  • We review the Shark Stratos AZ3002. Tests are performed on carpet, hard floors, and hair. Comparisons are made to a host of other upright vacuum cleaners. See the Stratos at Shark: sharkclean.sjv.io/DV7Drd or on Amazon: amzn.to/3WvVFWG
See the written Stratos review: vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/Sh...
We show and describe what is in the box when you get your Shark Stratos - model AZ3002. We then walk through the three tools that are provided in detail. We also describe how the Stratos pet power tool is not a motorized tool but that is run by vacuum suction.
We were a little disappointed that the Stratos tools attach using compression fit - meaning they do not click into place securely. We often find that this approach leads to the tools being put on too loosely or too tightly. Also, we show that two tools can be stored on-board the vacuum. Unfortunately the pet power tool does not fit easily on the vacuum - but the dusting brush and crevice tool do.
We feel that the controls on the Stratos are intuitive and easy to use. We walk through the controls on the handle including the floor settings. Note: in all floor setting the brushrolls on this vacuum will continue to spin - they are just noticeably slower in hard floor mode.
We also show the powered lift-away release button, the dust canister release button, the wand release tab, the handle release tab, and the hose release button. We highlight the advantages of Shark’s lift away feature and we show how it can be used with tools. We also compare powered lift-away to non-powered lift-away (the Stratos has powered lift away). We show this using the Shark Stratos and the Shark NV360.
We investigate the cleaner head - both top and underside. You can see the DuoClean Technology which consists of two brushrolls. A soft brushroll is on the front of the cleaner head and, in the case of the Stratos, a combination fin/bristle brushroll is in the middle of the cleaner head. We also show how the soft brushroll can be easily removed for cleaning.
Also, installed in the cleaner head is the odor neutralizer cartridge. We show how to install it, how to remove it, how to change the cartridge and how to set the intensity. In addition, we discuss what it is like to use this feature.
The vacuum has two pre-motor filters and one post motor filter and we show how to access, remove, and replace all of them. While we cannot test it, Shark has indicated that the Stratos has a sealed system which means that no unfiltered air leaks from the vacuum. All the air entering the machine gets filtered before being exhausted back into the room.
The dust canister on the Stratos is large enough that you will not find yourself having to empty it all the time. The Shark Vertex canister is rather narrow and it has a tendency to get hair and dust bunnies stuck in it, but Shark made improvements with the Stratos. They call the dust canister an “Anti-Wrap Dust Cup”. It is designed so that the debris falls out and you shouldn’t have to put your hand inside to pull out stuck-in debris.
We performed a noise level test and found that the Stratos is fairly loud. It
turned out it was the loudest upright we’ve tested to date.
We also weighed the Stratos and it came in at 16.4 lbs. This isn’t too heavy but it’s also not lightweight - although it is a little lighter than the Vertex which we weighed at 16.7 lbs.
Movement on low pile carpet is reasonable - but you can feel the vacuum weight and the spinning brushroll fight you little on the pull-back. Movement on hard flooring is easier but still requires some muscle. We also tested movement on 1 inch deep pile carpet and while everything worked ok, movement was an effort.
We undertook a host of cleaning tests. Carpet, Hard Floor, Hair, Edge. The Stratos performed good to very good in all of them. We also tested the power tool.

I'd like to see reviews with dirt, dust, & hair that's been on the carpet for awhile and really deep in the carpet fibers (not stuff that you just put there). That's honestly a testament to how good a vacuum is.

is the brush head on the unit driven by an electric motor or does suction from the machine drive it as with the smaller brush head?

I have the shark stratos and the bissell multiclean allergen lift off. The shark Stratos has superior power, but it feels like it's constructed from extremely cheap materials. The bissell has less power then the shark, but the bissell has enough power to still get the job done effectively. Also, the bissell feels like it's well constructed and built with superior materials. And the bissell is only half the price, and has a much longer hose for reach.

If you want Cordless, Try the Hoover Onepwr Evolve Vacuum. It uses a universal removable battery that works on all there Cordless Vacuums.

I have damaged my walls and bruised my legs with this vacuum. The suction is SO strong that it repeatedly tips over when you are using it. I got it for the wide variety of attachments, however all of them together don't do the job of the basic brush that came with my cheap vacuum I got when I first got married. The hose is entirely too stiff to use with one hand, however you are forced to use only one hand because you have to either stabilize the vacuum or carry the canister because neither will stand on their own while in use. As soon as suction is created, it flips over like it's playing unalive. I'm sick that I paid half a grand for a machine that I have to fight every time I want it to do its job.

Not fair, my country don't have this upright vacuum cleaner. The part where you clean the tile floors, perfect for my Singapore apartment. I have mostly hard floors and a few low pile rugs. It is carpet tiles, another kind of low pile carpet. My hotel have that kind of carpets in its offices. We only have cordless stick vacuum, that drain its battery very fast. Or even a corded cylinder vacuum that cannot cleans tile floors properly cos it is a suction only cleaner. So I need those corded stick or upright cleaners with a rotating brushroll on its floor head. Why don't have that Shark upright vacuum in Singapore for domestic use for home use. Not fair. Singapore really sucks

I tell you what both Dyson and shark has greatly gone downhill. Give me a sebo any day. Also I can't stand how short the hoses on either a Dyson or shark are and that air driven nozzle is a joke. I don't know why shark moved away from their miniature power nozzles but it's just another example of how cheap they've gotten. That's why I will never own another shark ever again or Dyson either. Plus I don't know if anybody else has noticed this but both Dyson and sharks customer service has greatly gone downhill as well. I had to order a replacement part for one of my Sharp vacuums that I did have in the past and they tell me it was no longer something that was covered as a replacement part that I had to buy the part and I was like that's not going to happen I said I still have a 7-year warranty on this machine and I said you will replace the part or said I will contact consumer affairs Better Business Bureau and whomever else I need to contact. So after a bunch of going back and forth which should have never taken place they finally sent the part out to me. So that's another reason why I will never go back to these worthless manufacturers

@ThePrime206 EU models have low power motors. The US one still keeps the 1000w vac motors, and the Felix sends the heat up to the user. I hated that vac for that reason. That and by the time the bag was not even half full, it lost a lot of suction.

@@ThePrime206 I opened it up completely. Nothing wrong with it at all. In any case, instead of a Felix I'm either going G1 or 300 Mechanical instead which won't have that issue to begin with. I'm also buying canisters from both Sebo and Miele. The Miele C1 with just a suction powerhead cleans better than my POS Shark Duoclean ever did and with half the energy needed to run it. Plus, no chunky body and no needing to use as a pretend canister to get underneath stuff.
