He recommends cocoa which is fine but he should be more specific. He definitely doesn’t mean Nesquick. Which everybody knows. The cocoa the Kuna drink is made from raw cacao which should taste just awful to most of us. Most chocolate and cocoa products out there are made from alkali-processed roasted cacao beans which are full of arcylamide.
"Cocoa" is not the same as "cacao" which is probably what he's trying to say. And there is really no evidence, based on what he's saying, that it's the cacao which is responsible for the good health of these native people ... there are so many other factors that could be at play. And ... it's still true that cacao has a lot of beneficial properties, so let's enjoy it whenever we can! (Also, by the way, "ischemic heart disease" is NOT the same as a heart attack.)
It also helps with recovery from physical exertion. I've started drinking one cup a day comprised of about 3/4 tsp cocoa, hot water, honey and condensed milk. The milk is more than just like coffee creamer - maybe three times as much. But you don't need milk at all. It satisfies any wanting something sweet. For kids who are drinking sodas, this is a good alternative if it's used with honey or real maple syrup, or other sweeteners. Just no sugar. Not necessary.
It doesn’t cancel them, exactly, but it isn’t the way to maximize benefits. It’s not like the sugar makes the flavanols ineffective in the body, so it can’t be said to cancel their benefits. Avoiding sugar with it is ideal, though

I don't understand this analysis. If only few of the Kuna (the elite) were permitted to drink cocoa, then how can the health benefits be attributable to this drink?
The pharma industry doesn't like that
139 people work for big pharma
I have a teaspoon of cocoa every morning but it is not bitter.
There was a study done on Hershey’s cocoa powder that stated the way they processed it let it keep all of the nutrients of cacao, very interesting.
If I find the article that did that study I’ll link it.
please do so!!!
@@anareginacoronado1147 Does dark chocolate offers the , same benefits as eating cocao?
@@rottweiler910 I don't know to be honest, I wouldn't think so since dark chocolate has another procedure but apparently there's a study that proves so I just don't know where to find it, if it had the same benefits or similar it would be awesome, but I don't think so, at least not in the ones that have sugar.
I would be skeptical of a paper funded by the manufacturer on its own product
@@skad2485 yeah ,well these are marketing strategies funded by owners of companies , I've been reading an article related to amount of cadmium added in these dark chocolate ,which in excess can be really bad for brain .
What about their environment and a stress-free environment no traffic no cars no bosses no 9 to 5 jobs pure oxygen from the trees and etc. plus cacao now you have a healthy environment are you leaving out a lot of elements but yes cacao has these benefits but you have to keep everything else into consideration
Causes horrendous gas
I only partially listened to this. I'm now going to eat more chocolate.
Drink hot cocoa instead, with no sugar.
Also with no milk
Where do I get dirt cheap cocoa? The one in my grocery store isn't.
