    • @camwelch9948
      @camwelch9948 2 роки тому

      @@arthurgordon6072 I didn’t know it was Ry Cooder. Keith always laid down great riffs, but great accompaniment from Bobby Keys, Nicky Hopkins, and Mick Taylor (just to name a few) pushed the band to a different level. The mandolin in the studio and the slide in the live versions really add to the simples blues guitar.

    28:43 Not telling granny how to suck eggs... but have you tried Monel strings, like Martin Retros? They are much warmer sounding and don't have that horrible zing & ping that bronze strings do. I use them on my acoustic for that "worn in" sound. I think I found out about them in the Bert Jansch Transcribed book IIRC

    If Jagger sees this I bet your phone's going to ring. If Keith sees this-he's gonna want to come to your house....and stay a LONG time! They REALLY improved Little Red Rooster! I'd love to see that version analyzed by you. Heart of Stone I think also is 12/8 time and that guitar solo also would be good to analyze. thanks for all you give us! I think James Jamerson never wanted to change his strings he supposedly said " The Gunk keeps the Funk"!

    Great video Adrian. You always think of Keith Richards as the human riff but he is also a fine acoustic player and this is one of many tracks which prove it. I've always wanted to learn how to play it so now have no excuse. Difficult to tell who plays the slide guitar on the track as both Ry Cooder and Mick Taylor play on the album but Cooder is credited with playing mandolin and it doesn't sound like Mick Taylor either so you could be right about Keith. Nice looking Les Paul.

    Beautifully done, because Adrian can't produce anything but the highest quality videos. But honestly, the original Robert Johnson song is much more interesting and a lot trickier than the stones cover, and I think more than deserving of a quality breakdown of its own 🐕

    This song is a source of great conflict for me.
    On one hand, I love the Stones' arrangement of this cover, and in general _Let It Bleed_ is practically a desert island disc for me.
    But OTOH, I absolutely HATE, with white hot hatred, that they claimed (and on CD packaging, still claim *to this day* ) that they wrote the song. And it wasn't the first time: on _Beggars Banquet_ they claimed to have written "Prodigal Son", which was also a cover -- and unlike Robert Johnson, Robert Wilkins was still alive and living in poverty. For a band that owed so much to the black blues tradition, the Stones should not have been screwing over black artists.
