  • On a budget, but want to get started in more advanced photography? A used Olympus PEN might fit the bill. In this video I'll explain some of the pros and cons, show some pictures I took with mine, and then show the lenses I use.

i understand what people try to say but i agree but i kind of disagree with the title quite a bit since it can be quite misleading. you always see those ''is this a good beginner camera...'' on like cheap cameras and old cameras but for an actual beginner this can lead to the assumption that ''only beginners buy those sort of cameras and its not actually a REAL camera but just something for beginners''
either something is a decent camera or it is not. it has nothing to do if you re a beginner or not. isnt an amateur or a professional allowed to pick one of these up to have fun and to have a small pocketable camera to carry everywhere? i mean.. what if you wanna take some cool photos on a music festival for example? do you expect someone to carry a 2000$ camera to a festival storing it inside a tent? there are so many reasons why a person might want to pick up something like this instead.

Just picked one up week of Christmas for $60 in OG box, kit lens, 2 Batts, charger and case. I'm really digging the M43 as it's my first setup.

I love this little camera as an introduction to m4/3. My little video of it seems to show that it's still popular. Keep up the good work. :)

All of your lenses have the same 2x crop because of the sensor size. The 70-300 only needs an adapter because the earlier 4/3 cameras were DSLRs and had a mirror box so the lens mount (and flange distance) were different, requiring the adapter. A nice simple kit. If you can get an original first generation OM-D E-M1 your lenses will focus faster (especially the 70-300).

I found one in excellent condition for 44€. Would you say that's a good price? Thanks

I'm sorry, I don't recognize that unit of currency or know the conversion rate. Last I checked ebay, it looked like they had examples in good condition for around $125 to 150 (US dollars), but as they say, "buyer beware"!

@@timberwalkers I just checked the exchange rate and it looks like the € and $ are about the same as of now.

liked and subscribed. i don't know if the micro 4/3 is compatible with 4/3 cameras....

Hmm, I don't know either. But my guess is if they're not an exact fit, you could probably make it work with an adapter. Thanks for watching!
