@@fireflie86 I got mine directly from the Shark site. You can get it cheaper, technically, on the Walmart site or other retailers, but you get more for your money from the Shark site. I feel like it needs the heaviness to weigh it down. The suction is so strong that it literally pulls me fast while vacuuming. My dyson stopped pulling forward and I was literally pushing it so hard to force it to move forward. I replaced my Dyson with this vacuum and it’s awesome! So glad I did!

Thank you very much for your very thorough and informative review of the Shark Vertex vacuum. I just ordered this vacuum yesterday and can't wait to use it!
Just got this vacuum for my cleaning business! I can’t wait to get it. I was looking for a vacuum that does well in hard floors as well. I own a cheaper shark atm but it does not do well with the hard floors. I really don’t mind the weight of a heavy vaccum, as long as the section is powerful.
This was a great review! Very informative. But it's too bad that you didn't read the owner's manual beforehand! If you did then you would have seen that there is a door on the top of the dirt bin as well as under it. The buttons are at the front of the dust bin handle. One on each side of it. So because of that handy feature you don't actually have to reach up into the dirt bin and pull out the stuff that gets stuck. Just push the buttons in and open the top and dump it all out.
Very glad to have come across your teriffic review. This vacuum has shot to the top of my list of contenders! Great job in comparing and great overall presentation. New Sub, thank you very much!
Your video is very informative but the conclusion just falls short. The Vertex is worthy of my consideration as oppose to what? As the VacuumAdvisor I was expecting your summary to cover what was better or comparable at the units price point. Thank you for reviewing this product. It makes it easier when going out to make a few hundred dollar purchase.
Has anyone found a way to either extend the hose on this Vertex model? I notice that when you are using the tools, if you need to set down the canister, it will fall over because the hose is too short. Any suggestions on how to work around this will make me go from 95% satisfaction to 100%. Another option that would be nice is a canister rolling holder so that you don't have to hold the canister while vacuuming - it would just roll along behind you. Something like you would see on a Shark traditional canister vacuum. Thanks!
I'd like to mention @ 19:29 the shark apex will clean the hair off the roller with time. If the vacuum kept running im sure there would be less hair on the roller since the combs right above would clear them off.
Wow! I just finally got all of my questions answered. I want to stop watching this video, like the other but I just couldn't he's so informative and it's hard to get my whole attention 😅🙃😊
Yeah. I just measured it and got about 5 feet of reach (to end of handle) before the unit starts to tip. I have noticed that many lift-away machines have a shortish hose. I suppose the hose may stretch out a bit with time - our vacuum is fairly new - but probably not a large amount.
SERIOUSLY HELP ME!! Well I've used mine 1x, and I'm wondering why I'm the only one having difficulty with it. There are too many situations where i need to hold the wand with 2 hands as I go along baseboards and this is especially true with all the intense suction but I cannot hold on to the wand with 2 hands and also hold the canister. If I leave the canister connected so I can hold the wand with 2 hands then (and I'm not exaggerating!) Every time I move even 3 inches, the entire machine completely topples over. I didnt notice it had toppled at first, and to my chagrin, i had been dragging that behind me on its side!! I only have a 600 Sq ft apartment and I've never been so exhausted and angry wishing I'd never bought the contraption! All I could think is how grateful I am that I don't have a long flight of stairs! How do people maneuver stairs if they are halfway up the flight, cannister in one hand, hose in the other hand with the base down on the floor? I mean if you're balancing yourself and powerbrushing a step, how is the rest of the machine 6 steps below maintaining stability? Also, it did pick up deep ground in dirt and dust (probably got some of the dust in the apartment below mine too 😂), the carpet had zero lines or markings that I had vacuumed. Ya know what I'm talking about right? The satisfaction you get from seeing the freshly vacuumed paths going in different directions on your floor... am I just doing it wrong or are those markings now history for me as a shark owner?

I agree. And be able to open the garage head like the Apex. They should of just put the power fins on the Apex and not change anything else. I still prefer the Apex. But I wonder if the Apex handle piece is usable on the Vertex. They look the same.
Agreed. just received my vertex a few days ago. It will replace my Apex zero M. When I detached the handle I noticed there was no light. I thought to myself...🤔 I swear the Apex had a light on the handle. Looked at the Apex and there's the light. So Disappointed Shark took that out as the light on the handle comes in handy so often. Guess they'll add that back in along with the removable top cover in their next model 😐
Excellent review! I've decided to purchase this model for its powered lift away feature, mighty amperage and sealed hepa system. I was also able to find a more aesthetically appealing variation of the model, thankfully (AZ2000), as I found the rose gold accents on the AZ2002 rather garish. On a separate note, which type of shoes are you wearing (the brown moccasins)? They look immensely comfortable and I'd like to purchase a pair for a loved one. Thanks in advance!

