and turned on vsync. Turned on reflex in game. This is literally pay to win. You don’t just automatically do amazing but it’s so much easier to do well and see things smooth. VRR is a game changer with a high polling modern mouse and a great monitor with a computer that can hit the required frames. This is what I’ve been waiting my whole gaming life for. It’s so smooth and fun.
480hz is not that far off from 360hz ( at least latency wise)
there's also the XL2546X 240hz (newer version) that features DYAC2 and new improvements. Now I wonder if the XG2431 will still be the king of 240 Hz.
i have that one, is gonna still be great for 60fps locked games
They need to slap a pair of the driver boards for that 540 Hz panel onto one of the OLEDS so we can get 1000 Hz, then we can just drive it like a plasma or a CRT and get that crystal clear motion at any refresh rate
New 2566x+ with 400hz nicely fits here as a golden-middle
When can we get an OLED with backlight strobing technique
thick bezels and case is such an obvious design choice i dont understand why you cant realize that? Its an esport monitor it needs to survive travel i would make a bet that zowie have received direct feedback from leading e sport organizations that have had issues with monitors due to handing and set up
Do you think 540hz gives an actual competitive advantage or an edge to my competitors than 240hz besides feeling smooth like looking through a window.
yes
@@supernice_autoI was asking optimum.
I did some research and the xl2586x is priced at 7800 CNY which is roughly 1100 USD in the Chinese market, the ROG PG248QP is priced at 7500 CNY just for comparison
go for the XL2546K, is the same monitor
@@ezcout how is it the same? The pg248qp and the xl2586x are 540hz monitors while the xl2546k is 240
@@a1019952555 540hz is placebo.. do not get fooled by marketing. 240 is more than enough, just get the best 240hz in the market.
So crazy monitors releasing and all i want is a 240-360hz oled at 1080p for a affordable price
The only modern 1080p OLED you're going to get are those dual-mode ones. Don't ever expect Samsung or LG Displays to make a 1080 only display.
And OLED isn't for poor people, so don't expect affordable.
Beautiful videos seriously
We bought zowies back in the days because they were the first to push for what was important for gaming displays. I feel like they're a bit late to the 540hz party for how niche it is.
Thank you! Can you please review new Zowie 2546X and compare it with 2566K and 2546K. Everyone wants to see the difference between Dyac+ and Dyac2. Thank you!!!
Is it worth to pay the around 500€ more for the 2586x then the 2566K ? The only big changes are the 540Hz and DyAC2.... @optimum
Yes,if you have 540+fps
that bezel though
