We love making these reviews and providing information to the public. However, buying new vacuum models at retail and spending time testing them gets pricey! If you found this video helpful or if we saved you a few bucks, you can thank us by giving a Super Thanks. It is not necessary, but it is always greatly appreciated!
Great, informative video Matt. I enjoy watching your videos very much. Great job. Hope you are feeling much better. As far as this machine goes, I guess if you enjoy doing a lot of maintenance on your vacuum then this is the machine for you. Dyson owners can appreciate a lot of maintenance too. Thanks for all of the helpful maintenance tips Matt. John in Ohio
This was very informative. I was a bit disappointed with shark because I can’t find a video that explains how to take out the 2nd roller. Can you show us even if it isn’t necessary. Thanks for the video!
Super high quality information, well presented. Great production and very thoughtfully curated. Will be consulting you for all my vacuum needs! Keep up the good work!
I'm getting red light after few second of working with bruches. Only hard floor programme doesn't give me red light so when brushes doesn't spin. They are spinning and working as normal just few second and the red light is coming on and it's stops spinning any idea? Suction power is still verry good.
It sounds like you have an issue with your brushroll or brushroll motor. It is running for a few seconds before it errors out because of too much resistance. A failed bearing or hair wrapped in the end of the brushroll will create enough resistance to falsely trip the belt protection system, which is the red light you are experiencing. Unfortunately, Shark isn't going to see you just the brushroll. Rather, they will sell you the entire nozzle assembly, which depending on model can run from $99-130. Hope that helps.
My Shark stratus roller was jammed with debris and cut off. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned everything, but I can’t get the vacuum to cut back on. Is it trash or is it a reset button somewhere?
I have a stratos upright, the floorhead is not lighting up or brushes rotating suggesting no power. Where should I look, is it a nice switch in the floorhead the likely issue or something to do with continuity of power through the connections in the stalk from the main unit
Check the microswitch at the elbow to the machine. That is a common failure point. If that isn't it, odds are you have a bad circuit board and will need to replace the whole nozzle.
I have this vacuum and idk what is wrong with it the vacuum won’t turn off and yes I mean off I was using it one day just fine and the next time I used it it wouldn’t turn off I unplug it let it sit and then once I plug it in it just turns itself on and won’t turn off it’s like the button dosnt respond
Personally, I wouldn't go with either. I think there are better options in that price point, case-in-point the Riccar R25S. That being said, if I was forced to choose between the two I would go with the Dyson. Main reason being that parts are pretty readily available for Dyson uprights, but impossible to get for Sharks. Hope that helps. Cheers!
The Riccar requires a disposable dust bag. No thanks. My personal verdict is still out on the Shark Stratos, since I just bought one. But it seems to need an excessive amount of cleaning for a machine intended to suck in dirt. Mine mysteriously shut off when I was halfway through vacuuming the livingroom -- only the second time I used it. Shark Tech support, of course, doesn't work on weekends. Exasperating!
It aggravates me that Shark vacuums are the most common examples of people not taking care of their machines. They won’t run flawless forever unless you put some time in to clean it up (I know, strange world, a cleaning appliance that needs cleaning itself). I have one Shark, a Navigator Lift Away that has been THRASHED. It still works, and I’m doing what I can to bring it back to normal. TL;DR: Please. You paid good money for this stuff. Take care of it.
Weirdly, I cannot find the foam and felt filter on Sharks site (unlike to rotate toe sets for no downtime while drying). Is it the same filter as the Vertex or Apex?
Unfortunately they are different filters. Maybe give customer service a call? They may have them in the pipeline and haven't added them to the site. Hope that helps!
Can't believe they have not allowed for easy removal over the brush head cover. Such a backwards step, 2 minutes out of the box I got a twig caught just out of finger reach, not good ! Other than that it's a cracking vacuum cleaner

I had to take mine all the way apart, I got it back together, but the handle won’t stay up. How do I take care of the handle.
Great video! I advise buying several sets of filters so you can wash the dirty ones and let them dry a couple of days.
Very helpful! Thank you, I’ve never thought about how often I needed to clean all these parts.

Thanks John. I'm still testing positive but feel much, much better!

