How to avoid any arguments about FF14: Avoid Reddit, Discord, Twitter, UA-cam and any other Social Media. That's where I had all of my 14 arguments, none were ingame.
i only know about the stuff said on youtube and discord never had much toxicity but i can understand how much of a fire trap reddit and twitter are...........
The one time I've actively felt intimitated by the community was my first time in Dalriada, final boss, getting yelled at for not rezzing healers as a RDM while I was scrambling to figure out what was going on. Didn't help that the yelling started after I had already eaten the floor like twice and was so low on MP I couldn't even rez... even with a relevant essence applied.
@@Ch4pp13 That's just adrenaline, tunnel vision, and the typical 'WHERE'S OUR HEALER?!" There's some misconception that healers have instant casts, no cooldowns, and infinite MP...
Speaking of other MMOs, I once got 250k to stand in front of someone's house and tell anyone who walked by that WoW was the first and best MMO ever made. I stayed friends with one of the people, and every time we found each other in a zone, they would request a "WoWfact." My WoW facts had a very specific pattern. WoW was invented in 1967 to-- examples, "to combat a country-wide lice outbreak." "To cure cancer" "to stop Hitler." And would end with, "While it failed at this, it went on to become the best and first MMO." People would get SO mad at me saying WoW was first/best. Like, did you not notice everything in the sentence was a stupid joke? Not gonna focus on it being invented in 1967 to combat mental illnesses."? Just the fact that I saw WoW is the first and best? Morons. I miss Tori. That was my favorite stupid joke I ever had going for me.
"Contrary to popular belief, it was widely theorized and even promoted by FDR that WoW was a cure for Polio, until a vaccine was created. Studies on the effects of WoW on Polio were dropped after that, but it's lovely to think even our Franklin D. Roosevelt thought WoW was the best and first MMO of all time." I was gonna write Frederick instead of his actual name but I think that'd start a different war lol
After binging several of Lucy's videos, I think I'll give FF14 a try. What profession you may ask? Blue Mage, the most difficult profession of them all.
The Lucy Library is open! #6 is personal to me because the absolute battles I've witnessed lately over people wanting certain jobs to be buffed of fixed resulting in people... being angry? Like we want more for you why are you defensive😭😭
Me, someone who raids with all 4 healers: "please buff white mage it's suffering majorly and its simple toolkit is weakening its potential" Some idiot: "fuck you bro white mage is perfect the way it is" Me: "..."
Cool to see someone that could talk about some problems in a fun and amusing way, but with serious points too. I think that the recent surge in popularity has made the community too pridefull, we should understand that we need to be able to complaint about the game oppenly so that the people in charge understand what we want. It is not a cardinal sin to express dissatisfaction with any game, even more if it is subcription based. Great video.
The scary part is that if we become to prideful and not express the problems we have to the devs in order to improve the game... FFXIV could end up like Warframe... A bunch of white knights too blind and admit what their game has become. (MR19 to prove my history with Warframe)
Agreed, I have maaaany mmos on my belt and XIV has been the only one that has kept me. It has to do with many things, but mostly the developers knowing what they are actually doing. I feel that my time is being respected here, and the game is actually fun and not a freaking chore. Player since 1.0, have taken several breaks from it, and still, here I am.
@@Dave-qz9tq I don't think that'll be the case, the community as far as I've seen is still very tight together of what we want and what we don't want. You just have to see at the response about DRK being underpowered, the NFTs idea, the graphics upgrade, etc. As for DRK, I'm referring to living dead.
Tbh its not really the community thats too prideful. Its got its share of white knights sure, but the main problem seems to be the devs being too prideful. Like deliberately misreading the vital healer question on how terrible the gameplay is because none of the job designers play healer
As your token WoW-lurker, I can tell you most of these track in WoW too. The lore one - badmouthing the lore is expected, defending spepcific storybeats is the one that sparks flame wars. Defending devs also sparks flame wars, badmouthing them is expected (and then there's the third camp that goes all out calling for mass firings, like?) As for the community, we...most wow players know, expect, and kind of wear their toxicity as a badge of honor. Yes, I am a filthy fucking no lifer and I live in my mom's basement. Or something to that effect.
I decided to try out wow after many many years, last played in Cataclysm. And I got to say that I have not met a single asshole so far and every encounter with other players have been super polite. Kind of surprised me, but yeah the real toxicity is in the end game, applies for FF too.
I last played WoW semi-seriously in 2017 or so, I always played Horde, and I remember that one very sore lore topic was...Sylvanas. Some people saw her as the strong, independent woman who has been through hell (literally!), shunned by her own family, and had to build an empire pulling herself up by her bootstraps. Other people saw her as a Mary Sue who turned sour once she found herself enjoying authority a bit too much.
As someone who's played wow for about 10 years....I've experienced some of this, though I mostly hung out with friendly people who didn't argue much or act toxic.
Hey Lucy! I’m of course excited for the very reasonable and cordial discussion these topics will spark :) Also, I understand if there’s a time restriction since these weekly uploads are great, but have you thought of adding written Closed Captions?
@@LucyPyre Thanks a ton! I know some people who are a bit hard of hearing, and it’s nice to have in general. (Plus it’s also a vector for some extra cursed content if you wanna go down that route)
My favorite thing to do in populated areas is start ranking the FF series in order of greatest to worst in shout chat and then leave while chaos ensues. I may or may not be notorious for doing this on my server. :^)
Re: #1: Not only did Cleric Stance exist, but accuracy did too. And healers had extremely low base accuracy, much lower than other jobs. Which meant you had to be fully melded with absolutely nothing but accuracy materia in order to do decent DPS. Obviously that was a major barrier for many players to do DPS as healers, especially since back then very few healing oGCDs existed so all healing was GCD healing.
