Headless Cross= pure magic. Tony Martin's era of Black Sabbath is very underrated and this album is one of the best albums ever made. The song is amazing it has so much atmosphere in it. I really love Sabbath, Coven, Cloven Hoof carried it on for awhile. A lot of bands disappear after a smash. Go back in time to 1969 and 1970 Sabbath released two worldwide huge ones BLACK SABBATH and PARANOID and they are landmarks, masterworks, brilliant. I think this era carried on great from that era and also the wonderful era of Dio. I will never get over the loss of RJD. It broke my heart and still does. He is one of the best and you can hear the influence he had on the band with Tony Martin's vocals which carry that era on a bit. One thing, though, Tony couldn't or didn't reach for and hit the high screams in the studio version. That's really a shame, but he does sing the lower range and middle range brilliantly.

For those of you complaining about pre-recorded vocals, that part has a harmony, and it wouldn't sound right sung by just one voice. And AFAIK a single man cannot sing 2 melodies at the same time.

To all of you who think that this is a bad singing, just have in mind that Martin sang for 20 consecutive days, two concerts a day, on this Russia tour. He was amazing in the 80's, but obviously something happened to his voice in the 90's. He pushed himself too hard, I think.
His singing is good. Accurate in tonality, and dynamic, only the bridge before chorus, in original he sang up in octave. But he improvised in lower range and it is fine... For anyone who dont know the process of recording, Dio,Plant, Gillan, everyone, sings a 10, 20, versions of a song or a chorus, and the producers picks the best. For example Graham Bonnet, great singer, never achieved in Alcatraz live versions to sing the same octaves as in studio. Plant very rarely sang -there walks a lady we all know as it was recorded.
He was sick during the Cross Purposes tour and had a throat infection, but anyway he sung all the gigs. That is when he lost his voice. On the forbidden album his voice his rougher and he avoid hitting high notes. On the following tour he is merely ok. After this he was good in studio and just ok on tours.

Actually Cozy is the one who makes the song live and Tony Iommy of course. Cozy's energy makes the song sound better. He is lead all the time and because his playing the songs rises. And that is why Dio didn't like Cozy, Dio had a high ego.
