1:47 it’s probably because the iPhone XS and XS Max still support 3D Touch, and they also support the latest iOS version - hence why the option for 3D Touch is still there.
Yeah that’s what I was gonna say since I know there’s at least two devices that can use 3D Touch more last year but possibly with the release of iOS 18 with the removal (probably) of the XR and older device support they might remove the placeholder in settings
I use 3D Touch everyday, when I eventually upgrade from my iPhone 7 that is something I will miss. While I'd rather have Haptic Touch then nothing at all, it is still slower than 3D Touch, and even then there are still things you can't even do without it. Such as holding down on the left side of the screen to go to the app switcher. I actually use 3D Touch on the UA-cam app a lot, to press and hold to quickly open the subscriptions tab or to search. I can go on and on like how I use it to quickly open wifi or bluetooth setting via the settings app but I'll stop here. The return of 3D Touch would be so amazing in my opinion.
They recently updated the Haptic Touch settings with a faster option, and now it finally feels like it opens at the same speed as the old 3D Touch. Just something to look into when you eventually upgrade, you’ll probably notice the default speed is super slow.
@@hunterjay8331hey thanks for that, never had an iphone with 3d touch but im currently on a 15 pro and i want to get the most out of it, awesome that you reminded me of that feature!! fast setting is perfect for me
You’re still using 7? Woah. I had 50% battery health on my 6s plus four years ago. How do you keep going? Did you get a new battery? And also the iPhones get slow and laggy after about 4 or 5 years, making them really annoying to use. At least that was my experience. How did you dodge that? Hell, my brand new XR was already at 74 after 4 years. And it would freeze up for tens of seconds at least once a day. That’s the reason I lately upgraded. I would love to not do that though, because I like to stick with devices a long time. If they start to actively work against me though, that’s the time to say farewell. Give me your eternal youth secret 😀
Even though i am on the Android side, I bought a horribly cracked iPhone 6s for 3€ and i loved 3D touch. It's sad to see how we lose features every generation
I‘m still using 3d touch on my iphone xs, but it‘s rarely useful anymore. The only nice 3d things are on the lockscreen, where I can toggle the flashlight and access the camera
Yeah, they actively removed the usefulness of it in later iOS versions. Only a few useful things remain such as the force sensitive keyboard (for selecting text etc). I miss it since I moved to the 15 Pro Max
3D Touch was awesome. I remember the Samsung's Galaxy S4 having the hover feature. It worked on most of the 3rd party apps too like Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and a few more. You would just hover the finger over an item and it would show it on full screen. I also miss the Android Beam which lives now under the Nearby Share. Even the S8 and a few others had a pressure home button.
samsung should steal 3d touch, make pressing harder the same as holding, I loved 3d touch because it's faster. also I remember adobe draw having pressure sensitivity
These days many phones actually contain internal barometers (basically an internal pressure sensor) thus phone manufacturers could actually really easily turn on 3d touch with software by just reading out the pressure inside the phone (the harder you push on the screen the higher the internal pressure will become) This makes the feature super cheap to impliment, you don't need super expensive and complex display layers...
A barometer will measure air pressure, not screen pressure. If the phone was a completely sealed device that could be a thing but its not perfectly sealed
I'm an Android guy, but imo the loss of touch id was more of a let down then 3d touch. If apple were to make iPhones with an in display fingerprint sensor, that would be a bigger addition imo.
Been mostly on Android for years with an iPhone SE here and there, and am currently runnin a Pixel 8 (good phone btw). However, my perfect phone would be an iPhone Pro in a Mini body with 3D touch and touch ID on the back (apple logo) or on the power button like the iPad Pro. That would be everything
3D Touchy is one of the best features on a device ever and I can't look at an iPhone without thinking of it. Since Apple isn't bringing it back some Android users def should.
I’ve been saying this since they fully discontinued it with the 11 line. It was so useful and I used it all the time. But I think one thing what worked against it was most people didn’t know it was there. It was an invisible feature. People use features they can see. You couldn’t see 3D Touch unless you were using it. I forever miss 3D Touch. From what I hear it’s been really handicapped as iOS updates progressed.
for me 3D touch doesn’t really that useful for me since i bearly even use it on my iphone 7 plus, i don’t know why but i just don’t use it that often since it not really that practical for me and sometimes a bit annoying since if im not aware of my phone i could accidentally switched tab out of nowhere while im doing my stuff. But i still like to keep it on for some reason even tho i never utilize it to it full potential. Still if apple bring it back to newer devices than that will be cool and if i ever upgraded my phone, 3D touch would be very useful for iphone without a home button