Though I didn't notice it in your review, some of the other videos on this vacuum that I've seen look almost as if the combination of the high suction & double rollers could be very hard on higher pile carpeting. Honestly , I've owned the Apex friend.. and that vacuum ROCKED MY SOCK'S OFF !!! 10/10!!! Talk about suck your almost off your floor. In a great way that clearly is cleaning it big time!! On of my favorite features on the Apex is the little led light on the handle when you detach and use off of the vacuum, like vacuuming off a couch or something, or especially like a darker corner, where dog hair and dust gather galore...! That led light on handle beams down where your pointing it to suck and *BA-BOOM* you can see everything and what your getting/or not getting lol ... It's absolutely brilliant !!!! But the vertex sadly enough, I've read Anyway, does not come with that led light on the handle ...!?!? Dumb. :( Such a great FEATURE!!!! So I'm nervous, just placed order for vertex tonight!!!?! Hope to God it's worth the $450.00 I just dropped on it !!🤞🏻👍🏻☺️
I think it is better if the exhaust air goes down instead of aimed toward you like the duoclean speed. But that pre motor filter is tiny compared to the older Shark Rotator XL I have
Great video brother especially liked the edge of wall test. Curious though how come nobody ever explains what that little flippy brush like thingy is on the bottom of the vertex. What does it do? Why does it switch back-and-forth?
I purchase this vacuum. I already don't like it, because the hose is to tight. Shark sent me a replacement hose that is the same tight hose. I find it very hard to use the lift away attachment because the hose is too tight. Why is there a ring around the hose?
HI there - how high is the floor head? i.e. what is the clearance required for furniture on the roller head? and is it less high than the apex? Thanks.
The cleaner head is about 2.75 inches high but the dust canister is probably your biggest problem in getting further under a low bed. It is 10.5 - 11 inches high.
This vacuum is very heavy. I am 45 years old and I feel this vacuum is so heavy. I like that the brush doesn’t have hair after finished vacuuming. But I don’t like the weight of it.
Why in the world is the Vertex so difficult to pull back towards you? It feels self-propelled when going forwards, to the point that it could almost run away, but pulling it backwards it feels like I'm pulling a boulder and hurts my shoulder and back.
@@Mysterios0 phenomenal! Still amazed what it picks up after only 4-5 days in same spot. Makes me wonder how much stuff I was kicking up into the air with the old vacuum 🤮
I can't believe I just watched a 25 minutes video about a vacuum cleaner. But I'm glad I did, because now I know how to use my Vertex, and I know I made a very good decision in buying it! Thanks for the video, keep up the good work! My vaccum sucks! Real hard! 😁
Are you going to review the cordless model vertex too? And if you do, ask Shark for the additional mini motorized tool. 630FJ140. Unlike the corded vertex, this brush is actually powered
Yeah - its been a while. Got kinda busy. I have just finished a written review on my site for the Shark Vertex Cordless and will get started on a video review for that unit very soon. Thanks for asking!
Yo if this dude is in an apartment or something, his downstairs neighbors probably think he's Monk or something haha. Great video though, very thorough and informative.
Vertex is the shit, an all around vacuum cleaner, one cool feature is the handle will plug directly into the cleaner head if u wana vacuum ur steps without having the long tube attached, only thing i dont like is the tool caddy sucks cause i constantly lose my turbo cleaning off of the vac
Mine sucked up a toy mouse and I can’t get the top off I know how to get the blue roller off but it’s up in the top of it. Other ones there is two buttons to relieve it but I can’t find them on the vertex. Any help?
This is exactly what I meant. Many times I'd get a sock stuck in the brush head and be able to take off the top of the Apex and remove. Now its totally impossible if something gets stuck way inside the brush head. Horrible design. Apex is way better still.
You can disconnect the hose from the base of the power head and you might be able to reach in wth a pair of needle nosed pliers. If you look at your owner's manual it will explain how to open that area for clearing out clogs. It's that really short section of hose that curves upwards.
$280 at Bed Bath Beyond, with 20% off coupon. I really liked your unbiased review rather than that other channel that's obviously getting paid by Shark.
literally every vacuum ever made has a "compression fit system" for hose attachements. I stopped watching this review and gvae it a thumbs down after that dumb line.
noise is due to the powerful suction (like an engine). If it was quieter, it would suction less. to explain, an electric motor spins a fan or turbine that causes negative pressure out of an exhaust (which produces suction from the intake or the entry of the vacuum cleaner). does this make sense? powerful engines, like cars or airplanes, are louder. lower wattage or low power vacuums are quieter. perhaps you can reduce the noise by reducing the vibration, but it is already a slim device.
Finally! I recently bought this vacuum and have been searching high and low for an in depth video explaining all of its uses
I have the Vertex and its an incredible machine, I have 2 black cats and im telling truly blown away with the pickup power!