And it was awesome. Because it was scary to dps. Cuz if you screwed up, the tank died, and aggro was hard to get, so the raid died, and it was your fault.
@@titusfortunus2916 I guess awesome means "incredibly frustrating and flawed system that actively works against the interests of the player, the job and encounters in general." Was Parry your favorite stat too?
Wanna start a flame war in Limsa? Just ask everyone if they want female Hrothgar to be actual furries or thigh landers with cat ears and a tail. This is assuming that your Limsa is anywhere near as bad as the Diadem was during Firmament events. That place was literal horny jail.
What do you mean "was"? My diadem's shout was just talking about which Thomas the tank engine train they thought was sexiest the other day. ...I think they ended up settling on James.
Jenova doesnt have too much chaos but theres always at least 2 or 3 sets of matching miqote in the most revealing clothing possible standing in the aetheryte plaza, shouts get weird some times though
As an old player who had all these problems in WOW raid days where "you pull it, you tank it" was a normal response to flooding the tank with stuff he might not have the gear to handle on top of what they had, I get right around all of these. Of course the game flow was a bit different and most fights at endgame, even the trash pulls, were impossible if anyone did something even remotely different from their role. Pulling trash too fast during Firelands runs used to just plain end raid nights.
Kind of built in to number 6. If your main job suffers on an expansion launch and doesn't feel fun in the end game, you are not allowed to express your greviances without getting shouts of "just play a different job then" or "you've got no idea what you're talking about, x job is great you just suck at it". Seriously, just...just don't. Even if the community as a whole agrees that a job needs help, you will find at least one person with one of the above attitudes if you dare talk about your own personal enjoyment being slightly diminished.
None of the jobs suffer. You can clear anything in the game with the bottom 8 jobs on anyone's pointless tier list. Fun may be a factor so I agree with that
@@bonerjams2001 Well fun is sadly subjective but its why i dropped scholar as my main. Yes you make it through content, you can deal damage but your heals feel bad and dealing damage feels boring as scholar currently.
I made someone really angry recently because they told me Summoner is an easy class and they were giving me shit for maining it, and I just said, "I know, that's why I picked it. I'm playing for the story, why would I pick a class that frustrates me?" It was very fun and satisfying seeing how upset they got about it UwU Trolling aside, I genuinely enjoy Summoner very much and I don't understand the tendency for people to be shitty about whether someone is playing a "difficult" class or not. It's a game, isn't the point of a game to be having fun? If I have fun with something "easy", shouldn't that be enough? :/
@@enymetouche2558 Games are not real life. Games have nothing to do with real life. What I want and enjoy in a video game has no bearing on what I wish for in real life. If you subscribe to that kind of philosophy, I feel bad for you.
@@sebastardd You certainly seem like the type of person who is incapable of doing things without the help of other people though. Of course it has bearing for what you wish for in real life, people like you are all about that. I'm guessing you still live at home and play FFXIV every waking moment to not think about the "bad things" like work? NEETs have really gone downhill these days.
"You pull it you tank it" What? That's such a ridiculous statement. Back in the day, tanks couldn't even pull! If a tank tried to pull during an EverQuest Raid you'd get party wiped while the healers and bards scream at you for the entirety of the time they try to cling to dear life.
Yeah, but that was back in the day, in an entirely different game where tanks didn't all have a ranged attack and you could pull a mob out of a pack without aggroing the whole pack. in XIV every tank has a ranged attack to pull with, and hitting any mob in a group is gonna bring the whole group at you. There's no peeling enemies off for safety.
@@Cloverpotato Even better then: It's a game where tanks only have to aoe once and get more enmity that you will ever be able to do as a dps. you sprint, aoe the group, run, aoe the second one, press cd in the order of your bars one at a time. Such tankxiety, everything you do from aoeing and reducing 20% damage will surely reduce any wipe possibility. Like if a dps or heal or whatever wants to pull? who cares, i ll just do one aoe and take them all, like i'd mind, i dont have an aoe ranged agro tool, so i dont have to wait 2,5 sec in between to have full agro on the group.
@@Aiscence Funny enough, I can even pull smaller groups with my glass cannon SAM, pop Bloodlust, and just spam AoE while regening hp. @@Gibby34340 I mean yeah, dps can actually tank single pulls especially if the healer actually tried to learn their job aka not spamming cure1, only reason to have a tank in dungeon is multipull
With the quality of this video I'm sure there's great chance of seeing Lucy Pyre among others for 7.0 media tour About no.6, I sometimes think about the homogenizing of tanks as a whole (dps stance/mitigation) to the point of missing old dark knight and healers having more than a gcd roller + dot for damage And now we got 6.0 summoner I ain't the dev, but it sure is saddening to think about
Yeah one thing i was saying to my main tank buddy... I miss old warrior. When you could see how good he was by how long he stayed in dps stance, and the REAL good warriors could pull in deliverance and never touch defiance?! And as a dps I had to use anti aggro abilities?! BLM was GRATEFUL for lucid dreaming! Quelling strikes wasn't enough to save you so you had to cut your aggro in half using Lucid! Now it's useless for BLMs! And paladin was known as offtank not because of their kit but because they had to do two full rage of halone combos before they could actually swap to dps mode cuz they didn't do Warrior damage so they couldn't hold aggro!
I once fought a keyboard war. It didn't end well. While a keyboard does have some merit as an instrument of blunt force I found it less effective than guns, knives, swords and other weapons created especially for that task. I would recommend using those instead.
it depends and scales heavily with brainpower or just basic usage. has op range and high defensiv stats but hard to cause lethal wounds. its more like dark magic, cursing others and power up on their suffering.

