Urianger is the funniest member of the crew, bar none. Dude tries to exude mystery and gravitas, but after a while you realize he's just a nerd in a black dress trying and failing to make up for his imagined shortcomings. Learn to swim? Fuck that, he tries to walk on water. Find out about a possible catastrophe? Manipulate a group of shadowy demigods into revealing their plans and sacrifice one of your bests friends to prevent two apocalypses at the same time. Wear glasses? Fuck that, not one but *two* sets of goggles and face-concealing cowl to hide sideburns to immaculately sculpted you could take measurements with them, *just because*.
Wasn’t he chastised as a doomsayer before Dalamud fell? So he kinda had to hide his face for awhile if I’m not mistaken which also makes him a secret agent nerd and awesome
Urianger stans unite!
Urianger is truly the best boy. Plus I've always loved the way he talks. Like barely anyone else in the game's world talks like that aside from maybe the dragons. Makes him stand out a bit.

Also, he is AST main, and that’s all I need. Healers support each other.
My favourite is Matoya, probably because I, too, am a cranky old lady who is done with everyone's shit.
There's already a post on Tumblr but Urianger is just the most character of all time. He's a fully grown man with exquisitely maintained muttonchops who religiously wears dresses. He has an almost supernatural knack for seamlessly working his way into the friendship of the local beast tribes. He tricks pixies into getting him afternoon tea. He can't swim. He's both a Yugioh and a Jojo reference at the same time. He becomes Earth's ambassador based sheerly on his ability to give literally anything a try without a shred of irony. His childhood best friend snapped him in half as an established secret handshake. He only speaks in Shakespearean English. He's a master of prophecy. He joined the Scions specifically to find a really good book. He can tell an entire audience of people his favorite food is cockatrice balls without so much as batting an eye. He is so secret-keeper coded that he's had the weight of the multiple worlds and countless lives placed directly on his conscience twice and he didn't utter a peep either time. He has an insta-death spell. He's a healer.
Hades has absolute velcro hooks into my heart but Urianger and Papalymo take up the remaining portions of heart meat I have left. Gentleman's Club.

My favorite is Lyna. She's intensely loyal, and sensitive, but she's not afraid to kick some butt if that's what needs to be done. Also, she has an amazing voice actor.
yeah.. same. I also prefer Lyna over Y'shtola... Lyna is a Badass.. but also shows a humble weakness sometimes, that wants you to hug and cuddle her.. also.. the voice acting is pheomenal!
I want to see her drunk as that how lorewise her minion got made.

Lyna English va is so good. That scene after the fight in Lakeland still gets me.
Plus her and the exarch have such a lovely family bond. I don’t really care about y’shtola managing world travel. I want to establish it for G’raha and Thancred.

Zenos is my favorite, but not because I love villains. I mostly love him because he served as a reality check for the WoL. Everything up to that made us out to be damn near invincible--Zenos, meanwhile, was the "Allow me to retort" bitchslap that, honestly, I respected. I still wanted to finally get that rematch, but I respected it.
Also, thiccness is never a bad thing.😁

My favorite character in all of FFXIV, is my own. Though the WoL rarely says much, I've never gotten so attached to a characters story so much. If I had to choose an NPC, it would very easily be Lyna.

you missed Hildabrand. His quest line is a nice wind down from the tedious msq and makes me laugh with how silly it is. somehow no matter what he ends up where he needs to be despite not knowing the details. Also missed Mide

The humour of those quests is an acquired taste.
One I personally do not have and that I was begging to end before I even finished the first quest line. I'd rather watch eg. the twins being siblings than some uncomfortable slapstick and randomness for laughs, yunno.
Hildy’s an idiot but he has a heart of gold and I can’t help but love him for it. His heavenward storyline was actually really poignant

Venat and Emet are my favorites and you aren't wrong, that slow walk scene had me in tears and I just wanted to root for her to keep on going. Even thinking back on it now makes me a little teary eyed. Some times the hardest choices are the right ones, and some times you just gotta do what you gotta do.
A shame she never trying any other reasonable option like telling the Convocation the truth before the chaos ensued. Trying to tell grieving people who want to release the souls of their brethren from a primal to suck it up and move on isn’t sufficient.

