Today we are pairing our Krachan, this is a study of pairing behaviour between these amazing spiders, the male being so much smaller than the female, WARNING it does not end well for the male , but this is an important part of breeding , some stunning close up footage please watch to the end .

I've watched a bunch of your vids now and i have to say its probably the best informative T channel out there. The chilobrachys are one of my favourites i do think they have gained a bad reputation possibly through a wrong enclosure set up lack of burrow and or hide or retreat somewhere for the T to be at ease. Sure they can be fast i had my dyscolus blue female run up the tongues and almost have my fingers which was my fault i shouldn't of tryed to reposition the prey but you find these things out one way or another.

Great video as always, Dave. I know I'm 8 months late, but here's my comment anyway. I really appreciate how you present and explain things on your channel. I enjoy Tarantula Kat and Dark Den, but it's really refreshing to watch a channel that doesn't use gimmicks and colourful props to endorse their channel. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what they do, there's definitely a niche in the market for that kind of approach, but I find myself coming back to your channel more because of the natural and organic way you produce videos. And I'm not even into spiders. I'll most likely never keep spiders as a hobby, but if I ever did, it would probably be jumping spiders. I'd likely release some of them around the house to take care of any bug problems that might arise. And I have very little fear of them crawling on me because they have no reason or cause to bite me.
These tarantula videos are very interesting, but I hope to see more jumping spider videos from you also. Keep up the awesome work!

As a child many moons ago on a school camp my interest in spiders was ignited. The game warden said two things that really stuck with me. The spider will never cross breed as the petipulp is unique to that species like a key to a lock. He also said that the sole purpose of the male was to breed with the female and that most lose their life during the act of mating. Females generally live a 'fixed life" in one place and a male is more nomadic. The spiders he took us to see were golden orbs, common garden orb, baboon at different life stages, the recluse spider, the common house spider the black widow and the false widow. He showed us how to identify webs and whether the web was inhabited. I loved the orb spiders but i doubt there are many in captivity as their daily webs are spun to well in excess of 4 ft. He even showed us how to sex a spider. It is good to show these things as they are natural albeit gruesome.

@@daveslittlebeasties it was but that is because in my day, more than 50years health and safety meant if you were not losr you were safe and if we were alive you were healthy. We had a whale of a time bivvy building, game tracking, rock climbing and abseiling, bush crafting and bush survival. We were all amazed that if we cut ourself and needed stitches the bush even provided those in the form of matabele ants. It was an amazing typical African childhood. Kids miss out on so much of it today.
