Hi Mario. The fruit you metioned at 2:50 in Malaysia we call it "cermai" in Malay. In English it is called "Malay gooseberry" or "West Indian gooseberry".
this couple did a better ads for Malaysia's tourism than the ministry of tourism itself. i hope they'll hire you for their promotion events that they do from time to time ❤
This is one of the better vlogs of Kelantan by any UA-camr that I have watched to date. Travels On Toast you really managed to capture the cultural side of it, there's more yet to be discovered though. 👏👏👏🌺. Enjoyyy
When you enters east coast, you will experience real traditional lifestyle, real classical malay dialects, real tradition, real majestic places, and nice untravelled, untouched jungle and scenery places, its felt different vibes than the west coast for me
Saw that part where you say the coffee is too sweet, which is funny because Kelantanese are well known to have a sweet tooth! Most of their food are known to be more an a sweeter side and I think it’s because they are rural people. Since you tend to do more laborious work in village, then they need some extra sugar to compensate for that. Hence why even if they eat lots of sugar, the amount of diabetic people in Kelantan is among the lowest of all 14 states in Malaysia. Hell, I think Kelantanese foods are probably the healthiest in Malaysia since they incorporate lots of fishes, veggies, free roaming chicken and soups in their culinary like Nasi Kerabu.
Then making of gasing is top notch! Org muda kelantan kena organize this sport game secara meluas. Kalau tak nanti hilang tradisi. Teringin nak sampai kelantan
Shadow Play originates from ancient culture in Malaysia and Indonesia. It does not originate from Thailand. Just that parts of Thailand were under the Malay empire before as well.
This traditional topspin (also other traditional games & crafts) will vanish in decades because state Cultural Department (with cooperation with Education Ministry) never try to organise annual competition from zone level to state level among public schools in Kelantan.
The people of Kelantan and the provinces of Southern Thailand are essentially the same people... until the modern day border of Malaysia/Thailand existed. The sultanate of Kelantan and the former sultanate of Pattani of South Thailand were intertwined...in fact the current Kelantan royal family can trace their ancestry to the Muslim sultanates of south Thailand.
Actually, the whole southern Thailand is part of Malay peninsular. You can go to kra isthmus (segenting kra) and found stone inscription created in 1800's stated that this is beginning place of Malay peninsular. British give northern part of Malay peninsular to Thailand without Malay sultan acknowledgement. Its like people who go to your land and split your land with your neighbour without you knowing. This treaty is called Bangkok treaty 1909 and supposed to be ended 100 years later (2009) but our government just stay silent for unknown reason.... Our Malay ancestors defending kra isthmus for 700 years from Thailand invasion (1200 to 1900) but when British came, they give it to Thailand and until this days, there's separatist who demand independence from Thailand government but Thai government saw them as terrorist. Sad thing is Tak Bai tragedy in 2004 when Thai government doing massacre against Pattani people while accusing separatist creating rebel among Malay there, the truth is they just create an excuse to kill people and reducing population so Thai people can go live there.
RM6 for nasi kerabu with ayam madu. that's abit of a local price around here. It's a good thing the seller were very honest. Ehen exploring east coast, it's best for you to visit local places instead of tourist attraction. Much more to learn & experience.
Wow you two lovebirds have been in malaysia for quite a while now, you already know blue/butterfly pea (malay: bunga telang) for the _nasi kerabu_ and you can even say _ayam bakar madu_ without flinching! 😂👍👏👏👏 Great to know you two are getting to perhentian finally, it's just superb! Enjoy!
Many of the beaches on the east coast are unfortunately being eroded by the rising sea level and have to be barricaded with rocks. If not, the beaches are even more beautiful.
As a Kelantanese I love how respectful, genuine and focused your approach and discovery in your video. I think we are very hospitable hosts but to get guests like you two, we would never want you to leave and give you all we got! 😍
Fun food fact, quince is super high in pectin which helps a lot in thickening jams and jellies. Back before commercial pectin was available to buy people would add a bit of quince to other fruit to make jam!! Great video guys!! Happy Travels
Memg kebanyakan tempat di Msia indah, tetapi akn lebih indah jika kebersihan diutamakan. Jagalah kebersihan walau dimana juga. Keep clean then the beauty shining. 😊
I live not to far away, Pasir Mas. I haven't gone to these places, I only go for certain things. The bigger cities have Mall and places like Imagination Office and JPJ for license. I must say I went to get new license, I walked in went upstairs, sat down and got called to window. Gave my paperwork sat down in less than five minutes I was given new one. Cipat. Unbelievable. Try that at DMV.
Great video this time. Love how you two exploring the culture and try those traditional games. Even the music you use is spot on! Hope you stay longer and do more cultural exploration in coming videos as not many youtubers covering the hidden gems of east coast!
The shadow puppet or in Malay called 'Wayang Kulit' originated from India in the early centuries about Hinduism folklores. It arrived in Java (part of Indonesia now) altogether with Hinduism and Buddhism. During old Malay Kingdom of Sriwijaya Empire, 'Wayang Kulit' has been embraced in Kelantan and Southern part of Thailand (predominantly Malay communities). In Indonesia they have two versions of Wayang Kulit; Balinese and Javanese. Meanwhile in Malaysia, only in Kelantan exists and it considered part of Malay heritages. During 3 decades Kelantan under Islamic ruling party; Wayang Kulit has been modified towards more history telling and no more about Hinduism folklores. Many traditional practices that contradict to Islamic teachings are no longer been practice in Kelantan as many of them inherited from Hinduism and animism. Shadow puppetry on Hinduism also exist in Thailand and Cambodia, and in other countries (non-Hinduism) also do exist included Nepal, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Germany, France and USA, and only Syria has listed Shadow play as 'intangible cultural heritage' by UNESCO. Kelantan is considered as ' A cradle of Malay cultures' due to most Malay traditions originated from there included; Wayang Kulit, Makyong, Gasing (top spinning), some traditional Malay instruments, traditional kites especially 'Wau Bulan' and 'Wau Kucing' which also symbol of 'Malaysian Airlines', Malaysian batik and Malaysia songket, and many traditional Malay delicacies. The famous Kelantanese food is 'Nasi Kerabu', Kelantan Laksa and Laksam and many more.
Welcome to Perhentian island. There are two islands. Perhentian kecil caters for backpackers & Perhentian besar usually for family or companies gathering. Long beach in Perhentian kecil is the most famous beach.
Nasi Kerabu is healthy but Nasi Campur can be way more healthy..just depend on you to serve what kind of vege and protein for white rice to become a 'Nasi Campur'..😄
You should use your hand skills again, Mario 😂 mix all the ingredients in nasi kerabu and smash it. Btw it’s unfortunate that you guys had a little time here cause there’s still a lot of place and also lot of beach cause we know you guys really love it 🙌🏻 enjoy your journey guys! ✌🏻

Southern Thailand used to be part of Malay Peninsula. In 1909 British give it away to Thailand.
Britannia really enjoys splitting up the world.
Very bad Brits

Rindunya kota bharu. Tanah kelahiran ku. Bertahun tahun ku tinggalkan
"Kota Baru" is Castle(city) that's new or Newcastle..
..maybe, relocation of the kingdom's administrative capital some centuries ago..
Kelantan foods known as food heaven becoz of its variety and also more cheaper and more easy to get rather than other state
The fruit you mention at 2:50 is "svarainis" - quite popular in Lithuania 😅

Could it be sambal with cermai fruit that you were tasting? The fruit is small, segmented and has sour taste. Usually yellow in colour.