They will probably last 3 or more years of normal use before buying a new power head unfortunately you can not change the brush roll
Will it scratch the shine of the laminate floor surface? What's the small brush at the bottom of the main head, next to the brushrolls?
Is the shark Vertex hose the same or improved over the older models?

Hi Scott. I only see two spots on the back of the vacuum for holding tools.
The electric connection used for the wand to floor unit prevents accessories from using a click device system.
Why? They can hook up without any electric pins.
I imagine it's still very possible to have a locking mechanism without it being made of a super-conductive metal.

@VacuumAvisor do you happen to know the power draw (in watts) of this vacuum cleaner?
I need a vacuum that can get a bunch of hippy hair out of deep pile carpet. My mom wants to get me this one for Christmas.
Just got one, highly recommend.
@@RandomAFFF Yes, loving mine so far! Such power!
How come I can't find one anywhere? Is it because I'm in Canada?
Could this Vertex cleaning head be used with an ION p50 wand? Do the parts fit together?
How much is it?
And do you think this is one of the best sharks
my vaccume does not TURN ON
Hi it seems like this product is not available in the EU, has anyone in the EU been able to find/buy this?
Im so happy I have two apex's.
This vacuum is very heavy. I am 45 years old and I feel this vacuum is so heavy. I like that the brush doesn’t have hair after finished vacuuming. But I don’t like the weight of it.
I miss the light on handle . I kept my brown apex cuz of this
Same! I wonder why they got rid of something so simple yet so helpful at the same time.
There’s practically no real world performance advantage with the Vertex, so might as well keep the Apex until a real upgrade comes along.
@@Mysterios0 I suppose that would be true if you don’t care about edge cleaning or hard floors
Why in the world is the Vertex so difficult to pull back towards you? It feels self-propelled when going forwards, to the point that it could almost run away, but pulling it backwards it feels like I'm pulling a boulder and hurts my shoulder and back.
I believe it’s due to the suction, it’s propelling forward by the suction power, and when pulling it back, you are fighting against this.
Excellent video. Thanks!
Bought one Sunday. Who says you can’t vacuum everyday?
How’s it doing now that you’ve had it a while? I just got mine yesterday.
Bought one and after the second use shit doesn’t even turn on. Only when it wants to how do I fix this shits brand new-.-
Why aren’t you uploading any new videos about vacuums
Yeah - its been a while. Got kinda busy. I have just finished a written review on my site for the Shark Vertex Cordless and will get started on a video review for that unit very soon. Thanks for asking!
Thanks! Very informative, the vertex is making its’ way to the top of my list.
Wonderful
Yo if this dude is in an apartment or something, his downstairs neighbors probably think he's Monk or something haha. Great video though, very thorough and informative.
Love that show
Vertex is the shit, an all around vacuum cleaner, one cool feature is the handle will plug directly into the cleaner head if u wana vacuum ur steps without having the long tube attached, only thing i dont like is the tool caddy sucks cause i constantly lose my turbo cleaning off of the vac
I just put my one together and it won’t turn on, I hate it. Brand New!
Take it back to the merchant?
Vacuum Advisor new sub here
Thanks a lot Ed. Good to hear.
I am a subscriber
What we dislike VacuumAdvisor, just kidding good job with your videos.
Its big, not nearly as easy to use as previous sharks, turning is even awkward….very dissatisfied
It looks like that vacuum really sucks 😆
literally every vacuum ever made has a "compression fit system" for hose attachements. I stopped watching this review and gvae it a thumbs down after that dumb line.
I can’t with this horrible audio quality. It’s going to ruin my speakers. Skip.
I'll be honest, 25 minutes is a bit long for a vacuum review for me.
why is it so very noisy; too laud
noise is due to the powerful suction (like an engine). If it was quieter, it would suction less. to explain, an electric motor spins a fan or turbine that causes negative pressure out of an exhaust (which produces suction from the intake or the entry of the vacuum cleaner). does this make sense? powerful engines, like cars or airplanes, are louder. lower wattage or low power vacuums are quieter. perhaps you can reduce the noise by reducing the vibration, but it is already a slim device.
ohhh i cant pull off or push on attachments.. waaaaaa... BORING
