Kyle, Great swap! Your location beats a fender well mount. What power steering fluid are you using? What is your long term experience with the installation? Thanks Charlie
Thank you. I haven't had any issues at all since it was installed. I think I'm using Type F atf. I actually installed a 351w about a year ago and was able to keep the same location.
Do You have the model & year of the Volvo P/S pump and also a source and P/N for the pump wiring harness. Thank You any information that You can provide will be greatly appreciated ! Thank You . 🇺🇲🇵🇷🦊👍
Volvo '04-13 s40, c70... Just be aware there are a couple of different variations as far as the filler neck goes. Some have a remote reservoir. The video I linked in the description shows different versions at the end. Try to buy one with the connectors, other wise you'll have to buy it separate. If you search eBay for "Volvo s40 electric power steering pump", you should get several results. Also, here is a harness that House if Dula used on his, www.ebay.com/itm/264419253643 Hope all this helps!
I've been running it about 2 years now with no issues. I did go ahead and put a toggle switch inside the car on the trigger line. With the 3 to 4 seconds delay it has, it was kicking on about the time I was starting the car. It goes off when you turn the key to start, but I didn't want it and the starter fighting for amps about the same time. Just flip the switch after the car starts.
When the engine is running, you never hear it. The stock power steering pump had a loud whine especially when turning. You could here it over the engine and that was with a new pump. . Just got tired of hearing it.
@Mastermindyoung14 you can touch the small gray trigger wire to power to turn on the pump. I turned the key on at the end to let you hear the pump when it's on. I did put a toggle switch on the trigger wire so I could turn the pump on and off when I wanted.
Thanks for sharing this helpful information! 👍
That was so smart to do

Quick question! I’m doing this on my 88 and I’m wondering what steering shaft&rack did you use!
It's all stock. I didn't have to change anything.
Man I am going to do that swap

Super cool but that's seems louder than a hydraulic pump

How can you hear a hydraulic pump with the engine off to compare? 🤔

Screws right in. But mine leaks.
Been a while since I've done this. Isn't there an o-ring for the high pressure connection on the pump and is it good?
@@kylehasten8275 thank you for the reply. Mine is a 98. Not sure about an o ring. But I got it just now. Over tightening was the problem.
