😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂… I literally laughed out loud when Caleb said ….when you have an optic over the back flip-up sight…. Common sense is not so common… very tasteful Caleb; I don’t think I would have been that polite, but you are a true gentleman, sir….😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bought a set thinking the size would be more towards the MBUS pro size. These are still pretty big IMO. It would help if you would have put a set of pros next to these for comparison.
Great and valid point...if you have an optic "over the top of them" why are you trying to deploy them....sounds like the internet experts just want to cry and complain about something 🤔...
Some of use run them as primary sights. I have one set each of Gen 2 and Gen 3, and I miss the wings on the Gen 3. I do like the adjuster knob on the Gen 3 front though.
The front site adjustment wheel has spring tension. You can see the grooves that the wheel locks into once spring tension is released. You have to slightly pull up then rotate in order to adjust. It is not difficult at all.
get the MaTech rear sight, and any front sight that uses the mil spec width post, which makes ranging target distance possible since the post matches E target width at about 170 yards.
Been running them on all my AR-15s for a long time. Andrew Tuohy did a durability test back in 2012. Turns out they only had a 1MOA shift, compared to the competition which was anywhere from 3-16MOA after being dropped 5 feet onto concrete.
I recently purchased a pair of these, and of course, Brownell's had the best price on them at the time, but they were out of stock on the color I wanted, so they lost another sale. Nice sights, so far.
I upgraded to the Gen 3 and the windage had to be adjusted almost all the way left. Didn't have that issue with the Gen 2. Yes, everything is straight and flat.
I bought the mbus2, and then a olight afterwards. I ended up trimming the lever wing off the one side to accommodate the light! Works just fine. Don't be afraid to modify your gear for your needs.
Have a set mbius pros, love them for my back up on my carbine.. Got lucky on installation too, the were zeroed for my application. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Just thinking out loud, but maybe if your optic craps out and you don’t have a QD mount, im assuming you’d have to leave the non functional optic on and pop back ups? But if you’ve placed your pad tightly fitting under the optic then of course you wont be able to do that. Im assuming thats why people are complaining about not having the side wings. Obviously it would just be fixed by moving that front sight forward a bit but I don’t know, I guess people run out of rail space on their 5 inch AR’s lol
Wish I'd had that "no tool needed" front sight a few weeks ago. Would've made sighting in that much easier... My MBUS rear sight was a sinch. Gen 3 on my next rifle, then 😏👍
Not just in the military, when I was a kid in the 90s, they were just sights and my father and gpa raised me on buckhorn irons. Scopes around these parts hunting in southern OR make it more difficult in the thick brush
I don’t like plastic parts or accessories on an AR and that is just me. I installed a set of fixed Daniel Defense sights on my build and not one complaint from me.
I just got a set of these last week and put them on a rifle with an Eotech so it's not mounted under anything. The rear sight worked fine, just like the older model. I had a difficult time getting the elevation drum on the front sight to start turning, but it worked fine once I got it going. I'd suggest anyone getting these get the drum to turn easily before mounting it on your gun. Lastly it seems like I had to move the front sight up pretty high to get my shots low enough on the target. I like them and will get them in the future.
My primary gripe with these is very visible in the intro, they don't lay flat to the rail. It looks kinda stupid how they're always sort of camming upwards, I don't think the 2's did that so much.
I just bought the Gen 3 set and I think the Gen 2 sights are quicker to deploy. The Gen 3 front sight doesn’t appear to be working properly so I sent Magpul and email. I can’t get the post to adjust no matter which way I turn it
Man I've been wanting a good set of either Knight's iron's, but just can't afford them🤦 or even a set of Armadine's even, but again just out of my price ramge😒
I got the aluminum ones from Amazon for about 35 bucks and they work well enough. I have an optic anyway so I'm okay with them, just get the ones that have the best reviews. If I didn't use an optic I would probably get something better.
Looking for sight(s) to put on my shotgun that are raised up a bit so I don't have to lean my neck down so far to aim. I have a fiber optic site on the barrel currently. Any suggestions? Looking to take 30ish yard shots at turkey with plans to hunt other birds. I was so close to my first successful hunt yesterday...
Looking at how slim these gen 3s are, I’ll have to pick up a pair and see how it works with my exps3 and g45. I have to run the g45 all the way back so that stopped me from thinking of getting back up irons
My first BUS was an MBUS. I now run ultradyne c4. Once sighted in, you get on target if you see through both holes. Not a great MOA but it's meant for a back up. If you see your target it's getting hit.
Next to fuckin impossible to adjust, don't buy em. Pop up button sucks on both too. Plus my front sight post fell out other day, thank God I found fucker before wife vacuumed. Buy mbus 2
I still have a bruise on my thumb after trying to adjust the front sight of my friend's mbus 3. Apparently, you can push up on the gear to make it adjust easier but I didn't know that at the time.
Idk how comfortable I feel with that front sight being so easy to adjust with everything exposed like that. Seems like it'd decrease reliability since it's now easier to accidentally have it come off zero.
I could see not having the wings being an issue in some setups. My rear sight is sort of under my red dot and if my battery is dead I'd have to take the red dot completely off the rifle to use my backup sight with this new model.
Caleb, fellow Louisianian here. Love your content. I picked up the MBUS 3 sights, and the front sight adjuster is hard to adjust. Are there any pointers you can share?
Do you get pinched when hitting the release on the top? With my 2’s I like using the wings to deploy the sights otherwise I get pinched when I push the top.
The MBUS3 front sight is extremely hard to turn that tiny wheel, (I believe the wheel should be a larger diameter), anyways. Are MBUS3 compatible with an MBU2?... Can I use a MBUS3 rear sight and a MBUS2 front sight???
Those do look really cool. I've had the Gen 2 MBUS for about 3 years, and they're fine. I just got into the AR world in 2019, so I didn't realize what a change these are. The Gen 3 does look a lot slimmer and now I need a set on the next build. One point of disagreement, Caleb - I setup a red dot, 3x magnifier, and the backups on a build, and the magnifier mount worked out that I could get the eye piece to stand out over the top of the MBUS rear sight, but only to the joint. So, I have just enough room to flip up the sight, but only if I deploy from the side. The magnifier is on a flip-out mount, but this allows me to deploy-then-flip-over in one set of motion with my off hand rather than to flip-out-then-come-back-to-deploy. So, I get what people complain about without the ability to deploy from the side.
No matter what optic, Red Dot or Holographic sight you plan on putting on your AR or similar rifle the very first thing you should do is put some back up iron sights on there. There is no good reason not to have them. I went with the steel PRO Series for both of mine.
Besides my rocket comment, I’ve been using B&T sights. I what I like about them is they have a folded non-adjustable sights, and flip up adjustable sights which I find pretty awesome. Then again I have been running ‘irons’ only as of late.

It's expected.
Why so?
What schizophrenic shit is this lol

@TwitchTech 😂🤣
Yup, Magpul did good with these. Have a couple of sets already...by far the best quality budget backup sight option. Thanks for sharing Caleb!
Hey Caleb, thanks for speaking at the graduation last weekend. Essayons brother.
AIT graduation or something?
It was a pleasure!

It's nice that with the improvements to the gen 3 the price did not escalate dramatically.

I have both types and I honestly like the side deployment button better. Faster and more comfortable action
Added front and rear MBUS 3 to my M&P 12 Bull Pup. Robust backup sight.
