The thing is, most things we eat today were totally nonexistent only a couple of centuries ago. The raw or roasted beans are bitter! If you roast them to eat you have to be careful... they are insanely delicious but full of caffeine and you can get caffeine poisoning... which is no fun, from experience!
T Neiweem oh wow! You’re welcome! My brain is crowded with useless info I can sometimes apply to stuff lol! Hope you get to try raw cocoa one day... it’s heavenly 🙂
I tried cacao in the Philippines, and I told everyone that the pulp tasted like sucking on a mangosteen jolly rancher. It’s not fleshy like mangosteen segments but it definitely looks like it at first.
I went to an international market today and saw the last cocoa pod on the stall. I wanted to experience it, so I snatched it! It was $5.99! A chance to try a rare fruit in the American market! Well... Rare for me at least. Now to learn how to roast the seeds, so I don't waste them.
Only wonder if you let the beans dry out and grind them along side coffee beans. Would that be one amazing cup of coffee! @emmymadeinjapan Not a bad idea to try that. Great content as well!
Thrift Hunt3r we do it in Trinidad. we grind it after roasting and shelling and mix with spices (cinnomon ,nutmeg and bayleaves) and mold it into balls traditionally.when it sets we grate it into hot sweetened milk . we call it cocoa tea.
Huh? It’s a plant. If she wanted to she could obtain a sample of pretty much any plant she’d like. Its not like she has enough to make any valuable amount of chocolate... What you’re missing in your formula for “difficulty to obtain” is the variable of rarity. These things are grown by the dozen on a tree. Then 1000s are collected and processed by each plant daily. And there are many many many cacao farms, due to what you said earlier. Demand. But supply is high. So it’s not very tough to obtain.
She’s done taste test videos of a lot of different fruits that many would consider exotic or hard to obtain. She spares no expense when it comes to a lot of her fruit tasting videos
I just googled them and found multiple affordable sources to purchase them. Most are under $30 for a single pod. Seems pretty easy to find and affordable to me. :D
I bought one recently with the intention of attempting chocolate for fun. The fruit itself is so tasty that nope, just gonna chow the fruit! Maybe it wasnt fully ripe or something but it tastes like lychee fruit to me, none of that astringency
The taste you described sounds like you got an old fruit. I've tasted the fruits from the Philippines to Dominican Republic, and none of them taste like "raid" bug spray. Some taste like lychee fruit, others actually taste like banana. It varies depending on where you are getting your fruits from.
I love that you described the flavors and textures as I have yet to dissect and taste my very own cacao pod! And it just dawned on me- I’ve been watching your channel for years, but you remind me of Jennifer Garner! You look and sound like her. Love it. I just figured it out

I have always thought a cocoa pod would be bitter Im going to try one now Emmy
The roasted beans are bitter, but oh so good.
The raw or roasted beans are bitter! If you roast them to eat you have to be careful... they are insanely delicious but full of caffeine and you can get caffeine poisoning... which is no fun, from experience!
@@patmccrutch3927 been clicking so many comments to see qll your useful information. Thanks for all the info!!
T Neiweem oh wow! You’re welcome! My brain is crowded with useless info I can sometimes apply to stuff lol! Hope you get to try raw cocoa one day... it’s heavenly 🙂
@@patmccrutch3927 it is on my food bucket list!

Emmy: Cocoa Pod
*Banana has left the chat*
I didn't know chocolate was considered a fruit. Looks like chocolate is healthy after all. Lol XD
the third eye *adds 10000g of sugar*
So healthy 😂😂
@@chrisheffern1782 lol
Emily Heffern not everyone adds sugar to chocolate, have you ever ate Organic Dark chocolate, no sugar added
Kim White I have ! Not a fan.. Extremely bitter to my taste 😂
It is before milk and sugar are added
DID YOU KNOW? CACAO is rich in essential nutrients such as organic enzymes that can decrease heart ailments?
They say that about everything these days 😂
Did you know COCAINE is AWESOME?
As opposed to inorganic enzymes? 🤔
DID YOU KNOW? 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance by switching to Geico

Crip bull? Nah Cuh Cow
Is the fruit part like mangosteen? That's what I'm imagining from the description. It sounds yummy.
Mmmm! Mangosteen! 😋
its similar but way stickier and the flavors a bit more mild
I tried cacao in the Philippines, and I told everyone that the pulp tasted like sucking on a mangosteen jolly rancher. It’s not fleshy like mangosteen segments but it definitely looks like it at first.
next can you show how to make cocaine
? Why don't you make a video on how to not want to make cocaine. Here's to hoping.
@@NatureSouldierSC thanks for your input, ive decided to make cocaine. cheers
I just sent her my meth recipe! Hope she likes it! Heres to hoping!

Chocolate Theo bromine means food of the gods
@@daneillealfred2828 That sounds absolutely wonderful!
Thrift Hunt3r Try Crio Bru- it’s cocoa beans you brew like coffee! You can get it on Amazon.
I'm surprised you were able to obtain that pod, they are very highly sought after and expensive commodities.
I don’t like chocolate like that, but the fruit is the best
Who else eating a cocoa bean rn
It seems that people discover more and more interesting things about the creation and ourselves..
You have a flat face
I bought one recently with the intention of attempting chocolate for fun. The fruit itself is so tasty that nope, just gonna chow the fruit! Maybe it wasnt fully ripe or something but it tastes like lychee fruit to me, none of that astringency
You can tell how hot a woman is in bed by how she approaches food.
It looks like a larva
This video is great. I want to buy one but they are expensive!!
Love it. I just figured it out
I was today years old when I learned cocoa is white. Looks weird.
If Emmy is eating it, then I will. I’ll try anything once!!