@@vortex3833 if she did that the entire timeline of the game would be fucked, and Meteion would probably still win because the ancients couldn’t interact with dynamis at all, since their aether pools are so vast. As sundered souls, we can interact with dynamis much more easily and utilize it against the Endsinger, who’s domain is ruled entirely by dynamis and emotion
@@overdrivedrinker8284 Timeline being fucked contradicts Shadowbringers that shows that an Alternative universe was formed when G’raha changed time, the timeline he came from didn’t get erased, there’s a short story about that. As for Dynamis interaction, they could’ve created entelechies that could. Meteion and her sisters were a creation of one ancient after all and look how powerful they turned out to be. That’s not going into the possibility of them sundering a few dozen people purposefully so they can interact with Dynamis and send them to UT. There’s nothing in game to contradict those options and they actually correlate with previous lore in SHB and such. Imo they didn’t make the point they wanted to make good enough.

I feel so called out with the Yotsuyu one, especially considering the fact that I wrote Tsuyu into my character's story. I'm going to charge you a mortgage, since you basically live in my head.
My favorite is Ardbert. I usually can't cry, like literally, but to loose him... this absolutely made me cry. I absolutely loved his (german) voice. It was so comforting and I seriously miss it so much, that I think about it to start Shadowbringers again. (even if I haven't finished Endwalker yet)

My favorite character is Emet-Selch, but I would tie him with my second favorite character, Lahabrea, and third favorite character, Elidibus. I think each of them is a charismatic and powerful antagonist despite each suffering some mishandling at the hands of the writers. I struggle to call them outright villains since their motives are noble and the fact that they were put into situation they were is thanks to actions of Hermes and Venat. They don’t need to be fixed or helped, they don’t need to be taught to move on, they are wonderful as they are and I would do the same in their shoes. Rip the Unsundered, it’s incredibly sad that they had to die knowing they accomplished nothing.
I'm pretty sure if you're responsible universal genocide eight times, you're a bad guy. (And I say this as someone who considers Emet-Selch their favorite character.)

Currently post-heavensward. I kinda liked Nero tol scaeva's growth during the crystal tower alliance raids. I hope he comes back later on in the story ad an ally
Nero is my absolute favorite, and I am rather disappointed that Cid was mentioned, but no Biggs, Wedge, or Nerd- I mean Nero :(
I adore Runar cause he’s just such an innocent baby in everything he does. Out of the ones mentioned, I pick Lyse because she tries her best to help others and do good things despite having the airhead blondie syndrome.

Runar is one of the most wholesome side characters in the whole story.
Its hard to pick, Graha is one of my favorites, but I absolutely love all the characters in the Manderville crew. Especially Godbert and Hildibrand. Any characters that can make me laugh are instant favorites for me.
You forget on my beloved Gaius (I love his personality) and Nero (he is just badass) xD

Been a while since I played ffxiv, however, I was very happy you've mentioned Raubahn at 4:45.
I loved many of the characters here but always felt he was a bit underappreciated and would have loved to see more of him (in every way)