One of the cringiest things I saw while being in the Novice network is people obsessivley talking shit about WoW. There is a category of ff14 players who have WoW living in their heads rent-free.
The funny thing is that at least 95% of the people talking shit about WoW have never even touched it. It's just them trying to put FFXIV on an even higher pedestal, but they just sound salty AF.
@@Gibby34340 Really? Most of the ones I run into are former WoW players who can't stop talking about it like people who can't stop talking about their ex. "I'm so much better without them! It's part of why I find the whole "WoW refugee" label cringe; changing video games should not be that serious.
I don't like WoW and have zero interest in playing it when I can play FFXIV instead, but the community's obsession with shitting all over WoW to try and prop up FFXIV really irks me. Most of all because it just makes no sense to do it these days. FFXIV isn't the underdog anymore, trying to get the recognition it deserves next to a behemoth like WoW. The world knows FFXIV is good and it's easy to sell the game on its own merits, not by constantly comparing it to WoW. I just do not care whatsoever about the current state of WoW. oh my god the other day i had the weirdest game i've had in a long while. i was doing leveling roulette, got copperbell mines and our tank was pulling one pack at a time. they had experience with tank if their search info wasn't lying, and generally a lot of things leveled, so not new to the idea of tanking. didnt put on tank stance to start, which is an ok mistake to make especially here, but they kept turning it off randomly and seemingly-maliciously throughout. the healer kept reminding but it fell on deaf ears. one pull, the tank pulled a singular enemy and didnt continue pulling. i made the mistake of assuming that the tank was going to continue to the next two enemies literally a couple paces away, and i started quick nocking them. the tank took off tank stance and i was forced to tank them until the rest of the party was done with their one lightning sprite. the part where the rooms split off to get the firesand, the party was headed right, but the tank went off by themself and took the left room. me and the CNJ and PGL (yes, really.) tanked through that one. we just continued fighting that room instead of helping the tank.. i dont wanna say it was a sure consensus but we definitely were not jumping to the tank's aid. the part with the slime boss, the tank didn't pull any of the slimes, stance off. rather, they were the one pushing the bomb device and i was tanking. the tank then started attacking the bomb to aggro it so they knew how aggro works? i think? anyways they died to self destruct so that was pretty funny once we got to that cave part where you pull through that crevice, the tank pulled two enemies and just stopped in that little pit. pgl ran and pulled the next pack and i LB'd it. i don't like the idea of pulling for the tank. i can only assume slow pulls are intentional, tanking can be anxiety inducing. but the tank definitely knew what they were doing, turning off tank midpull and not even attempting to damage the other monsters. ..but the weirdest thing was that the tank waved goodbye to me post match..
Copperbell is the worst fucking dungeon in the game. I would've just taken a 30 minute penalty if I had a fucking scrub single pulling in that dungeon. You can literally just run straight through it, and some mobs will even turn around and go back to their starting position.
Sounds like they knew what they were doing and doing it on purpose lol. I agree on the tank pulling, I like the old system of FFXI where mobs were harder and other jobs pulled as a specialty.
Our static had a discussion about ACT Plugins around the time of UWU We had the choice of doing Titan Gaols with either group markers, or a plugin that self-calls out for you I personally wanted to do it with neither, so we had an opt-in for the self-callout plugin Because we could compromise and accept some people use them while others can choose not to, we we all happy!
This is why I like having sound minded friends who can chat about aspects we do and do not like about the game. There are for certain toxic people in the game but I'm glad they seem to get shut down quickly, I just think it's uncool that most of the time the people being toxic are in alliance raid and are bullying sprouts for not instantly knowing what to do. Heck I had a tank tell my poor sprout tank that they were so handicapped they should have someone carting them around in a wheelchair because they can't manage the mechanics. Needless to say we called him an asshole and he cried victim. I think criticism shouldn't be hand-waved away and we shouldn't ignore toxic people but they should be told to knock it off.
The worst feeling is when you get into an extreme trial after watching a full guide on it, only to wipe 10 times because your teammates refuse to look up a guide and wanna "figure it out for themselves". Double pain when the extreme trial pops up in your daily roulette...

