After watching your video last night went and got the shark rotator, the amount of pet hair it pulled up was insane, I thought my apartment was pretty clean but the shark was getting things my stick vacuum wasn’t, great video and great recommendation!
Only problem is, I understand Sharks are designed NOT to be able to be repaired, even by a pro. They also don't supply replacement parts like belts and hoses.
A lot of people have commented this. I just reviewed the Kenmore 600 series, which should not have these issues: ua-cam.com/video/t7RdDFkHz_s/v-deo.html
My duo clean apex head broke almost as soon as I purchased the vacuum. I had to buy specialty tools to fix it myself. Then the clips that keep the brush roll lid in place broke less than 6 months after purchase and the vacuum is designed not work if the clips are not in place, the vacuum lights blink and the rolls won't spin. I had to rig the vacuum head to work because the head is designed to be replaced, not fixed. It's $100 to replace the head. The vacuum is not made to last, and at it's price point it should. I finally threw it out and purchased a $50 vacuum to use in the interim while I research a more expensive vacuum. The $50 vacuum has now outlasted the length of time I had my apex duo clean without breaking and has been more trouble free and cleaned well enough for me to wonder if I actually need an expensive vacuum.
Just a tip, Amazon, Woot, and Walmart tend to sell refurbished vauums as well. Obviously a harder buy since the vacuum has to be in stock, but you can get many vacuums there for typically 40% or more percent off MSRP for the new prices. It mostly depends on what kind of hair the household has. Like the corded Shark AZ1810 Vertex (which is the modern Apex) is $147.95 there. Crazy deal to beat.
Be careful with the refurbished vacuums on Amazon because they usually come from third party sellers that do not have the same return policy as Amazon. I had a bad experience trying to return a refurbished vacuum to Amazon. I thought I purchased it from Amazon warehouse, but it was a third party seller. The vacuum did not work on arrival, and when the seller received the return they claimed I had damaged the vacuum and left hair in it(not true). The seller only offered a partial refund. I had to argue back and forth with the seller and get Amazon's involvement. It was months before I was fully refunded, and it was by Amazon not the seller. The seller had many bad reviews that contained the same type of feedback as my experience, but they are still selling on Amazon.
I purchased the Shark (AZ3002) Stratos Upright Vacuum with DuoClean PowerFins for our home with all solid surfaces flooring and it really is amazing! I will say we got it on sale (for $399) about 2 months ago and I understand that is not exactly inexpensive, but it has been worth every darn penny so far. If anyone out there is looking at an upright vacuum for mainly solid surface flooring the Stratos is definitely one if put on your list to consider. 😊

It needs to be taking apart and cleaned bc it isn’t sucking like it should
When our 25 y.o. Kenmore started screaming in agony we had to put it out of its misery. Enter the Bissell 2252. For $160 it does an amazing job with dog hair and dust.
There are way less than before. Somehow manufacturers sold people on the idea of 'saving money on bags' with bagless vacuums that require way more filter cleaning and replacement.

Most of the ones I've tried with a retractable cord don't seal the canister very well and so dust gets out. They are definitely convenient, but personally, I prefer a sealed canister. You can also consider a canister vac which has a retractable cord, but great sealing like this Kenmore amzn.to/3HM4OUW
Did you guys ever have a problem with a apex because we had ours for about 5 years and it started to lean forward because of the big block of plastic that is supposed to snap into the wand to make it sit. But it was a beast and the only issue we had with it other than that was that we had to cut hair out of the rollers about twice per year. We bought a cordless stratos but I liked the apex more and the stratos keeps getting anything bigger then a piece of hair stuck and above the rollers. The apex is my favorite and I wish they made one that was cordless with a huge battery.
My child has seen this video and wants the Kenmore. Amazon has bad reviews on it. Do you know how the repair/ return policy is for it. They pretende to sell extended warranty and at the checkout it is not there at the end.

We have not tried the Soniclean yet. I just updated the Kenmore to the Shark Apex. It's very good on shag carpet. However, all the upright vacuums are pretty heavy. The Shark is 15 lbs, the Dyson is 17 lbs.

After about 3 month of normal use (ie: used once per week on 160sqft of carpet along with maybe 20sqft of hardfloor) the maintenance was significant. Also and parts and servicing is a nightmare to find/do. Also, it doesn’t take long before you have a major problem with the vacuum. I’ve had cheaper and same priced units that have lasted for over 16 years whereas the shark motor died after 2 years.

