Why they even thought to use metal in a kids toy is beyond my understanding. I took all my favorite toys in the bath and pool with me. Something that could rust is ridiculous in a girls toy especially. I LOVED washing a brushing my dolls hair.
You wanna hear something worse? I was looking for shower chairs because I’m disabled, and a lot of them had warnings in the reviews about large parts of the chair getting rusty. A *shower* chair. That’s SUPPOSED to be used in wet circumstances! 😂 Hello what!
Since i strictly collect OG ponies and find several at my local flea market these videos are great at showing me that practically every pony can be saved.
I found this same pony at the charity shop today! Her hair was intact but she had a few stains and paint marks. Nothing a bit of vanish and nail polish remover couldn’t fix! Her cutie mark had chipped paint too, but other then that she’s in mostly good condition.
Woah! A G1 pony at a charity shop? I've been hunting for those and so far, I haven't even found genuine G4 ponies 🤣 I managed to find some G1 bundles on eBay though but I hope to find some in charity shops soon haha Great find 🥰
You know, I'm actually looking for a pindot-ridden pony to test my ultrasonic cleaner! But believe it or not, they are difficult to find!! Thank you so much for watching :)
@@lacytheespeon517 They are a type of fungus or mould. They look like tiny black dots inside the plastic. You can normally remove them by scraping them with your nail (🤢)
omg, it's my pony! Well, not MY pony, but I had one just like her when I was a kid! I remember if I put my nose to her, she used to smell soooo sweet! I still remember that smell to this day. Nice to see her get a little tlc after all these years, even if it was a little harrowing for me to watch you decapitate her lol.
I think they look super cute (at least when the eyes are still working xD). Apparently they are officially called Beddy Bye Eyes ponies! mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Category:Beddy_Bye_Eye_Ponies
@@zarachastellaris9016 I have a few of these babies to restore but I haven't researched yet a way to de-rust the eyes (and readd lashes). Maybe vinegar? 👃😁
Not really, this is just the one I bought and it's so big I haven't needed another one. I can only say that it hasn't given me problems with coloured vinyl. But I don't think it would make a difference if it's the regular one, I believe lots of people use it!
❤ so happy to find your channel; this was my very first "My Little Pony" ! The Cutie Mark was supposed to be scented or else represented a dessert scented series, I thought I'd remembered? I think she was supposed to smell like a custard or that's how I understood at the time, lol! 🍨🐎🐴💜💚 Thank you for doing what you do💜🤘
Hello and great video! Been watching some other mlp restoration videos of yours, customization is something im interested in and would love to start doing if i had the time and resources. Do you have any advice to share, namely acquiring ponies and tools/materials (all hopefully for a good price) but of course anything else you wanna share? Keep up the good work 👍
That's so great that you want to start doing restorations!! For MLP, you can sometimes find "bait" (damaged) ponies on eBay and Etsy. Or you can ask in the collectors groups on FB, there is a lot of buying and selling there. For materials, you will need nylon hair, a rerooting tool, and probably acrylic paints. The hair is on Etsy, a bit more difficult to find in general. Let me know if you have any specific questions! You can also contact me through Instagram (link in the video descriptions)
Hey! I love watching your videos :D they inspired me to start collecting and refurbishing too! I bought a pony with 'beddy bye eyes' that are inset, and I don't know how to safely go about cleaning them ;v; Do you think you'd ever take on one of those for a video?
Thank you so much! 😊😊 I haven't cleaned a beddy bye eyes yet, but I have a few - and they are very rusty! Are yours rusty too? I plan on using rit dye rust remover (actually, not that brand because it's so expensive here, but a similar one). You can also try with toothpaste and/or sodium carbonate. I will try to make a video about these babies soon 😊
I wish I could just send you my dirty/ruined MLPs (‘cause it seems like you have fun doing this), but you live much too far away because I don’t live in the U.K..
Hola! Seria para un encargo o "regalo" para hacer un video? El tema es que estoy en Inglaterra y los envios son bastante caros. Mandame foto a traves de Instagram y veo si puedo ayudarte remotamente!
@@RetroGeekCrafts Auch, no tengo IG. En realidad más allá de los labios tiene más cosas, pero sí querría recuperarla, aunque lo de los envíos es cierto. Disculpa mi curiosidad :)

You know what's especially "interesting"? They used GIANT metal washers for the sea ponies. The sea ponies!!!! xD
@@RetroGeekCraftsthat is seriously hilarious 🤣

Oh nice!!! That's a great find 😊😊 I hope you had fun cleaning it!
when I was younger I used to wash my toys with soap and an old brush, and also shampoo and conditioner. I was born knowing B)
You are a natural!! ☺️☺️🦄
Wow! I wish i could buy some wigs and rehairing tools so I could do rehairing on ponies as well. Same with retailing.
I hope y ou can! I'd love to see your projects on your channel some day!
RetroGeek Crafts Yes, but then I shall have to go to a party supply store somewhere in Norway to do that.
Her new hair is lovely! Great job!
Thank you! 😊
Wow first pony of yours I’ve seen that had pin dots (“smooze”). Beautiful job!

These videos are so nice! Specially bc I just got in a lot of g3s i need to clean =w=

Yes! She was perfumed! Sorry about the decapitation :/ all is better now 😊😊
Yes! I had this pony too in the early 90s.
I have a Baby Lickety split with the"sleepy eyes", I think that's the right term for eyes that open and close!

I liked her tail braided. It was kinda cute.
Indeed, it was the first pony braided tail I liked. I think it's because it was full and it was a "ball shaped" in the end, pretty cute.
I like it too! But I wasn't sure about the condition of the hair so I wanted to take a look first. Imight rebraid it again 😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts Be sure to show it to us if you do! I'm sure she'll look cute and beautiful in her full recovered and gorgeus tail, thanks to you!
I see that you've used a specific color safe oxiclean in your videos. Have you used regular oxiclean with negative results?

A quick dip in a light dose of blue dye would have made all the difference to the hair here.
I believe those ponies had scents.
You are correct! 😊😊
I can’t remember where but I believe you can find scents made for vinyl doll restoration.
This makes me wish I still had all my G3 ponies 🥲
Oh, I hope you can get some of them back!! 💕
