    Excellent !You actually gave a vivid and clear video so there's no confusion as to where you were taking apart the engine. The dealer recommends taking the whole assembly down from the bottom! Are you going to show a video on reassembly? I"m doing a 3.6 Chrysler 200 and was hoping I could remove it from the top, but wishing I didn't"T have to remove the whole front end! Thank You so much for your perfect videos!

      Thanks! I haven’t done any reassembly videos just because it the same steps to put it back in. Yeah most of the time I drop everything out the bottom. I just wanted to see how it was coming out of that top. On most cars it always easier coming out of the bottom. But I would have to say this one was not too bad coming out of the top. Good luck to you!

    This is a good guide, I am not car mechanic so this helps to have an idea on what to do, I have to replace a hydrolocked engine in our 2015 Town and Country my daughter drove it through water deep enough to kill the engine, taking the front end helps a lot but I saw you struggling a little at the end, I do have all needed tools except the lift but I am seriously considering to get a Max Jax two pole portable lift for this job because after this job I also have to do engine work on a 2000 Toyota Tacoma which has a blown head gasket and decided to remanufacture the engine; I only have experience with 1 car that was my wife Toyota Corolla which i replaced everything engine related and I remember the struggles with it, took me 3 years to complete the work but the actual time for me was just few days, but 80 percent of the car came apart including the dashboard as the AC components were all replaced as well and its been running, I missed not having a lift which is why considering a portable one, could be anything between 2.5 to 4K but how much we price our body? shoulders and back? to me they are priceless, with the portable one can not just walk underneath but work on a seated position but that is a big difference as to having to slide under in a dolly and with the Max Jax being portable I can use it in my driveway and storage it once done, I am thinking with the help of the lift and knowing the steps and ready I should be able to have the engine out in just a day, that is all fluids out and AC evacuated which I also have the machine for it. Giving my scenario and your experience, what is the most difficult part I would be facing and can you advise? right now the intake, air filter, coils, spark plugs and battery are out. The replacement engine I will buy it soon from Fraser, so in my case the whole electrical hardness have to come out, I take lots of pictures at every step and have an army of small cups where I place the screws and parts labeling and numbering the steps as I go, that is how I did the Corolla by myself.

      Are you sure the motor is locked up from water? That would have had to of been a really deep body of water to do that. I’m not sure how long it will take you. Everyone is different. I have done a lot of them so I can do one start to finish in about 8 hours. But this is what I do everyday. The lift would diffidently help. I will say it’s one of the easier motors to swap once you get the front end off. If you have any questions when you start on it don’t be afraid to ask. Hope this helps.

      @@csautomotive12 Well the water came through the intake which is low on these vans, she was in about a foot and half before the car stop, I removed intake, coils and sparks plugs there was a river of water into it, I sucked good half liter from each piston chamber, insurance adjuster inspected plus dealer as well, all coincide with hydro lock, the crank can not be moved, at least I could not, I would love to take the engine apart and fix it like I did with our Corolla but that one was failure due to oil starvation, this one may have bent a rod, hard to know without taking it apart, but the main thing is she needs a vehicle to move around as I am her personal chauffeur, she is saving for the engine and I guess she learned the lesson to stop before driving through a pool of water

      @@fireyourrockettsDang that’s crazy I have never seen that before. But there’s always a first for everything! Yeah if it locked the motor up then it probably bent some stuff. I would say a new or used motor would be better. Rebuilding motors these days cost a lot more then what you can by them for. Also these motors are a pain to get all set up in my opinion. Good luck with however you decide to take on the project.

      @@csautomotive12 Ever since last post, I bought a max jax lift and installed it in my garage, it gives me like 2 feet the car off the ground, better position to get to the stuff under it, I just noticed something I had not until now; the torque converter bolts, how in the hell i am going to rotate the flywheel when the engine is completely locked????? does that means I can not take this engine apart at all???? I hope the transmission being in neutral as it was set via the dashboard to be able to move the car, let me rotate the flywheel to get those bolts out or else I am in deep dodo

    • @csautomotive12
      @csautomotive12  8 місяців тому

      @@fireyourrockettsI don’t even think about telling you. In your case you’re going to want to pull the transmission with motor. Then you will just unbolt the transmission from the motor. The torque converter will stay with the motor. Then you can unbolt it from the flywheel.

    Just did one on a 2016. Everything is pretty reasonable to get to to unbolt. Unlike a lot of others.

    Would it be faster to take motor out or transmission if I need to change the torque converter? Thanks

      I have done both. And hands down the transmission is easier to pull!

    How they charge for change a motor ?

    • @csautomotive12
      @csautomotive12  9 місяців тому

      The price depends on a lot of different things. Labor rates are different in every state. Also it depends if you go new or used on the motor.

      Yes. This was on a 2014. They are all the same with the 3.6l.

    Where do you live and how much you charge for replacing that engine

    • @csautomotive12
      @csautomotive12  10 місяців тому

      I’m in Utah. It calls for 21 hours to do a long block. Also it depends if you go with a new or used motor. Then you have fluids and filters.