I used to be a "You tank it you pull it" kind of person. Then I realized there's no point in that mentality and instead developed a macro that I use at the start of every dungeon that asks how big my party wants to pull. It has worked every single time and I've gotten a lot better at dungeon tanking thanks to it.
I think I've talked about most of these at one point or another. That kinda explains a lot. Not the plugin thing, though, screw that noise. I'm doing enough DPS to have fun, what color parse is that?
fun fact shadowbringers is actually not that great, because a: you don't get to kick alphinaud off the top of Mt. Heh...only in easy content or when you have another healer in the group really, if the tank is taking a massive beating you'd better have Aetherflow III up and off cooldown so you can Lustrate six times in a hurry, I find Steel Vigil to be pretty notorious in that regard in that at times I can only spam Physick to keep the tank from kissing the floor until the numbers are thinned enough to attack again, Aurum Vale too.

Personally I don't use plug-ins ect. and I don't care if others use them. As long as you are not competing for world first or something, it is making the game easier/playable for you, it does not affect me personally at all. The only times I have an issue with people using plug-ins is when they try to force others to use them as well.
Im kinda like, dont use software to cheat in a way other people can see (so no cheating in items or cheating infinite health or something) but otherwise I dont care what people run, its one of those games where theres a lot that you could do to it that wont change a single thing about the experience of the game by other players
Video #6 of asking Lucy to stop worrying and love the blue mage Every video I ask she becomes more mean to the blue mages. But i will never give up, as the blue rep for the Demonites, I must press on
Blue mage has the best class theme in the series. Shame it's a second class citizen in 14. Could be the caster tank class but nah, redheaded step child status for us.
@@osogitzgraymane72 Well to be fair the only way to make Blue Mage work as a regular class would be... To throw a thing that makes them a Blue mage. That's right they'd need to become a rigid job with skill learning tied to level ups just like any good little Job in the game. Because BLU learns spells more organically they basically cannot be scaled down but you also cannot guarantee they'll have a specific kit at all. One might have entire spellbook and the other just 3 or 4 easiest to learn spells
I must be an OUTLIER to these controversies, because I've had these convos with random people on FF XIV.....and so far, everyone has been pretty CHILL and understanding. Out of ALL the gaming communities I've been in, FF XIV is probably the nicest and compassionate of them all, always willing to help new players, and work together to a goal. The only time I've seen someone get MAD, was when we ALL screw up at a trial. But...we keep moving forward. I don't know....maybe I've just been lucky, or maybe I'm not HUMAN enough to get mad. XD
That's the joke bro. Most of us are pretty chill and we mostly just ignore the folks that rage about this shit sincerely. They exist, of course, but we can joke about them because we all think they suck.
it's mostly true. I find that the more dedicated players are also the more toxic ones. I encountered a lot more salt once I started playing harder and optional content. Not salt directed at me of course, because I'm perfect.

