A larger round hole near the top of the dome may be better- rats could get in and mice could still get in. It would have caught the Hundredth Mouse! Worth a test?

In the UK that link automatically sends me to a different mousetrap (flip side bucket lid mouse trap). I assume it is because your specific trap is not available on the uk website, so the amazonians send buyers to a different trap. You might need to add a warning or something to your description. Looks like a great trap, congratulations.

And let's be real, that mouse was literally 1 in 100. A 99% success rate is still amazing.
Edit: Yes, I get it, he caught 100 mice and one got away, meaning 101 mice shown. But guess what, he had to catch that extra one to account for the one that got away, which got away from the original 100, requiring that extra one be caught. It's still a 99% success rate because the extra was extra, and the test was to 100.
Oh, and to the guy saying 99% is bad... how's your batting average?

I have a question/suggestion for your trap. Would you consider making the lid transparent? I’m considering buying it but I live out in the woods and I would place this trap outside my home, maybe even dig a hole and place the bucket in it to make it easier for rodents to access the trap. My worry is that snakes will also go into the trap. I really don’t want to go to remove the trap each time not knowing what to expect and have snakes in there, as I’m terrified of them. The popular bait traps one might see against a commercial building also have a transparent lid.
It would also help in seeing if we caught something without having to remove the lid. Anyways, just a suggestion. Really hope you read this and considering making it transparent!

Shawn, I received my Dizzy Dunker and am impressed with your design but not so impressed with the implementation. I assembled the unit, placed it on a 5 gallon bucket and then went to remove it so I could place on another 5 gallon bucket. Every time you flex the lid assembly the clear plastic covers explode off of the base. I think these need a better locking system like a sized wedge that pushes into slot and will not pop out. I have hopefully resolved the issue by running a hot glue seam all the way around the unit. I don't want to rain on your parade and wish you nothing but the best but wanted to let you know my thoughts. If you would like any further information please feel free to reach out. Sincerely, Chris Williams

Here's another design idea to make your cost even cheaper.
Take away one of your paddle dividers.
    Fine tuning:
The plate should rest slightly higher at the entrance side so the plate sits slightly sloping down at the other side. This helps with slippage and resetting.
    RSVP
Make the board rest on a lip near the entrance so that the floor is stable when the mouse goes in. The plate is slightly weighted at the entrance side.
Mouse travels past the centre point and the plate then flips up at the entrance side, so the mouse falls off the other side of the plate
The mouse can't go backwards because that floor has raised up. Mouse slips off and into the bucket.
There needs to be a limiter on the lid which stops the plate from going completely vertical otherwise it won't reset to the weighted end.

Years ago I saw a documentary about native peoples who live on islands and have problems with mice and rats. They dig pits and bait them, but make the bait unreachable. After serval mice /rats are trapped in the pit and begin to starve, they start eating each other. The claim made is that the mice /rats become cannibalistic and when they are down to a few mice / rats, they lower down rope for them to climb out. These released mice /rats retain the cannibalistic nature and begin hunting and eating other mice /rats preferring the young ones and by doing so they work to help keep down the population. They also believed that these cannibalistic ones taught the behavior to their offspring as well. Supposedly with a year the island would see drops of up to 90% in the mice /rat populations.

Another spot that works both on the flip and your spin trap to put bait is the underside of the cover - top center, and then at 45 degrees (half-way) on either side. This way they will reach for it and cause the platform to move, but because it's out of reach it doesn't get eaten.
Just make sure you disassemble these before storing, as they still work for longer than is stomachable ( and what a horrible way to go ). I'll spare the details.

This mouse trap is probably effective in a barn. If you live in an urban area, don't even think about using this thing. City mice will not even touch that thing when there are infinite sources of easier, more available food around. Sealing off holes is the #1 most effective way at stopping city mice. They will go find easier food in lieu of trying to break into a human dwelling.