While I was thinking which characters might be my favorite (and I don`t think I can pick one singular), I didn`t think of those.
And yes, I found Feo Ul to be very enjoyable in her scenes. She is just funny as hell.
Personally I do prefer Godbert to Hildi. But they are both funny on their own right, and would not work as well without the other.
Feo ul was not mentioned by his beautiful sapling in this video. Now his ignorant sapling must play with him for three straight months with no sleep.
Where was Ardbert, his bff time in Shadowbringers was so good.
Urianger is unironically my favorite Scion, tied sith Estinien.
My favorites are Haurchefant, Hythlodaeus, and Erenville. I'm sweet, friendly, and like people who are kind, competent, and emotionally mature. I also like Urianger because he's a lot like me- seems very aloof and put together/mysterious, but is secretly a massive dork who gets easily flustered. Funnily enough, I am an artist just like you guessed!
Erenville was my favorite EW character
Lahabrea’s my favorite because my conspiracy corkboard takes up an entire wall and I can analyze that dude’s psychology for hours without taking a break. I’ve analyzed shot framing, arc projection, narrative structure, trial songs/mechanics, dungeon and random NPC lore details, scenery, seasonal events, ancient society/culture, Zoarastrianism, Kabbalah, Jungian psychology, and more that ties into what’s up with him. I am just a step short of reading the future in tea leaves and planetary positions here. Was not surprised by the Abyssos reveals and have been looking under every rock for Lahabrea to return in MSQ since Endwalker kicked off. I get sincerely sad for the dude, he needs a ton of therapy. I’ve loved him to bits before having any clue what he looked like and at this point he could literally show up with a paper bag on his head and I’d be delighted.
Some fans specifically like sad older guys. Some vibe with his tired energy. Some think he cackles in ARR because he’s the flat villain who will do whatever the plot demands. Others think he hasn’t slept in five days, is hysterical, and can barely string a thought together. In Toto-Rak, Lahabrea made an excuse that he only sounds incoherent because sundered language sucks upon realizing the Warrior understands Ancient, talked in a complete circle about bedtime (using five different synonyms for interesting), threw a bug at the Warrior, and ran away. Could be iffy writing but could also be the guy’s a loser nerd who lost control of his life and is trying his best to seem intimidating.
I think he’s been done real dirty from the moment he showed up onscreen and is due to return anytime now.
The only correct answer is.....Hildibrand Helidor Maximillian Manderville, Agent of enquiry, inspector extraordinaire. 😎
I feel so called out for Emet, but I’m sad no Lyna was mentioned, as she was what made me a Viera honestly, and I truly appreciate her dynamic with us and G’raha. Still a good list though Avy.,
Zenos wasn’t my favorite character. He was my friend.
He saw through my best and my worst even if I only nodded.
Emet-Selch will always be my favourite, I just love sarcastic villains with tragic back stories. Not to mention the whole [[SPOILER INCOMING YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! -->]] WoL being a sundered version of someone he knew and was close to, that just writes romantic plots all by itself and then leaves you emotionally devasted :D.... T_T I miss him.

Thancred: More I LOVE Percy from TLoVM and his VA {Talesin Jaffe) was Thancred's VA in ARR. Urianger: I like nerdy guys (see Percy comment from earlier).

I would say my favorite character in the story is my own WoL and my friend's WoL. Their slice of life romantic story, partially revolving around the MSQ - sometimes heavily when we pass through expansions - is so vibrant and full of personality and affection. While it might be just Roleplay/Fanfic, it gives them the dimensions the MSQ doesn't really give. I haven't been all that invested in the story as the times when me and my friend fully roleplay through it, bickering and flirting and turning one off locations into memorable ones by just having our characters interact differently than if they were to be going through the story solo.
Definitely hit the nail on the head with the Yugiri explanation :)
G'raha is my fav of course because he is so adorable and loyal to the WoL. I find that every time we are mentioned he seemed to get excited to go with us lol.

Yeah, Haurchefant... he's my boy. My boi. I can't get over him. My FC makes fun of me for it but I don't know why it hurts so fkn bad. Any opportunity to learn more about him or make up lil headcannons about him, I'm on it. I don't wanna water down his sacrifice but I'd happily travel to Halone's halls to cuddle and have cocoa with him again.
I'm taking a second character through the MSQ rn. Last night, I arrived outside The Vault... Haurche and Alphi just standing there totally unaware of the TRAUMA ahead. Girl I fkn turned my ass around, did every duty roulette available, decorated my FC room and then logged the hell off 🤣 I can't do itttttttttt
P.s. Daddy Emet, toxic FWB Zenos, husband Aymeric, Hythlo, Hermes, Urianger, Estinien, our simp G'raha, Ali & Alphi, Ysale, Fourchenault, Lucia,, Artoriel, Count Edmont, even Emmanellain... are all my beloved faves. It's just Haurche makes me cry a lot lol.