"If you pull it, you tank it." Can confirm for ESO at least, this is true. Unlike XIV, there's no debate about it. In *Little Baby Man* dungeons, nobody cares if you run ahead, pull stuff, and/or die. If anything it can be considered, depending on circumstance, speeding up the process and getting through the BS in a more efficient manner. You pull mobs in Vet Trials? You will be left to die, and people WILL fuck your shit up over it, especially as you NEED to save your rezzes for actually important times, such as during the boss fights (and depending on the trial, it isn't necessarily the 'final' boss that needs them). That said, there's usually *enough* healing around that as long as you don't screw up too badly, the group can handle a few hiccups. Key words: A *few.*
@1:09 I unironically blew up laughing when you hit me with that. I mean tbh I at least chuckle at just about all the jokes I hear regardless, but you surprise-bombed with that one so hard I spontaneously triggered a chain reaction in my guffawing organ.

Hello, I'm a RuneScape player who's not tried FF14 yet...and somehow I understood everything here. Maybe we're not so different after all? I'd like to add a protip for anyone looking to recruit more potential players (like myself): Please, PLEASE don't oversell your game, especially the community aspect. Even if there's truth to what you're saying, bragging doesn't come off as wholesome. It's creepy. Thank you.
They only thing I'll brag about is if i beat ea and make cool games ( zero p2w mechanics without anything like skins or dlc bought with irl currency ) with a chill fanbase
I've been playing FFXIV since 2017, never got in trouble once or got into arguments with players at all. The only toxicity I ever encountered was two fold: FC drama on Discord from immature FC members who formed cliques and the other form was raid elitists farming the current Heroic Trials for Faux Tokens getting mad because I'm either making mistakes or not doing enough dps for them and this only happened twice when I first started to get back into end game content 2 years ago when the event was first added to the game. The 10 things that are listed here are pretty well known and I'm aware of them. I simply chose to never engage such nonsense and ignored it. I used to main tank and if other people pulled stuff for me I simply reacted by trying my best to quickly get to the top of the enmity for that entity before it K/Oed the person who pulled it. This whole "you pull it you tank it!" garbage I have never encountered in FFXIV ever. The last time I encountered that sort of nonsense was I think when I used to play SWTOR and that was a decade ago. So yeah, haven't encountered that mindset in a decade, so predating ARR's existence.
"You tank it you pull it." On one hand I disagree with this because I want to just finish the instance and a tank that's pulling small causes it to drag on. On the other other hand, I'm still salty about the one time I wiped in Dzemael Darkhold because a monk decided to pull a bunch of frogs.
I'm currently leveling warrior and i'm literally all the time pulling the dungeon non-stop cause i'm broken, right? but in one i just stoped for barely five seconds to look at my inventory and the dps was already rushing in the pull and i was like "bro!?" I think the "you pull it, you tank it" is a bad behaviour but sometimes people are very rude with the pulling.

It always feels like Lucy is playing us for absolute buffoons with these jokes. The commentary is clever and funny while also being informative and with the subtle (or not subtle) flavoring of genuine criticism. Not bad criticism, mind you. It's important to recognize the flaws in the game, and its community, if we want it to continue to be great. Being too complacent ruined games before, and our digital house of cards is not immune to falling down. Great video as always.
The thing is, this was only half-joking. Fanboys claim FFXIV is the pinnacle of non-toxic community relations, but it's only slightly less of a hellhole than WoW. In-game chat is generally very nice and supportive, but Reddit and the official forums are a different story...

