I hope this will be a bigger story in the future and that apple changes it.
When opening apps, iPhone Pros run at 120Hz, but when scrolling through content feeds, they drop to 80Hz. The transition between these refresh rates can cause a noticeable difference and even some screen tearing. Most of our interactions with the phone is scrolling, which is only at 80Hz. This is probably done to save battery, but Apple should give users the option to choose. For example, adding a toggle to enable 120Hz across the entire system would be a good solution.
These apple sheep justifying 80 hertz is crazy. Y'all would buy a V8 and would be ok with only being allowed to use 6 cylinders for "longevity" or "you cant tell a difference" "who needs that anyways" 💀
It's crazy! If you're paying for 120Hz, you are assuming all screen activity is running at 120Hz, only to be getting 80Hz! ProMotion is one of the big selling points for going Pro! How many would go pro if it meant just 80Hz instead of 60Hz!?

I’m tired of poor QC.. no one takes the blame. Tired of returns. Tired of going to stores only to see an inferior product that is in no way worth its msrp.
This is just ProMotion, they demonstrated the variable refresh rate of the LTPO display. It changes refresh rate as needed during animations so that the image always looks smooth while using less frames, and therefore less battery. It can even drop to 1hz if you're just reading an article or a static image. It will definitely run at 120fps on games and whatnot. Also, I find it difficult to believe people are genuinely having any difficulty using iPhones for their lower refresh rate.