Hildibrand. I started a new character just to re-experience the whole quest line from jump. Well, that’s a lie, I wanted to re-do the whole MSQ as a mage this time (SCH/SMN and RDM) as I played a door-kicker (PLD, GNB, SAM, RPR) all through the first playthrough. Bonus: I get to meet Hildy, Nashu, Greg, Godbert, Julyan, and the whole madcap gang all over again. Best sidequests ever.

Lots of people have mentioned other missed ones for a possible round 2, but I'll add some more.
Kurenai: I loved the Ruby Princess quests, and when they finished I was honestly bummed that I couldn't find her character in-world. When I found out she was a custom deliveries character I was very psyched to see her again.
Hilda: Liked her in Heavensward, wished they'd used her in more scenes.
I have two; Alphinaud and Themis is pretty close too! Also had a few laughs from the video, haha!

As a Krile and Yugiri enjoyer, you got me pegged pretty exact here.
My favorite story character is Ardbert because... dude really goes through some very well written character development. And I also like characters who have a history with mental health issues like he does.
But my de facto favorite character is my own Warrior of Light. I have never bawled my eyes out for another character more than I did for my own, especially in ShB.
As a big fan of Tataru's criminal antics. Yes. Yes absolutely. Would do crimes together, 10/10.
Daddy Thancred. Though he was my favorite even in ARR and I was concerned when he turned out to be Laha and how it made no sense with his character until then. Was relieved when possession plot point came out. Best boi didn't betray.

Yugiri is probably my favorite, and I am a quiet type. Although, I find Nero to be the most entertaining.
She’s a total yamato nadeshiko but with the strength of a brick wall.
Also Nero still can’t catch Mjollnir and I just can’t get over that fact
Actually, I think you pronounced Hythlodeus' name correctly, well done. Also I am very impressed by how accurate some of this actually was! My favorite characters are:
G'raha - I am in fact both a cat and a dog person, thank you very much. Also, one of my PC's married him and had his baby (not in that order). 😁 He is sweet and pure and just wants to go on adventure's with you, and his story arc's are awesome!
Hauchefant - Too pure for this worlds and died way too soon. I'm going to save him in my fanfics, and he is also going to marry one of my characters. (And yes, I do try to be a very good friend.
Alisaie - The recklessness and loudness was back in my childhood, thank you very much. I like her because she is a chaos gremlin with a heart of gold and some of the best effing dialogue! She's dating my Xeala.
Alphinaud - Yes, I can be basic, but I do not care. He is intelligent, confidant, and while he and his sister both start off incredibly arrogant they both grow up to be the Heart of the Scions and I adore them. He is dating my Raen, and plays a pivotal role in her recovery from her trauma.
Krile - She is so sassy and helpful! And yes, I am a Lore Nerd. That is why I watch Nerd of the Rings. 😜
Nanamo - She is so strong and brave and sweet, how could anyone NOT love her! And yes, I do love cute things and have lots a plushies.
Venat - She is like a Final Fantasy incarnation of my RL Mom, who I am very close to. And yes, her song is a banger.
Hythlodeus - Best. Friend. Evar! And yes, I do love purple and I am indeed artistic. My preferred medium to work with is charcoal.
And last but not least, Themis - Sweet, compassionate, courageous, gregarious, and not afraid to put an idiot in their place! What happened to him was a f***ing tragedy and I want to save him and give him a good life. He is my adopted brother now.