I stayed friends with one of the people, and every time we found each other in a zone, they would request a "WoWfact." My WoW facts had a very specific pattern. WoW was invented in 1967 to-- examples, "to combat a country-wide lice outbreak." "To cure cancer" "to stop Hitler." And would end with, "While it failed at this, it went on to become the best and first MMO."

I decided to try out wow after many many years, last played in Cataclysm. And I got to say that I have not met a single asshole so far and every encounter with other players have been super polite. Kind of surprised me, but yeah the real toxicity is in the end game, applies for FF too.

Other people saw her as a Mary Sue who turned sour once she found herself enjoying authority a bit too much.

Obviously that was a major barrier for many players to do DPS as healers, especially since back then very few healing oGCDs existed so all healing was GCD healing.

I would recommend using those instead.

oh my god the other day i had the weirdest game i've had in a long while. i was doing leveling roulette, got copperbell mines and our tank was pulling one pack at a time. they had experience with tank if their search info wasn't lying, and generally a lot of things leveled, so not new to the idea of tanking. didnt put on tank stance to start, which is an ok mistake to make especially here, but they kept turning it off randomly and seemingly-maliciously throughout. the healer kept reminding but it fell on deaf ears.
one pull, the tank pulled a singular enemy and didnt continue pulling. i made the mistake of assuming that the tank was going to continue to the next two enemies literally a couple paces away, and i started quick nocking them. the tank took off tank stance and i was forced to tank them until the rest of the party was done with their one lightning sprite.
the part where the rooms split off to get the firesand, the party was headed right, but the tank went off by themself and took the left room. me and the CNJ and PGL (yes, really.) tanked through that one. we just continued fighting that room instead of helping the tank.. i dont wanna say it was a sure consensus but we definitely were not jumping to the tank's aid.
the part with the slime boss, the tank didn't pull any of the slimes, stance off. rather, they were the one pushing the bomb device and i was tanking. the tank then started attacking the bomb to aggro it so they knew how aggro works? i think? anyways they died to self destruct so that was pretty funny
once we got to that cave part where you pull through that crevice, the tank pulled two enemies and just stopped in that little pit. pgl ran and pulled the next pack and i LB'd it.
i don't like the idea of pulling for the tank. i can only assume slow pulls are intentional, tanking can be anxiety inducing. but the tank definitely knew what they were doing, turning off tank midpull and not even attempting to damage the other monsters.
..but the weirdest thing was that the tank waved goodbye to me post match..
I decided I'm going to start leaving grief dungeons and any endgame dungeon with a single pull tank

This is why i just quietly play and never talk to anyone, ever
Jfc Lucy - I almost died at your abrupt swap from wholesome to filthy - at the outro.
I used to be a "You tank it you pull it" kind of person. Then I realized there's no point in that mentality and instead developed a macro that I use at the start of every dungeon that asks how big my party wants to pull. It has worked every single time and I've gotten a lot better at dungeon tanking thanks to it.
In wow i hate other people pulling, cause it often wipes the party. Took awhile to learn that FF is different.
I think I've talked about most of these at one point or another. That kinda explains a lot.
Not the plugin thing, though, screw that noise. I'm doing enough DPS to have fun, what color parse is that?
I just found this channel, for the last 2 hours I’ve been continually laughing my ass off at these videos.
fun fact shadowbringers is actually not that great, because a: you don't get to kick alphinaud off the top of Mt. Gulg. and b basically getting kidnapped and having to work/help your captor is just straight-up malarkey, heavensward is pretty tight tho, as the kids today say(do the kids still say that?)
I feel like you missed the ultimate sin in my FC.....saying someone's fav character sucks. Basically you talk about how much you hate any of the Scions and there will be at least 1 person in my FC ready to tell you why you're wrong and how you don't deserve the perfection that is the FFXIV story.
Unless it's Minfilia. Even people who like Minfilia will usually agree that she's not great.
I feel that kinda falls in line with criticizing the story, but I know that feel. Alphinaud is annoying AF, but if you dare to say so out in the open, you'll be paraded through the city and burned at the stake...
Yotsuyu is best girl
@@hopelover7023 I like Minfilia and don't enjoy seeing people shit on her all the time, but I'm also not going to start a fight over it. Same goes for Lyse.
I have my own opinion and other people can have theirs. It's a waste of time to argue over something so subjective. I know too well where that leads.
But this is hardly anything unique to FFXIV. This is literally all fandoms of anything ever. You always get those fans that get way too defensive about their opinions and treat every alternate opinion as a personal attack.
My fc leader committed sin #8 and told me I was bad for disagreeing with her so left her fc

