I haven't been given any proof that Ka is closing soon. As much as a closure is possible, im not expecting it until a fromal announcement has been made. I'm not going to the park without it, as I live overseas. I feel grateful that there are 2 accelerators very close to me
Yeah I agree 100% that they were watching very closely the disaster that was Top Thrill 2 and said “we’re definitely not doing that.” And then had to make a decision to either keep eating the maintenance cost of an essentially defunct coaster model or just remove the whole thing and build something new that’s more reliable and as much of a capacity machine i:e a Giga with Green Lantern also closing
Kingda Ka I am told has another year. Jackson has issued no permits to close this down and tear it down. You need permits to tear down something. And permits to replace it. I say it stays until 6 Flags finds a suitable replacement. One way they may close sooner is that if there is a huge mechanical issue. Then I see it close mid season 2025 and e SBNO until they make an announcement. So I see this up another year and likely running one more year. There are survey markers around Green Lantern though and some near Kingda Ka to a lesser extent. I am told Zamperla is not an option. New Jersey prohibits another compan other than its manufacturer to change the coaster. So if they go that way it will be Intamin no matter how good or bad the Dragster turns out in 2025
@@jacobrotkowitz3978 STILL I know very little about this. Heard the same rumors. I will say IT WILL NOT get the Zamperla conversion. IT CAN'T. New Jersey state law does not allow that. The law in this state would only allow Intamin to renovate this coaster. That much we know. But the closing could well happen. My guess is if not this season - next year sometime. The coaster is damaged but still safe. Lightning hit it this past summer playing a role in Zumanjaro not opening much if ever. Hey back in 1980 WABC was rumored to be going talk and late spring 1982 that happened. I think Kingda Ka will either be razed or renovated. If its to be razed it may close - well may just never reopen - Its November. My feeling is these are the possabilities 1. It closes imminently for the season - NOTHING IS SAID ALL WINTER. Then in March its still standing - BUT NO OPENING - NO REASONS - rumors it will never again will open are rampant and park employees are all saying they doubt it will reopen. It stays standing throughout 2025 while Lantern is announced to be removed which is already carried out by April 2025. KIngda Ka remains SBNO until the end of 25 and then torn down. Announcements are made Fall 25 about one replacement for 2026 (maybe a drop tower and small coaster) and one for 27 (another tall recrd breaker of some sort - B & M Gigi or Srata or a MACK rides 400 something coaster. 2. It closes with an announcement on a replacement in a matter of weeks after KIngda Ka closed for Holiday In Park. So still no last rides and both coasters are removed an similar announcements are made for new coasters and rides for 2026. 3. It does close as usual in a matter of days and reopens as usual in March with no announcements to the contrary but Lantern is gone. The coaster runs as usual with usual blemishes but nothing disasterous. Then in August they announce its indeed going too and they announce the 2026 or 2027 replacement. KIngda Ka then gets torn down that fall and construction begins for a lareg coaster, a small one, and a couple other rides. 4. Same as three or one except Kingda Ka gets renovated y Intamin. 5. Same as 1 or two except nothing is announced. 6. NUmber three except Kingda suffers a huge breakdown and closes May. June or July and fixing it is just too costly - like Volcano. They announce it wont reopen late in 25 and its replacement is announced. I think removing KIngda Ka and tearing it down will happen. Just like as a kid in 1980 I knew WABC would go talk which they did May 82, Question is where are we in the process? Where WABC was in 1980?, 1981? May 1 of 82? (changed on May 10) or February of 1982 when they announced it? Some sayy we are where WABC was at the end of April of 82 which means the coaster is closing soon if not already permanently. Others say we have about a year. I am hoping its about a year but I am very worried that its closer to a few days. My guess is the Number 2 scenerio. HOPE TO GOD I AM WRONG....I AM WORRIED
That is one of the big questions at the moment: if the rumours are true, when will SFGA announce the closure, and how long will they give riders to say goodbye? In theory you're right, but Cedar Fair's management have been known in the past to ignore those concerns. Volcano The Blast Coaster is the perfect example again.
I get they want to remove the whole thing, but that would mean they lose zumanjaro as well. Surely a swing launch system made by a competent manufacturer like Intamin would work better as well as a layout extension in the green lantern plot (because apparently that’s gone too), rather than removing two headlining attractions, one of which puts GA on the world stage
I'm kicking myself as I was in New Jersey for something else just a few months ago but had no way to get to the park as I don't drive and I'm based in the UK so I can't really just go back on a whim.
I am surprised that lesser parks without the budget of the big boys are keeping their Intamin hydraulic launch coasters going if parts are so hard to get (Warner Bros Movie World in Australia and their hydraulic launch coaster Superman springs to mind). Or is the launch system on things like Superman different (and more reliable) than something like Kingda Ka?
I think it's to do with the scale. The smaller Accelerators can be equally unreliable at times, but Kingda Ka, TTD and Formula Rossa were putting all those launch components under a whole new level of stress. I imagine the hydraulic launch coasters will begin to die out eventually, but just the sheer scale of those three means that they've unfortunately outlived their service lives much faster than the others.
@@iliketrains3546 I rode Fury325 a bunch back in June… honestly it didn’t even come close to living up to the hype. I prefer Leviathan to it. Much prefer Magnum to both of them. In Carowinds… I think Cooperhead Strike and Afterburn are the real winners.

In Great Adventure RIGHT NOW, just got my boyfriend his Kingda Ka credit right in time! Rode it three times to open the day. Such a spectacular ride.
I'm so glad he got to ride it!

As someone with the initials KA I probably need to get on it.
Isn’t it one of the park’s signature attractions? There’s no way they’d just get rid of it without any buildup.

Maybe they could build the American version of Falcon's Flight.
