    This is a really good video and you describe what you are about to do well. I've never done anything like this before and It would have helped "me" if you explained it as you did it instead of speeding through how to remove parts and get the new fender to fit properly. Great video though! God Bless you too brother.

    Hey - One more tip for Your coworker. When trying to attach that crazy edge rubber strip. I sat down with painters tape and pressed the strip in place and taped it about every 2 inches. After its all on just put it to the fender, install bolts, and razor blade the tape off the visible side !! If You are very careful some of the tape pieces will just pull out. It saved Hours of frustration after the idea popped up . Good luck to You guys and Thanks again.

    I just finished a grueling install of the Wackers on My 2014 FJ. Thanks to You I had some good clues how to do it. Toyota had changed a few things on the body works so the removal and install were Not exactly as Yours was nor the instructions say. Anyway it's all done. Cool - Thanks.

    • @DYNABIKE1
      @DYNABIKE1 6 років тому

      Some of the parts on Yours that were bolted are now clips and more clips are used in the wheel wells. I think it was the front where there are two big holes with clips and the Bushwackers are Not drilled for all the holes in the FJ itself. When You pull the rear panel @ the bumper I found one clip and one bold where those two holes in the OEM flare attaches. The new flares on the rear cover way more then just following the metal down where You showed cutting it. If You made a mistake and cut too far forward at that point it would be no problem because the flare covers almost up to the read door seam. Does this help ? More questions ?

    I bought flares before I bought my tires n rims, thinking the tires will be outside the fender to a point the flares would cover them. Well, put the tires on and they are all of maybe 2 inches out. So I'm thinking of selling the flares. They are still in box, everything included. If anyone is interested in buying such and want a good deal, hit me up.

    Hey, thanks for the great video and step-by-step. Unfortunately, I didn't see this until AFTER installing mine. The other unfortunate part is that I went w/ the off-brand ones off Amazon (just like you recommended not to). I can 100% guarantee that off-brand non-Bushwhacker fender flares will not fit properly. The main problem areas I have encountered were at the front end of the front fenders and the front ends of the back fenders. I had to use a heat gun to bend the plastic and a Dremel to shave off a little plastic so that it would fit into place. Also, forget about the weather stripping on these knock-off brands. They don't stick at all to the fender and I had to use some contact cement just to get them to stay for installation. Overall, after my frustration and modifying - the fenders are finally installed and only w/ 2 gaps that I'm going to have to live with. BTW, the knock-off brands are using Bushwhacker's instructions. They don't even bother trying to hide the fact they are ripping them off Bushwhacker.

    Can you tell how much farther they stick out then the factory flares? I know they say 1.5" beyond the body, I'm wanting to compare them to the original flares since I don't know what spot on the body they're comparing to.

    How do you like the Trail Master Wheels? Easy to clean?
    Also if you hold a level off the edge of the new fender flares and measure how far the tires stick out from the well. Do they go past the flares? .5" in 1" in ? Thinking about getting the same rims and tires for mine. Curious for your review :)

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  7 років тому +2

      They don't go out past the new flares. The documentation on the bushwacker flares said the new flares stick out 1.5 inches from the body. The rear wheels are 1/2 inch inside the flare, and the front wheels are an inch inside the flare. They don't stick out beyond the flare and they don't look like they are tucked in too far with them being only an inch inside on the front.

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  7 років тому +2

      Oh, and I haven't had to clean the trailmaster wheels yet. I haven't been offroading with them on the FJ yet since they've only been on a few weeks, so I haven't even had to take a hose to them yet. I do love the look of them though. And for cleaning I have one of those wheel brushes with the spinning tip that spins based on water pressure, so it is easy to clean most types of wheels quickly.