That was a nice rap at the end there. I enjoyed it. 8)
Maybe there should be an EP made. :P
Ahhh interesting, I had mostly expected memes but got some interesting commentary on the community as well; I often see stuff that has a more educational bent than a comedic one for these types of topics, so I'm interested in seeing how your style develops!
Also yes, I snickered at the navy seal copy-pasta.
I also love Blue Mage precisely because of they are so broken they can be simultaneously extremely OP and extremely weak at the same time 😹
Thanks for the vids, looking forward to more 👋
Blue Mage is just a strategy game, all you need to do is figure out what you're gonna be fighting and set up the best spells for the job...
4) except Warrior... at this point every War main I know loves the Unga Bunga and embrace it proudly XD
I Discovered this video 2 weeks to late, and it brighted my Thursday, thanks! I've never had an argument in game, but, I said ONCE in twitter that I think Sage is less flexible than White Mage, because sage doesn't have powerful heals for an emergency or a fuck up by one of the party member, that started a loooooong keyboard war about it.
2:46 does anyone know what gunblade and jacket that is?
Number 4: exists
SCH mains: dying of laughter as we have the real healer fly around us while we dps
@@faylinnmystiquerose2224 Yeah as a rookie Scholar on Free Trial it is something I feel every other run. Coupled with the fact I'm pretty terrible at reading the damage which means 9 times out of 10 I have a tank die on me during the first Pull. Then again my only tools are Lustrate and my GCDs... Thank god I'm yet to reach the point where I have to spam healing. Usually a shield or two are enough...

Another great video o3o)b
Woah. Getting spicy in this one Ms. Lucy.
first time i watched your contend.
love the way you did this.
and can you give me a link to the full rap.
would like to hear the rest of it.
i know it is original, still want to hear the rest of it.
I'll never shut up about classes that have old outdated class design with 50 buttons best left unbound and is just outright more tedious to play than the newer classes.
The PING plugins like XIValexander and Clippy (Or whatever other ones there are) are an interesting case!
I am an Australian, I've spent my entire game time on American servers
I like Machinist, it's not super hard, but latency during Hypercharge is a constant issue with 200+ ping
Oceania is an option, but I'd lose my years of friends, so the plugin feels like a compromise until it's improved
That was easily my favorite cringe rap at the end of a video you have done yet
What is a barse run? Ive never seen or even heard of it before so can someone explain?
Video #6 of asking Lucy to stop worrying and love the blue mage
Every video I ask she becomes more mean to the blue mages. But i will never give up, as the blue rep for the Demonites, I must press on
Blue Mage? More like "Who?" Mage!
AHA-HAHA-HAHAHAH-
*dies of cringe*
What's so mean about saying blue mages blow up? -They do it all of the time anyways.-
Blue mage has the best class theme in the series. Shame it's a second class citizen in 14.
Could be the caster tank class but nah, redheaded step child status for us.
@@raynhylance3546 that's not true! Sometimes we use final sting! (Its the objectively stronger attack anyway)
They exist, of course, but we can joke about them because we all think they suck.
stay away from reddit and perhaps you may yet live, my blessed friend
it's mostly true. I find that the more dedicated players are also the more toxic ones. I encountered a lot more salt once I started playing harder and optional content. Not salt directed at me of course, because I'm perfect.
What server are you on? I wanna send you some of ours. I think right now aether are prob the most toxic people on the damn game. I got yelled at for going up the right side steps of sycus tower. I said left was boring they said the right are pedos. Like wtf. I just like to not go with crowd
@@AshTreeDweller tell them. Aether is rough. It was so nice for about a year and a half I was playing then a bunch of wow refugees came in aether. Nowalot of them a cool but the super toxic ones seem to be from there.
"If you pull it, you tank it."
Can confirm for ESO at least, this is true.
Grand cosmos feels like a savage raid with daily roulette...
@1:09
I unironically blew up laughing when you hit me with that.
I mean tbh I at least chuckle at just about all the jokes I hear regardless, but you surprise-bombed with that one so hard I spontaneously triggered a chain reaction in my guffawing organ.
I just tell people i skipped thru cutscenes and/or paid to skip Stormblood and SHB
This was very informative. Thank you Lucy for giving me ammo to start shi*t in Ffxiv! The lords of chaos will be very pleased!