So the problems with uprights is you can't go under tight areas like furniture and beds Ugh! and a canister is expensive for a good one, and II can't afford something expensive right now, plus they are a pain to pull behind you! :(
I've had 2 shark vacuums and both had multiple hose breaks. Right after the 2 year warranty. These tests are great but they don't represent durability.
Pretty good video, but there were not any true high airflow vacuums or bagged vacuums what are WAY better than any of these. My main problem with these are that they need a lot of filter maintenance. Bagged vacuums need bag change about once a month and you are never going to be inhaling the dust. Also bags are just couple dollars a month and filter maintenance is once a year deal.
One major issue, especially with expensive vacuums, is that companies like Shark are worse than smartphone makers in that these manufacturers deliberately design, engineer and sell their vacuum cleaners (and introduce new, redesigned models rapidly) that are increasingly and consistently more difficult to repair (and the manufacturers make increasingly fragile parts that break easier, and they also do not make or stock spare parts) so that cleaner owners will simply go out and buy a new vacuum cleaner regularly. Our family recently got burned on Shark, so no matter how effective the machines are, we will not patronize the company again.
@@vacuumnerdstest the BISSELL SurfaceSense Pet Multi-Surface Vacuum when it comes back in stock! It seems to be the flagship for Bissell’s upright vacuums. I think it got sold out on their website for president’s day.
In all of your videos; you talk about the lights as if they're for using the units at night... You even make sarcastic remarks about the feature as if it's useless. That's not what they're for. The lights cast low level light across the floor so that you can see smaller bits of dust and debris that you may miss otherwise.
Some LEDs work better than others. Personally I don't think most help much in illuminating dust. The Dyson laser head does a great job, but I think these LEDs are mostly not very effective. I'd love to see more manufacturers follow Dyson's lead because they could be a lot better than they are. Just my 2c!
@@vacuumnerds I'm simply saying that the purpose is there. Whether or not they work as good as the dyson doesn't mean that the lights are not for that purpose. They do also provide help with illuminating under couches and beds. My point is, you're making out as if they're a useless gimmick which is not the case at all.
WTF? A comedy skit at best and it's poor. None are repairable. So, be prepared to replace them quite often or not. My Broom has continued to work over the past 20 years! No more vacuums. My Shark is less than 6 months old and has stopped suction. All filters clean, no blockages. Motor works except no suction. Buh Bye Shark!

My shark filter is washable - I’ve had for 6 years and I just clean it and never had to replace it
@@lorae7 My Sharks also have washable filters, but with age they start to leak dust to the motor.
The shark nv752 is my favorite vacuum, but it doesn't last more than 2 yrs so I won't pay more than $225 for it.
I'll be reviewing some other brands this year. Thanks for the feedback.
Never seen good results from the air motored pet tools
The powered ones are definitely better, but air can be ok. If you have a lot of pet hair, go powered
I feel like you could find a better vacuum for the $200-300 range.
We're open to suggestions!
@@vacuumnerdstest the BISSELL SurfaceSense Pet Multi-Surface Vacuum when it comes back in stock! It seems to be the flagship for Bissell’s upright vacuums.
I think it got sold out on their website for president’s day.
@@vacuumnerdstry testing the bissell flagship at $299, the Bisell surface sense pet multi surface vacuum.
Right out the gate “it feels like it may last a few years” is a terrible endorsement for your recommended vac, lol.
I don’t expect many things to last 10 years anymore unless you’re willing to pay top dollar.
i want a model that give me a new id a new life
let me know when you find it!
Kitty stole your sausage
He does that!!
Good content. Terrible jokes. So I guess good content.
Unfortunatley our best writers left to work on Saturday Night Live before they could write a single sketch for us!
If price is not an issue all of these seriously pale to the power and longevity of a Kirby
Also Miele - but those vacs are PREMIUM priced.
@@vacuumnerds the best vacuums can out live humans 🤣
Price is always an issue
I bought a used Kirby and it works better than any other vacuum cleaner I've ever had.
Get a used kirby got mine for 8 dollars
Cats
We love our kitty cats!
Sharks are terrible no cyclonic filtration.
The better Shark's have very effective brushrolls though. That's why I like them.
No bagged uprights? Deal breaker!
Sounds like a good video topic!
Are you guys a couple?
No
Riccar. You meant to say Riccar.
Riccar vaccums are grossly overpriced and only available at a few places. I focus on recommending vacuums people can afford and can easily obtain.
They all also happen to do the worst in design😅
They've been working fine for us
Well, every vacuum is made for a different user. So it makes sense. For me though, I need a kirby
Lol. Long wand.
Shark is a disposable vacuum. I will never buy another. Good luck
The cat paying rent joke got old after the first time you said it
Please hire me a writer! I do this all on my own.
@@vacuumnerds Cat's they really do think we live with them! Ninjakitten is clearly biased.
None of the above
Do you some vacuums you'd like to see in our next test?
Thanks for you comment Paula. We don't test long term reliability, only our initial experience ) or longer if we choose to use the vacuum in our home). Consumers Reports has the resources for long term testing. My understanding is that Shark offers a 5 year warranty. You might reach out to them.