In the video you never demonstrate my favorite feature of 3D Touch. That’s backing out of a preview or touch. When you release pressure it backs out of it. Now without it if you preview a photo to make it bigger you have to tap somewhere else to get the preview to go away. With 3D Touch you could medium press a photo to see it bigger and then let go and it would put the photo back with the rest. If you medium pressed and then hard pressed it would open the photo full screen. I noticed in the video you open everything you tapped on which makes sense but from a visual standpoint try backing out of a touch on the next 3D Touch video you make. It looks really impressive and shows how sensitive the display is and how useful it is to quickly preview things that now takes longer and more taps on the new phones. I’d pay $2000 for a new iPhone if it had 3D Touch again.
I dont think it should ever return. It was a non intuitive technology that basically no one used aside from geeky people and that never took off. I always knew it was there and just used it to read some conversations without the other person getting the blue WhatsApp tick (like the read in iMessage). It takes up a lot of space inside the device, makes the device heavier and doesnt add that much to the user experience. For me its a clear nope. Just take a look at the iPhone XS battery life vs the iPhone 11 Pro battery. Most of the difference was due to the much bigger battery they were able to fit inside the new phones
TB to when apple only supported 3D Touch on newer models 6s - Newer and claimed a software feature was due to hardware limitations meanwhile there was a jailbreak tweak on cydia which ran just as smoothly on older devices than newer lmfao there BS continues to this day
You know what’s heavy? Every iPhone pro since the iPhone 13 Pro. I was shocked when I upgraded from iPhone 12 Pro Max to an iPhone 13 Pro Max in 2021 by how heavy it was. They’re all super heavy now. The best iPhone I ever had was the iPhone 7 Plus
It sucks that when I upgraded from my 7 and 8 Plus (which I both still use) I went to my 12's flat, unresponsive display. Even switching apps feels better for me when I press into the 3D Touch display and push away the current view to reveal the old one instead of just sliding the next most recent app into place. The haptic I think is what makes a particular difference.
Some people don’t realize how useful this thing could be, touch and hold is quick, you can peek at notification without opening the app, if you’re on iPhone X’s lock screen you won’t accidentally touch and hold the flashlight or camera.. and here’s might be a cool concept, if you’re playing racing games, ex: the gas pedal can be pressed depending on pressure you apply.. etc..
yooo i loved 3D touch as you said on social media to peak and mostly dont pop pics or links in safari, tweets to read them quickly full etc.. but why did I little know and YET found out about that App Switcher "gesture".. damn... loved it specially on the 7 with that special Home Button and X. Well the X was the best iPhone yet in silver especially no other takes allowed! :D
i remember with my 6s i would always use the 3d touch side feature where i could switch apps and stuff without the home button. it was like gestures before they got rid of the home button. i miss it so much i loved peeking and popping emails and texts and stuff. i was able to use my phone so much faster with it
iphone 7 is the prettiest iphone that apple every made, like the black and the silver is just the best colors ever, i remember when it came out it was my dream to have one, today i have a SE 2020 cause i love the form factor of the 4.7 inchs screen
As nice as 3d touch is I think it was good to remove it for extra battery space, that was the main way they were able to improve the battery life by so much from the xs to 11 pro.
again did not show how convenient it is to mark reminders on the lock screen and open preview notifications. But switching between applications has never been super convenient, now it’s much better with a gesture
I honestly would love for it to come back the more I think about it and see your videos on it makes me miss it my mom had a 6s about when it came out and it was pretty cool Haptic Touch is just not the same and for that reason I barely use it
i loved to peak on twitter etc just pics and tweets to read them without the need of fully open them or to see if the website peaking in is offering what i searched on google etc it was a cool feature for some parts tbh and i miss those seeing this video..

The iPhone XS and XS Max have 3-D touch and also support iOS 17, so that's probably why it still says 3D Touch.
The haptic engine in 7 is good. It feels really nice when doing 3D touch and using the nonmechanical home button.
It’s because it’s too much for Apple to maintain because the mechanism for it took up too much of the phone’s interior.
The only time I used it on my iPhone 7 was for the app switcher which was quick
Is the news true about downgrade 64bit iPhone??🙏♥️🙂
I think haptic touch is probably 3D Touch 2.0 if it worked like it
sorry but id rather have a bigger battery than 3D touch

i miss it so much i loved it when i got my 6s and i was so annoyed when they removed it in iphones after the xs

I'm an Android guy, but imo the loss of touch id was more of a let down then 3d touch. If apple were to make iPhones with an in display fingerprint sensor, that would be a bigger addition imo.