I just started the video and I’m already waiting for Lucy to take shots at catgirls, other vtubers, and catgirl vtubers.
What's the outro song she uses?
Love the One Winged Angel theme with the rap at the end lol
Have you been on the FFXIV official forum? Everybody shits on the dev team and if you say "they are not that bad" you get torn to shreds
I appreciate your rhyme. I also appreciate your breakdown!
Person in Limsa: Says another MMO is better than 14.
Me: This isn’t an airport, no need to announce your departure.
"You tank it you pull it."
On one hand I disagree with this because I want to just finish the instance and a tank that's pulling small causes it to drag on.
On the other other hand, I'm still salty about the one time I wiped in Dzemael Darkhold because a monk decided to pull a bunch of frogs.
I'm currently leveling warrior and i'm literally all the time pulling the dungeon non-stop cause i'm broken, right? but in one i just stoped for barely five seconds to look at my inventory and the dps was already rushing in the pull and i was like "bro!?"
I think the "you pull it, you tank it" is a bad behaviour but sometimes people are very rude with the pulling.
@@xanxv1246 yeah its always a situational stance to take, like me personally am a very casual player who is a tank so i get upset when the party overpulls for me cause i wanna take my time with the dungeon and the story especially when its my first time. its like not waiting for someone whos in a cutscene, i dont wanna ruin there experience so i hate when people wanna ruin mine but giving me extras stress with huge pulls. doesnt help my anxiety at all
Pre Shadowbringers there would be an argument to be made, but after the enmity buffs in 5.0 and the complete removal of stance dancing, there is 0 excuse to not instantly grab aggro. If you take any sort of offense to someone else getting aggro for a split second you need to go to a therapist and treat your terminal main character syndrome. You're the punch bag of the party, if you don't want to tank, don't play tank.
@@vaan_ who tf said i had main character syndrome? im not acting like im better then anyone, i wanna play slower cause its nice to get a feel for the dungeon and the story, thats like seeing someone try healer for the first time and going do better. if i was comfortable to pull bigger pulls i would but im not im a casual player and i tell people that when i start the dungeon. if a healer were to ask me to go slower i would for them so why should i be treated any different? there would be an argument if it were an early level dungeon and everyone's played it 1000 times and want to get past it like the msq roulette, but a later dungeon that im doing for the first time and dont know enough about gives me anxiety cause i am such a casual player. this game is supposed to be for everyone casuals included quit acting like a wow player and criticise one player in the party because they arent doing everything optimized speedrun no hit%. and yeah the not playing a tank thing sure im just gonna learn a whooole new role and level it 80+ lev3els over the course of weeks just for story content piss off dude..

@@Gibby34340 Well thats cause the FFXIV community is so degenerate that they will solve all your dirty needs if you uh donate enough gill for it.
@@Gibby34340 It's still a massive step up over things like WoW from my experience. Or games that basically made ability to grief other players its selling point (scars from EVE run deep inside me). @@Jaquan018 Oh absolutely. Reddit will always be Reddit, and the official forums are just a place for whiners and egotistical douchecanoes to vent and piss on everybody's collective parade...

Tanking one hit home as a tank main... Such a complex topic. The toxicity REALLLY hit home being an ex-wow player. Had this FC member sending screenshots of him just roasting this tank on a personal level, not passive or anything naw he was going at him. Told the person it was kinda toxic and they threw the typical "This isnt toxic at all..." "FFXIV best community." Eventually they threw the "Ya well what about WoW??" I just shrugged and said quote "Thats true ya, you'd fit right in." Needless to say I had to mute Disc notifications for a while.
Dont get me wrong, FFXIV is the best MMO community ive seen and been a part of... but the toxic shitters cling to that best community card a little too hard and use it as an excuse.
Ya, you'd fit right in. Such a burn.
