I went there late Jan around the same time as you, and I completely agree. FOWW dispatches were horrible, and the no shade really messed me up. The first impressions were so good, and then it all just went out the window

Movieworld don’t give a rats about the guest experience, they’re laughing all the way to the bank on your dollar. I have visited over 40 theme parks worldwide and can honestly say that the operations and procedures at movieworld are amongst some of the worst I have ever seen. The staff are incredibly slow, and often very uninterested and unenthusiastic, however I believe this stems from the top. Management! Over crowded, disrepair, uninterested in the guest experience. Lucky if you get half the rides available on any given day, not uncommon to have 2 hour waits for a family ride? It boggles the mind. The bit that confuses me is that this issue has been getting worse for a few years now, yet people continue to show up in droves every day to this park, can anyone help me understand why this is? I would love to see movieworld return to its glory days, but current management will never get it there.

I’ve complained about the ride ops at Movieworld. They do nothing. May need to go on to google reviews and have people start giving 1 star reviews

I kinda agree with you man. Every time I've been to a Village Roadshow park the operations have been unbearably slow except for ONE LUCKY DAY on Superman Escape where the ride crew were absolutely sending those trains out every couple of minutes. I also tell the crew once I'm on ride that they are doing well, if they're doing well. Safe to say I usually don't say anything to the ride operators 😂🤣

TNT in Victoria (which is the same Vekoma SFC Layout) dispatches their trains wayyy faster than wicked witch. That is completely embarrassing especially for Movie World Standerds

Imagine coming from another state and experiencing what you did!, also when’s Scooby Do opening, and how does a Warner bros theme park no have their flagship character Batman!. I loved Arkham asylum!.

Honesty is best policy plus you know your stuff

In regards to the themeing of the area, if you had to PicoPlay's website, you look at their concept art for it, this area looks so much better in the concept art than it does in reality. You cannot see warehouses anywhere. The interior of the Emerald City room has much more life and depth to it than what it does in reality. The Wizard of Oz area, sorry, precinct...is so good that it doesn't even appear on their website as something that is celebrated. Village Roadshow definitely had way more say in how things turned out.

Don't kick yourself too hard for the tone of this video. I'd much rather you be honest than paint everything as perfect all the time. If people are watching these videos in anticipation of visiting these parks, it's only fair to show them the full picture.

Never apologise for being honest. We need more vloggers like you man. Movieworld needs people to stand up and tell them how it is. Besides that theme park has being like this for years now. I rarely visit that park maybe other than to walk around and try to get a ride in on Wild Wild West. I prefer going to parks that truely do cater for their customers and not themselves ie Dreamworld or even Seaworld. Just my two cents here.

Love the videos, am planning to go in June to check out the new area. Hopefully by then the scooby doo revamp will be completed.

The ip had so much potential, just a little annoying to see it being used at half of the potential. There are a lot of amazing sections, and a lot of negatives.

Call me crazy but I honestly wish that Arkham Asylum just got a refresh on the ride itself, the theming alone was at least top 3 at the park but the fact that it was still the same Lethal Weapon ride from 30 years ago weighed it down

I’m not sure if it’s an unpopular opinion but I don’t think the land needed two coasters at all. I think a single family coaster was a great idea but aside from that the land failed. I think they should have included a ride similar to the looney tunes river ride which told the story of wizard of Oz, as well as a small kiddie ride or two. If you’re going to target families, you have to actually target families. A stall or two selling shitty merchandise for kids and food. Hell even a playground type area themed to the story of wizard of Oz would have been amazing (a bit like the one at SeaWorld). Who ever designed this had never spoken to a family before! It’s like they just wanted to have the record for most coasters in their park.

Leviathen coaster at Sea World is insane, i loved it.

I think the old school design was cool which they have bits from movie back lot stuf should have been kept and I think expansion would have been better than wiping things altogether.

What about “The Demon” from Wonderland? It went forward then backwards

We went to both Movieworld and Dreamworld in January. We aren’t “rides people” but went with a friend and her adhd teenage boy. Dreamworld was better. He enjoyed it more. The waiting for rides was difficult for him and we missed seeing a lot of what you pictured of the Oz precinct because we didn’t go past the first section. We didn’t see the poppies or anything because we thought it was only for those going on the rides. Probably won’t be back.

Fairyland pleasure grounds off delhi road lane cove was a childhood favourite used to go there in the sixties right on the lane cove river slides picknick grounds flying fox the entrance was 200 yards. From the present day crematorium. But nothing is left of the site today there is a walk that goes from the lane cove river epping road bridge that goes through the old site ending in lane cove national park.

27:43 The last time they "re-vamped" the Scooby Doo spooky coaster that made it LAMER by using digital screens! Also, they removed Arkum Asylum? So, it's now gone from Gremlins (though that might have been Scooby-Doo... it was a long time ago), to Lethal Weapon, to Arkum Asylum, and now Wizard of Oz? IT WAS A GOOD RIDE! I never even got to experience the VR version of the ride, and I only got to do it once. The theming at the entrance, OMG with the cop being tied up and wiggling above you was GENIUS! This... yeah it looks lackluster at best, and I did find the EXACT SAME RIDE and Gumbuya World which is only 40 minutes from me (but the prices leave something to be desired, so no plans to visit atm)

I went to Magic Kingdom once as l was watching and thinking of the amusement park in Lonsdale and you showed and there was another amusement park on the Hume highway around Preston's not far from Liverpool

I went to the Bacchus marsh lion park in the late 70s, did you know that Kryal castle in Ballarat also had lions for a while.?

I know a place where some of the wood from the coast was recycled and used in a beautiful house and shed out near Mudgee.

We live on Marsh road Silverdale when the lowness got out and was shot. I used to start work early and I remember all the cars driving around which was very unusual as it was a sleepy little place. I have another stories where we were showing freind where the loins where as they were locked up in circus cages . When one of the parks owners or worker spotted us . He came over talked to us and invited us in to see all thecats they had there. So we got a private tour of the place just after the lowness got out.

Despite loving thrilling rides Scooby doo spooky coaster is hands down my favourite.

There is also nothing about the rides colours that says flight of the wicked witch. Green and black are her colours.

I was at dreamworld 2 days ago. potentially even on the same day. The theming of Jungle rush and its area, is what theme parks in Australia need, proper themeing and a cohesive look for dedicated sectors. Its great.

I used to repair the mini bikes for Bullins Wallacia when I worked at Ian Palmer motorcycles in the 80s. Honda Z50s and ATC 70 trikes. Used to love test riding the trikes in the old Penrith railway station gravel car park! Those were the days!

Wow your ride seemed to have WAY fewer spins and turns than last time I tried it lmao. My family tried it with different weight distributions and that's probably the reason lol

Movieworld definitely isn’t like it used to be. As a kid back in the 90’s visiting movieworld was the best ever. I miss the looney tunes ride. Police academy, gremlins ride ect. All the rides were always operating when I visited back then. Now days whenever I head to QLD. So many rides are closed. Especially Wild West ride.
