Nice demo, Chris! I'm buying this pedal asap! Please create more vids about this pedal and demo how to use the effects loop and front input the best ways. Thanks!
You are very welcome. I kept seeing it on Amazon for $99, but I couldn’t find any reviews or sound examples on UA-cam. So I figured I would get it, try it out and make a video in case anyone else is it interested in how it sounds.
Is it worth it? I think so, especially for $100 USD. My needs are simple though, as I just wanted a desktop unit I could use. I think the dynamics are good. I’ve tried it with various pedals and it worked great, but if you would like to see a video with more pedals in use, just let me know. The question I have, does this fit my needs better than the Hughes and Kettner AmpMan. The AmpMan cost more but is more versatile in my book.

Awesome vid!!! tyty. Is there any place at all I can get a manual for this thing? I got one and I'd like to know some specs. Specifically, can I plug a 4x12 cab directly into the output. How do I know ohms rating(s)? Lastly, if that doesn't work can I plug the cab into the fx send and run that way? Thanks all for any help. G
@@garytowers6095 Thanks, much appreciated. I don’t know of a place online to download the manual, but you can check the manual for the device it is copying, which is the DSM & HUMBOLT Simplifier version 1. www.simplifieramp.com/simplifier-manual But just to give you some feedback on your questions. Can I plug a 4x12 cab directly into the output? No, not really as this device doesn’t have a power section. You would need an addition device, something like the Seymour Duncan Powerstage, to use it with a CAB or something like powered FRFR cab would be ideal. How do I know ohms rating(s)? It doesn’t have an ohm rating since it has no “real”power amp section. It only has an emulated power amp section. Lastly, if that doesn't work can I plug the cab into the fx send and run that way? No, sorry but that won’t work either. The Bloka Mugt Amp Sim is meant to be more of a direct solution for recording or for pedalboard/live use but you would need to run it directly to the PA or to a powered FRFR cab. I hope that helps some. If you have any other questions, just let me know.
Can I use this in the front of my 5Watt tube amp? It doesn’t have an effects loop is why I ask. My Peavey Bandit 65 has an effects loop so I know that will work. Just want to make sure I can use this on either amp of mine? Thank you!
Do you think this pedal is better than the boss IR-2 for a live gig use ? I'm thinking about which one to buy, boss one seems to allow you to have 2 amps settings in one pedal, but I don't know which one will sound the best....
Sorry for the delay in replying, but I've been out of town. Which would be better for live gig's, the Boss IR-2 or the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim??? Great question, but as with most things it comes down to use case, budget/price and style of music for which unit would be best. As you mentioned, you can go between two amp settings which could be very useful. On the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim, you can't switch on the fly between two amps, so you would more than likely dial in a clean tone and use pedals to make it crunchy or clean. Brand new the Boss IR-2 cost $200 and the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim new costs $100, so a little price difference is a $100. If it was me and I had to pick between the Boss IR-2 and the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim, I would probably lean toward the Boss IR-2, but that is if you like the amp sounds on the Boss IR-2. I think the Boss IR-2 is a little more versatile, the size is a little more pedalboard friendly. If you haven't seen "Direct Recording Guitar" video using the Boss IR-2, check out this video as you might find it interesting. ua-cam.com/video/r92Lv3faHSQ/v-deo.html
Hi. The Power amp Sim makes a change in your sound? I mean, in the one that I got that switch is the only one I'm doubtful of its functionality, as I don't perceive any sound change when tweaking it.
Yes, you can, but with one caveat...as far as I can tell, you can not disable the internal cab section. This isn't necessarily a show stop but just something to note. I actually tried it for the first time this evening by plugging into the return of the effects loop on my 5 Watt Bugera G5 and overall, I would say it sounded pretty decent. However I still would like to disable the cabs.
If the circuit is the same as the DSM, you can bypass the cab sim but running out of the FX Send Jack rather than the Output Jack. This should bypass the entire cab sim portion of the circuit.
@@Supernautiloid Well, cool beans. Thanks for sharing that. That isn’t the way a normal amp works, but I guess this isn’t really a “normal” amp. Assuming the Bloka Mugt Amp Sim followed this same methodology, I should be able to test this out. I still wish they had added a switch or a control to disable the cab sim. I like using the XLR outputs to go directly to my USB audio interface. Thanks again!