This was VERY HELPFUL! I wasn't sure if the screen cylinder was removable or not. Thank You!👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
I know you had made a video already since your sickness, I hope y'all are healthy now! Anyways, it's great and helpful as always!
Thanks my friend. Still testing positive, but feeling much better!

Excellent Matt no idea so much cleaning involved my vaccum working again!😊Thank you!!!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much for posting!
Just a note, you don't have to replace the odor neutralizer. If it runs out you can just remove it as it doesn't affect the performance of the vacuum
Correct. Although, I wouldn't remove it. Just leave it in place.... it won't hurt anything.
Hi! I have stratos. In that head/NOZZEL area, one of my wheels is making squeaking sound. I got this in January of this year!
Try a single drop of oil where the axle and the wheel meet. That should help!
Tha thank you for all the help
Happy to do it!
Very informative thank you!
Great video- is a big help - thanks
Wishing for the odor neutralizer there was a way to wash it or just like, chuck in some scented oil oil.
Hi, I purchased mine in December, i was vacuuming today and it shut off and wont come back on. What's wrong with it?
Did you find the dumpster? These are mass marketing garbage
Hi, I just happened to subscribe to this channel just today. Awesome content.
Thanks for the sub, Jane! So happy we could help you out!
I had to take mine apart, I’m about to get it back together, but the handle won’t stay up. How do I get it to say up.
In the very beginning of the video when you take the entire bottom off the unit that holds the brushes and the scent deodorizer, HOW do you do it?
How do I get that spring back in to the roller
Thanks for the video! Great info, Matt! I'm curious about the spray that you used on the microfiber cloth as you cleaned the dust cup. What was that?

My vacuum won't turn on I've tried 3 different outlets nothing it's not blocked anywhere
My Shark stratus roller was jammed with debris and cut off. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned everything, but I can’t get the vacuum to cut back on. Is it trash or is it a reset button somewhere?
Unfortunately there is no reset button, it is supposed to reset automatically when turned off/on. Is the light coming on when you turn on the machine?
How do I clean the plastic lid over the roller? Mine is so disgusting, and I need to take it off to clean it, and I can't figure it out. Pls help.
Hi there! Just after this video I have a nozzle tutorial. Look through our library and you will find it. Thanks!
8:20 *I TELL CUSTOMERS EVERY TIME YOU USE IT !*
Fair enough... You can't clean them too much!

I have the same issue. Where is the elbow and the micro switch?

Mines died already Error code 10.
Briefly starts then stops and shows a number ten.
Junk:(
Awesome video! What are you spraying at 12:30 to clean the inside of the bin?
It is a product called Bee's Wax that is like a natural version of Pledge.
Do The tiny rollers on either side of comb come out so I can unwrap hair in them?
You need a skinny flat head screwdriver to put under the wheel and then pry up. They will pop up then.
Looking for sensor cleaning shark cordless vacuum iz800 series help. Thanks to anyone. BTW this was a big help.
I have a 1400 square ft apartment (First floor) with 90% carpet. Should I go for Dyson ball multifloor origin for $199 or Shark stratos for $299?
Personally, I wouldn't go with either. I think there are better options in that price point, case-in-point the Riccar R25S. What is the small brush used for on the bottom of the duo clean by the nozzle trap door?
It's an electrical grounding point to limit static electricity.
I would like to buy an additional foam and felt filter also but haven't been able to find where to get them. Did you find where to get them?
Can't believe they have not allowed for easy removal over the brush head cover. Such a backwards step, 2 minutes out of the box I got a twig caught just out of finger reach, not good ! Other than that it's a cracking vacuum cleaner
I keep getting stuff in my eyes when using my stratos 😢 smh
So sorry about that! Not fun.
Shark needs to work on their cyclone design! For starters, it's upside down!
I am the design manager of this product, really thanks for your guide, u can send me email if you have any questions
Hi Liu Peter! I'd love to chat about the vacuum design and ask you a few questions. Can you shoot me an email at hov@thehouseofvacs.com? Thanks!
Does the soft roller stop working like it did on my Vertex? That's the biggest issue stopping me from buying this vacuum.
What is the random brush on the bottom of the duo clean used for
Mines died, error 10. Spins up then stops instantly 😢
